I'm not sure if my 2 month old Note has had the following problem since day 1 but it's been doing if for a long time now.
The problem is there with a stock standard rom and any of the other custom roms and kernels that I've tried. I'm currently using Rocketrom with Speedmod kernel. I've also used Checkrom and Abyssnote kernel.
If the Note had been asleep for about 15 minutes or more when I wake it up then try to do anything like opening an app, closing an app that's already open etc there's a 2 to 3 second lag the first time I try to do anything. Everything is then normal until the next time that the Note has been asleep then it's the same story again.
Can anyone give me a clue as to what is going on here? I'm starting to think that it's hardware related, but apart from this problem the Note functions perfectly normally.
Also, if I have a CPU monitor installed, like URsafe CPU Monitor, when the lag is happening the monitor shows that the CPU is working hard.
Help please!!!!!
Does this happen after a complete hard reset with no apps installed?
Does this happen on Stock ROM?
Are you using WiFi?
Sounds like WiFi is sleeping when the screen is off, and either it is trying to connect and/or some app is wildly trying to connect using it.
Try seePU++ can tell you what the most active app is, but IIRC you have to pay for that that feature. There may be others.

Yes, it happens on stock rom with no apps installed. I'm not totally sure what you mean by a complete hard reset. Can you please tell me how I do that? I'm willing to try anything to get rid of this problem.

The problem still happens with WiFi disabled. On top of that it doesn't matter how long I leave it after I wake the phone up till I try to do something like launching an app. The problem is still there the first time I do anything with the phone.
I have rocket rom and sometimes when I turn on the screen the screen wont work. The physical buttons work but the screen is wont respond to touch.
Turning on and off the screen fixes this.
Very annoying.
Makes me appreciate Apple more.

Do a clean stock ROM with no root or anything.
Do a factory reset and erase your USB storage as well (i.e., tick the option when you're factory resetting).
Remove your microSD card.
Now, does the problem still occur? If it does, get your phone exchanged/repaired. It sounds like a hardware problem.
What you are experiencing is perfectly normal.
I'm getting the exact same issue. When the phone is not used for a long period of time, is then unlocked, opening contacts, sms or the menu takes a good 2-3 seconds.
It's really annoying and it's a delay when 'waking up' the phone.
Supposedly this issue should be fixed with Ice Cream Sandwich, so be patient and this bug should soon be gone...

Just not getting that myself. I am not terribly patient, and generally the most I have to wait is a second for an app to respond after waking the phone, and that is not often.
Stock unrooted HK version, never seen anything like that delay, mine works instantly on waking

Same delay here. Stock ROM, and rooted.

I dare say this is not normal, the only time there is a delay in opening the dialer/contacts application is when you initially boot the device and have both of those running for the first time subsequent runs have no delay what so ever on my end ( when i still had the note )

If this is normal it's incredibly bad that Samsung would design something like this. The wake up lag is bad enough let alone this. Can't see how it can be normal though. My SGS2 didn't have it and some other users aren't seeing it. I think I'll hang out for ICS and see if it goes away before I take any further action.
Strange issue, seems it occurs for some but not all...
Once again, I unlocked the screen after 2 hours of no use, when pressing contacts, there was a 2 second delay and when attempting to call someone there was a good 2-3 decond delay...

