Google Play Servicee FC - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been using amplify + myandroidtools combo to optimize the battery life. Everything was perfect until yesterday. Though I've not altered any wakelocks or alarms related to location services, I've been getting FC whenever I use High accuracy or battrry saving mode. Device Only works fine. But some of the apps I've strictly use High Accuracy Mode. i tried disabling amplify and restoring my androidtoils still problem persists. A serach on forum tells me this is commom problem for 4.4 roms. But as it was working fine earlier, I would like to regain that functionality. Been using play services 7.5.74. Any Suggestions?
P.S. Wiping Cache solves problem for few hours. But it comes back.

After you restored myandroid tools , did you reboot?
Also, did you try to clear data of google play?

If you wipe data of google play store, then you just need to add your Google account again.

Bad battery life after KitKat upgrade - Solution

You've probably seen a ton of complaints on the bad battery life after KitKat upgrade. Google Services is seen at 90+% in battery stats, and the battery is discharging very quickly.
Factory reset is reported to cure the problem. Many are disabling Google Location services. There's also a workaround suggested by Sony, to disable backup and interest-based ads, or uninstall the latest Google Services.
[edit Jul-1-2014]
New Google Play Services 5.0 is now out, and its APK can be downloaded and installed just by searching for it in Google. It's reported to cure the problem for some, temporarily or permanently. It's recommended to try it first, before going with the suggestion below.
[previous post contents starting here]
However, there's no need to resort to the above, a much "lighter" solution may work. I've attempted it on my father's ZR and it worked.
Thanks to grim_ripper for mentioning steps that I forgot.
What needs to be done:
1. Go to Settings / Security / Device Administrators, disable Android Device Manager, if enabled.
2. Go to Settings / Apps, disable Google Play Services. It'll ask you to uninstall all updates, agree to it. After disabling it, some of other phone services might crash. Don't mind it.
3. This step might not be required according to the feedback from grim_ripper, however I'll list it "just in case": press "Clear data", or "Control data usage" and then "Clear all data". Make sure that in the Google Play Services app page, it's listed as disabled and has 0kB data usage.
4. Re-enable Google Play Services. Hangouts will immediately ask for its upgrade, get into Google Play Store and upgrade it.
5. Reboot the phone. You should see no crashes at this point.
6. In case you want Android Device Manager to function - go to Settings / Security / Device Administrators and enable it.
That's it, Google Play Services battery usage will be back to normal, and battery life seems even improved over JellyBean.
[edit Jul-13-2014]
The fix might stick for some, and some will find the battery drain coming back after several days. I'm over a month with it, and everything is still fine. However, the results are mixed.

I confirm that this works, I didn't even clear data.Just disabled android device manager, uninstall google play services, enabled android device manager, re-install play services and finally reboot
Thank you, I completely forgot about Android Device Manager blocking the app disable. With your permission, I'll update the instructions.
I have just tried that thing you posted, will see how the results are in a few days.
One thing I noticed after upgrading to KK is night time for about 8 hours the battery drains 10% while in JB 4.3 it drains about 20% or more.
But the usage draining is similar to JB in KK. Will see if this thing works. Don't like to go to barebones CM11 cause I will be missing on the many features of the phone.
Let's see
It s working here too!
At first, I didn't even thought I had a problem but I looked in the processes and saw this f... Google service running.
Now my batterie last even better than when I was on 4.3.
Thanks

No Problem. I found out that this method only works as long as you don't reboot the phone after the fix, otherwise you'll need to do the whole process again. Mine went well until I waited till my battery was fully discharged before charging, hence forcing a reboot which play services started misbehaving again
I just realized a new battery drain problem, the Xperia social services keeps draining my problem

Oh yes, I have all these disabled. Perhaps this is why I had to restart the phone a couple of times already (changing SIM cards back and forth), and the original Google Services problem didn't come back.

I confirm that it works. At least for a week or so - after that the GogglePlayServices problem appeared again....
Dont helps in my case too.
At first it seems that it works, but after a day the google services are again over 75 prozent or so.
Thinking of going back to 4.3 or hoping that a fix will come soon.
Is it necessary to factory reset after update to kit kat to encounter the battery drain problem?
I had these problems and the only save cure is to disable the location services. Some times you would think a solution helps but stucked with an empty Phone suddely is a bad thing.

Is something known of a fix from Google for the google services?
I ask cause since yesterday evening the akku works normal in my case. Dont see the google services as first in line of accu consumption like before. Seems that everything works fine again.

After I disabled the location service I see the android system in the second line. And the google services almost at the bottom line. The battery usage still not very good.
Been through several reboots by now, everything enabled, location is used, the problem didn't return, on both mine and my father's phones.
The only thing worth noting is my phone configuration - not rooted, STAMINA mode disabled, Low battery mode disabled, Queue background data disabled, Location-based WiFi enabled.
Waiting patiently for the next Sony update.
OK, the method seems to be obvious.
Does it need to be repeated after every reboot?
I also do not understand why installing the latest Google Play (after removing it the way it is written here) is not bringing the problem back .
Thanks anyway.
By the looks of it, the issue might be caused by user data being present already in Google Services since before the KitKat upgrade, but this is some type of data that's not necessarily present once it's deleted. Maybe some sort of duplication / overloading of data from multiple places, and this changes the order of loading.
one word: AMAZING
after this all the lagging of UI and keyboard is removed.
I was intending to install CM11, but after this fix I think I will stay with stock ROM
Ok this worked well for a couple of days including the UI lag fix but now Play services is destroying my battery again. I'm fed up with my ZR (Bluetooth issues and all) Just ordered a Nexus 5 yay!

