Black screen after 5.1 update - Moto X Q&A

Yesterday I received 5.1 update on my Moto X. Everything went fine after the update got installed but I felt that the phone was laggy so I decided to reboot it.
Next the phone rebooted but I found that after rebooting the phone totally didn't work at all except for the Active Display & Camera. Later I found out that Touchless Control did work too but the problem is that even if I click the power key the phone won't show up and also while trying to unlock from the Active Display the phone wouldn't unlock at all and would stay up on the black screen.
I tried wiping cache from the recovery but it didn't work. I tried contacting Motorola but they don't give a response.
How do I get my phone back to life or how do I get the user data ?

Xt 1058, and 1052 full sbf's are out. I can't tell your xt version.
If one of those, you could Flash with RSD.

Wireless..

I had the exact same thing happen with 5.1 and after considerable effort to find a solution I had to resort to a factory reset. Phone has worked perfectly since. Also, don't turn on the phone while charging, it will reinitialize all your apps.

Moto X won't turn on

I was rooting my phone I got to the point where I accepted the 4.4 update it downloaded installed shut off and that was it. I have tried every button combination, It had plenty of charge, and just to make sure I plugged it into a wall charger for 20 minutes. Any suggestions? The screen doesn't come on at all. Thanks, Garrett.
Follow the instructions on how to enter stock recovery. This should help.

Sorry bud. Sounds like you might have bigger issues than I can help you with. However, you should try to connect it to your computer and see if you get anything. Also keep trying to power it on while on a USB or charger.
Hopefully someone with a similar experience can chime in.

You can try to flash your phones stock ROM using this tool kit if you can get into the Boot loader. I just used it to flash back to stock on my sprint moto x. I know you are in a different situation but I can't hurt to try

hold power button for 1 min if you feel the phone vibrate that is good.
now try holding Volume Up + Power will it boot into the bootloader.
If yes great time to restore to stock
If No then your phone is hard bricked and you will have to get it replaced.
one easy way to find out if your phone is hard bricked is to plug it into the computer and see what drivers it tries to install
if it say qhsusb_dload then i know for a fact that your phone is Hard bricked.
If that is the case call your carrier or go to a local store and tell them that your phone was on 4.2.2 and you downloaded the 4.4 OTA and it rebooted to install it and now it won't turn on at all they should give you a brand new phone because it was the phones problem.
When you get your new phone please post here first with What Carrier Moto X you have and what android version it is on 4.2.2 / 4.2.2 Camera Update / 4.4. and i will help you get your phone rooted and up and running correctly
Good Luck My Friend and please don't be afraid to ask for help
Mist likely hard bricked, you're not the only person this has happen too and won't be the last, if you're getting the driver mussing as previously posted ,I agree and its hard bricked. Which 4.2 stick firmware where you on? Pre camera update? At least you can call you're carrier and say you attempted to install an ota which in fact did brick your phone don't tell them you tried to root it of course, good.luck

[Q] Moto G (2014) Wifi not turning on

Hi all,
I am the new owner of a Moto G (2014) a few weeks now but since last weekend, I have been having major issues with my wi-fi. It refuses to turn on for me for some reason. The phone is not rooted and I have tried a factory reset from the settings menu so not sure what is causing the issue with the wi-fi. The phone is otherwise working fine bar the battery has been draining a lot quicker the last few days. Would appreciate any help with fixing this.
Do factory reset or flash stoc firmware.

Thank you so much for replying.. Could you give me instructions on how to do that? Also where can I get the system files for my phone?
Kind of dissapointed that you created a thread, asked in multiple places, and PM'd me the same question/issue. Especially considering it was 4AM eastern time when you started asking... (non of us in the USA would have been on, or well, very very few would have been on)
For those watching... I've posted a few replies and suggestions after post 191 in this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/help-thread-moto-x-question-t3032022/page8

I know , I am sorry , i was just really freaked out .. please go ahead and delete the other thread. I apologize.
Thank you so much for your patience and help. I have tried unlocking the bootloader and flashing stock firmware (both were succesfull) but the problem still remains , it is stuck on the boot screen. (earlier at the MOTO M Logo and now at Warning Bootloader unlocked screen) . There are no service centers where I Live so I can't send it to a service center , is there any last resort methods I could try ? Once again , Sorry and Thank you.

Did you flash using RSDLite? That is the safest thing to do. Also, did you enable USB debugging and authorize your computer?
If not using RSD lite, how are you flashing back to stock?
Also, have you tried installing Motorola Device Manager and letting it repair your phone? You get into bootloader mode and then plug your phone into your computer and start MDM.

