[Q] No sound during call (even if speakerphone is on) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Additionally no one can hear me on the other end.
This strange issue started happening this morning. I have tried a hard reboot.
I've confirmed that I can still play music (from Google Play Music), and when I end the call it makes the regular *beep* noise.
Running stock Android.
Any assistance in fixing this issue is greatly appreciated.

Clear Play services and Google Services Framework data and restart.

Hard factory reset—including apps, data and settings—seemed to do the trick. Leaving thread open in-case someone find the actual [specific] fault.

Thanks, clearing those caches worked (when the issue reacurred today)

That didn't work for me, but I read on a S4 forum to clear the cache and Dalvik cache then reboot, and that worked for me.

For me all works now with latest services
To solve the gms problem do this:
Go to play store and search for "disable services"
Install it and Browse to Google play services (in system or after self autoupdate in data)
Only disable the checkinservice .
Reboot and till now all Works
thx goes to n0j0e he found it out .

The problem recurred a few times, however today the cache clearing solution didn't work. Also tried the two new solutions. The new apk said it was already installed, the service change said I needed root privileges.

solution
My friend and I both have HTC m7. This happened to us both over the last few days. Just go to settings, about, search for updates. There is an update that will resolve this issue. TaTakes about 15/20 minutes in total to install.

no update for me. im running stock developers edition.

No update for me either

My phone fixed itself this morning and has been working all day. Seems like HTC and Google have sorted it out?

Unfortunately the problem is still present on my end

And of course this morning it's back. Clear data for Google services framework and reboot and the problem clears itself. I suppose I'll just use the check in service block ... I had hoped it was more widespread; such that it would be acknowledged in a more direct manner.

They released an update [in Australia] to fix the problem: https://www.facebook.com/HTCau/posts/1021488754545014

Solved (Probably)
Today I've tried to chat with the HTC operator and he tell me to reboot the phone using Vol+ and Power pressed more than 12sec.
For now its work for me, I hope this could be useful also to all.

I just have to say, the fix provided by Viper team is working beautifully. Thank You to the Devs who have created such a fantastic ROM.

Could you link to the Viper fix at all please?

It seems to be Google now. I uninstalled updates & launched Google search, after I get results if i press home button or screen of the phone shuts down.
Well I have reset the phone & installed my apps again & the same thing is happening.
Not sure which app could be causing the problem.
I'm slowly loosing interest in this phone. I really liked it but now it's becoming a pain in the ass.

Well, it seems like you're the only one with this issue; thus it must be some sort of defect. Call up your service provider/moto to get a replacement.
Personally, I think no other phone (even the new htc one) comes close to the satisfaction I get using the Moto X. Best of luck with whatever you do with your phone!
Well I didn't solve this problem. It only occurs on the Moto x.
So I've resigned it to scrap heap.
Lesson learn't. No more Motorola for me.

I fail to see how this is Motorola's fault. You probably had an app or setting interfering with Touchless Control.

Well, I had a similar issue, except the phone would shut off after saying my password. (It will prompt you to say or type your password if you have one set). I forget what the problem was(I think it was something to do with a combination of immersive mode, windowed apps, and altered DPI settings) but even after uninstalling & wiping it still persisted. I ended up having to wipe the device & start over to get rid of it. So, there's that.

SystemUpdateService always on

Hi all,
I just installed cm-11-20140609-SNAPSHOT-M7-galaxysmtd.zip and I have a big problem with SystemUpdateService which is always on and draining my battery. The phone will not go in deep sleep, it will just stay awake.
I tried all of the following:
1. Installed Disable Service and went on to disable SystemUpdateService, but it was already disabled.
2. Installed Autorun Manager and went on to disable com.google.android.gsf.update.SystemUpdateService$Receiver. but it was already disabled
3. I copied FOTAkill.apk in the System folder with RS Root Explorer and restarted, but the problem kept persisting
The only way to stop is is to disable GoogleServiceFramework, which will cause my phone to display the "unfortunatelly google play has stopped" error now and then, which is annoying and just a crude fix to the problem.
Does anybody know what else I could do?

