[Q] Limited space - Moto G 2014 LTE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
on my 8 gig 2014 Moto G with 16 GB SD card I'm running out of space on phone storage. Even though I moved all the apps to the SD card I have a feeling they are sitting somewhere and laughing at me. I have 800 megs available and sometimes apps of 25 MB wont install due to lack of space. (???)
So, is there something I can do beyond rooting the bloody device and installing custom stripped down ROM? I have formatted cache partition. 100 megs difference perhaps.
Oh, btw, is anyone experiencing occasional loss of signal and consequently being unreachable? I get this a couple of times a day and I'm thinking about sending the phone back. And that's also a reason why I prefer no to root and unlock the phone...

you have too many apps for THIS phone for many apps you would need different kind of phone.
is your SIM card ok? also, my experience is that only with force 2G you will get continuos reception (steady signal) - in my country at least - but technologically I guess this can be similar in some other areas.
---------- Post added at 09:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:16 AM ----------
BTW, I had Z1 Compact and sent it back in a week of having it - because it bent! As terrible as the Moto G is (slow sometimes, but for my needs ok), it does not self-crack (like Samsung S6 or Sony Z series phones) and you can carry it in your pocket (not like iPhone 6). And if you break it, it is cheap to replace it.
Besides, it is strange, but in real life experience the Z1 compact did not have better battey and was not faster (I do not play games with my phone). The camera of course was much better with Z1 - but then again for that level of photography I prefer cameras with real lenses anyway.

I recommend downloading "diskusage" from the playstore so you can see exactly whats taking up your storage, it's free btw.

Xperia V vs Nexus 4..

OMG I CANT FREAKING DECIDE!!! I Like xperia v but the software is killing me
i like nexus 4 but no waterproof and horrible camera....!!!!!!!!!!
help me decide please , i like to play lots of games and multi task.. i also like roms.. its sorta like i like nexus 4 but it has horrible camera... while xperia v is sexy as hell , waterproof and an amazig 1080p camera!!!!!!!!!!
I think the waterproof is a deal breaker? If you dont mind waterprof then Nexus 4 is better RAM, quad-core, bigger screen and Jelly Bean. But if you like sexy and like to have the phone with you in the bath, buy a V.
Xperia V vs Nexus 4
I am in this exact same dilemma... both havent been released yet in my country, but their expected price is about the same... will be spending 2 months salary... so thats one reason i want my phone to be durable...
battery life does matter, and nexus 4 has double the amount of talktime, but i think i can forego this particular point... was thinking of getting a battery bank or something for emergency purposes...
not having so much time to meddle with the software, i think i can overlook the faster updates and vanilla 4.2 JB as well, i think...
the main thing bothering me is paying something for a dual core phone with an inferior graphic card when i can get the best in the market for the same price... but then, with the limited storage options, how many games can i install on it, because i will be playing a lot of games? This is going to be my 1st android (Nokia C6-01 being my only and current phone), so i dont really know what size files are generally...
the points going for the xperia V are its camera, expandable memory and that its waterproof, and its killer looks... and that i dont like huge phones and though the difference is minor, the xperia is smaller than the nexus 4...

The expandable memory is wrong. You only have less than 4 GB of actual storage space for apps. You CANNOT install apps to SD card on Xperia V. I was tricked by the SONY Sales representative before. The expendable memory is only for music pictures and videos and only up to 32GB. So forget about installing PLAYSTATION Store games coz 4 GB is useless for gamers.
really???
even my old C6-01 allows me to install apps on the micro SD card... cant believe thats not possible on a high end phone like the Xperia? and im sure some people here might have found ways to bypass that, i suppose :fingers-crossed:
No it is. Some of app data can be moved onto the Sd card and if you root you can get entire apps onto the sd card

well thats a relief
now back to the original question, same price, Sony Xperia V or LG Nexus 4

