Hello XDA,
Not sure how to phrase this and I don't know how to show you otherwise.
On my phone when writing if i have to erase letters using backspace this happens.
Let's say < means backspace has been used. I try to finish the word "hello"
Helli< (erase "I")
HellO<hell<HelloHell< (when erase the "I" it types out "Hello" again, sometimesthe whole word, sometimes just a part of it)
If you understand this.... When I use backspace the phoner re-types the word i had just written. I had the same problem on my Nexus 5(slimrom) as my Nexus 6 (android 5.1.1 rooted, leankernel). Especially in Facebook via Chrome. Maybe only there. :silly:
It does'nt alwaysh appen though so maybe it's an application running in the background that messes this up. Anyone have ideas? I can provide pictures when it happens again.
I've had this happen on the Facebook app with the SwiftKey keyboard. I don't know if the problem is with the app or the keyboard though, and I haven't found or looked for a fix for it.

Okay I seriously HATE the predictive text when searching Google on any version of ANY ROM. I cannot disable it, I have tried taking it off the google settings, and I have tried turning off every predictive text function in cyanogen. Nothing works. It is so stupid, and I hate reading how some people like it. It lags my phone. I can type really fast and accurately so I don't need stupid suggestions that are irrelevant to what I am searching for lagging me out so I can't even type a sentace without missing 5 letters at a time.
Anyone else having this problem or is it just me?
I've never had that issue with the predictive text that I remember.
That it lags, or that it has NO OPTION to disable? And I'm running the latest cyanogen...
This crazy problem started last week with my Galaxy S running Serendipity ROM.
Now, when I want to compose a text or email with voice, it isn't using english. I thought it was Spanish at first (no I can't speak Spanish). But sometimes it's typing different words or even numbers for the same words I speak.
I say "this is a test", and I get, "nosotras". As I'm typing this, it is now typing the same thing for the same words. It wasn't doing that yesterday. three times I got three different responses.
I have made sure that English is selected in settings. the only thing I can think of that has changed in the last couple of weeks (months even) is I re-installed Google voice app. The problem started a day or two after that, the best i can recall. I've been running this ROM since I first got the phone two years ago. I don't install new software very often.
So, what's going on with my phone? Some crazy virus? Has the phone become self aware and decided to toy with me? Voice text is one of my most favorite features, i really want it to work again.
Try clearing the data in the 3 voice programs and maybe Google voice too.
Which program are you using for your speech-to-text conversion? I'm using Google Voice myself, but I don't see any built-in conversion software. Is it tied to the keyboard program you're using?
If you can't get anything else to work, you can try the newest Swype beta; it has Dragon conversion software built in, and in my experience, it works pretty well.
I'm not sure what program it is. It came with the Serendipity ROM. I'll have to dig around and find out.
How/where would i clean my programs?

Go to settings - applications - manage applications, then find the individual applications. Click the app, and then the "clear data" button. That will reset the offending app's data.
Thank you very much. clearing the data worked. I hope it stays fixed. I think the one that fixed it was clearing the swype keyboard. I never liked the swype KB, I should just remove it if it's going to cause trouble.
Thanks again.
I came from a Galaxy Ace, and I loved the 3x4 keyboard.
When I got my Note (already running ICS), I was first very happy that it had the 3x4 keyboard, but later realized it didn't work as well as the older one.
Basically, it has lots of lag, sometimes key presses wouldn't register, especially in the Google Chrome app. Sometimes, it jumps to the next character before I even finish typing. Watch the video and I think you'll understand.
Does anyone else have the same problem (please try it on your phone) or is it only my phone?

I use Swiftekey... awosme

It seems that I'm the only one with this problem. Something's wrong with my phone's Samsung Keyboard and Google Chrome app. I'm just gonna stick with the slowness of the keyboard because changing to other keyboards isn't an option to me.

I've noticed two bugs with Swype on the Kindle Fire HD. Anyone else noticed these and have a workaround?
1. When using the Amazon apps, like the book store, Swype does not correctly fill text boxes, like the search field. The default keyboard and other keyboards where you select one key at a time work fine. But with Swype or Slide It you have to do double duty, selecting the letter, then confirming the letter in the autocomplete field for each and every letter. If you Swype out a whole word you have to confirm it in the autocomplete field, but then it only inserts the first letter into the text box. This problem seems exclusive to the Amazon apps.
2. In landscape mode the menu bar cuts off some of the keyboard on the right side. This appears to be a problem with all third-party keyboards.

2. Yeah, noticed that. KFHD is made to use its own keyboard. That is why Amazon made it a PITA to install and use others. I noticed landscape problems with SlideIT also but at least they let you adjust the size of the keyboard. One of the reasons why I sent mine back.

How do you get an alternative keyboard to work in the first place? I can't figure out how to enable SwiftKey...

You can only do it on a rooted device and I didn't find SlideIT to be very stable. It was OK at first then it would randomly quit on me. The thread is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1898390
Its done on your own risk, it can cause annoying force close issues and installing it again normally fixes it but the KFHD likes to be finicky.
aklemist and others who have successfully installed alternative keyboards-- have you guys upgraded to the latest firmware? I just upgraded to 7.2.3 and in the process, I have screwed up my swype license. I guess now that the stock keyboard is swype-based, there was some conflict with the files or something. Now whenever I try to type anything on my kindle, I get a pop up message saying "Application not licensed. This version of Swype has an invalid license and will operate with limited functionality. Beta users, please run the installer again. All others, contact Swype."
Anyone have a workaround? I don't yet have root reinstalled, and my options are limited since I have no way to type *anything* right now.
Anyone else have serious issue with how damn aggressive the LG G2's text correction is? I've tried it on every level all the way down to mild, and it still insists on replacing words that I have spelled correctly with entirely different words which is frustrating as hell. I understand spell correction and text prediction, however this is something different. I could attempt to send the text "the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" and it might decide to replace "fox" with "cat" and "jumps" with "flies". It's insane. Even if I have spelled the word correctly the damn thing just up and decides I must be trying to say something else, and I end up having to go back and basically retype the word and then force it to use what I typed. I tried typing $20 and it replaced it with "2am"!! What the hell!

I've been experiencing that too. Frustrating as hell. I ended up installing a modified google keyboard that has the number row since that's what I really like about the stock one. Works great plus they're themed.
@tholmes8291 @RunNgun42
Does the ROM you use, use the G3 keyboard like XDABBEB'S? If so then try the G2 keyboard. I had the same issue until I started using G2 one.

Thank you, this was the problem. Thing is, I even installed the Google Keyboard from the Play Store and it also replaced a lot of words, but I didnt trial it long enough to notice any real difference. The G2 keyboard seems to be working perfectly, only replacing typos and not full blown making auto-suggestions.
