After updating to Lollipop my phone went through the long process of optimizing apps. Since then occasionally on startup it will do it all over again. This takes upwards of 15 minutes and is a real pain. Is this normal?
Mine does the same thing and I can't figure out how to fix it. If you go into settings> apps>all>system ui and clear the cache it'll reboot normally but after that mine goes back to optimizing apps. Really getting annoying

After updating to FRF91, I notice two things.
1) My phone froze at least 3 times since the update when I tried to make a phone call. I had to remove the battery and restart it.
2) My calls are now less clear even with my blue-tooth. When I call someone, they and I will hear static. Sometimes the static is really bad. (no, I am not holding it the wrong way )
Anyone have similar issues?
My Nexus One is NOT rooted.
stock 2.1 to FRF50(manual install)->FRF83(manual install)->FRF91(OTA install)
No issues here. Clean install.
I would agree it seems buggy to me also; it could be the manual update path of updating, but im def getting some wonkyness.
When im on edge at my house, it always seems like WIFI is on demand and not connected (This differs from what my phone used to do and i also have wifi to never sleep); so when i try to access something intially i get a network error then the Wifi connects; then i connect even though im on edge which used to connect albeit slow.
A slight jerkiness when I longpress to remove widgets; don't remember that one previously.
Very erratic battery life; seems to be due to network switching from 3g to edge to wifi; can't really confirm that though; not real rogue apps on my device that are running, but who knows.
Car dock has been giving some force close issues from time to time which didn't really occur previously.
FRF83 more stable
I was thinking of trying to go back to FRF83 as that seems more stable.
I will first try to do a factory reset and see what happens after that.

let me know how that works out; I may do the same. Maybe go back and ota update.
I applied the full FRF85B when I did mine, and wiped cache / format user data from the boot loader. That cleared up issues.
gmail stopped working properly for me.
I have had some issues with my phone freezing up too but my trackball would still flash when i got alerts. I think it might be related to trackball alert because now that I have uninstalled it i haven't gotten any freezes.
I did the factory reset and I no longer have any problems. I am still waiting to see if my dialing still freezes randomly though.

I'm still on frf83 and found that flashing the frf91 gapps has somewhat reduced the freezes/reboots.
My XDA app freezes for a couple of seconds before it responds. Is this app up to date for frf91?

1. Going into Gmail it takes forever to display emails (usually shows the "loading icon" for 10-20 seconds) as if it is only then connecting to the server and downloading new/old emails.
2. Caller ID still does not keep settings when rebooting.
3. Task Managers don't actually seem to kill tasks anymore. Have tried multiple with settings to auto-kill 10 minutes after the screen goes off ... 5 hours later the programs are still running. Obviously just KILLS battery life.

Yeah, obviously, you're using auto-kill, it probably tries over and over and over when they don't actually close.
Stop using auto-kill. Even if it worked you will get less battery life by killing tasks. Read up about it. Only reason to EVER kill something is if it isn't acting nicely and has a bug that keeps using CPU or keeps the phone awake.
Factory Reset works almost all the time
If you got problems after update you should allways wipe (factory reset)
For those with Droid 3s that love to randomly reboot. and crash/lag
and also crash on camera, here is a fix
1) FACTORY RESET PHONE (Erase all data)
2) When its back up and your signing back in, DO NOT CHECK 'Restore Data' or 'Keep Device Backed up'
3) Open settings later, and ensure they're both unchecked under Privacy
NEVER enable them
4) For safety incase wifi settings were restored:
Go to Wireless and Networks, Wifi Settings, Manage Network Settings, tap first option and itll say 'forget or erase wifi settings' , choose Yes
5) Reboot Phone
*If camera is still not up to your standards, use Camera360 from market.
Should be all fixed up, no more reboots or crashes, and fast.
I guess its a temporary fix until Moto serves an update.
Sucks if you rely on backup to get your apps back, but Titanium Backup is a nice app to backup settings/apps
I have random reboots also, but the strangest thing is that when I shut the phone off I can put it in my pocket or on a table and it will turn itself back on. Was wondering if this would help this as well?
Is it being charged when it turns back on?
Nothing is pressing the power button right
Not sure of your issue would be fixed by this you can try

