I recently made the switch from HTC to Samsung as it looked like Samsung slightly won the battle this round. The only thing I miss about my HTC phone is the ViperOne Rom. ViperOne was packed with amazing features, customization options, good with the battery and still ran smoother than my Edge's stock software. So the question is... Are there/will there be any Roms that even put a fight up against everything that Viper Roms have to offer? Thanks for the help!!
just switched from having 3 htc phones in a row as well. I know how u feel. Missing Viper Roms to. Xtrestolite Deodexed unified ROM is the only thing even close that we can flash right now.

Yea exactly the same boat for me. I saw that Xtrestolite*rom. Is it stable? My biggest pet peeve is glitchy roms lol.
I haven't had any problems so far. Runs fast and smooth.
Sorry for noob question but can I flasg that rom on the att version without issue?

Xtrestolite rom? yeah, kinda funky while using aroma but it does work.
not the 2.1 version but 1.5. the 2.1 is for android 5.1.1 which we dont have yet
I relate to this. I miss ViperOne. I keep having memory leak issues with my s6e. I need to restart it so often for it to function properly. I wish viper would do something for our phone. I'll take a look at Xtrestolite. I also hate that I cannot unlock hotspot.

Hi im going to root my nexus one with the Universal Androroot 1.5.3 app.
Basically i need a custom rom that is very stable, fast.
I would like to try out sense UI, The roms for sense ui that seem possibilites are Evils Q&D port of sense and Kingklicks. Which one of those would be better?
IF i dont like sense i would like to try one of these roms, either cyanogen mod 6 or enothmers. Which one would be better and more reliable between those 2?
As you can all probably tell im a noob with all these custom roms and rooting.
Im currently on stock android 2.2.
I rooted yesterday and installed CM6 and love it. Can't tell you about the other Roms though.

I bought mine rooted already with LeoFroyo rom, works perfectly so far and I think it checks for updates automatically but don't know about others and I also would like the suggestions...
I am rooting a buddy's Hero and am looking for the most stable rom. Back when I had my Hero, I used Fresh but can't seem to find that any longer, that portion of his site is down. Any other suggestions? I am looking for something faster than stock but doesn't have to be hyperspeed. The Rom also doesn't need to be full of bells and whistles. Please help, I have been on an EVO since the end of February and this Hero stuff is all new to me again
Sigh....

The newest ROMs that are working great thanks to all the developers are:
Wildhero
Jaybobs 2.3 with a few tweaks
Hero Deck
iHero if u want the iPhone icons
All these people are Hard working so just take the time to read carefully before asking noobish questions that might get ignored or may get smart-alic answers.
I've gotten all of them to work but I got attached to hero deck for its stability. But I have my spare hero on wild sense for my daughter to use as game, music and movie device

Best of luck

yea i use kush rom also along with jaybob kernel sept10, trying out the juwe optimization instead of the v6 script
I wouldn't recommend iHero if you want a full English ROM.
im running teamheroc's latest 2.3.7 rom its very quick, team hydras new 3.5 sense rom is awsome but still in testing i think(correct if wrong). pretty much any rom that is stable is going to be faster than stock without a lot of user tweaks.
i flahed a few roms here but dont really like the end result.. Is there a rom thats close to stock minus all the bloatware? I dont really need any mods maybe just the tethering (apn) but other than that theres nothing i really need.
Wildchild's roms
i will stick to the sense 3.0 version the 3.5 is still buggy but very usable

Wild Child created a stock rom with a few tweaks:

I have been using the latest Wild Child's 3.5 roms with great experience. He has done a terrific job develope this rom to run smoothly. I have my cpu set at 1836 and the performance is just awesome. Battery life improves as well. I would recommend it.
If you prefer sense 3.0 then flash wild child's 3.0 rom...just as stable as 3.5
I second wild child's 3.5 rom. Very stable. Have had zero bootloops since installing. Jus be sure and load the boot.IMG that is inside the provided zip file. A lot of people have post bootloops but did not properly install. Jus follow instructions and you will be very happy with the results.

