We all know that our Z3/Z3c has a bit of a delay in between taking photos (especially compared to phones from HTC, LG, Samsung, and even Apple), but has anyone else noticed the painfully long delay between when the record button is pressed and when the video actually starts recording? I've counted nearly 3-4 seconds before my recording starts and that's just ridiculous! I've missed crucial moments because of this delay. Is there anything that can be done? Anyone else not have this issue?
I have noticed this with my Device as well. I even got a Sony high speed SD card and still experience significant delays in recording. During the Golden State Warriors Parade, when I was snapping pictures and videos like a mad man, the phone crapped out in me twice, requiring a restart before the camera, or anything else, started working. Seriously disappointed with this seeing as how I'm completely stock.

If you press the record button, can you count how long it takes for the recording to actually start?
Does no one else have this issue? Is it just us?
Still looking for more input before I do something drastic like factory reset my phone. Has anyone else experienced this lag?
Sadly you are definitely not alone... ?
How long is your delay?
Sent from my Xperia Z3 Compact
are you in stock? Lolli or Kitkat?
im curently on stock Kitkat, and im having no significant lag...
when i press the record button, if there is a lag, i count only about 1 second.
It takes me 4 seconds to begin recording. On stock everything. I'm considering a reset myself.

Just tried it, but the lag was still there. I'd be happy if I could get the delay down to a second or less, but 3 full seconds feels like an eternity when you're trying to capture a candid moment.

Well, I did a full wipe of my phone and re-installed 4.4.4. The lag is still there. I don't know if it's an isolated issue, a KitKat issue, or if all Z3's have this problem. I just wish more people would chime in to help determine if there MAY be a solution out there.
Anyone with a LP firmware seeing a delay? If not, please say so.

I'm on kitkat, I don't ever use the autom. super mode but I did for this test and first time I tried to do a video it took nearly 2 seconds; next times I tried it was all between 1 and 2 seconds total.
So I don't think it's this bad as you all are saying

Thanks for responding! I'm not just saying that it's bad - it simply is bad. You can see from my video how long the delay is between pressing the button and when recording begins. A full 3 seconds for me. And as you just showed, it took your phone at least 2 seconds to start recording. I know these sound like small numbers, but it absolutely sucks when you try to catch a spontaneous moment and the delay causes you to miss part of it.
But now I'm curious to know if anyone on Lollipop is having this issue?
Just installed lp and tested. 6 seconds on first try, then 3 sec., then 1 sec. 4th attempt was immediate. Cleared memory and recording still starts immediately. I hope this continues.

Wow - that's horrendous! Unfortunately, I don't usually record multiple videos in a row, so in the real world usage, it would be a "cold start".
I just upgraded to 5.1.1. Lollipop - the record function now loads faster than in KitKat. Shaved off about 1-2 seconds so now I won't miss out on spontaneous moments when trying to record a video. Although, I only tested it with a fresh install. Who knows if it will lag again once my apps have all be re-loaded.

Benchmarks NEEDED quickly
DETAILED BENCHMARKS
Please makae a video showing the various benchmarks
and also please make a video about Gaming Performance make a video of some really graphic intensive big games PLEASE
any heating issues or lag
1).Test the USB OTG with a pendrive of 16 gb or more as we will require this feature as N4 doesnot have microsd card slot.
2). I have heard that the colours on N4 are dull n luk washed off so please compare it with same content running on both phone.
3).I have also heard that the back is made up of glass and it wont allow any heat to pass thorugh it so please check whether the phone gets hot during benchmark or playing hardcore games for 20-30 mins.
4).how are the camera samples of N4 the colours, noise, low lighting conditions, moving objects, other basic stuff.
5).How long does the phone last on average usage.
6).Tell us how long does it take to charge the phone.
7).One more important thing which other reviewers dont mention also tell us about the call quality and vibration after all its a mobile phone.
8).Also test the sound quality
9).tell us any other problem or lag that you are facing.
it would be really nice if you can make a video or answer theese questions PLEASE BE QUICK
First of all, thanks for the video. Try to plan it out better next time though, so you don't say "ummm" a lot. Still a great video though, and I appreciate the effort
As far as things that I would like to see:
1) Can you please a get a really good close up of the screen/bezel border on the front? I want to know if there's as big of a gap as the Gnex
2) Open up settings, and get a closeup of the background (preferably in a dark room). I wanna know if they fixed that stupid gradient issue in 4.2, and if LCD vs. AMOLED might make it less obvious.
Thanks