Do you have the links and instructions here on how to install apps to SD on XperiaV? Thank you.
Definitely not the Nexus. Horrendous battery life, and you're limited to about 12-13 GB of storage for your "lots of games", photos, videos, and music.
Maybe not the V, games are more exciting on bigger screens, battery life may not be the greatest for a person who "plays lots of games and multitask"
i was in the same dilemma as you guys.. had preordered the nexus 4 and was on the edge of going insane of the delay after delay.. so i cancelled the preorder the same second i noticed the Xperia V was released.. (I might have done it out of frustration, had sold my SGS3 and had an iphone as a replacement meanwhile.. i almost lost my mind.. lets not get into that, wont be able to sleep tonight if i think about it to much, frikkin traumatized by apple inc!.)
but in retrospect i must say i am glad i went for the V instead of the Nexus..
1. it is waterproof and quite sturdy... this is incredibly handy for me, as i am rather careless with my phones, they don't tend to get old..
2. i can expand storage with a microSD card.
3. the size, i do not have small hands and do not mind big phones, but the V fits so perfectly in my hands it is a joy to use.. also the screen is one of the nicest out there...
4. the camera, oh god the camera!! it takes so nice pictures. and me who only use the phone as my main camera it is quite important.. remember the best camera in the world is the one in your pocket when the Kodak moment presents itself !
4. probably many more, but didn't intend on making this a long post, as the "ol lady" is nagging me to watch Dexter with her now..
Also, i recon in the future the nexus will come with larger storage option after the fuss has calmed down.
but please please lets get a Sony Nexus device soon.. one big plus for nexuses is the fast updates from Google. I cant say to much about dev community for the V at this time cause it is not released in so many countries.. but hope it`ll pick up when more devs and users get their hands on this nifty thing!
damn it, it became a long post after all..

Would you buy a htc 510 again?

I am trying to decide if I want to get in on the last week for Cricket with the htc 510 for free after rebate.
Reading up on this phone it looks like you do have root but the 64bit cpu is causing a hinderance with getting things like TWRP recovery and cyanogenmod.
It also doesn't appear to have little quality build things like gorilla glass.
Since the phone really isn't free, you have to pay for service for a month or two, I am wondering if anyone would hesitate to sink money into it again.
I don't see the benefit of 64bit on a phone and being the first means it also will be last to get software extras.
no, due to its complicated steps of hacking
- unlock bootloader (relock, and re-unlock (not available yet?)),
- TWRP recovery not assessable after relock bootloader (fastboot oem lock)
- cricket online would show device as "non-cricket device" and your phone's bootloader would say "TAMPERED" -> reduced resale value
- scarce ROM options compared to MOTO G
- ROM/radio/kernel options are mixed up for Sprint/Boost/Virgin/Cricket and no one knows for sure which works on which...
- digitizer seems not register touches properly. you need to touch lower part of what you wanted to touch (button, softkey) to get the phone respond
- digitizer seems sometimes less responsive to touches while other times too sensitive to a little moistures (like sweat from hands)
- its charging port on the right bottom side make it inconvenient to get docked in the phone holder in my car and be charged in the same time. (The stopper is usually on both sides of the phone, leaving the middle part open (where most phones having their charging ports))
i have mine in light use since 12/26 and i regretted my decision, I used MOTO G before but I dislike its round and curve back case and I wanted to experience stock Sense UI. So I took the chance experiencing it... but...
if you have a MOTO G in mint condition from cricket (LTE-support), I'd consider a trade with the extra $25 LOL
good luck

Well at the risk of turning this into a not-allowed phone vs phone thread, I'll just point out that while the quality of the Moto G is undeniable and worth the $25 extra, the problem is the model Cricket uses for their Moto G is locked down hard with no available bootloader unlock and no root, so forget roms.
Only reason why I was considering the HTC 510
I also just learned the USA version of the 510 is the 32bit cpu model so that improves things as TWRP is available for that one (I think?) but the camera is not auto-focus and no flash.
If it was truly free-after-rebate I'd still get the 510 but since you have to pay at least two months of service it is really a $70+tax phone and I'm not paying that for no flash and no auto-focus.
I managed to get 2 of them free by upgrading from CDMA to their gsm network I gave them two ****ty blackberrys from like 1998 lol

Thanks for that comment, ck. I was gonna do some research on cricket moto g, but still finishing up with 510 for now.
I jumped on the cricket deal on black Friday and gave my son the phone for Xmas. It was his favorite gift by far. I couldn't use this as a daily driver but it is definitely worth two months of cricket. Cricket service has good coverage with 4g and late but I can't get speeds of more than 8 or 9. The phone is basically free and can handle any games apps I've thrown at it. Display could be better but no other complaints.

