Hi,
My HTC ONE M7 came from a previous owner with twrp installed, but no ROM on it. I could manage to stock it, but unfortunately to an asian version, but I need a european. Trying to resolve this I got this error message:

I have:

The phone is relocked.
What should I do to get a working european version, that can then finally be updated to Lollipop? Or alternatively how can I get to directly Lollipop?
Thanks for your help!
Zsolt
Finally managed to change to a european 4.2.2.
The page from where the above mentioned (KitKat) RUU was taken is http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617159.
On that page it was written that this version requires a new hboot version and I had an earlier one. So I went with an earlier RUU that fitted the actual hboot (2.23).
It is not easy to spot the relevant pieces in a wealth of information...
Now I can try to proceed with getting to Lollipop with gradual updates, if possible this way at all.
resolved
And at last following nice information, RUU and OTA file sources of xda I could apply OTAs successively I finally got Lollipop to my phone. Forum thanks went to all it concerns, guys!

I was on STOCK ROM and I received OTA 'over the air', I agreed to installed and now I see a message at my homescreen. saying: Unauthorized device. This app is not compatible with your phone.
My homescreen is black i can't swipe etc. I can just normally type in my pin. I can still slide down the notification bar and go to my settings.
My phone is rooted but it is still with S-ON.
I've flashed stock bootloader and lock it.
I've tried to flash PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_JB_50_S1_HTC_Europe_2.19.401.1_Radio_1237.21.28.0627_release_326125.zip with fastboot but it failed with error:
(bootloader) read zipped android_info fail
FAILED (status read failed (Too many links))
I've tried to ignore it, just do reboot but nothing has changed.
Then I've tried to flash PN07IMG_M7C_DUG_K44_SENSE60_MR_HTC_Nordic_5.17.402.6_Radio_E1237.29.35.0108_release_381671_combined_signed.zip but it failed with error:

Please advise what should I do?
I advise you remove your imei from that info

If you are bootloader locked you should see if there is a full factory RUU image available at htcdev. This will put you back to fresh out of the box condition. What's your carrier? What is your Cid?

The first RUU will failed because it is an older version than yours and the second failed because it was the wrong version number .402 vs .401. Since, you are S-ON you can only run RUU that are the same version or higher. You also need to have a stock rom (which you have) and stock recovery before running the OTA. If you had a custom recovery installed then you need to install the stock recovery for your version. If you don't have one, you can get one from this site by downloading an OTA for your version and extracting the recovery.img from the firmware.zip file in the OTA.
Hello all!
I'm an M7 user for almost 2 years and today I bought a used one for my girlfriend.
It came with the Viper one 7.01 rom.
This is way to complicated for my girlfriend and misses some standard stuff that she wants (can't even find the play store on it).
So I decided to get it back to a stock HTC version with Sense 5.5 (and update to 6.0).
I've now been busy a whole night, but I can't seem to get it to work. When using the RUU_M7_UL_K44_SENSE55_MR_HTC_Europe_4.19.401.9_R_Radio_4A.23.3263.28_10.38r.1157.04L_release_353069_signed_2-1.exe file, it comes up with an 158 error. And when I try to flash it with fastboot and the Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.401.8.zip file, it gives me error: FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)
I also tried with a Vodafone file (Guru_Reset_M7_2.24.161.1.zip), because the Phone came with a Vodafone bill. But this didn't work either...
I've managed to get it S-OFF with rumrunner and tried it Locked and unLocked. The tampered line is gone.

I really have no idea what I should do next.
I just want this Phone to have the latest stock HTC one rom with sense 6.0, nothing more (and preferably future ota updates, if this is even possible).
But untill now I just can't flash any other rom.
I'm probably missing something and really hope one of you have the answer.
Gonna get some sleep now and try more tomorrow...

flash the 4.19.401.9 firmware first then flash the ruu. Its a well known issue of 4.xx.xxx.x RUUs, you have to flash the firmware first.
also check your MD5 to make sure your ruu isn't corrupted.
Thanks for your quick reply.
I flashed the firmware, it's now got the dark boot bootloader with firmware 4.19.401.9. But I still can't flash the ruu (exe file with correct md5). Comes back with an error 150.
Phone still boots up normally into Viper One 7.0.1
Also tried a different file download, didn't work.
Tried different computer, didn't work.
I'm gonna try some more stuff, but any help would be appreciated.

Why? You must flash the firmware that come with the RUU, not a modded firmware with the black bootloader...

With s-off you don't need to relock the bootloader to flash a RUU. Anyway glad to know that your problem is solved.
Well, I'm not that advanced with flashing and modding bootloaders, firmware and ruu's...
So I searched on the 4.19.401.9 firmware you told me to install and the only one I found was that one with the black bootloader. That's why I used it
Are you saying that if I would have flashed it with the firmware that came with the ruu, it might have worked right away?
But I only had the exe ruu file, so would that mean I had to extract the firmware from it, or download the zip somewhere?
As for locking the bootloader... I understood that if I want to get official HTC ota updates, that it has to be locked. Could have misunderstood, but at least it works great now and my girlfriend is happy as ever.
Hi Guru's
I have rooted my HTC One M7 (India, CID - HTC_038) but didn't flash it with any custom ROM and continued using the stock/factory ROM. Now, I want to revert to the locked/unroot mode since I don't want to miss the OTA updates from HTC. I see that there is some information available on XDA and other forums but it looked fragmented to me. Can you please guide me or re-direct me to correct source which has more clear details. Please find the details. Thanks in advance !
Note: I am using TWRP.

