[Sprint-LS991] RDF Discussion
ZV5 Update in the works!
http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS991-SPRINT/latest
Could you elaborate? This looks interesting, but I'm way ignorant as to what RDF or ZV5 is? When I clicked on your list it was a wall of text mushed together, so I wasn't sure what to make of it.

RDF is what Sprint uses to publish software versions and updates. Currently our phones are running software version ZV4. The latest update on the RDF site shows ZV5. We should expect an update within the next month or two.

RDF's will not display correctly in most browsers. If you open the link in Internet Explorer on a PC you will actually be able to view it without it all being jumbled together. Like the OP said this is how you know Sprint is working on an update.

No but I hope I do and it fixes the touch issues...have you noticed a difference?
To be honest I have only had the phone for a week. I didn't really experience any touch screen issues before the update that I could tell, sorry.

@neogeo64
Updates are part of this OP.
Thanks
I've had mine since launch. I hope it is a software issue so it can be fixed with an update. Other than this issue I love the phone.
What's up fellow Sprint users.
The update today is the ZV5 update. at least that is what shows up in my Software Version now. "LS991ZV5"
Just bug fixes, according to the LG rep.(Quick toggle bug is still there.)
I also received a network update today. Had to restart my phone. Anyone know what that was all about?
What's up? Nice to finally see a Sprint forum. Hope to hear some good news soon! This being my first LG device, I gotta say I like what I've been seeing so far. Not perfect but what new phone is?

Where when I go to landscape mode it cuts off one of the toggles and when I restart the phone, the Wifi calling toggle appears.(Not sure about that one.)

Hey are they ever going to release an official facebook app for our phones from the website like they do with the iphone and blackberrys?
Interestingly, rumors started flying around the internet yesterday/today about Facebook possibly releasing an official app. I don't make it a habit to post new threads based on rumors, but you can read some info about this here:
http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/07/2...k-and-google-work-together-on-an-android-app/
http://news.google.com/news/more?pz=1&cf=all&ncl=dZCKUtSuPS9aQTMWoeUeRsnoXR0LM
If the rumors are true, we'll find out shortly.
yea, not supposed to be as "full featured" But i guess rumors are saying as soon as this week
I cant wait.
Well, lets examine the evidence here and see what we can devise:
-Facebook just opened up their mobile shop for TMO users after years of screwing us over.
-TMO has been talking rumors of an official facebook app to be launched alongside the sherpa release when the MT3g comes out.
-The MT3g comes out next week.
So I'd say odds are pretty good.

Mid august or a few more days really does not make a big difference. G1 users have been waiting for a good facebook app since we got our phones 9 months ago. its just hope that when it gets here, it'll deliver on what most of us are looking for.
Check this: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Android

Have you tried Babbler? The pay version is better, but this one works just fine.
Everything you need but inbox (which, apparently the official one won't support anyways).

well, now we know its coming for sure. all we gotta do is wait.
screens look slick although i had to zoom in.
widget looks cool too.
been using x.facebook.com and holding out for an official facebook app
I am really looking forward to trying this app. I dont even care if its a paid app. I was mega excited when I first tried Babbler and the same with Bloo. This app looks like it will work as expected with likes, replies and what not, I just hope they throw a few 'nice touches' into the app, and include things like photo uploads and tagging.
I must agree the widget does look kinda cool. I just hope it doesnt drain the battery like twidget.
Until then...
Has anyone else seen a problem with bringing up facebook comments through the email alerts if theyre sent to your phone? I click on the links in the email alerts in gmail and it takes me to the person's mobile profile for some reason. It used to take me to the desktop version page so i can see the comments, but its been forwarding to the mobile site
Well it looks like slowly android is coming around. If we get a good facebook app, and turn by turn nav, I might just keep this phone for a while, Yaaa.

I heard somewhere that Garmin was making an Android app, but don't quote me on that
edit: also there is already turn-by-turn nav for the G1. google "telenav". engadget says it is pretty snappy. been around since february.
Garmin making a sat nav would be brilliant! Cannot find telenav on the UK market can someone confirm its there?

