Your shopping list just got smarter, more accessible and better looking!
But don't stop at just remembering the grocery list - use GTX Tasker to its full potential to organize everything in your life - school activities, vacations, business trips or business projects!
With built-in real-time synchronization and notifications you will never lose another appointment, meeting, to-do or assignment.
The tasks
The task is the foundation. A task has all the features required to be useful: due date, recurring reminders, importance, label, notes, attachments and unlimited subtasks.
Quick add a task with one click, or enter all data about new tasks using the advanced add - use what fits your workflow best!
Organizing and showing to-dos in lists is just the beginning - quickly view your tasks by due date, by importance or label - using dynamic lists.
The lists
Lists are the most basic form of organizing your tasks - but not the only one. With dynamic lists you can see the tasks due within a week with just 2 clicks. Dynamic lists can quickly show tasks by label, by importance, or by due date.
Reminders
Any task can have a reminder set - an alarm triggered only once at a specific time, or a recurring alarm which can even be snoozed from the notification. Snooze times can be as high as one day - useful for reminders set to repeat at large time spans - a week or a month.
Synchronization
Everything is synchronized across your devices, in real time. But GTX Tasker can also be used without an active internet connection. And when connected, trigger a sync or just wait - it will automatically sync after a while.
GTX Tasker can be used completely free - including real time synchronization between devices.
And we do not want ads in GTX Tasker!
We do not impose artificial limits to the free version with restrictions like limiting the number of subtasks or lists. The pro features require more server power, bandwidth and storage, and that generates costs, which is why the pro features come at a small price.
Pro features include push and email notifications, file attachments, collaboration using shared lists and task assigning - the vital tool for managing your business.

I'm looking for a minimal gTasks app with a screen widget that is transparent and looks clean.
Currently using the free version of Google Tasks Organizer which is not transparent and has annoying green arrows to cycle through nonexistent/undeletable lists...
Thanks!

Best Google Tasks App
I tried all tasks app that sync with Google Tasks and ended up using BHive Google Tasks. I really like it so far! It really allows me get different views of my tasks through its filtering system. You can for example setup a filter to only show high priority tasks, due today, with the tag #computer (and the filters are available as quick buttons on the main screen). Also it allows you to group and sort your tasks really cleverly. For example you can have the task list broken up by priority, due date, task list and then with each group further sorted by other attributes. Last but not least it has the same cool new task facility as Remember the milk, hard to explain, you have to try it. Also its the only app that has more advanced recurring options, similar to that of outlook and ical.
Hopefully to save a few people some time - I spent a whole day yesterday researching and deciding on the best way to go regarding a task management app.
As I researched i discovered that Google Tasks introduced the first/new Google Tasks API this year - see Youtube: "Google I/O 2011: Google Tasks API"
On this basis Google tasks would be a nice option to get a laptop solution as well as a mobile solution with synchronization between the two AND it integrates into Google Calender All VERY Android and cloud friendly.
So now I just needed to find the Android app which uses the new API and syncs with Goggle tasks. I found these:
Any.DO
Astrid
BHive Google Tasks
Google Tasks Organizer
Checkmark
Tasks N Todos
Toodledo
One of the binds of using these task apps is the time it takes to put an entry in. I didn't try them all from the list above but once I tried BHive I was sold. (This also ties in with victorcharlie's comment above - how I found this thread in a search btw!)
After the task description entry (which can be entered immediately after opening the app) they have used one press large buttons to allow v.quick entry of the rest of the data (without any shunt up/down nudge type data entry if you know what I mean or text entry using small keys). This steps you through each section of entering the task VERY rapidly and non fiddly.
Then with sync on auto or manual, the entered task on Android appears on the laptop in Google Tasks and Goggle Calendar at the task due date in the calendar. Really cool and logical. I won't go into the other great things about it here -
thedailybuggle.com has a nice review of BHive Google Tasks:
"how-to-sync-google-tasks-with-android"
BHive Google Tasks also has what the first poster in this thread Pheno.menon was asking for "a screen widget that is transparent and looks clean" and it has two sizes of widget available.
Try all the test apps and you decide. Astrid has the biggest following by far but that doesn't have to mean it's the best. Please report back here, I would be interested to here what you find.

