$2 Galaxy SII in Australia (LIMITED TIME)

Samsung have undertaken less
than subtle ways to continue its
fight against Apple in Australia.
They’ve set up a temporary shop
in Sydney just outsides Apple’s
own shop and are offering
Samsung Galaxy S II droids for
$2.
ounds like a great deal, right? It
is, but there’s a catch. Even so,
the line to the Samsung store is
reportedly longer than the line to
Apple’s store. A line of people to
an Apple store is practically a
tradition when there’s a new
gadget from Cupertino about to
be launched, theiPhone 4S in this
case.
So, this is a dirty play from
Samsung trying to beat Apple at
their own game. But I mentioned
a catch – only 10 people a day
get a $2 Galaxy S II, the rest are
there waiting to get a chance
tomorrow or the day after that.
You can check out the whole
article over at the Muswellbrook
Chronicle, which also takes a look
at the line in front of the Apple
store and tells the touching tale of
two friends who met while
waiting in line for the iPad 2, who
are now waiting for an iPhone 4S
(and have tons of free time, I
suppose).
Anyway, this is a transparent
publicity stunt on Samsung’s part but still, getting a $2 Samsung
Galaxy S II is a great deal. Not a
lot of people will get lucky
though.

Edge 64GB Pre-Order Delays?

I pre-ordered at my local BB at 10am on the 27th. Went into the store this morning despite not receiving an email to check on it. They informed me that all of the AT&T shipments were late compared to the other carriers and that they had no stock of the 64's yet. I called the three closest AT&T stores around me and the answer was the same -- 32 are in stock, but nobody has any 64.
Anybody else have a similar experience? Has anyone been able to pick up their 64 today?
I plan on doing this in a hour. Pacific time .
If they don't have my 64GB white for ATT that I preordered 3-31, I'll go to the ATT which is in the same parking lot lol.
If ATT doesn't have it, I'll just have to opt for a 128GB of that's available. If neither are available I'll settle for a 32GB....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using XDA Free mobile app
Nobody had the 128s where I checked as well, but phone shipments certainly aren't equally distributed. If you live in a more suburban area than I do you're likely to have better luck.
Checked all the ATT in the area and none have the 64GB edge , but they do have the regular S6 in 64. Going to opt for the regular most likely...

oh boy I sense ATT getting heat if all the Platinum/Gold Pre-Orders that were said to be shipped out around the 24th which are now being shipped recieve there Edge before all the black ones who were promiced by the 10th. Kind of glad I ordered the platinum Gold one.
I can add to the BS.
Aside from the shipment being late at my BB, their system couldn't do my trade-in/up on my old iPhone, it wouldn't accept the SKU. So eventually they call up AT&T, no go. I call AT&T and they proceed to tell me that Best Buy does not have the capability to do a trade-in.
That's right, AT&T claimed that Best Buy cannot do a @#$% trade-in.
So I fought with them some more, and they had me do the pay-up over the phone with them. Still, the sale wouldn't work. They call AT&T again, AT&T says "oh if you do trade-in it can take 24 hours for it to process".
Because, you know, NO ONE ever walks into a store to trade-in their phone and walk out with a new one.
Sensing some BS, I call them again. They then proceed to tell ME that, oh no, the payment processed just fine, it's that BEST BUY has a bad system but hey if you place your order with me and give me the sale I can do it right now and put it in the mail for ya this afternoon. No thanks, I just had Jason here struggle for about 95 minutes trying to make this order happen, I'm not letting you guys just throttle BB's ability to make sales just because you want to force people to buy directly through you.
It was really insane. AT&T seemed to just REFUSE to let Best Buy sell me the phone, their story repeatedly changed as to why it wasn't working, but I don't think they realized I was standing there with the sales reps and had actually seen other people do trade-ins. I eventually got it, but MAN it was a fight.
Wow. All for the commision.