This phone sucks if you've ever used a high quality phone like any of the galaxy series, note series, HTC one, nexus, I'm saving for another quality phone. No memory here, camera is horrible. Phone lags, yes the digitizer is horrible. And, I love music and with headphones it sounds terrible to use, I just don't see myself ever going this route again.
And I'm rooted running custom ROMs which is improvement, but I don't see any ROM fixing the negative about this phone, just improving crap
Sent from my HTC Desire 510 using XDA Free mobile app
When my CDMA Cricket-flashed Galaxy S2 finally died, I replaced it with the Cricket 510 and must admit I'm a little disappointed, although I wasn't expecting a world-class device at that price. Battery life and performance are better than I expected, but the grainy flashless camera, low storage space, and somewhat finicky digitizer leave much to be desired.
This is also my first experience with Sense and I'm not liking it too much, but there are replacement apps (launcher, messaging, keyboard, gallery, etc... ) that get the job done better. But as soon as the camera is fixed in cm11, I'm flashing it.
Would I buy another one? Probably not... I think I'd rather spend more for a better device. But if you're low on cash and need something quick and decent, this isn't a bad way to go at all.
Definitely not for the reasons already stated by everyone else. It is too much of a pain.
Unlike everyone else, I'd buy this phone again in a heartbeat. I got it for next to nothing and it works completely fine. Out of the box the lack of space on the internal storage is a little unnerving but it does have an external micro slot and now that it's rooted deleting the mass of bloatware installed by HTC gives up tons of space. I've flashed CM on mine now and it's even better and works beautifully especially considering it's a no-contract pay-to-go phone.
It amazes me that people want this phone to hit the ground running but NO PHONE DOES THAT save maybe the OnePlus One and the Yureka. We have a limited pool of devs on this phone and they have their own jobs outside of this forum and other phones that they work on. Stop being so self entitled and if you don't like the lack of development on the phone do something about it. The current devs we have already have a device tree up, ported the CM MSM8974 kernel, and a vendor repo (or you can use ./extract-files.sh and pull your own). It really doesn't take that much to get to learning on how to build CM and although deving is a little more, if you don't like it learn it. The phones not been out that long people, like less than five months.
For all it's worth, the phone works perfectly and has better specs than most of the other pay-to-go phones. Like I said, storage out of the box is lacking but there are given alternatives and if you don't like them then root the phone and remove the mass of bloatware. The touchscreen works fine for me 95% of the time. There are some times where the touchscreen gets a little crazy but it's once in a blue moon. The only real downside is the speakers and one of the devs here in the forums found a mod and if I remember correctly ported it to the 510 to work better. Yeah the camera issue on the current CM build is a little annoying but that part comes with flashing ROMs especially ROMs that aren't supported by CM themselves.
The device worked perfectly for me out of the box and the device continues to work like a beast for me with the current CM build from @rbheromax, @kalisto2002, and @shinru2004.
Like I said, I'd buy the phone again if I needed to because it was next to nothing.
That's my two cents.
I got mine free and regret every penny I didn't spend on something with more internal storage.
Thing is that is my only gripe with the phone, the lack of internal storage space. SD card can't help you if you can't even use the device because it's out of memory.
I've moved almost every app I have to SD card, still no use, and I only have a handful installed whereas on any other device I had about 5 times as many apps.
Would it really have killed them to put 8GB in this thing?
So, no I wouldn't choose this device again.
NEVER!
Nope. NEVER AGAIN!! A smartphone with no storage = basically a flip phone with a color screen. Waste of my money and time and the BIGGEST rip off ever!

