Google Connectivity Services - Nexus 4 General

Under All Apps (bottom) I have "Google Connectivity Services" listed as Update Available. The Update indicates "This app is incompatible with all of your devices."
I was able to download the latest APK version "C.1.5.3 (1977963)" from APKMirror web site and sideload it. My WiFi actually seems better, but it could just be a placebo effect.
I was curious if any one else tried it...

[Q] the manual update to Android 2.3.3 broke Google Voice on the Nexus One

After manually updating to Android Gingerbread (2.3.3), I cannot access Google Voice. I can't uninstall it because it's not visible in the list of applications on my device but I can't install it from the market because the market says the application is already installed.
anyone ave the same issue?
Google has a forum
You can Google it and find the answer in different posts from different sites, like engadget, zdnet or other places
Google knows about it and is looking into the issues.

Yeah, I had the same issue. Apparently Google blocked Google Voice for those of us outside of the U.S. The workaround is to sideload an older version of the GV app, like this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rvp60p7bbnk9nc1/com.google.android.apps.googlevoice-1.apk
It worked for me.
Not sure if it will stick through a reboot though. You may have to reinstall it after every boot, although you may not.

[Q] Unable to download from market with 3G

I have the Droid 3 and recently updated to 5.6.890.XT862 before the push and now unable to download anything from the Android Market only using 3G. I get the orange triangle stating : Download size requires Wi-Fi. Does not matter size of download.
I am able to download via Amazon appstore with 3G. Also once connected to Wi-Fi downloads work fine.
Any suggestions? is this a glitch with the S/W update?
Thanks
Settings > Battery & data manager > Data Saver, turn it off
I love it when its something dumb that I did. Thanks for the help.
I am also on a "pre released" .890 update and now the Market doesn't inform me of app updates.
I was browsing the market last night and noticed at least 5 app updates on my own. Every app was checked for automatic updating, and I checked my Market settings and the "Notifications" check box is absolutely checked! WTF.
That's been happening to me lately. I read about a google maps update and when I went to "My Apps" it didn't have any update available. I had to search for google maps then it had the update tab. It has done this on about 3-4 apps so far that I've noticed.
edit: I just noticed that I can't install any of my paid apps in the market unless I uninstall the market app update and install everything that I want until the market updates itself. I have no custom rom, latest .890, and rooted (no apps deleted/frozen). Any idea's?
edit 2: I turned off my wifi and market is working fine on 3g. I can download paid apps over wifi with older market app but not new market. I can download free apps from the market with wifi on. Weird?

I use a supplemental market called appbrain... A lot of times, I notice when I open that, it finds updates that the gmarket either normally wouldn't have found, or is just slow about doing it's job... :/

Google Play Services won't run unless you update Google Play Services

This notification keeps on popping, I already searched for solution in the net but it is till persisting. I tried clearing GPS cache and data, FC GPS, restart, manually updated the app and downloading from apkmirror the latest. Also tried updating from PS but it says it is up to date and my only option in PS Is to deactivate GPS.
All Google apps are working like playstore, Google search and etc.
I'm on stock, non rooted, exynos, SM-950F/DS, on latest security patch. I'm using swift installer fully updated.
Why did not you update google play services directly from play store? I have had bad experiences with substratum and other theming tools, they create some problems when updating firmwares and some other apps and components, it is mandatory to uninstall ALL the theming and overlay elements when updating system components

Win is right. You need to go through the official play store. Google beefed up its security to keep malicious apps and pirated apps off any phones. So its caused problems when your trying to update system apps from a 3rd party source. The best thing is to find a full most recent gapps package that includes play store and play store services and id use adb. I dont know if it would work but thats my suggestion.

As I've said in my previous reply.

I can't seem to make ADB work in my laptop so that's not an option for me.

I had that problem once on a LG G3.
I found out that the play store and play services was not compatible with my device. Cause some apps, even play store are tweaked differently for some phones. I had to find one that was report as working just fine with my phone and had to double check that the play services was the right one for the version of play store that was in the package.

Is anyone using Android Auto in countries where AA isn't available?

Title says it all.
This is the country list: https://partnermarketinghub.withgoogle.com/brands/android-auto/overview/country-availability/
I think the situation was different a few years back with older versions of AA, where it was relatively easy to circumvent the restrictions and still use AA anyway on a car's head unit. But with current A12 / A13 OS plus the current versions of AA, do people still have success using AA on their head unit in countries where AA isn't officially available?
Found a solution after search through local discussion forums.
The problem actually lies with "Google Play Services" which is the one responsible for detecting where your location is, not "Android Auto". The key to working around this issue of using Android Auto in an unapproved country is to download the Google Play Services with a particular build variant. If you retrieve the version number of the currently installed Google Play Services on your phone, you will see something like "Version: xx.xx.xx (190400-xxxxxxxxx)" where the number in brackets is the "build variant". For A12, you will probably have 190400-xxxxxxxxx as your build variant, and A11 will likely have 150400-xxxxxxxxx.
The only build variants known so far that bypass country checks are 200400 for A12, and 170400 for A11. APKMirror has these build variants that you can download. Once you have replaced "google play services" with the one you have downloaded from APKMirror, you are good to go. The only question left now is - how do you prevent Google Play from auto-updating Google Play Services back to the newest and problematic version?
You can uncheck auto updates of the play store and just regularely update through 3rd party versions.
Thanks for posting!
You must be a naive to believe this, anything is available in any country.
AA isn't available in my country, but it works on my older cars.
On my new car BMW iX 2022, it doesn't work and I get an error showing "connection failed"
I posted about it here with more details:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/android-auto-connection-failed.4493825/
I'm going to try and find one of those google play services builds and try and hope to get it working.
Update:
Unfortunately, I couldn't get an apk to install successfully.
I tried many APKs from apkmirror that show build variant 200400, but they all give me an error "App not installed as package appears to be invalid"

HELP. My pixel device cannot verify google play protect

Sorry everyone I use google translate to ask questions.
I have a pixel 4a 5g. It runs android 12. I wasn't happy with this version so I downgraded it with web flash.google.com
After downgrading to andorid 11, my device cannot install netflix via google play. I checked and found that my device cannot verify play protect. I have tried a few ways on the internet that I found but it doesn't work. Please help me fix this problem. Thank you.
If your Pixel device is unable to verify Google Play Protect. Google Play Protect is a built-in security feature in the Google Play Store app that helps to protect your device from potentially harmful apps. I put here some potential reasons why your device cannot verify Google Play Protect:
Outdated Google Play Store app: Make sure that your Google Play Store app is up to date. You can check for updates in the app by going to the "My apps & games" section in the menu.
Slow Internet connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can sometimes prevent Google Play Protect from verifying. Try connecting to a different network or improving your current connection.
Disabled Google Play Services: Make sure that Google Play Services is enabled on your device. You can check this in your device settings under "Apps & notifications" > "See all apps" > "Google Play Services".
The device is rooted: If your device is rooted, it may not be able to verify Google Play Protect. This is because rooting can sometimes compromise the security of your device.
Malware or virus: If your device has been infected with malware or a virus, it may prevent Google Play Protect from verifying. You can run a malware scan on your device using a reputable antivirus app.
I hope all goes well but if none of these solutions work for you then you will need to contact Google Support for further assistance.