Doesn't sound pretty, but how did you do this? Still better than running out of battery halfway through the day, I'd guess.
pryerlee: WLD says exactly that - Google Play Services -> SystemUpdateService, for me currently 4h23m, being 100% of the time - plus it says "x2" (what's that precisely?)

I did all of the options, the service is closed yet it was still running.
I compromised and installed Paranoid Android 4.4.2 and the problem is no more.
So just trying stuff without any deeper thoughts, I just did two things, locked the phone afterwards and now the wakelock seems to be gone:
1. I enabled SystemUpdateService using Disable Service App, which had already been disabled when we first looked.
2. I looked into the CM update function, where - having selected all stable releases - nothing was showing and refreshing didn't work. Got the idea to look into Disable Service App again, and found that UpdateCheckService of CyanogenMod-Updater was disabled. Enabled it, refreshed CM updater, got a list of stable releases.
My beginner's guess would be #1 did it - but why was #2 even an issue in the first place?
Running CM 11 M7 Snapshot 6/9/14 msm8960 on Motorola Atrix HD MB886. Have seen something similar.
Details:
- Have not seen this issue for weeks of running this ROM until now.
- This seems to have started a few (2?) days ago after an update. Google Play Music, Maps, Search, Drive, Sheets, and Docs all received updates in the past week.
- Typically, based on the configuration and usage of my phone, when the screen on is off the phone is in Deep Sleep (percentage in high 90s).
- At some point after some app or service is run, the phone stops going into deep sleep.
- Better Battery Stats shows SystemUpdateService as having partial wakelock for about the same percentage of time that the phone should be in deep sleep (high 90s).
- SystemUpdateServices does not seem to be hogging battery even considering that it might be folded into another category, but the wakelock causes the phone to use battery more than twice as fast as in deep sleep.
- A restart clears it up until the SystemUpdateService is invoked again by... whatever... seems to be something I do manually - still chasing it.
IronTechmonkey,
confirming your descriptions, up to the point where you describe that a reboot clears the issue up until a certain unknown event some time after boot. This is clearly not the case for me.
Instead, I was just able to reproduce the behaviour I described above. The wakelock remained gone since my last post, then I had to reboot for another reason, and it was there again basically from the first second (100% awake time since boot). Looking into Disable Service, SystemUpdateService was unchecked / disabled - again I checked / enabled it, and the wakelock stopped immediately.

I've been able to consistently replicate the problem 100% by running the Google Play app when the phone has a data connection.
If I run the Google Play app when the phone has no data connection the problem does not occur until the next time the phone has a data connection, whether or not Google Play is running.
I do have all auto-updating disabled in google and elsewhere which makes this easier to chase.
See if it happens when your phone has no data connection, with apps and google things set not to autoupdate.
As for the temporary fix: Like you said: Disable Service app, System Apps list, Google Play Services, SystemUpdateService enable/disable.
I'll try with those conditions asap. No time just now.
However, doesn't this all raise the question why SystemUpdateService is disabled? Shouldn't this default to enabled?
Or to put it differently: Is enabling SystemUpdateService a workaround, or is it being disabled the issue?
I also had the wakelock on my P990.
systemupdateservice was disabled in gooogle service framework, but it was still active as receiver and actice receiver in google play services - disabling it there solved the wakelock for me.

Now that I've tested during a work day I'm seeing the problem occur more pervasively as some of you are
- It starts any time I go on line.
- Reboot sometimes but not always fixes
- Toggling using Disable Service app no longer works reliably
- Must stop Google Services Framework to fix issue until next time I go on line
= Royal PITA!
As for your question; It is not uncommon in the world of computers (and phones) to have to toggle a setting on/off or off/on to get the setting to stick, especially when something deeper in the system is turning it on and off without a flag letting the user know.
Just summarizing what was found on the CM forums where I tried to link previously:
Seemingly permanent workaround: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53739230&postcount=5031
Related fix, merged into nightly since Jun 29: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/66894/
Haven't tried that workaround, had no time to go for the nightly... hopefully the fix will already be included in the M8 stable release(?).