Screen Sensitivity
Hi, appreciate the effort you're putting in friend.
1 thing I can think of now that I'm quite curious about is the screen senstitivity of the phone.
Can you do the following please?:
1. (If you haven't already) Go to Settings > Options > About Phone > Tap 'Build Number' a few times till you turn developer options on.
2. Open developer options and turn on the 'Pointer Location' option.
3. Keep an eye on the 'Prs' value at the top of the screen and make as light a touch as possible around the screen. Record the lowest value you can get.
Can you also try and input text at a rapid pace and see how successful it is?
The reason behind all this is that there have been some reports of very poor screen sensitivity on the phone meaning that higher pressure is needed for the phone to register a touch.
Would it be possible for you to make a comparison to another android phone? Galaxy S'x' or a the Galaxy Nexus (if you own one)?
There's a thread in the Q/A forum where people are discussing this but I'm not able to post links yet. It's quite worrying.
Thanks

Ahaha I kid. I kid.
Actually all we want to know are three things...
1. does it rattle
2. is there a touch sensitivity problem.
3 and does an intensive game get even slightly laggier the longer its played.
If none of these issues exist..we would be VERY VERY HAPPY...Please reply.

hi all.
this is my 2nd htc one as the 1st i had had a half black'd screen problem out of nowhere.(photo 1)
the auto focus wouldnt work especially in close range shots.
photo 2,3,4,is the shots , this 2nd htc one took.when i got this replacement i noticed this problem but didnt care as i dont use camera too often, but when i had a close look at it today, the focus would do auto focus reapeatedly for a like many times then stoped there ,with a very blurry picture,no matter how many times i press the screen to make it focusd, just wont do it.
unless i suddenly move the camera to take a further picture,it would focus a bit, but later when i stopped moving and stood my arm still, it happens again. only 1 or 2 photos i took out of 30 would be a "good" one like photo No.5 , but still not perfect at all...
check out the youtube video clip i uploaded to show you whats the video is like took by this camera...
Thinking this was strange behavior, I gave up .seeing as how I was able to take about 30 clear pictures while manually focusing before, went ahead and closed all apps, changed view modes, changed camera scenes, toggled from video to picture modes, restarted the phone several times and checked for available updates to the firmware. All with no luck.
My current firmware is still 4.1.2, as OTA hasnt arrived in my country NewZealand yet...damn...whats taking it so long.
will the new 4.2.2 fix this or should i just bring it back for another repaire (becuase most likely in NZ,it sux bcz you will not get a replacement straight away after a month) ?

Well these are horrible pics
I'd suggest using the option of touch to focus+snap.
Once you allow this option and you tap the screen it focuses and immediately snaps a photo, in my opinion it brings the best pics.

If that cheer you, gents, I have EXACTLY the same problem. My One was never dropped, nothing mechanically-abusive happened to this dmn phone, lens are crystal-clear - because I use the protective case.
My guess is faulty camera, which gets fckd up after some time of using it.
In my case, camera stopped working after OTA update to 4.3. I would blame the software update, but since so, so many folks have the same issue with totally various firmwares I'd rather go into thinking that this is a hardware failure.
One advice: if you are sure they're gonna give you new device, go for it. However, these bastards often try to "repair" the damn thing, which is of course the worst idea ever - they're never gonna put all pieces together, rather more likely, they will destroy 10 another things along the way.
I got to have to make a call to HTC - if they start talking about "the repair" - fck'em.
I will have to live with broken camera. I once gave the HTC One X, under warranty of course, and they did a mess to the device (squeaky noises while grabbing it, wifi module - broken almost immediately, after "the repair", battery life shorter more than a half than before giving it to "repair" and so on).
So, thanks, but no thanks.
I have the same problem, there isnt a way to repair it by software or something??

Yes. I always drain the first charge till completely shuts off and start analyzing during the next full charge.
The only thing i'm facing after update via PCC is random reboots. Happens twice today.
Might try wiping.
I did also experience extreme power drain after upgrading to KitKat. In my case it was media server that seemed to run constantly. After some investigation and trials it turmed out that there was something on the SD card that did not play well with KitKat. If removed my SD card the power consumption was normal but as soon as I put the SD card in the phone media server started to drain the battery really fast.
I have now formated the SD card in the phone and are putting things back and so far the power consumptiomn seems normal. :cyclops:

+1 bro, I have to agree with you. My battery has actually improved a lot. So far I have had no issues with the update.
as a side note, I see some ppl complaining about the black notification drawer been ugly and too black etc. For me I absolutely love this new look! It didn't work for me, Battery is still being drained at an alarming rate, with "mediaserver" and "media" processes as the main culprits.
This happens only when the SD card is inserted, but all my music and photos are on it. With the SD card, the phone is pretty much useless now, as the battery lasts barely 4 hours in idle mode. This update is simply horrible.
Is there anything else I can do to fix this?

Hi Guys,
I love the Z1, although I started sort of hating it after the kit kat update.
You see the sound now sometimes comes out of the ear piece (the one with the LED notification light) instead of the main speakers.
Is anyone having the same issue?
Were you guys able to do anything to permanently fix it?
A restart provides a temporary fix and then it comes back.
Hope anyone could provide a solution for this.
Thank you.