For ota update to work you need stock recovery installed and 100% untouched stock rom (root and unlocked bootloader doesn't matter)
But when you unlock the bootloader, you loose the /data/preload folder which contain some HTC preloaded apps, weather animations etc...
Ota updates are patching these apps and if there are missing, the ota update installation will fail.
So you need to restore this folder and its files, set files permission and flash the stock 6.13.707.106 recovery back.
Or easier solution use this 6.13.707.106 reset rom. Flash it using your TWRP recovery. This will reset your rom to 100% stock including that /data/preload folder. You also have the possibility to flash the stock recovery when installing the rom, so you'll be 100% ready to take the ota update.
download the reset rom and push it to your phone storage
install it using TWRP
in the installation select YES for stock recovery and stock radio
select NO for ROOT
Some details i missed initially !
Really appreciate your quick response Alray but just wanted to add some more information (i hope its relevant !).
There is a new OTA update for India region, it successfully downloads but when the phone reboots , it goes into TWRP and if I try to flash that downloaded OTA from recovery, it fails.
My question is - The method described above by you will also take care of this issue..right ?

No. You will need s-off to flash this RUU
The only way to s-off your phone is by using Sunshine (Cost 25$).
There is no reset rom for your version (.401 M7_U variant).
Updating to Lollipop by OTA update
Hi Guru,
Thanks a lot for the 6.13.707.106 reset Rom. It helped a lot in getting the Stock rom installed
I used CWM recovery to install the rom.
The Current Issue that I am facing is that its not installing the OTA update of Lollipop in my mobile.
I also tried locking the bootloader but no luck
Kindly suggest how can I install the OTA for lollipop in my HTC One M7 or is there any Rom Reset that you can help us with.
Will there be any difference as I have uploaded the 6.13.707.106 reset rom using CWM Recovery.
Please advise

Hi yatindroid,
Actually I haven't removed imei & serial number
That was the complete output of getvar all
I think when OTA for lollipop was trying to get installed it updated the Firmware and failed
Kindly assist me with the reset rom when you can.

I can't find any stock recovery for 5.11.666.8 version and restoring the stock recovery is not enough to be able to receive ota update again in most cases. If you have unlocked the bootloader you lost some HTC apps (i.e Flashlight, Calculator, RingTone trimmer etc..) which are required to install ota update (if only one file to be updated is missing from your phone, like an HTC app, the ota update installation will fail).
I think you should re-stock using the latest available Bell RUU
Backup your important files before, the ruu will wipe your phone.
Download the file above and save it to your adb/fastboot folder.
Download this fastboot version (important) and save it to you adb/fastboot folder
Make sure your bootloader is locked or re-locked, if not:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
Then flash the ruu:
Code:
htc_fastboot oem rebootRUU
htc_fastboot flash zip PN07IMG_M7_UL_L50_SENSE60_MR_BM_7.17.666.7_Radio_4T.35.3218.16_10.33Q.1718.01L_release_420193_signed.zip
htc_fastboot reboot
Phone will reboot itself once during the flash and you'll see an error message in your command window at the same time, its normal as long as the end result is "successful"
Btw edit your above post and remove your IMEI number and your serialno. Never post these numbers.
Hello everyone,
I want to receive the latest OTA update for my M7. I know this is not possible with a rooted phone
I have been reading through this forum since yesterday and could not find a straight forward solution - I could not understand some of the terms used! I even visited htc1guru and found a lot of information, but could not determine which one is good for me.
Information are scattered and are not in one location, and it seem that everyone has his own case, so I appreciate if I can receive some help or if someone can guide me with the steps to be taken. BTW my phone CID is HTC__A48, is this bad?
My phone details are as following:
s-on, rooted, Unlocked, stock rom version 6.09.401.106
fastboot getvar all

Everything you need to return to full stock is here, because you have the M7_U, makes it a bit harder: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/backup-100-stock-6-09-401-111-twrp-t2992871
Restore the TWRP backup from the link then flash the stock recovery also from the link, update should work then.
after updating, create a backup and copy to your computer before rooting or anything in case you need it again.

At last I can see something that might work! and it is because of your help sir.
I will download the files and give it a try.
However the thread author also included " 6.09.401.111 Firmware with Hboot 1.57.000 https://yadi.sk/d/n7BAQ8vpdqPSS " can this be useful?
Many thanks

you shouldn't need to flash the firmware, and as your version-main is missing I cant be sure its the correct firmware for your phone, so I wouldn't risk it, your firmware might be newer or even 2 or 3 steps older in which case it wouldn't work, the backup and recovery file should be enough to get the update.
Alright so I got a deal on an AT&t m7 to replace my well worn old m7. I feel like I have done my part on searching I got several hours into this and I feel like im so close there is just something I am missing. This was my first time trying anything along these lines of modding a phone so be gentle please.
I am trying to install the tmobile rom nothing fancy I just want everything to work properly
First off I followed this guide EXACTLY took me a while but I finally did all the steps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601356
When I go to install the tmobile rom that I got from htc.com I get an ERROR 155 saying that its not the right file.... I have also tried installing the developers rom and got the same error.

change your mid to the Tmo mid using this, flash it in TWRP recovery https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23622183712469376
change your cid to the Tmo Cid T-MOB010
find the corresponding firmware to the RUU you are trying to flash, we do recommend though as you are on an old 3xxxxxx firmware, you first find a 3xxxxxx firmware, then a 4xxxxxx then a 5xxxxxxx and finally a 6xxxxxxx, flash them all 1 at a time and now run the RUU, heres the 3 xxxxx and 4xxxxx ones to get you started: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355814

Thank you! I did exactly as you said and installed all the firmware files one by one until I got to 6xxxxxxx then I was able to install the tmobile RUU with no problem!
