[Q] Android 5.1.1 root? - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I ran into some issues with my kindle fire hd 7" and had to wipe it. Basically it was stuck in TWRP screen and had to go into fastboot, clear cache and user data and managed to load Android 5.1.1. However, I lost root.
I tried Qemu Root and Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v21, v31, v35 & v36. All of them are failing on me. This is basically whats happening, both if I run CMD in admin mode and also not in admin mode.

The steps like backup, restore and rebooting, works fine. However when I check the Root from ES FileExplorer or from the RootCheck applications, they don't show the tablet as rooted.
I also tried a few apps out like; com.joeykrim.rootcheck-5.5.3-94-minAPI11.apk, Key_Root_Master_(MOD_Version)[1].apk, KingoRoot.apk, kingroot_4.1.0.703.apk, KingRoot-4.0.0.233-release-201505071219_105001.apk, rootdashi_cnet.apk, tr.apk & Root_Master_1.3.6_Cekas.apk - All failed.
Is there something I'm missing? The following is taken from 'About Tablet':
Device Model: Amazon Tate
CyanogenMod version: 12.1-20150707-NIGHTLY-tate
Android version: 5.1.1
Kernel version: 3.0.72+ [email protected] #1 Tue Jul 7 14:57:11 PDT 2015
Build date: Tue Jul 7 14:57:11 PDT 2015
Build number: cm_tate-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY48G 62f32e1f0 test-keys
SELinux status: Enforcing
Running TWRP v2.8.7.0
I'm really running out of ideas. The tablet works fine but would love to install the Google Apps etc
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Root cm 12.1 android 5.1.1
Hi, guys. Rooting in cm is pretty simple, its integrated, no other software needed. Just go to Settings>About tablet>then tap ten times on the Build number its will count taps> then in the settings new option will be created - Developer options> go to Root access on it & choose apps and ADB. Thats all, you have root, no restart needed. Welcome.

WOW! I can't believe it was that simple. Thank you so much! =)

[Q] Need Help Rooting C6606 4.2.2 Tmobile

Hey there guys, I'm new to all of these software stuff. I'm trying to get my device simply rooted. I looked everywhere on the forum to see if anyone actually rooted my version of device. Some people say they did it but they didnt post how they got it or the instructions. So if anyone can help me, I would appreciate it. (Also, I don't care too much for roms or customization etc as long everything works perfectly fine. I just need the root in order to use the app called "SixAxis" a mapping for games.)
My device's bootloader is locked im guessing since it's by tmobile, but if there is a root out there, please give me links/exact instructions. I AM A NOOB BTW
Thanks

Ok nvm, i figured out what you meant by method 0. So i tried it, and the device rebooted and i checked it with the root checker app, and it didnt root. Nothing was installed or anything like that.
Then i attempted to do it again but this time "run it as administrator". Then the root kit said "the system cannot find the path specified"
Any ideas or other ways to root my device?
First, make sure drivers are all installed. USB debugging needs to be on.
Then make sure nothing else like the PC Companion is running before you use the toolkit.
This should work for you.

[Q] How to receive updates again (5.0.2 to 5.1)

Hello,
like the title descripes, i just want to know how i can receive OTA updates again. I'm currently running on stock Android 5.0.2.
The device has an unlocked bootloader and has been rooted(wich has already been undone).
Did i flash the wrong firmware since i had to manually install it because the device was running on cm 12.1?
I know i could simply install the 5.1 firmware but since i don't want to loose all my data and i don't want to **** arround with backups and stuff,
i hope i can get the OTA update to work again.
hope you glory it magicans are able to help me
kind regards
P.S.
Here is a screenshoot with some infos:

How do you know that you won't get any updates with the firmware you've got? As far as I know, Motorola hasn't released the 5.1 update yet, at least not for the XT1068 model that is sold in Germany.
For reasons of comparison, I am on 5.0.2 with my XT1068 as well (never rooted, never unlocked BL), although it states the Baseband-Version to be: "MSM8626BP_1032.3105.93.00R EMEA_DSDS_CUST"
(funny how my device is always recognized as XT1068, although the "1032" suggests it to have the Baseband firmware of another device).
I also have different kernel versions and build numbers:
Code:
Kernel: 3.4.42-gdd242b0
[email protected]#1
Fri Jan 23 13:23:41 CST 2015
System version: 22.26.1.titan_retde.retdeall.en.DE retde
Build number: LXB22.46-28.1
This is an unbranded device, bought in Germany. My system updater app always states that my system software is up to date, so I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for 5.1 to be released on my XT1068 so I can get it OTA.
But basically, there is no reason to believe, your device has already received an update, so it may very well be that you'll get one when it's released. Or, if not, then you may see if you can find another firmware (i.e. the one I have, which runs quite smoothly - I've had only one or two unexpected reboots since I've got the device, and never had any other troubles), then why shouldn't it get an update? Provided that you don't deactivate the Motorola OTA app, which needs to be working for the phone to know when it gets an update.

Galaxy S5 Android™ version 6.0.1, (G900AUCS4DPH4) OTA (10/2016 security update)

Just for kicks I checked for a software update minutes ago. Looks like this is the October 1, 2016 security patch. A 60MB download if I recall correctly. Nice that our devices are getting updated.
yeah they also unlocked the bootloader in this update

Interesting, I found the following information at the link posted above.

My build no. and kernel are the same as below.
Here is the current update: Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
The details
Release date: October 26, 2016
Android version: 6.0.1
Security patch level (SPL): October 1, 2016
Baseband version: G900AUCS4CPH4
Kernel version: 3.4.0-8903521

Hello, sorry I see this thread only today. Have you solved Issue? If not, you can try to download firmware from this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nw2l5Z8z8_68ZxrZguiFg9tHPDQQCSbj/view official by SKP https://www.skpaudio.com/dtouch20site/app-ingles.html
Also if you don't solve, you need to provide factory reset of android and reinstall entire package mq16update. I don't know how you could do this because if I remember correctly, home access is inhibited and the Android submenu cannot be accessed normally.
hi every one i have a soundking d20 and tried to reset it now all the software is gone

what version of firmware you have? I can send you 1.5.4B application. Also I search entire image (also dumped with ADB) for 1.6.1 version
Dear,
Does anyone have the password for the DEV MODE. After a factory reset, the mixer toggle the DEV MODE to off.
Many thanks for ypur help.

Deleted all SMS! - Recovery Options? - unrooted Android 8.0.0

Hello.
I was deleting 2 SMS messages, I did long press on the 1st until the blue tick appeared then selected the 2nd SMS.
I then quickly went to the top 3 dots to select 'Delete' and the next thing I saw is blue ticks all the way down the right hand side of the screen with 'Deleting' on the screen.
The screen refreshed and it was blank - all SMS messages deleted :-(
What are my options to recover them?
I have looked at apps like Fonedog & Dr Fone but after they connect they state root is required.
I was not using Google backup and had just tried Mi Cloud backup/sync a few weeks ago but with just photos selected.
My phone details;
Model: Mi 5
Android version: 8.0.0 OPR1.170623.032
Android Security patch level: 2018-10-01
MIUI version: MIUI Global 10.2 Stable 10.2.2.0(0AAMIXM)
In Developer options:
OEM unlocking is greyed out but it says "Bootloader is already unlocked" underneath (see screenshot below)
Mi Unlock status says "Unlocked"

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Your help and suggestions greatly appreciated - I had some sentimental messages I would definitely like to recover. I have removed the SIM, turned off Wifi, turned on aircraft mode and phone is turned off unused.
If the bootloader is already unlocked - could I try to root the device (with low risk of data loss) then try Fonedog & Dr Fone recovery again?
When I first got the phone I tried Kingo-root and similar apps but they failed to root the device. I didn't take it any further at the time.
I know, I know, about backups and have already berated myself. I'm very careful deleting things and this Mi 5 has worked beautifully in the time I have had it. I just don't know how it could have happened. I promise to setup a daily backup/sync once I get over this.
Thank You.
Mark
