It was working flawlessly on cm11 however my little boy said it will no longer boot up correctly and has started to only load up Cyanoboot. I assume he may have done a system update that has made it go wrong. I followed the tutorial for how to unbrick a nook (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1663836) with the idea of starting fresh however I cant get it to boot from the SD card. I have restarted it countless times but only ever end up back at Cyanoboot.....could anyone help me out?

That tutorial is for a Nook Tablet. Those files will not work on the hd. Go to my hd/hd+ cwm thread linked in my signature and make a new CWM SD per item 1a. Then flash the plain stock rom from item 6 followed by a factory reset.

sorry for the delayed reply - only just got round to attempting this - I have followed along fine but everytime I try to flash a zip file i get "Can't open ....."
(bad)
Installation aborted.
I have redownloaded the files multiple times to rule out a bad download - any other ideas?
EDIT: Disabled anti virus and redownloaded the zips again - can flash unknown sources etc but still cant flash a stock rom (same problem of (bad) install aborted)
Thank you

What cwm are you using and what zip are you trying to flash?
Sent from my SM-T707V using XDA Premium HD app
CWM running from the SD is from your thread - 6.0.2.7 - stock
I have tried to flash the roms from your thread 2.1.0 plain / 2.2.1 plain / Full 2.1.1 Stock with Root and succulent cm11 all end with the bad installation aborted error message.
Thanks for getting back to me.

Sent from my SM-T707V using XDA Premium HD app
succulent was - the one from your thread was just "NookHD-factory-2.1.0-plain-stock" not usre if it's hummingbird or not?
Nook HD means hummingbird. How are you copying the zips to the SD?
Sent from my SM-T707V using XDA Premium HD app
Just a copy / paste in windows explorer which worked fine for the unknown sources zip (admittedly it's a much smaller filesize)

Only the anti-virus thing and you said you tried that. Ordinarily I would say to try downloading with the tablet but I don't think that your tablet is booting. Try another PC.

I am hoping someone knows how to unroot a Nook HD 9inch tablet. It currently has android on the device.
Thanks in advance :good:
Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD per item 1a and use that to flash the plain stock zip from item 6. Follow that with a factory reset by CWM and everything will be back to unrooted stock.

I followed your instructions from the previous post which were relatively easy and all went well until it booted up and started reinstalling and it is now stuck at 99% and I can't even shut it down. Suggestions?
UPDATE: Actually, I got it to shut down but it always hangs at 99%. Any suggestions?

I did.
I have just formatted my micro SD and the partition is set to ACTIVE.
I am however getting lost in your instructions where it discusses downloading the RAR file and extracting 5 files to create a bootable CWM card.
I can't for the life of me find those files? I am probably just missing something simple but if you could point me to them I would be grateful. This is for an HD+9".
Thanks,

If you look at the files I have listed, one has the name BOOTFILES in the name and ends in .rar, which is a compressed archive file (like a zip is). You probably have your PC set to hide that extension when it gets put on your PC. In any case you need to extract the files that are archived in that rar file. I think the newer Windows knows how to extract those, but you may need special software to do it.
But you have me confused. How did you flash the stock zip and factory reset if you could not figure out how to make the CWM SD?

Hi
My HD+ downloaded the latest stable Cyanogenmod upgrade file, but it fails to upgrade it. I tried downloading it again, but got the same error. I think it's having problems booting into recovery mode. Is it possible to boot into recovery and select the upgrade file manually?
Thanks
Tom
What kind of error message do you get?
You can just download the zip manually from the download page and the go into the recovery to flash it:

If you look at the dummies guide for CM10.1/CM10.2, you will see a warning there about using the update function. It has to do with where cmupdater stores the file vs where CWM is expecting it to be.

Thanks for the help!
I try to upgrate to cm-11-20140308-SNAPSHOT-M4-ovation (directly frome Nook) today but it always fails, saying (status 7) installation aborted. I tried reboot system and recovery several times but they didn't work. So I just gave up and wiped data to turn to factory setting. Now I can't wake my device up with power on, after showing cyanoboot, it just truns black.
Don't know what to do now QAQ.
You probably used an old version of CWM to flash the CM11 zip. It requires v6045 or newer. And wiping data does not return it to stock. You must flash the stock ROM. Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and get the stock ROM zip from item 6.

You are talking two different ROMs, first CM11 them CM10.2.1. CM11 is the one that needs v6045 or newer. Not sure what you succeeded with.

I see~ I think I rewrote my SDcard last month, so SDcard works. And maybe I didn't do the recovery when upgrading at the first time, which leads to the following failure.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'you did that'. You did what? Use an older CWM? Did it install the zip properly? You need to be more specific. The 8 failed boot will not work without the stock recovery installed. If you just want stock back, use an old recovery to flash the stock ROM zip I have linked in item A15 in my NC Tips thread linked in my signature.

You said the stock recovery zip failed when you tried to flash with an error about the number of arguments. I suggested that you use an older CWM. You said you tried that. But you did not say if it installed then without the error message. And you do not describe what it does when you try the 8 failed boot procedure. And did the stock ROM install complete successfully?
What are your symptoms? What does it boot to?

I have a strange issue with a nook HD where someone tried to do a CM upgrade to 11 from 10.2. The issue is that after they did this the tablet now is stuck in a boot loop where the Nook logo shows, then the cyanoboot logo, it will repeat this process for four times then load into clockwork mod.
I have tried to create bootable SD cards but I am unable to get it to boot the SD, it just repeats this cycle over and over.
The update process should not be used to upgrade from CM10.2 to CM11.
Go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and make a new bootable CWM SD per item 1a. Use that to flash a plain stock zip from item 6. Follow that with a factory reset with CWM. That should get you back to pure stock. Then if you want CM11, go to the dummies guide linked in my signature and follow post 7 there.

I tried the stock images and for what ever reason they fail on install, the error is the device check of hummingbird.
Code:
assert failed getprop( ro.product.device ) == "hummingbird"
I know for sure that I have the right images, I am just not sure why my device is failing that check.

It currently has 6046 installed, I am not sure how it got that version as it was your guide I followed when setting this up over a year ago I believe. I will have to see how I can roll it back.

Well, you did not get in my guide a year ago, since v6046 did not exist then. You can go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and get the v6036 from item 5. You can flash that with the v6046 CWM and it will replace itself with v6036. You can use that flash the plain stock zip. Be sure to use the HD versions.

Sometimes it is hard to get an SD to boot. Follow the procedure in making the SD exactly as described in my HD/HD+ CWM thread, item 1a, including copying MLO first and not inserting the SD into the slot the first time until the device is off. Also try a different SD.