I agree, unfortunately im stuck with it. It was my one shot at a phone and it looked awesome though I do work with tech a lot I do not mess with phones at all. So I got this and am currently desperate for a rom that can trim up this memory the on board storage gives you about 300MB after fresh install and updates. This is useless even with 30gb flash card. I have managed to unlock and root it just fine but mine is HTC 510 boost so not I am hoping they make a rom for this that works on my phone until then I am removing as much as I can but these apps do not do much to free up space. if anyone has any info I could use some As I said phones are not my thing.
I agree with dipspit.
Initially I was dismayed over the lack of space on this phone, however I purchased it at a good price and it was a definite upgrade (spec wise) compared to my old device. In all honesty even without the support this device has received from a few members here I still would purchase this again.
It's just an added benefit to have some wonderful members here who are doing all they can to make this phone awesome.
I was considering to buy this phone to my wife instead of her Desire HD. And the best thing about it was a 4G in it, but after reading all your posts I think I will go find something else. One more thing was stopping me from really buying it - 1G of RAM. I don't think it's really enough this days.
The 1GB ram is not a problem. I've since switched to a Moto G 2nd Gen. and with 1GB ram it runs smooth. I love the new Moto G and it's quite affordable, I recommend it.
The storage is the main issue on the Desire 510.
Never!
Its very sh!t phone,slow,very sh!t screen,etc...
My Xperia SP with 2 cores much better and faster
Just bought it as a temp phone till I figure out what phone to get. Besides the crappy screen and camera. It's fairly smooth for a midgrade phone.
Hmm...well I did get this phone for free. Although it does perform much better than my old phone the HTC One SV, the camera isn't as good as the SV (which I really miss). I'm used to phones not having very much development. My first smartphone was a Samsung Admire, then an LG Optimus C. Then the SV and now this. They didn't have much developing, but it was never disappointing. If I could get this phone for free I would. But if I had a chance to buy another phone and had the money, I definitely would. This gave me a taste of Sense 6 and the performance of HTC phones. I've never had it lag while casually using it. Although I do get some crashes, but that's what I get for messing with some of the system's files in order to perform much better.
Overall it's a good phone for performance and gave me a taste of Sense 6. The space isn't much of an issue for me. I've never ran out of memory space.
I love HTC phones and I would get it again if it was free again, but if I had money I would buy the M8 instead (or the upcoming M9)
If anyone was concerned about space, all they would have to do is buy a memory card.

Planning to buy this device. Thoughts will be appreciated.

Hello fello xda users.
I'm in this forum since i've bought xperia u. Now i'm thinking of buying xperia zr. Why? It is old, right? Then why?
I'm buying this device because it is low budget with great specifications phone. But before going further, I want to know what's the actual deal with this phone. Is it really worth buying? How is the 8GB rom memory divided into? In xperia u it is 8GB with no memory card slot. 4GB internal sd card, 2GB for installing apps and hidden 2GB for system. Is it the exact way of division in this phone also? Give me your thoughts please.
Other options are also appreciated.
Well I won't and can't tell should you buy this phone. What I can tell you is that it has battery that can be changed and trust me it can be great plus. Also it's specification is of a very good and powerfull phone, and it is story for it self.
From those 8 gb I had 4.59 free to use as I like. Also you have SD slot for 32 Gb card, honestly I have seen somewhere that someone is using 64 Gb card (I can't confirm this so better don't do it)...so with no apps to sd, without rooting your phone, it is enough for normal use, but for serious gaming it is not enough. Now I would recomend PS4, Xbox One or PC for gaming but that is me (no offence). If you root your phone other possibilities open to you.
Also word of advice-be very carefull with sim card slot as it is very easy to brake as it is like tray. Also buy screen protector right away as ASF(anti shater film) can be scratched by looking at it:cyclops: Really buy it as fast as you can.
Few days ago I had over 25k in antutu benchmark with stock 4.4.4 Xperia ZR and people here tell me that with root and "better" kernel and rom I could get over 30k. Those are very good results...as I understand
Camera is 13.1 Mpx and it is really good. My opinion is that if you need better you can buy digital photoaparat and use that
It's price is also something to think about but shouldn't be crucial moment in choosing as there is other phones in this price range with specification lile Xperia ZR.
So my opinion very good phone that has few things I wanted so I picked it.
Anyway I hope I helped and good luck in your choice.
phone is good but lack some features of its elder sibling Z and ZL. it should have been given 16GB of internal memory like other two.
Also front camera is very poor quality VGA whereas Z has 2.2 MP.
Z and ZL have almost identical features except one is so called "waterproof" and dust proof and one is not.
The only negative that I have seen with ZL is its camera performance is below average though lenses are same on all three. dont know why
I agree with the first reply, the most important benefit of this phone is replaceable battery.
As this phone is over 2 years old, most buy it now because of custom rom possibilities, and be able to easily reverse is valuable for beginners of flashing.

