Sorry new to the S6 things... How do I get flash fire and will this keep knox warranty safe? (Full retail phone to keep my unlimited data, gotta have that warranty lol)
It won't trip Knox, I have done it.
Nvm. Reading is key.
Thanks everybody.
Update: Confirmed, worked flawless as hoped. Confirmed, knox 0x0 checked via 2 different apps.

For anyone who has rooted their ATT GN3 or any other samsung device with knox, I have a simple question:
If you freeze all the knox software using TB, will that trip the knox counter? I'm only asking those who have done it or don't care about potentially tripping it should they desire to try it.
Thanks for the input.

I did all of that and my know counter is 0x0 .. no guarantee it will be the same for you.
Thanks for the input. I didn't expect it would trip it, but wanted to ask those who have tried. Not TOO concerned if I do, but it's something I'd like to keep fresh as long as possible.
Good info! I was wondering the same thing... Thanks!!

Silly Question, How do I root the T-Mobile Note 4 without Tripping Knox? Also, is there anyway to also remove Knox once and for all?
I plan to stick with the stock ROM compiled by T-Mobile. Just want Root Access for the obvious versatility. Thanks
Can't that I know of
BAD ASS NOTE 4 & BAD ASS GEAR S
Pretty sure you can't. But that shouldn't matter since T-Mobile tends to take back phones that have been tripped
A quote from effortless:
Actually, there were other methods after root de la vega. I have a method here for the Note 3 that uses towelroot and an older vulnerable kernel. You simply flash the older kernel in odin, use towelroot, then flash the new current kernel back and you're rooted.
Don't think of Knox being tripped as a loss of warranty- think of it as a loss of Knox! Knox is an app on your phone that will no longer work (ever!) if you trip Knox. Research Knox and make sure you have no need for it before you decide to get rid of that functionality. If you work at a company that lets you use your own phone to receive work e-mail etc and would like to keep apps and e-mail on a separate secure container "work side" of your phone (Knox) then don't trip Knox. If you don't care about Knox, trip it and forget it.
It's just not fair to people to leave this valuable piece of information out when telling them to root or in the how-to root threads. They can't revert after the case and some don't realize they need it until they present their phones to their IT staff at work and are told their phone's Knox integrity has been compromised -meaning it's no longer able to be used for that purpose (Knox warranty 0x1). Also, if you just want a secure container for some personal apps and pics etc, you can use that Knox container for that without actually using any work information.
Here's a quick video to demonstrate Knox 2.0s use.

Isn't that for the note 3. I definitely would not try that for this phone.
BAD ASS NOTE 4 & BAD ASS GEAR S
Thank you all for the responses. It took me a while to appreciate the benefits of rooting, probably because I'm using the device more now on the go and definitely need ad-blocking features over LTE, Better Battery Consumption, WiFi tethering, and much more.
You don't.
I happen to have bought the at&t s6 which couldn't work in my environ. I gave it to a fool who rooted some way so I could use a different carrier. Then I tried to activate my knox and the phone went into a boot loop. I had to do a reset. After several in depth online analysis.i knew I was f***ed. My problem is this..
1. How do I get my knox to work again
2. How do i install the new android m. If it's an ota or custom.
Please note am a newbie but I understand a bit of the terminologies. Keep it really straight forward. Thank you all.

Are you sure your Knox bit is tripped? It sounds like you are now on a custom ROM. It's my understanding that Knox will not work on custom roms (I haven't personally tried it) even though the Knox warranty bit is still 0x0. Get the "phone info Samsung" app on the play store to check Knox status.
If your Knox bit is tripped (not 0x0) it is tripped permanently. If not, flash a stock ROM in Odin to use Knox again. Of course it sounds like you need a custom ROM to use the phone, so that may not help you.

Really hoping for this too. I'm on verizon so no chance of root unless there's a way to do it without tripping KNOX.