Yeah, just watched the video and the toggle is missing. It's unfortunate about the booster. I'm genuinely surprised they took it out. Oh well, not that big of a deal.

Dude, thanks for the review but for future reference people don't want to hear you rambling on and on stating the OBVIOUS, such has where the volume rocker is or the fingerprint sensor. We want NO commentary and just a video of how the device performs. You could have mentioned that download booster is MIA.

Why are you surprised? I'm not. We all knew it was gonna happen. They just don't want people on the network. Download booster encourages that.

I think I'm more surprised that Samsung let them take it out. I figured since it's basically a top selling point, they wouldn't budge on the issue...but I guess I was wrong. It's a shame how carriers get to dictate features on a device. It's bad enough we have manufacturers doing that to begin with, but then carriers adding to it is definitely annoying.

Yep. I already blasted them on their Facebook page. I urge everyone to do the same. We are denied a major feature because we're with AT&T. This is getting so ridiculous! They need to keep their hands off our devices already.
Great review rodger, thanks!
One question: does it have the feature like the Moto X to wake into S Voice or Google Now with the screen off? I saw it works when you're on the home screen but would love if it was listening even with the screen off

As mentioned before this had been there since release LAST year. I don't see how this not being included would have changed your perception of what crap is. I'd ask but you would probably only list 1 or 2 things with any other listing still being a problem in KK.
This game is very addicting. I keep borrowing my dad's Nexus 5 just to play it.

I had several problems with LP not present in KK:
- bluetooth not working properly with car
- when the call screen is minimized, sometimes LP won´t end the call after pressing END
- loss of signal quality (much worse radio, might be related to the bluetooth problem)
- audio notifications at night used to be disabled in KK. Now, with LP, I have do turn wi-fi & 4G off at night so the phone won´t disturb me with notifications
- after 2-3 calls, I have to reboot the phone, because the call after that will be completely silent
Again, none of these problems existed before.
I didn't know this so thank you OP. I think the new feature that concerns me most is the addition of Interruptions to the notifications/sound profile. I like my alarm going off even know I put the phone on silent. :/

How many of these whining threads do we need? Why not just join the whine fest in any of the dozens that already exist?
Yeah its not forgotten, most of the F,C,H etc variants don't officially have it either if you look at things by region code. They have released to only a few specific regions...
Beside from looking at some of the lollipop threads there are still issues with current builds, such as the lack of silent mode. Xposed doesn't yet work on lollipop TouchWiz roms either and is still in alpha on AOSP roms.
I think I'd rather be on 4.4.4 for another month or two, get a better release, and hopefully working xposed than be one of the test regions and have a degraded experience on my phone.
I don't get the point at all. It's just wasting all XDA users time to come in and read the post and comments. Please don't do this again, you're actually wasting not only your own time, other also the others. Thanks

Isnt it strange how quite a few of the carrier models have managed to get the upgrade before the N910U international unbranded model (mine is unbranded anyway) not whining Im just saying.
Also the U model desperately needs the update to fix the dreaded call answer volume spike, come on SS at least provide a patch to fix that, you've already updated ROM 5 times and not fixed quite a few bugs, better be saving the best until last!

I mean, its pretty obvious nothing is coming out this week, but maybe someone has heard about another release date?
Maybe it depends on how the Urbane sales are going. If they are slow we might have to wait even longer for the update so they can carry on pushing it as the only LG watch with WiFi!!!!!

That is true, however they explained this in May so that people won't get confused:
“LG Watch Urbane is the only wearable device Currently shipping with the latest version of Android Wear OS and is Wi-Fi capable out of the box. The original LG G Watch was not designed with Wi-Fi in mind and will not have this capability even after the Android Wear update. LG G Watch R will require a maintenance release after the patch update to Android Wear-access Wi-Fi networks. LG engineers are preparing the patch now for availability in the third quarter.”

I'm gonna wait myself. I don't rush updates anymore. I have found the old adage "be careful what you ask for" to be spot on with it comes to Android updates over the past year or so.

Just got an OTA - I was surprised to find a WiFi section in the settings menu. Should be working fine, I haven't tested it yet. Build number is LCA44B.
Still nothing in northern California.