I also bought this phone just a few months back due to it being cheap. There is about 4.6GB available for use for the 8gb rom.
The problem is without root you cannot put apps on the sd-card so that might be an issue if you plan on having a lot of apps and heavy games.
This phone is great, just that issue, the front camera ain't great but it's fine for me. Battery life is okay but can be greatly improved with root. Otherwise this phone is really good.
and, it MIGHT be able to upgrade to 5.0!,
I wish Sony had given 16GB internal memory to ZR also and at least 2MP front cam

Actually it will get lollipop update.Whole Z line will get android 5.0
Last news was that Z3,Z2,Z1 are getting it officialy in first part of february, so I guess Z,ZL and us will get it in the second part or march.

Is the Xperia Z worth it?

As compared to the Xperia SP. Please don't compare the Xperia Z with the other devices please. Tell me what's bad and good. I am interested in hearing the community thoughts here. Also, how much of a difference are the Stock ROMs and Custom ROMs? And do you think that there should be more development for the Xperia Z.
Thanks

Pros:
-big 1080p display(5 inches)
-High-resolution display (1080 x 1920 pixels)
-Extremely high pixel density screen, over 430ppi
-Quad core processor
-Lots of RAM (2048 MB RAM)
-Fast mobile data support (4G)
-Waterproof
Cons:
-Fingerprint magnet
-Off-angle display is poor
Best phone i ever had the performance is amazing it may lag some times but it never fails to impress. The software updates take a while to reach it but i guess this is a problem for all xperia devices. As for the XperiaUI for me is the best minimalistic design ever its close to stock android but without those ugly icons.
But if you have the money i would suggest you buy a xperia z2 or z3
Hope it helps you

The Z is starting to get a little old though so if you have the money you might want to go for the Z1 or higher as there is a chance of it still getting android M as well!
I had an Xperia sp before as well and I'm happy with my Z1 the only problem is that I bricked it, and sony replaced the motherboard with a faulty one so I will have to send it back :/

I having my Xperia z for about 2 years now
I don't recommend buying Xperia Z
Cons/Problems I have with my Z:
1- The sim card slot is annoying. Fortunately I don't have to change my sim card for a long time until I travel to another country or decide to change carrier
2- Yes Xperia Z has big ram, good processor and good performance but the problem is that it produces much heat. Doing a multitasks in background like playing a game, then switch to watch a video then surf the Web produce a fairly heat that burns your hand and force you sometimes to decide putting it into the refrigerator
3- Destroys your SD card: When I copy any file to external SD card, It becomes corrupted suddenly or disappeares. Then after a short period the SD card will be unusable. And the problem proceeds when you put the SD card in another device or to computer with card reader, It will also make corrupted files.
(Tested with 3 SD cards 2gb, 32gb and 64gb sandisk. All are destroyed :'(
Even if you format it will still be unusable (I got this problem with the kitkat update. I was fine at jealy bean)
4- Now with the lollipop update new problem is added to the list and nothing fixed: My Z is now randomly shutting down during the usage. The only time it doesn't when it's connected to the charger.
I confirm that it's not a battery problem because my battery is good and I can turn the Z on again after the shutdown without charging. I was fine before lollipop
5- It is charging slowly. Takes about three hours to full charge from zero. When used heavily while charging, It will discharge faster than it's charging
Now I am planning to install a custom rom to see if I can avoid these annoying problems
Those are more than enough reasons that will make my next phone htc probably or Samsung which I disliked at first but now I seem to like them much much more