Despite being my first Android device I have come to accept that this is normal for this OS.
Unfortunately I have become a big whiner on this forum because of this same issue.
The day before yesterday there was an update on the kies ,LA4,after updating it felt a bit faster overall but the wake up and the incredibly annoying Contacts lag is still there.
I myself am not any particular OS follower or a fanboy of any certain brand for that matter.
So I'm stuck with Android for the time being, since I don't like both iTunes and izunes dependency, besides no big screens there.
However I suspect that this is an Android thing, as far as I know Android is based on Java and Java is known to be laggy,so until a very powerful CPU is available for mobiles, for me its either live with it or Leave it !! and since there is no alternative for now will wait and see how good ICS does and decide accordingly.
I'm on stock ROM and unrooted.
The Note seems to do this once or twice but when a program/app has been opened once it usually reopens them instantly.
This morning when turning on my Note for the first time, there was a few second delay when attempting to call someone, another delay when opening contacts and another slight delay when viewing sms messages.
However, the second time I attempy to open something it's usually immediately.
There should not be ANY delay when opening programs/apps and Ice Cream Sandwich should fix this wake up issue which some users such as myself am experiencing.
It's a shame, really since I'm getting no other lag/delay. The phone is super fast in every possible way, only sometimes it's a little slow at waking up!!
Is anyone experiencing their phone waking up and waiting for you to ask it something? It's happened just sitting on the counter, my pocket or streaming music/podcasts. It happens at least one or more times a day, I tried retraining it for my voice a few times but still happens.

Go retrain it once more in a completely silent room. You should be able to hear nothing except air moving (fan, a/c, etc.). Then report back.

Biggest thing is keep it at arm's length. Like really, extend your arm to the fullest, and then speak normally. Try it.

Good luck! I had the same issue as you in the beginning. I uninstalled updates and reinstalled to try to make sure previous cache and settings were cleared and re-trained at arms length and now it works pretty well!

also, make sure you use the same pitch and cadence when saying it. If i want the phone to pick up my voice easier, i can say ok google now when training it in slightly different ways. But then my phone also comes on and thinks im saying it when no one has said anything close to ok google now. If you make sure everything sounds the exact same when saying it, i didn't run into any problems. But i can't wake the phone up when i first wake up in the morning lol. I always try but i apparently sound like death whenever i first wake up.

I agree, try using the same voice for all three samples. I know that early on people were suggesting you say it with slightly different speed etc but I have found it is best to try to say it the same all three times and let the software in the Moto X handle slightly variations automatically.
Mine wakes up all day sitting on my desk at work. I do talk about Google a lot, but I never say my phrase. It's funny some of the stuff I see it type...

This is an interesting thread for me. I had the Note 3 (hi galaxy) and Nexus 5 (ok google). Both of them would think I was talking to them when I wasn't, and I have almost the opposite problem with the Moto X. I have a hard time to get it to listen. I re-trained, re-trained, re-trained.. My wife's phone works flawlessly. I do love that we train our voices because she uses here touchless control all the time right next to me and my phone has yet to mistake mine for hers.
Maybe I need shorter arms.
OK quick update, I uninstalled the Touchless Control update and retrained my Moto X again in my garage this morning. It's been about 7 hours and it hasn't once yet turned itself on. I streamed music, have been in congested areas with people, a business meeting and it's working perfectly now.
I'm going to wait for 24 hours to make sure it's still working correctly and then install the update to the app.
About ready to scream!
The touchless control on my Moto X Developer Edition is extremely sensitive. Anytime anyone talks in the office that I work in, the dang phone comes on and waits for someone to give it a command. All anyone has to do is say "OK" and it does this even when I don't want it to. I've tried retraining the phone multiple times and it doesn't seem to help me out at all. I'm going to be so glad when the Lollipop update finally rolls out for this phone so I can get retrain this with a different launch phrase that will not be so easy to trigger on my phone. In the meantime, has anyone been able to get the sensitivity adjusted on this phone? If so, how? I'm thinking of going to Cyanogenmod 12.1 until Lollipop rolls out for the XT1060,
Any help that I can get on this would be greatly appreciated.
Cindy
I've had my new Seat Leon for a week now and have been using Android Auto a little in this time. I really like it but it seems buggy. For example when using maps, the images will freeze, only updating every couple of minutes. When you are trying to follow an on screen map while travelling at 60mph, this can be very annoying. The other bug I seem to have is that my car seems picky when connecting to my phone (Nexus 5) sometimes. It will say 'not compatible' and will refuse to connect. The only way to solve these two issues is to restart my phone and sometimes to also toggle the USB debugging check box.
Is there anywhere to report bugs to Google? I'd like to help the community in ironing out these issues.