As far as I am concerned, the ICS and JB ROMs are not feature-complete enough to run as a daily driver yet.
I really like Minimoto myself (it's in the developer forum here.) Others that are feature-complete and run well are Maverick 4.0 and 4.5, Steel Droid 4.8, as well as Liberty 2.0. The issue with Liberty, and it's a minor one, is that it is not based on the latest 5.7.906 firmware. Otherwise, I think it runs well.
I really think it's best to install custom ROMs with Safestrap. The latest version of Safestrap is 3.0.5, which is listed as beta and has the occasional annoyance of not starting up when you want it to (it usually does if you keep at it, or start the phone while holding the "M" key, using VolDn to scroll down to "BP Tools" in the menu that pops up, and VolUp to select that option.) Also, if you do want to try Liberty, it will not start in Safestrap 3.0.5, so you'll have to use version 2.10 instead.
There are some JB ROMs to try from Hashcode that require Safestrap 2.10 or 3.05, but I haven't tried them myself.
Safestrap: http://blog.hash-of-codes.com/
steel droid 5.6 works well
---------- Post added at 05:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:52 PM ----------
I've been running AOKP JB, with the new sensors update,
works well, but no camera,
with safestrap, camera is only a reboot away
Liberty is the most stable ROM I've seen yet. Minimoto is very nice though and is very stable but has the best battery life of any ROM around.
+1 for Minimoto, so far one of the best stable stock based roms I've used. With alot of useful features and tweaks.

Yep really liking it so far. Just a few tweaks from being the fastest/best battery life rom out there
Minimoto
Minimoto is the most stable rom I have used that maintains custom features
thanks guys ill definitely look into these, i like stock it isnt a bad system i just like ics a lot better lol
My vote is for MiniMoto. I replaced stock with it and have not looked back. Stable and easy on the battery, super fast, super smooth, the launcher is my favorite, no need for Supercharge, just WOW.

Any of the new is roms work well except for camera so if you live with that then you're fine. There are also some small issues and bugs

Are the GB-based ROMS better than the ICS/JB-based ROMs in terms of general performance (responsiveness to touch, lag, etc..)? I tried the CM10 ROM and its performance was even worse than CM10 on a Samsung Galaxy S

Minimoto does good but the reason why is the governor is set to performance on CPU0 but not CPU1. But I'm not complaining.
This is another variant of those best rom threads - I forsee an argument coming up soon !
Op better realise that your query is highly subjective !
Thread closed. Best/most stable ROM threads aren't allowed as they're too subjective, you'll receive lots of differing opinions on the same thing. Only way is to try yourself and find the one that fits you best as that's what these forums are about.
Thanks AvRS.
What roms are you guys running and/or what would you recommend? What are your opinions on them? I am currently using Rapture.. Its not a bad rom at all but I believe its not giving me the battery life I want..
You want battery life go with poprocks rom. Cleaned up version of touchwiz and if you use greenify it adds a lot more.
AOSP i think cyanogemod would be the best, but i had problems in the past with cyanogen so i'm rocking with pop. give it a try.
Project Infinity
I'm running teks tekxodus and it's amazing. At first I was sceptical of all the theme mods done to it since they're usually the kind of mods that effect performance but it's the first lollipop rom I've been able to get 5 hour sot easy. That's also with xposed installed and app settings with my dpi at 480. I'm finally content with lollipop again not to mention the cool themes I can use now
If you don't follow the devs instructions then u can try another rom and when the same thing happens then you have to finally admit it is you that might be the issue. If a dev wants clean install and you dirty flash u can't complain.
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Can't go wrong with Poprocks.

I do miss the stock Samsung features, camera and s health especially, but after getting the speed of cm, I couldn't go back lol.
Im just started trying out darthstalker rom
I am using @TEKHD 's TEKXodus N4 URv3.3 and it really is an amazing piece of work. It is a very customized rom with lots of features but at the same time, it doesn't feel customized. Meaning it feels like this is how the phone should have been released which is an amazing thing. If you want to feel like you are installing a brand new rom that is different from stock but at the same time feel comfortable with everything, give it a try. After you are on it for a bit and get used to everything, you won't be able to go back to stock.

I'm a big fan of the Stock Deodexed rom. All the samsung features work great, with the flexibility to run xposed and theme and tune touchwiz to your liking.

Just thought I'd share (again) lol.
I'm currently running Miui 7 on my Canadian Note 4. Runs like a charm and it its a fresh new look and feel to the Android I love lol.

Currently on TEKXodus N4 URv5 for my N910T. Closely waiting for URv6.x to settle down before upgrading.
Running [5.1.1][N910TUVU2DOK2][N910T/W8][N910T3] N5 Express 2.5D. I feel like my battery life has regressed since the 1.x version which was based on the Sprint 5.1.1 ROM, but it's still acceptable. I've been too busy with life to really try troubleshooting it (clean reflash) or to try any other ROMs.