Or he just updated via zip method instead of upgrade via ftf.
BTW @Furrydaus
I think the Z is still worth it, its not so expensive anymore but still performs very well (stock and custom)
My sister has an SP and I'm recommending her a Z also.
BTW 2: # offtopic: next week I'm flashing different rom / kernel on her SP, and since she doesn't have the time to let me test rom by rom,, could you recommend a fast and stable rom? Because now she suffers poor ram management and reboots.

If it would be so simple to fix everything by reset, everyone would do this and live happy after that :]
But about that list:
2. Yes its heat a lot... but I found out that almost EVERY new phone heat a lot, mostly those with glass.metal back... companies dont understand that today phones dont actually need such power, only better optimized apps, but instead of that they put there huge CPU's like XZ and never phones. And XZ normal temp are 60-70, I actually took pirometr from work and when playing, back panel had almost 60*C its actually hard to hold it :]
And no reset nor clean system install can fix that.
4. Actually this is only problem that could be fixed with clean installation, because its clearly problem of system(reboots)
5. that is so true. For past couple of weeks Im playing with Virtual Reality Goggles, and most of apps for that just massacre CPU and battery, and even when Im charging it, after one movie(90min) Battery is down from 70 to 20% WHEN CHARING! xD And Im using docking pins for charging because I found that they give more juice than charging from microUSB.
And in Lollipop I actually need to charge it two times per day, using only music player and browser...
And about topic... it is worth?
NO
I bought it knowing about two things that battery suck, and screen suck... its turn out that screen is awesome, but camera is tragic, especially after LP update, that now camera take worst pics quality than xperia Neo V that I lately fix to use as a Android TV(work like charm with BT mouse)
Xperia Z is amazing device but compared what you can get now for that money its plain stupidity to buy it.
Sofware on it is "shoot and miss", especially when you update to LP.
Battery is tragic no matter of OS version
Camera just suck
Cover flaps are HUGE F PAIN IN THE ARSE, when you use headphones a lot you can order new ones, or even bunch of covers, because they break up easily.
Because of heat and weird design back cover can pop up a bit, so forget about waterproof.
Without sound mods its really quiet device, especially after LP
Its HUGE fingerprint magnet....
I dont care about that, but if someone want to buy new phone, forget about xz....

The Z1 fixes most of the issues so I recommend Z1 or up

Dude, are you sure that you're being logical?
1) This is the only legit fault you have named. You can do nothing about this.
2) Playing a game, watching a video and surfing the web simultaneously? Are you serious? This is the biggest pressure you can put on a phone, how do you expect it not to heat up? I agree that it generally heats up pretty quickly, but newer, stronger phones usually act like that.
3) Do you really think this is a reason to convince people not to buy the XZ? Do you not think if such a flaw existed in a device, the company would stop its production line until fixed? That is definitely not a whole issue, but one with your device. You have either a damaged card slot or a faulty SD card.
4) Again, do not generalize such issues with phones ever. Random shut downs are not normal at all. They are not expected to be spontaneously present at all units of the same model. The problem is surely at your side, whether software or hardware.
5) Slow charging is apparently a problem raised after the LP update. However, I kinsa feel like it is somewhat better now for me with custom ROMs. But anyway, anticipate the official 5.1 update.
And dear OP, please compare devices of the same level of specifications. The XZ is old, but the SP is even older. It uses a dual core processor and 1GB of RAM, while the XZ is equipped with the double of each. The display also is in fHD resolution with like 441 pixels per inch, and this is quite great. Thoroughly, the XZ is a good device, in my opinion, with its thermal control system disabled in order to prevent poor performance when heating up. Battery life is also not so good. Not bad either, though. Pretty natural with newer phones. Sound volume is also so damn low.

