Just got it in yesterday.. Tried it today, works great! No notification of "slow charging" and it goes much quicker than my regular standard usb charger does (the old ones for my gnex).
I have this one, the USB plug labeled 2A works for fast charging with my OEM LG micro USB cable, and the micro USB cable that came with my original Motorola Droid Razr.

Check out "ventev" product line up. They are a little pricey, but they have a great warranty as well as smart chip technology that stops the charge when the phone is fully charged.

the ps vita car charger works as well
ravpower works good for me
I'd love to get pointed to original lg USB cable.. Greatly appreciated

Correct me if I'm wrong, But isn't 2A too high a charge rate for the G2?? The base for the GNEx is .15A, which is why we get the slow charge indication. The charge port that comes with the G2 is rated at .3A. I would think that the rated 2A charge in this thread would damage the battery over a period of time.
The stock lg charger (AC) is rated at an OUTPUT of 1.8 amps. So these should be fine in a pinch for car charging. The gnex was 1.0

A 2A port will give you Quick Charge. I'm pretty sure you can have over 2A on a port, and the device will only pull as much power as it needs. As long as the port is rated 5V, it'll be fine. It's 2A/3A/whatever available, not how much the charger forces into the plug. Kinda like how a home outlet is rated at 120V and usually 15A; devices will need to be rated for 120V and will pull only as much amperage as they need.
I might get this one because it's compact and has two ports at 1A and 2A.

I'm considering something similar... but then I'm going to have to find a USB cable that's confirmed to do rapid charging. Might just go with the OPs

I recently received a TronSmart UC5PC QuickCharge 2.0 Rapid Desktop Charger and I must admit that this is a solidly built desktop USB charger. I personally use it on my nightstand where I have an iPad, two cell phones, and two e-cigs charging at night. It uses VoltIQ technology which "identifies the power level required for each connected device." While I am no electrical engineer, I put it through its paces over the course of a week and I haven't had any issues charging various electronics. It handled various USB devices I had with various power requirements without any issue. Nothing got hot, nothing blew up, and nothing caught fire. YAY!
The QuickCharge 2.0 port works great with the Samsung S7 Edge putting out 54w and the phone does indeed recognize that is is on a fast charger. It brought my phone from 1% to 100% charge in about an hour and a half which is in line with Quick Charge 2.0 average charge times.
Based on their site, they do have a Qualcomm certification for QuickCharge 2.0 for this desktop charger:
It is It was perfect for me as I didn't need a huge surge protector with a ton of adapters anymore to power and charge my gadgets so major bonus points on giving me back some nightstand real estate.
I like the fact that it is heavy and feels very sturdy. Definitely beats a lot of other desktop chargers that are very light and slides around all over the place. I do wish they added little rubber feet on the bottom so it wouldn't slide ever.
The ports are labeled but on the bottom/back of the device as shown here:
It's not an issue as the QuickCharge 2.0 port is BLUE.
I've tried many desktop chargers and this one is my favorite. I am going to nitpick a little and say I wish there were two QuickCharge 2.0 ports but it is still a great space saving efficient little box!
Build Quality: 9/10 - Could use rubber feet.
Charging: 10/10 - It's really what it was made for and it definitely does it's job.
Design: 9/10 - Its a black box. Nothing fancy. No LEDs but I wouldn't want a LED anyway.
Overall: 9.3/10
Note: I am not affiliated with TronSmart or any of their subsidiaries and I was not compensated in any way to post this review.
So i opted for the 360 camera... I like gadgets I can fiddle with. AND I already have a good Qi charger made in China by some company. Its a dual coil from when i had my Note 3... I used it for one of my LG G4s.
Anyone know a good brand to get for a second charger? Something not in the $40+ range?
choetech
im currently reviewing/testing this and will post up my results soon:

The Choetech mentioned above works great!! I was worried about the fan being loud, but you can't even hear it at all. I held it up to my ear to make sure it even worked. Yep, it was spinning. Love this thing!! It looks much bigger on Amazon. Looks good even with the phone off of it.
I have two of these from Youshare. They do fast charge properly but don't come with a wall adapter. For $15 You need to use your own.
My s7, s7 edge, and note 8 all fast charge just fine. I do have to use the note in landscape though. Works out great. All my wall adapters are fast charging and I don't have to worry about buying more usb c cables lol

I bought this one for my Note 5: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H76NIAS/
I also used it with the S8+ while waiting for the Note 8 to be released. I've been using it with my Note 8 Since Wednesday. I've not had any issues with it and like the "standing up" design better than lying flat.
Thank you all for replying? All though I like the stand up chargers they make me nervous. My Nokia will not charge the Note8 and it is a stand up charger, reason for finding a new one. I will look at getting one of the ones linked. BUT i would like another lay down charger.
get the sammy convertible one...
you can find the sammy convertible charger for around 30 bucks ish on amazon (at least in the US--not sure where you are in the world).
you gotta pay to play, and if you have a 1000 dollar device, don't skimp on accessories.
get the sammy or the choetech.
My old qc 2.0 that can fast charge my note 5 won't work anymore on my n8. Any fast car charger recommendations that works on your note 8? tia.
the one I got from anker for my note 4 stilll does the job
I got an official Samsung dual fast charger on Amazon for $11 last year. It's great.
Samsung AFC Dual Fast Car Charger (EP-LN920) Adaptive Fast Charging-White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LOXP0VA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_b85Uzb63J31AS
Look around and you can maybe find the black one for the same price. I own an Anker, Tronsmart and Aukey car fast charger too. I like the Samsung official the best. Think it charges the best as well.
I use this one, and it fast charges 2 Note 8s at the same time with no problems.
All the fast charging accessories I've got (all from Anker) work a treat, it was one of this first things I tested as I wasn't sure if The QC spec of Quick Charge worked with Exynos devices.
I have a Belkin charger I have used for a couple of years. It seems to work nearly as well as our brick wall chargers.

Got the one for the s8 and s8+ since they are 3.1 type c
I use this one, Anker at Amazon. Works great

Get the real samsung one. It's like 17 bucks and can fast charge 2 samsung fast charge devices at the same time. Many of the cheap aftermarket ones can't do 2 at the same time.

I have this one and it works great. I'd have preferred a 4 port like my last one but all 3 ports on this will quick charge my s7 for work and my note 8. My 4 port only had 1x quick charge so it's a trade off
My Dell venue 11 pro convertible ( i5 / 8gb ddr3 / 256gb Ssd) charges fine with this as well.

Some do. The one I just posted has 3x quick charge ports and under $15. Not a super cheap one but it works great. I ordered 2 lol

Neither my portable charger or my car charger will fast charge. Both used to fast charge back before with my S7.
Is there something different about the note 8 that prevents it from quick charging? Although if you look at the time remaining till fully charged it isn't much below the plugged in time.

Nothing different on Note 8, should work fine. Have you tried another cable? Cheap cables are usually the main culprit & the stock Samsung cables IMO are not quality cables.
Also it's not uncommon for aftermarket chargers to have the QC circuitry fail. I've have 2 Tronsmart chargers fail, one a car charger, the other AC. Still charges but not fast charge. I usually trust & have good experience with Anker stuff but I have had an Anker power bank fail for fast charge. But on that power bank it was a defect, it failed right away as where the Tronsmart charger I had failed after 6 months or so. Most of my cables are Anker & I haven't had any issues with any of the Anker cables I've had since fast harging came out.
I use Amazon cables. The one in my house will fast charge with the wall charger but not with the portable charger.

Here is the difference in charge time left between the two charges using the same cable.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Try charging to 20-30% then try the car charger again & see if switches to fast charge then.
I thought that fast charging was made by the phone comunicating with the charger an asking it to switch from 2A at 5v to 1.67 A at 9 volts, fast charging being a two part process, the device able to accept it, and a charger able to switch amperage and voltage, in samsung devices normal charge is made at 10W, (2A x 5V) and fast charge at 15W (1.67A x 9V), but, again, the charger must be able to switch this parameters