I've struggled with a similar issue on an XT1053, though mine already had an unlocked bootloader. Phone freaked out, shut down, and now crashes every time a few seconds after it gets to the blue logo., and goes into endless bootloops. Here for more detail -http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/boot-loop-puzzle-t3080565
Since I've flashed the stock images a couple of times (which seems to work, or at least shows no errors), I think it might be a hardware or battery issue. I'll try MDM, but am not especially optimistic.
Had you installed any new apps? I had been playing a new driving game on the day it crashed, though it might be coincidence.

Moto X 2014 Dead after 5.0 lollipop OTA Update

Hi guys, i hope someone can help. I have the XT1092 variant of the Moto X with Kitkat out of the box, i upgraded to lollipop 5.0 then to 5.1 all via OTA. I then ulocked the bootloader , rooted the device and installed unofficial version of Euphoria 5.1.1 unfortunately i never backed up the stock rom. I then ran into some issues with call quality, no matter who i spoke to they all complained that my voice was fading in and out. I also noticed that whilst on a call whenever i spoke over the top of someone they were also fading in and out like the volume increased via the earpiece every time i spoke. I believed this to be a hardware issue but wanted to confirm this by going back to stock. So i managed to find the EU version of kitkat 4.4.4 which matched my device, using mfastboot i proceeded to flash each file individually which it happened to be that the downgrade went well, but this still did not fix my issue with the fading in and out during calls. I then had the OTA update come through on the device so i decided to go back to stock lollipop 5.0 in hope that this would fix the issue, the download went well the phone then rebooted and started the installation. About half way through i noticed that the screen was black so i naturally pressed the power button but no response, i have tried everything from here that i can think off. I have tried hard reseting using the ppower button and volume button to access bootloader i have also attempted adb & fastboot commands but my device is not registering on the pc the only prompt that came up after plugging it in to my pc was an installation of some foreign driver known as 'Forge HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM4)'??? The only response i now get from my MotoX is a green led that comes on for a few seconds and disappears shortly after, and that's only when i hold the power button down for 10 secs to perform a hard reset and only when it is connected to a power outlet or my pc otherwise doing the hard reset unplugged i dont even get the green led at all. The device had almost 100% battery when i performed the upgrade. Have i bricked my device, is there any hope in getting it back up again? Is there a toolkit or something i can use to revive it. Your help would be really appreciated it, ive only had the device for approx 2 weeks and it was purchased on ebay from a private seller brand new sealed in the box, so no warranty
this is the version of kitkat i downgraded with, i took a screenshot before i upgraded again via OTA to lollipop.

Unfortunately, you have a brick. That USB QDloader registering on your PC is a dead giveaway. We have no way of helping you recover from this.

Why did you downgrade to KitKat when you have lollipop images ???

Unfortunately, its hard brick and up until now there is no solution yet for this problem, untill someone leak the blank flash file for moto x 2014.

I'm surprised that the phone didn't brick the first flash back to kit kat. Ya the mistake was not downgrading the bootloader first, which can be risky

If I were you I would sell for parts on eBay, or even buy a cracked moto x and take your screen. I did that when my WiFi and Bluetooth went, just bought a cracked screen moto x for 50 bucks. Moto x screens are over 200$ and there is a lot of broken phones
Or sell my your screen for my xt1092 phone make my happy !

Issues with Stock 5.1 Moto X 2014 on VZW looking for PC Factory Reset Solution.

Guys, hopefully this is the right place for this thread, I have a 2014 Moto X on VZW, running latest OTA.
I'm having issues with it randomly powering off, camera is really slow to start, sometimes the phone takes 20-30 minutes to fully turn on, unlock screen won't appear after locking device, Dialer doesn't appear after making a call [can't input my voicemail password]
I tried a factory reset through Recovery, and through the OS.
I guess my last resort is attempting to factory reset or flash the original 5.1 OS from my PC.
My question is how do I go about factory reset with the phone connected through the PC, is there a windows software suite for doing this? Is there a moto tool that will download 5.1 and reinstall it from my computer? I'm assuming something is wrong with the install.
So basically I'm trying to reinstall 5.1, full factory reset, on a FULLY STOCK 5.1 VZW Moto X 2014 which HAS NOT BEEN rooted, or bootloader unlocked.
Any Help is much appreciated thanks.
Is this something that would work for me?

*edit* used the tool, did the repair, still having the same issues.
