Hello, I hope I'm in the right section. I have a Verizon Motorola Moto X, and I love the phone, but I have a concern. Whenever I send or receive group messages, the initial message seems to include everyone that it pertains to. Once someone sends a message, they are moved to their own conversation with just myself. This is with the stock messaging application. Is anyone else having this issue or have been aware of it? I would simply like a way to fix it without another SMS client. Thanks!

do you have group messaging enabled under settings in the message app.
Yes, I do. I have checked and unchecked it as well.

Mine operates as you would expect. Perhaps the sender is the culprit here?
Did you ever figure this out?
Every thread seems to suggest that the other people in your conversation are the problem. When I had my iphone 4s (4 days ago), this was never ever a problem with the same people.
Same problem here. Seems as though users from other carriers group fine. Group texts from another Verizon user comes individually. Really odd

I think I found out hats going on, its people with Samsung Galaxy's are the culprit, but when I flashed the eclipse blur ROM with the bubble MMS it fixes the problem, I hope vzw fixes this aoon

Ah the Samsung messaging app is a mess. I hated it on my GS3. Used Handcent instead.

I am also on Verizon, switched to 8sms a few weeks ago. No complaints and group messaging works fine

Use the stock app and see if it works.

I tried setting hangouts as default sms app and uninstalled textra but texts still do not get read while driving. It also doesn't give me option to answer calls like it's supposed to. Any ideas?
Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
I know it needs the GPS to be turned on. I also wonder if mobile data needs to be on...
Do you ever see the "driving" notification on the status bar when you are 'on the road' ? (Give it several minutes to detect.)
Sorry, read your post better the second time...
Wanted to post back what finally fixed it for me. Uninstalled Textra and cleared data/cache for moto assist and assist framework. Then just setup moto assist preferences again and it started working.

Seen that too, do you have hangouts installed and using as your default SMS handler?
Sent on my Moto X
Yes, but I've seen it before I started using Hangouts for SMS.
So I think this has something to do with voicemail. Each time someone leaves a voicemail, this appears.

Yes I think you're correct, its T-Mobile visual voice mail

Any voicemail. I don't have any visual voicemail, but it still showed up. BBS still showed a 1% drain overnight... I can't imagine how good this phone could be without this wake lock.

Reviewers keep mentioning that you can use moto voice to send whatsapp messages, but nobody ever tests or shows it. Can somebody with the new motox explain and /or show how this works.

It works based on some kind of script using accessibility functions on android, like a chain of questions.
First you say the command Send a Whatsapp.
Moto voice opens the program, lists your contacts and asks for a name.
You say it.
It types the name in search box and pre select the contact if it finds it.
It asks you to confirm the contact.
You confirm.
Moto voice then select the contact and asks the message.
You say it, and after confirming the message, it is deliveried.
Its not simple as saying the message and contact in one phrase but it works when you are without hands free.

That works for me, im fine with it. And this is the main reason i will be getting this phone, unless they can port that functionality to the original motox.

Oh that's to bad that we can't use groups with moto voice. Maybe it'll come as a software update.

Sorry, but What is the voice command to confirm a contact choose in PTBR?
I recently upgraded to a Nexus 6 and I'm having an issue where it won't receive text messages. Also, I can send texts just fine. Everything is completely stock, hasn't been rooted or anything.

Using standard Messenger app for texts? Just call Verizon. They will fix it. Probably something on their end.