Mine's still working, I hope it stays like that. :fingers-crossed:
So this issue is a KitKat bug, thought something went wrong with my phone. I noticed this when I was using a video call on WeChat, headset connected to the phone but the sounds is fluctuatingly(?) coming from the headset then speaker (or earpiece) then headset again then speak (or earpiece so on and so forth. Encountered again yesterday when listening to music. Headset is on but sound is coming from the speaker. I hope this will be resolved immediately.
I experienced the same problem after 4.4.2 update as well. I did make a clean install, I even did a full data erase before upgrading, and another full data erase after upgrading via PC Companion.
it occured once to me too hasnt since though
It happened to me again, playing a video on YouTube app.
Although this is annoying, I'll let it go for now.
Obs.: Sony Xperia Z1 C6943, stock KK, unrooted.
Hi guys, tried everything but the problem still persists, so I've decided to downgrade my 4.4.2 back to 4.3, will just upgrade once things have been smoothened out. Kind of disappointing because I think Sony just rushed to deliver this and didn't exactly do a comprehensive bug testing.

It is reported that it does not work for some.
It's happening to me too since the update. It's extremely difficult to hear notifications and ringtone when some called in. Got quite a few missed calls from important business partners. Ah, I hope Sony will fix this fast.
I don't know for sure but I froze the smart connect app and haven't experienced the problem for the last two days. It may be too soon to tell though.

I don't know for sure but I froze the smart connect app and haven't experienced the problem for the last two days. It may be too soon to tell though.

How do you "froze" the smart connect app?
Guys i guess i was right at the first place
I comeback to 4.4 from the start
I flashed xperia ultra firmware which is modified by nut then i put 156 of xperia z1 then i root it and flash recovery on it and then formated every thing except external card, i formated internal memory also. And yes till now received 5 calls there is no problem...
Try it every one

Well, I'm growing tired of my phone lagging like a single core 600MHz Android running Eclair.. Can we just go to the T-Mobile store and tell them to give us a new one (provided we purchased our phones from T-Mobile in the first place) I can't imagine this phone was designed to run this slow.

I would imagine this will be fixed in an update.

Try disabling some of the bloatware?
Can't wait to JUMP from this phone.

Disable dual window and see if that helps. Also enable Force GPU Rendering under developer options. And, of course, disable and remove any bloat you're able to without root.

I think this phone has some aggressive throttling injected. Like configured to opperate with 2 cores even before it starts warming up. Keep in mind that it also has android 5.1 which suffers from poor memory management. we need 5.1.1 update. I find not sense to these multicore CPU Craze when we fall victim of these type of software limitations.

Also, Clean Master is a band-aid (as opposed to a solution). I find it immediately has an impact.
I disable the smart BS from LG. Uninstall everything that can be uninstalled and disable pretty much everything that can be disabled.
Also do Maintenance restarts every few days because of the 5.1 memory issue. Works like a champ.
What really bothers me is that all of the reviews say this phone is really snappy, like hell it is, after you disable all of the installed LG and T-Mobile BS apps.

I've disabled and uninstalled what I could so far. It is better than stock, but still not what it should be.
I'd say for the most part the phone operates fine and doesn't seem to lag at all. BUT WHEN IT DOES... holy sh** ... How an android phone released this year can hang up and lag like this is completely unacceptable. I can see why people choose Iphones. My note 4 never lagged as bad as this one does at times. Literally I'll hit the back button and wait and wait and wait... 30-45 seconds before it responds... I'll be hitting it like 12 times like WTF is going on... it's absurd and unacceptable. In these moments it's worse than a Galaxy S3 ... no lie.
Like I said I am good most of the itme... MOST.. but when it does this (a few times every couple days) it's infuriating.

I think those are international unlocked versions which have less bloat
I'm a 5 day owner and this phone is sluggish... Love the camera, love the call quality and signal quality, but damn is it sluggish.

Yeah that is the only thing that has kept the phone from being returned - the camera is good. That and I am hoping that LG will roll out an update to fix the slowness or someone will release a root exploit so I can do it myself.
I don't get how the phone is sluggish its running fast as ever for me
I had a pretty bad unit. It was very slow and the touchscreen was unresponsive. Tmo sent me a new device and it's working so much better now.

I found that deleting everything in the clip tray ussually is the culprit
Go to developer options and set animation speed to .5 works for me. Now my phone flies like nexus 5

I think you are right. The QSlide calculator was unbearably laggy till I cleared the Clip Tray. I don't use the LG Keyboard, so getting to the Clip Tray frequently is a pain. I'm looking for a shortcut now, but If I can't find one I just use Debloater to block the LG Keyboard.
Thanks!

Usually comes up for me if I press and hold as if I were to paste something. Such as on Tapatalk it gives me the option to either paste or clip tray.
If there's nothing in it. Nothing will show