Forgot to say - if your a Google chrome user this Chrome extension taskmail.org is great for adding tasks from web pages. Just select some text in the web page to use as a task description, then right click and select 'create task'
Also Google's chrome extension for tasks is good too "Google Tasks (by Google)"
Another tip and a v.nice feature. If you get an email say for example a Car Service due - go into the email, then select the more button, then "Add to tasks". This automatically creates a task which includes a hyperlink back to the email
Is there anyway to set google tasks so that an email can be automatically converted to a task?
This would be helpful as unlike in a desktop browser there doesn't seem to be a way to convert an email to a task in the gmail app on the phone.
I've tried a few - Any.DO was the most simplistic that I found and super easy to use.

Name: Bring The Wine (version 2.0)

Features
* Sync tasks with your Exchange account. Don't use Exchange? Standalone mode allows to manage your tasks without an Exchange account.
* Sync with Exchange Server 2003, 2007 and 2010.
* View, add and update tasks. Supports features like notes, categories, start/due dates and reminders.
* Receive reminders about your tasks on your phone, just like on your PC.
* Customize how tasks are shown. See the information that matters to you.
* Use that slideout keyboard to type faster in landscape mode.
Why We Made It
I used Tasks on my Touch HD everyday, and one of the reasons I'm sticking with WM 6.5 is the lack of Exchange Task support. I realized MSFT isn't going to add this anytime soon, so some friends and I made one ourselves and share with you.
Bring The Wine allows you to sync tasks between Exchange Server and your Windows Phone. It's currently in an early stage, but more features will be added soon and kinks will be ironed out.
Bring The Wine support most Exchange installations. , as long as they're Exchange Server 2003 or later.
If you also want to sync tasks on your Windows Phone, give it a try! Any suggestion and feedback would be appreciated =)

That's what I've been waiting since I flashed WP7 on my HD2. Currently downloading. I will give feedback after I tested around a bit.
[Edit]
First feedback:
Sadly it can't connect to the server. I could probably be because my username differs from the first part of the E-Mail address. There shouldn't be any certificate issues since I installed them correctly and E-Mail, contacts and calender work just fine.
This application looks very promising. I have been looking for a way to synchronize tasks through with WP7 because I rely heavily one them. Unfortunately I can't synchronize my tasks with the program and I believe it may be due to the exchange server but it does function for me on Windows Mobile 6.5. My exchange is through Zimbra and I think I've read that Zimbra uses or is similar to Exchange 2003. Is there any possibility of adding support Zimbra?
@dkp1977
What error message did it say? Or if you can PM me your email address or the server URL you tried to connect, I'll check to see what might be the problem.
@oaa8
I'm not familiar with Zimbra. But if it uses Exchange Server 2003, then it's not supported, as Bring The Wine relies on some features that're only available on Exchange Server 2007 SP1 and newer versions.
Bring the wine - error message
PM is on its way. Thanks in advance, mate.
Though I don't use task much, but it works fine. Good job.!

Great, I've been looking for such app since I got my WP7.
I couldn't get it working with Hotmail (Live) account thou. When I type in m.hotmail.com as server name, the application responds:
"The server is not an Exchange Server."
I thought it should work with Hotmail account: http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2010/08/windows-live-hotmail-gets-exchange-activesync.ars
Self SSL
Hi!
Any chance to support self signed certificates? I read your first post and I acknowledged it but do you have any plan to implement it?
Regards
Cina.
@omikr0n:
Yes Hotmail does support Exchange ActiveSync, but it doesn't support some features Bring The Wine relies on (just like Exchange Server 2003). Currently we're not aware of any way to support them, but we are exploring other options.
@cina:
Self-signed certificate will be supported in version 0.3, which should be available on Marketplace within a week.
Somehow I can't connect to my mail server. Does it have to be https?? Because my outlook is setup as mobile.domain.com and for sure it it doesn't require a secure connection. All our phones work fine with that. But somehow I am getting the "An error has occured" error... By the way, the correct word is "occurred".
@vhaakmat:
Thanks for picking up the typo . Both HTTP and HTTPS work. If you can PM me your email and the mail server URL, I'll take a look =)
I'm in the same boat as dkp1977, my exchange account has a separate domain and user name to the email address, until it supports that I can't really use it.
I was looking forward to having an app that syncs exchange tasks.
Keep up the good work, i'll keep an eye out for when it supports my exchange server.
@feygor:
The domain name in your email doesn't have to be the same as your Exchange server (which I believe is a very common situation). My own email account is like that and Bring The Wine works for me (duh). If you could PM me your email and your mail server, I'll take a look. One thing to note though, currently Bring The Wine will not work if there's a certificate error (self-signed, expired, name doesn't match...etc). It might be the cause of your case. The next update of Bring The Wine will have an option to ignore certificate errors.
@ithinkurdumb
0.3 works fine now, thank you very much. I had to use my username instead of my email though.
The app is really great, but I miss some features that might make their ways into one of the next releases:
- the ability to delete a task
- bring the wine should be able to sync tasks on load
- start and due dates should be visible. Either in a smaller font beneath the task text in the overview or somewhere in the task details
- HTML elements should be stripped from the task descriptions
I know bring the wine is in an early state. Consider it as sort of a wish list. Whatever, it's a really great app that should have been part of WP7. Thank you for all the effort you put into this.
@dkp1977
Glad that v0.3 works for you. The username/email should be a domain thing and shouldn't be different in Bring The Wine than elsewhere. But as long as it works...
Thank you for the suggestions. We actually got similar suggestions from other users as well. #1, #3 and #4 are under development and will be available soon. Could you explain what did you mean by "sync on load" though?