Indeed hoping the same, and it looks like M8 and the nightly to which you refer will not yet be using the KK bootloader (great for my old Moto AtrixHD MB886 w/JB bootloader). Found that same XDA post referring to Autorun Manager which looks like a good temporary fix - working good so far. Does not hold setting through restart but still more effective than others..
I've the same issue here since 2/3 days on my 9001 running CyanogenMod 11.0 by ADC-Team - Release 8, maybe it was some app update occurred recently... I didn't have any issue with the same rom before.

I can confirm that downgrading Google Play Services to version 4.3.25 is a working workaround.

Hey everyone,
i can confirm the issue for CM11 M7 and it all started with the recent update to Google Play Services 5 v84.
The workaround mentioned before works very well until a reboot ... lets hope the best for CM11 M8!
Best workaround I've found:
"Finally I was able to block the SystemUpdateService wakelock, using this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...com.rs.autorun
go to settings, enable the option to show system entries
find google play services and disable:
SystemUpdateService$Receiver
SystemUpdateService$ActiveReceiver
SystemUpdateService$SecretCodeReceiver
done... no more wakelock and it didn't break anything, syncs all work ok
I know this app doesn't look the best, but I tried others like "Android Tuner Free", "Disable Services", "Gemini App Manager", etc, but they allowed me to only disable the main service and didn't show the other receivers that had to be disabled."
As the other user said, this is all caused by the Google Play Services update that has being rolling out this last week. The solution above is reboot proof (At least for me). Thanks to the user who posted it.

Google Play Servicee FC

I've been using amplify + myandroidtools combo to optimize the battery life. Everything was perfect until yesterday. Though I've not altered any wakelocks or alarms related to location services, I've been getting FC whenever I use High accuracy or battrry saving mode. Device Only works fine. But some of the apps I've strictly use High Accuracy Mode. i tried disabling amplify and restoring my androidtoils still problem persists. A serach on forum tells me this is commom problem for 4.4 roms. But as it was working fine earlier, I would like to regain that functionality. Been using play services 7.5.74. Any Suggestions?
P.S. Wiping Cache solves problem for few hours. But it comes back.

If you wipe data of google play store, then you just need to add your Google account again.

Tap to Speak ... NOT going away after use.

Is Anyone else having this issue?
A couple of days ago over night I got some sort of google update..
Heck, It might even be the updated google NOW..
When ever I use speak to text mic ..
It literally takes over half the screen and get this... DOES NOT GO AWAY!!!
This is so freaking ridiculous! A Google update that does this crap?!
I too own a S6 Edge Verizon 128GB and I noticed a couple of things.
If you bring up text to speak and then power off your phone.. Once you come back... you have locked it (Until restart)
I tried the following...
1) Reset the Dalvik Cache .. No luck.
2) tried force closing TTS and samsung text to speech.. no go.
3) Uninstalling latest update to the high quality voice. .. No Go.
4) Tried holding both buttons at the Same Time... No go..
5) For quibs and giggles.. Held down the close "X" for 5 whole minutes.
********************************************
What I think is going on is a time out error in the code.
So how i am able to get around it RARELY is..
Bring it up with the microphone button
Say what I need to say then hit the X to close it as FAST AS I CAN!!
I know that with all of our phone hackers, crackers and experts that we can ALL reach a Fix on this.

What did you do and did it fix the problem. I have been contacted by two different friends today with the exact same problem.
They have Android 5.0 on a Samsung Note 3 and Note 4. The 4 has kernel of 3.4.0.

My Google App is at 5.2.33.19.arm.

Android Auto - voice commands working but not 'Hey Google'

Hi all,
I've recently installed a Sony XAV-5000 in my car and having issues with it responding with voice commands (hey google, ok google etc).
I can press a button and it beeps and away I go with my command but using a command to consistently 'wake' the assistant is a no go.
I have updated to latest firmware, cleared cache, cleared data and it works the first time but then doesn't respond.
The interesting thing is, when I do say 'Hey Google' after clearing data/cache the screen does a slight refresh so it seems to be hearing me but not opening the assistant, it does this every time.
Any idea what's going on? It feels like a permission or something else is blocking it from opening but I've been through everything multiple times.
Google Assistant works flawlessly just on my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers Jack
