Battery health after over a year - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Got the galaxy gear in November 2013. Have used it daily since.
Now 19 months later, battery life has dropped considerably; halfway thorough the day, watch is done... Only doing minor notifications, and turning off wake up gesture didn't help.'
rough estimate would put me at about 400 or so charge cycles on the battery..
Replacement batteries available out there?

I have mine now for little over 1 year and I still get about 2/3 days with 1 charge.
And I also use it daily and receive about 20/30 notifications each day (at least during the week, weekends are less as I use my watch for business email-notifications).
I put it in airplane mode though during the night, as I don't want to wake up because of notifications.
And I have Null_23 installed on my watch.

I searched for the battery replacement of Gear S but couldn't find anything. I have only found that how to replace battery of Samsung Gear S2. There is nothing on Gear S.

Galaxy Gear comes with 2 years warranty. It was released on 25th September 2013 - HURRY UP as you only have 3 days to give it back. Just tell them that the sound is cracking, it's lagging and doesn't even last an hour. It doesn't have to be true - just give it back and they will install new battery. I did that and now my watch last long.

I9000 India (2G) Battery Life

Hey guys,
I bought Galaxy S on Oct 2. In various threads I have seen people say they get 1-3 days on 3G with some gaming and all day active data connections.
In bangalore we have only EDGE(2G) and I use my phone only for calling(15-30mins) and texting(25-30) with some minimal Facebook access....I allow my battery to charge all night and start my day around 8:30 in the morning and my battery doesn't even last till midnight....its somewhere around 20% at night.
is this normal or should I visit the Samsung service center ?
Also can somebody suggest me a good site which ships additional batteries to bangalore ?. I tried spider-foot.com and their shipment has reached me even after 20 days.....
I'm currently in Bangalore too. But my SGS's battery life is most certainly worse than yours... Beginning to wonder if this is a local issue ?
Same issue here.. Blame the Network Quality in India?
Even i faced the issue initially.after one month i find it okay. May be i am consoling myself.
I never felt the advantage of having 1500mah battery.
God bless sgs users
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
when i was in india, i was a heavy SGS user and i did get through the day on a single charge.
i had push updates on for gmail, exchange mail, twitter and facebook. #i never logged in to gtalk though.
half an hour of calls and a lot of browsing....
so from 8 to 6, i would still have close to 40% battery remaining....
The battery on the SGS has some calibration issues or I dont really know, there are times I get good battery life and times I lose 1% per hour of idle, sometimes I reboot my phone I either lose or gain anywhere from 15-30%.. pretty random.. But with 2.1 I had a constant battery life though.
my biggest fear is that now with 3G being rolled out this one day wonder will become a one hour wonder
Come on guys....we pay 28K and dont even get a freaking day of juice!!!
Whats the use a superb device with no power......should have bought the N8 instead.....

HTC Battery Failure

While this is not an issue that's necessarily related directly to the HTC One (but HTC's in general) and since I am considering the purchase of an HTC One, it made sense to post it in here.
Does anyone know of the general failure rate of HTC Batteries? Since the HTC Battery is non-removable, I'm trying to gather some information on failure rates, in order to determine just how risky it could / would be to get a phone with such a drawback (it would be my first phone with a non-removable battery).
Of course this issue would compound itself in complexity if the battery dies after the warranty expires.
Reason I ask this is because my Sammy Note battery died 14 months after purchase and all it took was buying a new batter to get my device back up and running. There would be no such luck with the HTC one
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Batteries are subjective to a lot if things, such as usage, weather, charge cycles etc. Cell phone batteries that can not be replaced by the user can be replaced by the manufateuer, for a fee if course. Most people get 12 to 18 months before needing to replace their battery.

My S2 battery is still ok after 23 months. No need for a removable battery for me. 3 weeks until my One!

Regarding to HTC. . . My One X has lasted since the week of release and still going strong. . . Lasts all day (If im not playing games all the time) and has been charged EVERY night since owned. . . HTC's prior to this i had multiple batteries for... not that they lasted, but because i was such a heavy user, but they still lasted around 2 years each, May still last now but sold the handsets so couldnt tell you. . .

the battery can be replaced its just not easy. when i bought the phone i asked tmobile about the battery and what i could do if it started to lose its charge. they told me that if i noticed any loss of battery i could bring the phone back within 2 years and they would replace the phone for $20 with a new phone. not a refurb but a new one. besides most of the time with phones that have built in batteries they use higher quality ones that dont lose their charge as fast. plus with the battery being sealed the moisture in the air doesnt degrade the battery as fast so they would last longer than a battery that is open to the elements

People exchange their phones within 30 days, they don't exchange them 2 years later and T-Mobile gives them a new phone. Think about what your saying, it makes no sense.