Currently there are no tasks shown when you start the app. I would like the app to immediately sync tasks at the very start.
Exchange 2003
Any chance for Exchange 2003 support?
Regards,
Cina.
One More
It would be nice to decide the length of time for visible tasks. For instance, if you have repeating tasks every month, you only want to see one occurrence of each. Also order by due date, importance, etc.
Just my 2 cents.
very nice start to a very useful app.
Thank you
Is it possible to retain settings after update?
@dkp1977:
We're currently working on a new feature that will allow tasks to be load instantly after the app starts.
@cina:
We do plan to support Exchange 2003 and other services that support ActiveSync (such as Hotmail). But unfortuantely we don't have a timeline for that.
@Wind Dancer:
Didn't know you can have spaces in your XDA screenname . We're working on this and should be available in the next version.
Settings should be retained during upgrades. However from v0.2 to v0.3 we changed several structures so old settings are erased. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Brine The Wine 0.4 is now available
Brine The Wine 0.4 is now available on Marketplace.
New features include cache support and a tweaked interface. With cache support, users will be able to view, add or update tasks without internet connection. Changes made offline will be synced once the phone is connected again. The new home screen now show incomplete tasks ("to-do" in Outlook) and all tasks seperately.
Hello all I have a question about this update and, that is what is its purpose but more specifically can we use mp3 ringtones now and, if so how does it work?
Besides Copy/Paste...
* Faster apps and games. Nobody likes to wait. That’s why we’ve whittled down the time it takes for apps and games to start up and resume. It’s all part of our focus on getting you to the things you love, easier and faster.
* Better Marketplace search. We’ve streamlined Marketplace search to make it easier to find specific apps, games, or music. Press the Search button in the Apps or Games section of Marketplace and you’ll see only apps or games in the results. Press Search in the Music section of Marketplace to search just the music catalog.
* Other Marketplace improvements. We’ve improved the stability of Marketplace while you download apps. We’ve also improved the experience of downloading apps larger than 20 megabytes, upgrading from trial apps to paid apps, using a credit card with an address outside the United States, sharing links to apps via email, sorting Xbox LIVE games by release date, and creating an Xbox LIVE account from within the Games Hub.
* Wi-Fi improvements. We now display your phone’s Media Access Control (MAC) address in Settings. (You might need this info if you try to connect to a Wi-Fi network that uses MAC address filtering. To learn more, see Connect to a Wi-Fi network.) We’ve also removed the limit on the number of Wi-Fi profiles that you can store and reduced the time it takes to start your phone if you’ve stored lots of Wi-Fi profiles.
* Outlook improvements. We’ve improved the experience of viewing iPhone photo attachments you receive from a non-Exchange-based email account (such as a Google Mail, Hotmail, or Yahoo! Mail account), using the Global Address List (GAL) when connecting to Exchange Server 2003 using Exchange ActiveSync, and working with email display names that contain brackets (for example, “David Alexander [Contoso]“).
* Messaging improvements. We’ve improved the experience of receiving Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages if your phone uses a PIN-locked SIM.
* Facebook integration. We’ve improved the experience of syncing Facebook accounts.
* Camera improvements. We’ve improved the stability of switching between camera and video modes.
* Audio improvements. We’ve improved the experience of using a Bluetooth headset to make calls when you’re playing music or videos.
* Other performance improvements. This month’s update also includes software from several phone manufacturers that improves the performance of specific models. Naturally, if you don’t have one of the affected models, we won’t install this portion of the update on your phone.