Hey Guys,
I know this thread is ancient, but I couldn't find anything newer on that topic.
I'm having the random reboot issue since a while now and wondered if you could help me piece together what I've got.
I managed to find a way to provoke the reboots and that is by flooding the RAM. I opened up some random apps (doesn't seem to matter which ones, as long as they consume a lot of RAM) and it crashed rather quickly. I also managed to get a Logcat of that, but it seems pretty normal.
I attached the Logcat-Log of the last 15 sec before the crash.
But sometimes there are reboots that happen when I don't have anything intense running.
Also sometimes (often when I am using rather intense apps) the phone gets stuck with the screen turned off and it essentially acts like dead until I do a battery pull. Sometimes when it does that, it just reboots on its own after a minute or two. That could be what Cglocke might have been experiencing.
I am running an XT860 with System version 5.2.476.XT860.BellMobility.en.CA and Android Version 2.3.6
Does anybody have any ideas on that topic?
Try using rom toolbox to increase the memory management to aggressive

Hey all,
I have done a lot of reading today and have not seen anyone report this issue. I updated to "N910TUVU1ANK4" following the instructions to a T. Over all I am impressed with the speed gain in areas such as the recent apps menu. However, I get a 1/2 to 1 second lag/hang on my interface every 3-4 seconds. This is very noticeable with typing/swiping/tapping.
I can reproduce the issue always by opening document and start deleting the hell out of it by holding the back space. It will hang every 3-4 seconds before continuing.
Another way to always reproduce is going to Settings > Sounds > Touch - and then repeatedly tapping the check box over and over. Again it will hang every 3-4 seconds before continuing.
I did a Nandroid backup restore to the previous build and the issue went away
I then redid the update, again following the instructions, but got the same results even with just the stock install.
Anyone know what might be causing this?
Thanks in advance

Factory reset your devices then download all of your apps again. Something in your app files is hanging up the system. Had the same issue on another device, a factory reset fixed it.

My Galaxy Tab S2 seems to lag for a couple of minutes when I first go to use it. This is after I've left it just on the side for a few hours or overnight (not from boot-up).
When I try to open an app it freezes then a few seconds later it does what it was supposed to do then it freezes again. I force close all but this doesn't really help until I've done it a few times.
I wasn't sure if this was something to do with the built in auto Wifi off so switched that off and it seemed to improve it slightly but it still happens. I tried using some auto WiFi off apps instead but they didn't even work.
After this first couple of minutes it then works fine. I uninstalled all apps and it was ok but it wasn't before long it came back. It wasn't particularly noticeable after any specific app.
Is there a way to analyse what is causing this lag in the background?
I'm experiencing the same problems. I wonder what could be causing this?

I've noticed this for a long time. If you use a system monitor you will notice that the Disk reading will be at 100% for some minutes, leaving the tablet unresponsive.
I don't know how to identify which apps are doing the reading.

First thing I do now is kill all running apps but still get some lag. A persistent app apparently.

Lately my phone is sluggish. When I open an app it is a delay of about a minute and when playing a game it constantly freezes and all apps give a pop up message of the app is not responding to wait or close the app. Is there any way to fix this?
My Moto Z3 Play started doing the same thing. I click on an app and it will take several minutes to register, all kinds of not responding messages (system ui not responding, etc). I tried a factory reset thinking it was a bad app I installed, but after the reset the phone it's still doing the same thing. My Z3 is basically unusable. The fact the phone is doing this even after a factory reset means the issue/bug is tied to a moto or google system app that's not going anywhere after the factory reset.
Edit: I even did a fresh install with a Moto stock rom via fastboot commands and the pre-installed moto and google apps are all freezing (waiting to respond error). This is definitely tied to the latest moto or google app update.