So you just recently brought your s2 in to Tmobile and got a new one? Because the s2 is just about to turn a year and a half old. So you would have had to do it just recently. Sorry, I'm not buying it.
Now if you had said you called 611 within a year of owning the phone or had insurance on the phone then I'd believe you. You get a refurb sent to you and the cost is $5-$20. But walking in to a T-Mobile store a year and a half later and getting a new phone? Nah.

TMobile is effin USELESS when it comes to assisting customers who don't have insurance. My existing BB9900 through work has been dismal in functionality and they blame water damage to screw me out of a replacement on a device that's barely a few months old. I vented in this thread on the Crackberry forums.
Unless you have a family member working in that store who's gonna sneak you out a device from the backdoor, my personal experience with Tmobile makes me wish you good luck in thinking you're gonna get a replacement.

As have I, T-Mobile has been very good to me...I upgraded to the vibrant and then 7 months later they let me get the sensation for $179, after I had just upgraded. (With loyalty, not in store) They did that for me two other times in the 11 yrs I've been with them. Never an issue with them. But policy is policy and walking in to a store after a year and a half and getting a new phone for $20 wouldn't happen without insurance, and that's not even how insurance claims are processed. End of story for me.
How do you still owe money on a 1 1/2 yr old phone????? You know what, never mind....could care less.

Gear live dead on arrival?

I bought a gear live from eBay and it arrived today. It was classed as 'as new' although the box was unsealed.
I tried switching it on straight away but it was completely dead. Tried charging it with included charger but nothing happened even after an hour. Tried my note 3 charger with the cradle and still nothing. Is there anything else I can try or do I just accept this thing is dead send it back?
There are no signs of damage and it looks completely new.
I would think its dead it doesn't take long to charge up the watch

That's what I suspected, thanks
My first gear live worked for 2 minutes...then was bricked for no reason...no charging...nothing. my second one worked for 5 hours. I charged it overnight then the next morning the display was messed up...only displaying every other scan line and making text illegible. Hard reset plus long period of rest did not fix it. Both went back. My third arrives next week. I am assuming flukes since few others are reporting such problems.

That doesn't sound good at all. Shame really as I prefer the Gear live over the lg watch but I'm not really prepared to pay £170 at the moment. got an lg watch yesterday and I'm quite pleased with it so just hoping the guy I bought the Gear live off does the right thing on ebay!

Can't be right

I just charged my phone. But my z3c shows this. Only 1 day & 15 hours. Normally it shows 3 or 4 days.
What can it be?
I hope someone can help me [emoji20]
Seems ok to me
I don't think the battery is very good at all considering its the big ticket item.
It's ok if you don't do anything with it but God forbid you play a game or something.
Add that to the mediocre camera, flimsy construction and penalty for root and I wish we had the same return policy as the USA.

It estimates the battery time based on your battery usage history
What muzab said.
Try with the screen off for halv an hour and check the estimated battery time again.

Sourcing a new battery

Hello everyone,
I've enjoyed this watch even if the battery life sucks since the beginning!! especially coming from the Samsung Gear S3, which has never ever lasted less than a day (24 hours).
Since the last Android Wear 2.0 update, the battery life is even worse, although I doubt it's actually linked, probably just a coincidence, but my watch hasn't make it through the afternoon for few weeks now. Barely 6 hours (with EVERYTHING disable, even bluetooth, in Airplane mode).
As of today, the watch will turn on and turn off few seconds later regardless the battery %.
Lg answered nicely that they would take a look at it, and ask $20 for the diagnostic if I don't want them to process the fix!!! And I read online that the battery replacement is $60. I would rather throw it away...
Anyway, I have 2 questions :
Does someone knows where to source this damn battery (BL-S7)?? Out of stock on ebay
Did someone try to fit a Watch Urbane battery (BL-S6) which is 570mAh instead of 430mAh? Or anyone knows this battery size? (I know the connector is different but at this point it's not the biggest issue )
That could help many people meeting issues with this watch... (I'm done with LG!!)
Thanks!!
Ok, I found the answer to my second question, and obviously bigger capacity = battery battery
the BL-S6 (Urban 2nd G) is about 31x27
the BL-S7 (Sport Watch) is about 28x27
So I'm still interested to know where to buy the BL-S7.
Thanks,
Assuming I can find a BL-S7 battery, how easy is it to strip the watch down to change?
My watch is so random with shutdowns and % battery left remaining I am thinking it is all down to the battery after over 18 months daily usage/charging.
Also interested in this.