I had both devices. XZ and SP. Both of them are using the Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor, the XZ the Quad-Core Variant with 1,5 Ghz and the SP the Dual-Core Variant with 1,7 Ghz.
I can't recommend any of these devices, they are old and the battery is too small for todays use. I'm using the Z for almost two years now. Don't buy it, its too old for todays usage.

Xperia Z upgrade to M4 Aqua?

I wanted to know if any of you have an M4 Aqua or Xperia Z, so i can know if it's a good "upgrade"
My Xperia Z does almost everything I want, but has terrible battery life.
My main problem is that my internet/4g keeps saying I have no connection, even though I do.
I've had issues where I can load say xda developers site, but not any other site. I find it very weird that I can load only on site, but trying to load anything else says I have no connection.
Other times I turn on data and I can't access/load some webpages. It can be the same location, but sometimes I loads and others it doesn't.
Another issue is the "No sim card" error I get from time to time. It looks to have gone away, but not sure.
Xperia M4 Aqua looks good on paper at $200-$250.
Main reason I'm interested is because it's unlocked already and has Band 12 for tmobile!
Screen is 720p, but I can deal with it honestly.
Looks like a cheaper Xperia Z3, which I like.
S4 Pro(Z) vs SD 615(Aqua)
S4 pro likely has raw power, but is SD 615 is likely more efficient.(maybe faster)
Any recommendations for under $250 and preferably have band 12?
So do you think this is a worthwhile upgrade? Any better options?

Search for Xiaomi Mi4i.
I've heard of them, but don't I have to import them?
Since they're not released in the US.
Rather have a phone that I can buy here and has tmobile LTE speeds.
I saw this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-xp...lack/4346600.p?id=1219734737974&skuId=4346600
Looks decent for 5.5 1080p phone.
Also can get G2 or G3 for that price range.

This can be fixed in 3 ways:
1. Using a custom rom and/or using apps like amplify and greenify
2. Replacing the battery with a new one
3. Replacing your sim card

The first thing you should do here is get a new sim card. sounds like yours is broken or outdated.
You can also try upgrading your baseband to the newest version
Finally a custom rom and/or kernel could clean up the remaining issues.

You should be able to unlock your phone with relative ease and at the very least for cheaper than buying a new one.
Also you can probably unlock band12 with the instructions available elsewhere on the forum, these explain how to open all the bands on the radio.
I can't comment on the M4 itself since i have no idea.
TLDR: Replace your sim card
Like I said the sim issue stopped completely, I just took out the sim and put it back in. No problems.
One thing I can't fix is battery draining 1-2% a minute with screen on using 4g. I always turn off data when not in use, I am trying to save as much battery.
I've had issues with data not working when it's on.
Example, xda sometimes says I have no connection. It's a lie, since another app pulls data fine. The weird issue when no websites load in any browser because no connection, but Facebook/email/YouTube work.
Honestly I just want something that can get through a day of moderate use.
10:30 am to 12:30 pm, 1-2 hour of music,15-30 min. using data screen on. Battery is usually at 70-80% by then in 2 hours of light use.
2:00 pm to 3:00, hour long video,720p. Drains like 15-30% of battery.
Watch 15 ninute YouTube video at 720p,drains like 5-15%.
The screen and data/lte on this are not efficient, which is the main problem for me.

That 4g drain could still be related to your sim card, if its more than 2 years old i would get it replaced.
It sounds to me like you are suffering from the regular mobileactive and/or play services drain.
I suggest you install this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/rom-official-sony-lollipop-5-1-1-t3196237
And then follow the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884
If you dont mind unlocking the bootloader then you can profit even more by using this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/kernel-zombie-t3126417
Also 4g will not work if sim card isn't the right one

Are you looking to stay within the Sony ecosystem? I would stay away from non-flagship products from Sony, I've heard things about terrible support, 16gb storage that's gimped out the box and prices far higher than equivalent devices from other manufacturers. Perhaps a OnePlus X or something?
