You can ignore the fact that Google labeled it "Sprint and USC". Many users on XDA report that it works just fine on XT1100.

Yes, I'm sure. And it is using a stock Google image, you can RMA it. No, you do not need to root, but you do need to unlock your bootloader to use the "fastboot flash" command in bootloader. Do not relock bootloader unless you have to RMA it.

Thanks for the swift response. Thing is i wont be able to RMA in any circumstances. i live in Pakistan & Motorola is not officially available in my country & i bought it from grey market. That's why i paid US$800 for 32GB

Someone in the forums said it is possible but never gave me a link to how it's done. Can anyone confirm or deny that there is a way to unlock the bootloader for the Moto X XT1052?
I've done it so it definitely is possible. It's just like for all other models. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a

Are you serious? With the European XT1052 model? I tried already and it said my bootloader cannot be unlocked :/
EDIT: Tried again just now and didn't work.

That's weird as hell. Let me try again. Bought mine from the UK but it's still XT1052 so there shouldn't be any problems.

Yes, dhackers version http://androidhosting.org/Devs/Dhacker29/MotoX/
The ability to bootloader unlock is set generally set by the provider and not the model number of the phone. In North America the AT&T XT1058 can't be bootloader unlocked but several other providers who do sell the XT1058 do allow the bootloader to be unlocked.
I haven't see any official information from Motorola regarding European Moto X's but it is possible they can't all be bootloader unlocked.

They ALL -come- locked. Even the Developer editions come locked from the factory. You must request the code from Motorola to unlock.
If you have issues, re-read the instructions, and TRY A DIFFERENT BROWSER. People have reported success after doing these two things:
1. Copy the "unlock data" from the command prompt/terminal into NOTEPAD, remove the spaces, and then copy the entire string from Notepad into the browser (on Moto's unlock website).
2. Use a different browser! I don't know how many posts I've seen where the user didn't have success on ABC browser, but it worked immediately when using XYZ browser.
Good Luck :good:
Hoping for some help here...
I ordered my nexus 6 from Google Store while it was on sale for the "Father's Day and Grads Sale". I saved $150! I haven't gotten my invite for Project Fi yet, but really wanted to save money on the phone.
Is this handset already UNLOCKED?
Is there a need to ROOT this handset?
Thanks in advance.

You can but if you don't know how to use the official google fastboot method, we'd recommend doing it that way as fastboot knowledge is very handy
FYI, it will be sim unlocked, but the boot loader will be locked.

you can, but I'd recommend doing g it the right way the first time. anyways, bootloader needs to be unlocked, you flash a recovery, then flash SuperSU. when you boot up, you'll have root.
Nexus devices do not come with unlocked bootloaders, they come with unlockable bootloaders. You'll need to unlock it.

what can i do with bootlooped nexus ?
hi all
sorry for my bad English
my nexus is bootlooped and locked , the oem (what the hell is that google?) is not marked , and i've read 4 topic in here and have founded there is no way to fix it
so the only way is : send it for replacement ?
in my country Moto doesn't have any representation and i must send it to another country like France to change it , my question is : does Moto change it for free or do i have to pay for replacement?

If you send first it should be free unless they have a small handling fee. If they send first will put a hold on a credit card for the amount it is selling for now. Will remove charge when they receive the device.

someone with hardly any experience i see. if you have twrp recovery, there is a chance. if you dont have twrp recovery, and you cant boot up to enable oem unlock, then you have no chance. no as in zero chances, no matter how much you disagree.

Doesn't matter if you disagree. In this case you are incorrect.
There is no way to unlock the bootloader of a non-booting device that complains about allowing oem unlock.
My phone came with unlocked bootloader and I want to lock it.
Any guidelines will be much appreciated.
Also how do I reset phone as i can't find any reset option in settings menu and since it doesn't come with recovery i can't even reset it using that.

I'll add my request for you to share how the reset worked, in case any other XDAers would like to do the same.
Thanks
I've managed to reset phone not lock bootloader for the record.
For future reference, if I'm not mistaking, using ADB/Fastboot, you need to use the command fastboot oem relock or fastboot oem lock.
Alternatively, since you're already bootloader unlocked, you can place the device in EDL mode and use the MiFlashTool which has an option somewhere to lock.
I'm amazed nobody really answered this. I'll post the process later as I plan on relocking mine in order to be able to use Android Pay.

Samsung Pay isn't available for our device. If you installed it from an APK, I am more than positive it will not work since itost likely needs to be embedded into the system on a Samsung device. In short, it's a Samsung thing.

Update:
Tmo is unlockable
Sprint is unlockable
ATT is NOT
Verizon is NOT (Shocker!)
So I just got my phone and the very first thing I did was unlock the bootloader! It's very very easy..
1. Enable Dev Options and enable OEM unlock as well as USB debugging. If you don't know how to do that, what are you doing here? ?
2. Goto: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
3. Agree to all the fun stuff then sign into your Motorola account. I used the handy sign in with Google button. Download and install the Motorola drivers as Motorola uses there own fastboot driver for some reason.
4. Open a command window and type adb reboot bootloader
5. If you have ever unlocked a HTC bootloader this will be easy for you. Put in the command it tells you into a command prompt then copy the entire string.
6. There is a option on the website that lets you paste it and it automatically cuts the unnecessary stuff out for you.
7. Paste the new string into the box, agree to the terms and in about 5 min you will get a email with your unlock code
8. Type fastboot oem unlock ^paste your code here^
9. You should receive a message saying your bootloader was unlocked.
10. Restart bootloader and confirm!

This is awesome news! I went back to best buy and ended up getting one through AT&T, currently typing on it now. I'm hoping the process will be as straight forward with the AT&T model. I'll give it a go when I get home and report back.

I got my T-Mobile Z2 Force and was easily able to unlock the bootloader using the same method thru Motorola website. I was also able to confirm that "TWRP 3.1.1 albus" for Z2 Play does NOT work on this phone, it just freezes. For the love of god please someone get this phone rooted so I can delete all the startup crap and have a clean phone. Thank you in advance.

It looks like we don't need custom recovery to install Magisk root anymore. The biggest problem now is that we don't have a kernel image for our current roms. Moto still hasn't released kernel source for the Moto Z2 Play yet so I'm not super hopeful about getting ours anytime soon. Betting we don't get it until after Android O is available.