No, even after this update you still can't use your own mp3 ringtones without jailbreaking your phone.
How do you unlock the phone then because to me that is a confusing process.
to unlock mine all i did was download chevronwp7 and hooked up my phone to the computer with zune software running on the computer, made sure my screen on my phone was on and ran chevron, clicked unlock and it was unlocked.

Amazing !!!!!!!!!!!
Thnakx a lot for the application !!! It's very very very amazing to use your custom calendar with Live-Tile ! I have replace the System calendar tile by this !!
Congratulations
If you want to translate this in fr-FR ... i can do it !!!
just downloaded!!!! great app!!!
great application, is it possible to put it in czech marketplace?
Thanks. It has been published to all Marketplaces, but is currently written in English only. If anyone interested in doing translation go here or here to submit feedback.
i have open the calendar app to add appointments to this app?
You manage your appointments as usual, either on your phone or PC. The app will sync it (only if its a Live/Hotmail calendar).
beautiful, perfect. thank you
I really like this app, any plans to include other calendars?
Most likely Google Calendar http://reach.jdbpocketware.com/topic/90546-gmail-account-other-calendar-accounts-integration/
+1 for Google calendar also
About translation fr-FR
I have offered my services to that address : http://reach.jdbpocketware.com/topic/60071-we-are-looking-for-app-translators/
Regardless of what calendar, this is great!
It was easy to convert my google calendar to Live, using Outlook. Might drop google completely, since syncing between my phone and Outlook are the only thing that matter. What website hosts it isn't so important. That Outlook can sync my calender during send/receive actions is sweet.
Update idea:
Instead of things showing up as "in 3 days, in 5 days", perhaps "Today, Tomorrow, day of week for current week, calendar date for any week following", or something like that. I love this app, but am not a fan of the way the dates show up on the tiles in that fashion.
Thanks!
Another thought.
Have one of the two tiles actually link to the calendar app. Otherwise, still need the WP7 calendar live tile to get to the calendar w/o scrolling to applist.
---------- Post added at 12:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:17 AM ----------
Also, it seems that once you turn the backsides of the lives tiles on, you cannot turn them off again.
I want my left tile off and my right tile on date. But, I already played with the left tile. I can make it either date or calendar, but I cannot turn it off. I cannot turn both off at the same time either.
Ah. I get it now... unpin the tiles. Repin the app and set up the tiles again.
Support Exchange 2010 and tasks and you will have another happy customer.
Awesome App. Any plans for multiple calendar support ?
Pls, is it possible to put it in UK marketplace?
Very good app, but we need Exchange calendar support
I really like the idea and the concept of this app.
What I´m missing is:
1. by tapping on one of the tiles the original calendar should open for being able to add new appointments (Is this possible in general ?)
2. Exchange/outlook calendar support
3. shorter sync intervalls for the live tiles, but I think 30 min update is a restriction of the OS. Alternatively the manual sync process can be started by tapping on one of the tiles.
Feedback
Thanks all for the suggestions. We hope to implement all through time but need to prioritize depending on demand; for that we have a voting/feedback/support site, so please add your requests and voting at http://reach.jdbpocketware.com/forum/10078-appointile/
Added my $.02 twice.
Hi all,
I know this is not for everyone, but really bugging me.... I am using Note 9 for work - key is syncing with company MS Exchange account (Office 365) - INCLUDING Tasks, which we use in our team. This was working beautifully in Oreo - the task widget was showing correctly my active work tasks.
PIE update broke this - in several ways:
Tasks widget removed
New Reminder app and widget are device or Samsung-cloud only - do not understand MS Exchange Tasks and hence only fit for personal use.
Samsung calendar app and widget still pull Exchange Tasks, BUT mistreat them as just appointments by another name - i.e. they won't be shown unless they have a due date, and if so, only on THAT date (as an appointment), instead of showing them whenever ACTIVE (until checked off) and flagging them overdue when past due date.
Samsung support apologized but seems uninterested in a fix, despite Note 9 being a 'professional' (and expensive) work device.
Kludgy work-arounds possible, but largely unsatisfactory - including using MS's own ToDo app, which is overkill for just tasks, does not work with our Office 365 set-up, and its widget doesn't go dark on the Note. I'm not using the MS Outlook app either - built-in mail and calendar work just fine and I don't need another 'Blinders-white' app.
Am I the only one bugged by this? If not, any suggestions?