Open the Android Auto app.
Tap the 3 dots at top right.
Select "Help & Feedback" and then select Feedback at the bottom.
I'm honestly not sure it will help too much though. There are no idle employees waiting for problem reports who spring into action at a new report.
But if Google sees 100 reports of Problem X, it might move X a bit higher in their priority list.
The freeze problem is actually new to Android Auto, and it started for me on July 31th. Google changed something server-side because even two clean installs didn't solve the issue, and it was working flawlessy until that day. No solutions found so far, had to switch to an iPhone to navigate. Read my report here:

That seems to be the same issue I'm getting. But strangely this isn't happening all the time. The pattern seems to be when I connect the phone to the car, set up the Google maps navigation, stop and disconnect the phone (for example getting lunch on my way into work), then connect again and continue the navigation. When connecting for the second time I get the issue whereby the refreshing doesn't seem to happen. As you say in your other forum post, this seems to update when you touch the screen.
Hopefully if this bug has only appeared in the last few days, hopefully someone will spot it and report back to get a fix. I've written a brief feedback note saying that I have found a bug and am interested to help them get it fixed!
I see a lot of people having problems with certain phones. I have Note Edge and never a problem. My wife has a s6 and used to have problems about 10 minutes into a drive (Black Screen, no control, most other probs mentioned here). Read somewhere if you load the "Android Auto App" on the phone first and then plug in. She has never had a problem Since. Something happens on App load that is not happening on "Auto Launch on detection" (My gut feeling is something to do with bluetooth). Just wanted to pass it along for those people having issues. I am sure google will fix at some point but give it a try and see if it solves your issues. It did ours.

Yes! If something fails with Bluetooth, then the AA connection disconnects. I hope Google fix this soon.
Just manually flashed the Android Wear 2.0 on my LG watch urbane at first it was slow and laggy and but then a day or two later it straightened itself out and it was like butter.
And the purpose of this topic is?
Mine is still really laggy after about 4 days.
Mind is unusabley lethargic.
Same here. A great smartwatch has become effectively useless since 2.0. Can't even answer calls on it anymore for cryin' out loud!
My watch was incredibly laggy and had terrible battery drain too. Today I did nothing different besides turning WiFi off and the lag is gone and the battery is similar to 1.5. (Which sucks since I used WiFi quite a bit, but at least the watch is usable.) I'm going to reenable WiFi tomorrow to see if the lag returns.

The UI is fluid most of the time, notifications come without delay but functionality seems to be down. I think Google has messed up Android Wear. Needs another major update imo.

Weird that it's seemingly such a randomly different experience for each user. My UI is laggy as hell, and the notifications only seem to show when they want to! It does vibrate when receiving them but either shows nothing (leaving me to swipe up to see what it is) or auto-pops up and takes up my whole watch face! Yet if I receive a phonecall, I'm lucky if my watch acknowledges it at all! Maybe, in 2 out of 10 tries?!
... Which leads me into completely agreeing with the downturn in functionality. On the couple of occasions my watch had picked up that I'm receiving a call, it only gives me the option to hang up! (Making my paid for Wear Speaker app effectively useless.) No way to answer from the watch at all. Same goes for notifications. Email for example, I can delete, archive or reply (all on the watch only) but I can't just tap to open it on my phone like I used to be able to! YouTube video subscription notifications are just that... Notifications! As the only option is to add to the watch later list. No option to open on the phone. Nothing!
Basically, it's great that they've added functionality that enables you to use the watch without the phone... But not at the expense of cutting out the phone completely! It still needs the phone to function fully, and is STILL only a companion product to go with a phone! I seriously don't understand how they've managed to screw this up so badly even after all the delays??! ?
It is weird because enough people report your experience for it to be just in your head. My was slow for a few hours but then sped up and is nice and at least as fluid as 1.5.
I did reboot and that didn't help. Factory reset made a huge difference.
Any ideas how to downgrade? My watch is practically usless... I hate the new update they've removed every single thing that made this watch remotely usefull
Yeah this update sucks on the urbane, everything takes much longer and isn't smooth... Good timing for me since I'm getting back into shape I bought a Fitbit charge 2 and will sell the urbane if it's worth anything.. I would like the Movado Wear watch but I'll make sure it's also not underpowered before purchase..
Thanks Google!