Disassembly is fairly easy if you take your time and disconnect the connection points. Nothing is really glued in place aside from the bottom cover and the battery to the rest of the chassis. I was able to get to the battery within 20 minutes.
I was also able to find a battery on ebay. We'll see how assembly goes when it's delivered.
That is great, do you have the link to the battery on ebay?
Did you also have the same issues with random shutdowns, not being able to restart unless on the charger etc?
Keep us posted!
Thanks.
I confirm that disassembling the watch is pretty easy and quick, the only thing is you can say goodbye to the waterproof!
@sirdizzle415, does it come with the sealing? Please keep us updated if it does fix the reboot issue and if can even share the link

I wouldn't trust it to be waterproof anymore, but I'm mostly ok with that. If this watch survives a little while longer with a used $25 battery, I'd call that a win over buying another $300+ watch.
I should be getting the new battery tomorrow, should be pretty quick to put it back together. We'll see what happens.
FYI, My new battery is still in route, so haven't had a chance to test it. It is available brand new on ebay though... If anyone wants to give it a try, the link is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Wa...1e1230fc8:m:mALL_k1FrV1tgtB_vyDJXTg:rk:1:pf:0
Make sure to select the LG-S7 battery for the Watch Sport.
Successful install of the battery! Watch no longer shuts off, and doesn't need to be on the charger to turn on.
I did try to carefully take my old battery apart. Multiple sources mentioned that it can be repaired by soldering a zero ohm link/resistor between two points. I could not identify them on the BL-S7 battery, so I probably won't be doing that.
All in all, it was a $25 dollar battery for me, so not a bad price to pay to extend the life.
I just ordered the one from ebay! That's great it's back in stock!! @sirdizzle415 Yours was a used one?? how did you glue back the back cover?
I know the watch won't be waterproof anymore, but I'm ok with that too.

My existing seal was mostly intact. The back cover also has tabs that snap it back in place.
Placed my order for a new battery.
There is simply nothing else to replace the Sport with LTE currently...unless you like apples.
I just received the new battery!
Results are not so great so far, the watch does stay alive and do not reboot/ shut down randomly anymore.
But after an hour using it to update app, hard reset it, I lost 40%... I didn't charge the battery yet, so I don't want to be pessimistic (yet) but I think my main issue wasn't the battery.
The watch seems too warm to me, probably something wrong with the hardware, other than the battery.
Plus, damn the watch is so slow with the new version of Android wear, so laggy!!
But true there is no better android watch anyway, which is a shame...
It seems that replacing the battery actually fixed the issue! I'm getting now a day and half of battery with only the bluetooth and NFC activated...
The watch is still slow from time to time, I have to tap the screen several time before it actually wakes up.
But for 20 bucks I guess it was the right move.

I think right around this day, I received a Wear OS update that really hurt the battery life... it's been better since, but I definitely remember a day recently when I got an update and battery life was terrible for me.
Just replaced my battery.
Straight forward job, managed to keep the seal in place too.
Watch started up with what little charge was in the new battery, 16%, which is promising, it wouldn't before, and also all the apps /configuration haven't been lost either.
The only disappointment is that the new battery is not actually new.
Okay it may not be used, but it was dated late 2016, actually slightly older than the battery it replaced, early 2017.
See how I get on with it now....
A new battery is a must!
I'm getting a constant 7am until 11pm, 16 hours off cradle, with 50% still remaining, and that is with LTE on all day, including everything else too!
The combination of new battery, and latest firmware updates has just transformed the usage and battery life.
It is a must upgrade!
Hello, I'm from EU, is there any possibility to get new battery now? I looked on eBay and it looks like all are sold out.. :/

Ebay seller when this thread first started sold out, but got more stock later.
Worth pursueing still very happy after changing my battery.