That has got to be the silliest (and most incorrect) thing I've seen posted on XDA in 9 years. Oh, wait.. no.. there was something sillier. I remember when someone suggested that Samsung was going to be developer-friendly.
My Samsung Tablet non rooted says it currently has 18 days left on the battery. It has been on for 3 days. I use it for games at night. Not a phone but ehh close enough

I'm speaking from experience. Of course, everyone has its own opinion.
I think we are distracted from the topic.
i am also a note 5 user, and up until now, i haven't rooted it. i don't know why i don't carry that enthusiasm when i got the phone, unlike when i owned the Note 3 and note 4. maybe because my note 5 is already buttery smooth, or i am afraid to root it now since i can't find any safer way to root it, or maybe i am just being confused of the way we root it now. anyhow, when i was using the note 3, i also have the problem with s-health not working when i rooted note 3. so what i did was, i rooted the damn phone anyway, installed system app mover, backed up s-health applications, then move it off to system app to user application. rebooted the phone and open s-health, well what do you know? it worked. but i don't tried this on samsung pay since i don't have it on my phone, because of our region. anyway, try that solution maybe it will work for you, and if it worked, just keep in my mind that there will be no guarantee about your samsung pay security.
good luck.
Is there a way to get temporary root so it then won't trip knox?
I work at Samsung UK and rooting is possible to do, but I would make sure you find someone who has already done it. It is not just Samsung Pay that stops working, most Banking apps will stop working also as it won't be able to authenticate your device. You will also Void your Samsung Warranty.
Proceed carefully.

I don't mean to be rude (it happens naturally without any effort whatsoever), but what is the purpose of this post? To warn people against rooting, or to suggest that it's possible to root without tripping KNOX?
If the former, that's pretty much a given (and the community has found ways around many of those issues.) If the latter, your post could be considered by many to be a troll without giving real information.
I'd donate for a root on my note 5 that doesnt trip knox.
Yeah I'll pay for this to I'll set down $30 to whoever can get this and prove it and what not.
plz
Get me a root that doesent trip knox coz my name...
Has this been done yet?
WARNING: YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR DATA SO MAKE SURE YOU BACKUP ANY IMPORTANT FILES
I found a way to root without tripping Knox. Well, kinda. Root as normal (yes you will trip Knox) install twrp, and use twrp to wipe all partitions (except the recovery partition of course), and then re-install the stock files with Odin and flash the super su binary with TWRP BEFORE BOOTING INTO ANDROID the results should be a rooted Note 5 with a Knox counter of 0 no one try this just yet, but I'm 90% sure that's how I did it before. Once I get home from vacation I'll double check and write up a more detailed guide. :good:

KNOX will still be tripped. There's no known way to "untrip" knox. It's like a fuse. Even if it doesn't show as modified inside of android's settings, it will still show in ODIN mode.

Whether or not it logically should work doesn't really matter, all that matters is it has worked for me in the past. Maybe it was just a random occurrence, but as soon as I have the chance I'll see if I can recreate the results

Depending on where you live you`re warranty is gone, except for in the EU where rooting doesn`t void your warrantly automaticaly.
Good bye KNOX :crying: .
Thank you for the quick answer !

You don't know what you're missing. Samsung Pay is great than Google Pay any day of the week! I've used both on Samsung and Google Pixel devices.
I LOVE walking up to a card reader that doesn't accept NFC payments and seeing the look on their face when I'm still able to pay with my phone or watch. I always hear, "But Apple Pay doesn't work here!" You're right. It doesn't. LOL!
Since Knox operates as a fuse (possibly/likely in hardware), no reset is possible. Or at least, no reset method has been found after years of high bounties and work by some of the best talent on the planet.
There was a promising thread that implied the Knox counter location in memory was known so that a kernel patch could overwrite with 0x0, but if it were that easy, certainly the fix would have been widely applied by now.
Since 0x1 Knox only matters to those few Samsung apps, I'm just planning to uninstall them and be happy.