How can I install an apk in the watch? Untill now installing it on the phone was enough, but with 2.0 release it seems that you can only install programs with the play store installed on the watch. I suppose with adb I will able to install apks but does anyone know an easier method?
Thanks

In the settings on the watch there is an option for something like 'apps on phone' where you can select which apps you want to be installed from the phone instead of automatically like in 1.5. It may be an option in the Play store on the watch. I don't have 2.0 yet, waiting for my Urbane 2nd Edition update, but I've read about it.

Yeah, that option is missing now. Currently swiping down, tapping the sun symbol and then the watch-sysbol in the middle below seems to be the only way.
But at least after I did a factory reset of the watch yesterday and paired it again with my LG V10 the watch runs much smoother than before. Truth be told I have not installed all applications yet I was running on the Urbane before (like Watchmaker for example) but I will install one after another and check if the lags I had before reappear.
Mine had AW 1.1 out of the box. Upgraded to 2.0 and it was unusably laggy. Even tilt-to-wake was very delayed. "OK Google" would take over 10 seconds for assistant to come up.
My watch too has become barely useable. Google assistant can sometimes take upwards of 20 seconds to load. And there is a huge delay on my notifications, I don't even receive notifications for calls. Android wear 2.0 has definitely ruined my watch, which is sad because I love using assistant on my phone to control my Philips hue lights.
Did anyone contact LG or Google about this problem? Android Wear 2 made my device useless after just 1,5 years. That's unacceptable!
I use a fingerprint lock and after the last update I get this message quite a bit, perhaps hourly. It used to occur about every two days, which probably wasn't enough, but now having to type my rather complex password a dozen times per day is annoying. It's not like I even sat the phone down -- it stays in my pocket and sometimes does this despite never leaving my hand. I even use "SmartLock" with my bluetooth watch, which hasn't helped. Any idea short of a firmware downgrade to improve this?

I never have to use a password except just after a reboot, so having to do it once every two days is already abnormal to me
And I use smartlock with a bluetooth watch as well, that smart lock will ask me to use fingerprint after some idle time though
I searched for this issue for close to a month will no resolve.
Today I finally read what I've been experiencing!
My phone would jump to lock screen asking for pin while it was in in use with google apps and 3rd party apps.
I also had smartlock active @ home, my vehicle and BT devices.
In my vehicle while navigating with maps and on my bike using a trail map app it would go black screen/pin. It would also happen with spotify the screen would go black but ask for pin when screen was touched.
At home it would be in the news feed, messenger, FB, etc.....black screen/lock screen.
Numerous factory wipes and 3rd party apps deletions didn't resolve.
I started the warranty process with google. I wasted time with their CSR trying to T/S online. , I went to ubreakifix 3 times at google's insistence to get it rechecked, ubreakifix duplicated the issue and couldn't do anything for me.
They recommended replacement.
Google was hesitant because ubreakifix couldn't confirm a hardware issue. Ubreakifix wouldn't and couldn't diagnose hardware because they have no replacement parts for the Pixel 5.
Google agreed but would not send a device until my was sent back. They suggested going through my wireless provider for a loaner. My provider did but then they sent it off to their repair center instead of Google and found nothing abnormal and sent it back to me.
I just got it back yesterday after 2 weeks, I had one lock up yesterday.
I read that last night's security update resolved a "sensor" issue and I'm hoping that was the original issue.
This device is not on my recommended list.
I miss my 3XL, the size, the haptics, the squeeze are things I miss from that phone.
My kid reminded me everyday for the 10 days I was without mine.

This happened to me just once last night. Not sure why/what triggered it but fortunately it only has happened the one time.