New Google Play Services 5.0 is out, if it didn't reach you yet - you can install it. It stops the battery drain.

[Q] No sound during call (even if speakerphone is on)

Additionally no one can hear me on the other end.
This strange issue started happening this morning. I have tried a hard reboot.
I've confirmed that I can still play music (from Google Play Music), and when I end the call it makes the regular *beep* noise.
Running stock Android.
Any assistance in fixing this issue is greatly appreciated.

Clear Play services and Google Services Framework data and restart.
Hard factory reset—including apps, data and settings—seemed to do the trick. Leaving thread open in-case someone find the actual [specific] fault.
Thanks, clearing those caches worked (when the issue reacurred today)
That didn't work for me, but I read on a S4 forum to clear the cache and Dalvik cache then reboot, and that worked for me.

For me all works now with latest services
To solve the gms problem do this:
Go to play store and search for "disable services"
Install it and Browse to Google play services (in system or after self autoupdate in data)
Only disable the checkinservice .
Reboot and till now all Works
thx goes to n0j0e he found it out .
The problem recurred a few times, however today the cache clearing solution didn't work. Also tried the two new solutions. The new apk said it was already installed, the service change said I needed root privileges.
solution
My friend and I both have HTC m7. This happened to us both over the last few days. Just go to settings, about, search for updates. There is an update that will resolve this issue. TaTakes about 15/20 minutes in total to install.
no update for me. im running stock developers edition.
No update for me either
My phone fixed itself this morning and has been working all day. Seems like HTC and Google have sorted it out?
Unfortunately the problem is still present on my end
And of course this morning it's back. Clear data for Google services framework and reboot and the problem clears itself. I suppose I'll just use the check in service block ... I had hoped it was more widespread; such that it would be acknowledged in a more direct manner.
They released an update [in Australia] to fix the problem: https://www.facebook.com/HTCau/posts/1021488754545014
Solved (Probably)
Today I've tried to chat with the HTC operator and he tell me to reboot the phone using Vol+ and Power pressed more than 12sec.
For now its work for me, I hope this could be useful also to all.
I just have to say, the fix provided by Viper team is working beautifully. Thank You to the Devs who have created such a fantastic ROM.

[Q] Missing Flashlight

My wife has an ATT nexus 6 stock rom and unrooted. I recently installed an over the air update. Ever since then the icon for the flash light app in the notifications area and the one to swap the cameras in the camera app have gone missing. A search of Google and these forums turned up nothing. Any ideas?
Try a simple reboot, this has happened to me before and rebooting usually fixes it.
Rebooted several times, wiped the cache partition, even performed a full factory reset. Issue still persists.
After the factory the camera app does not even show up in the app drawer. Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Only option in the play store was to uninstall. So I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Now the application show back up but I am back to the original problem. The camera is stuck on front facing and there is no way to switch it. Between that and the flashlight not working it acts like it is not recognizing the camera/led on the back of the phone.

possibly a hardware issue then, especially if you cant switch from front facing, and an issue with the flash. id try to get it rma'd.
The odd thing is it worked flawlessly until the OTA update.

you can try flashing the factory img, not a factory reset. as a factory reset will keep whatever bugs are already around. a factory img flash might help you.

A Problem with Google Play Services

I am using CM11 Rom right now and, I am encountering an annoying problem with Google Play Services. Every time I turn on Location settings in high accuracy or battery saving mode, A message saying "Unfortunately, google play services has stopped" keeps popping up until I turn the location settings off again. I tried clearing data and cache for Google Play Services but it doesn't work. I tried removing and reflashing it and I tried other Roms but, with no change. How can I solve this?

Google play store problem

Does anyone have problems downloading with google play??
The problem happened around 3 days ago. I was trying to download something when it said "connection timed out, please try again after some time". After a few hours still I cannot load google play nor download anything
I have tried all the solutions possible for google play, service and framework ( clear cache, uninstall updates, remove accout, reboot, clear dalvik) but the connection only works in the beginning then after like 2 mins then "connection timed out" again appears.
For sure my internet connection is strong and I'm sure my ISP is not blocking google play because I can access it via web. What's weird is when I use a VPN, google play all of a sudden works flawlessly.. can anyone help me in diagnosing where exactly is the problem?
I have the same exact problem on my galaxy note 8!. My Google play store won't load anything if I'm on Wi-Fi or on cellular Data!!
But with the VPN it works!
I had a similar problems. I got the Samsung Disconnect Pro app when it was free. I installed that then had the same problems. Turned it off and everything was good. After a day turned it on and now working correctly.

Try looking at your power options, it might be sleeping wifi (im presuming it happening on wifi). The VPN thing might solve it cause VPN usually does not sleep wifi properly

It's not something that turns up on the battery saving list, it's a power saving feature
under
Settings-->Connections-->Wi-Fi-->Advanced (top right hand corner menu)
make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to always
if i recall moderate battery saving will switch this off

I had this exact same issue on my note 8. I blame the smart switch app on these issues. I usually always do a fresh install but this time tried to be fancy and tried that. After doing a fresh install and not using any backups my phone is flawless. I know its annoying going that route but trust me it works and you will have peace of mind.

Nothing.
Anyway thanks for the inputs guys, I found the culprit and it has to do with an app I downloaded and installed outside the playstore coz it was not available in my country. Once I uninstalled it the playstore came back to normal.

ok long shot but try going into
Connections-->Wi-Fi-->Advanced (menu on top right)-->Wi-Fi control history
to see if there are any apps messing with your wi-fi
Thank you... the history is clear there is nothing. But that's probably because I keep restarting the phone. Now the Google play store home page won't even load