I placed my pre-order on the 3rd of April, BB.com, and I received it in store on the 10th, AT&T black sapphire 64GB and got the free wireless charger pad.
No 64GB Edge models in SLC yet
Same issue here in Salt Lake City. I was told I was the first to pre-order the white Edge 64GB AT&T version. I also ordered a standard S6 32GB in black. I got the notification Friday morning on the black one, but nothing on mine. I waited until 4pm and then just went to the store. After waiting an hour to be helped, I was told I could not leave with the black one unactivated (it's for my nephew out of state and is a surprise graduation gift), and that no 64GB white Edge phones arrived at all. They had no idea when they might get them. So I left empty handed and extremely annoyed, even though the BB staff was apologetic and offered to hold the wireless charging pad for my nephew's phone even though I theoretically wouldn't pick it up for two months.
I checked a few AT&T stores, but they didn't get any 64GB Edge models at all either. I was told only those who preordered directly through AT&T online and had their phones shipped to them got the 64GB version, at least in my area. The AT&T stores could also not tell me when they might be in stock, but suggested I order online and could get one in as little as one business day. I do see they are shipping and just had a live chat with an AT&T rep online who told me white 64GB Edge models were ready to ship to customers.
I still haven't gotten any communication from Best Buy on my phone - not even the "sorry for the delay" email some are reporting. And yes, I've checked spam. I think I'll be ordering from AT&T online tonight.
Gave up - AT&T order coming tomorrow
I gave up on Best Buy and ordered my 64GB white Edge from AT&T online today with expedited shipping. Just got the notification that it's being delivered tomorrow!

I gave up on my Bestbuy preorder also. I preordered a white 64GB S6. Got an email on the 10th about a delay. I cancelled yesterday and ordered the 64GB Platinum / Gold S6 Edge from AT&T.
Ordered my 64GB Gold Platinum Edge yesterday, order status says it's "Preparing for shipment". I have the same 4/24-4/27 estimated ship date as well but the guy who helped me at my AT&T store said it'd be delivered in 3-5 Days. I've heard people getting theirs way sooner than the estimated ship date and I'm wondering if that's just applying to a certain model, or all of them.

Very good device, i love it
Well that sucks, must be in bigger cities? I walked into a Best Buy just to look at one on 4/12 thinking I wasn't eligible for a few more weeks, ended up walking out with a 'black' 64gb edge. But it had problems, had a bunch of what looked like waves on the underside of the glass (mfg defect?). Went back in last Thursday and swapped for another one in stock (no issues).
We bought a white and black 64gb edge. My wife's black one had a bubble under the LCD. While I was having mine wrapped at Clear Coat we noticed it. We took it back to the store and had it swapped out only to see a line of waves under the screen. They wouldn't swap it for another one abs told us we had to contact Samsung directly .

A4C.com $149 Today Only

Just bought this today! Been watching a4c.com (and others) dailey because I knew they sell for this price periodically and today is one of those one day sales. I'm too new to post a link, but easy to find..
Sale's over, price is back to $184.95, but shows out of stock. Looking forward to my GWR arrival.
My GWR arrived today, rather slow shipping. However the watch seems to be in A1 shape, given it's a refurb that's good news.
Damn, I missed it. I really want one.
I find it way more attractive than the Urbane, and it has the same specs (right?)
I kept the page open in my browser and every morning for almost two weeks I refreshed the page. Could hardly believe when that Saturday morning it popped up for the price I had been waiting for.
Sometimes they discount them by using a coupon code, so I had another page open that list codes and would refresh that one too everyday.
I had setup a Google alert, but they tend to show up the next day causing you to miss one day sales. As you can see, I earned this one! Slow shipping, but the watch is perfect.
Yeah, pretty sure the guts are the same as the Urbane.

S7/gear VR bundle promotion :-/

So like many others I was excited to hear id be getting a free VR with the purchase of my S7 edge, it actually sold me on the phone as i had the Note 5 and was very pleased with it. Anyways I heard on the commercials "while supplies last" but i never imagined how limited said supplies are...300,000 to be exact. So I did some digging and couldnt find the number of s7 sales, but i did find an article that said pre-orders for the sales were much higher than the S6/E and the preorders for that was 15 million. So over 15mil preordered and only 300k VR's available????..... thats less than 2% of buyers that actually get a VR. I dont know about anyone else but this puts a very bad taste in my mouth for Samsung. Almost every advertisement ive seen was promoting a free VR with purchase. I think it borders on the line of false advertising.
What are your guys thoughts?

Best buy, sprint, and a few others had their own stock that was in excess of the 300k. It's not as bad as it sounds.

I agree with squallz. Your comparing the total overall sales world wide of the s6 edge when you only need to look at the total sales for t-mobile. Samsung is giving away the gear vr for two reasons. 1 to boost s7 sales and 2 they want to drive the vr market which is rapidly expanding.
Nah, don't worry about it too much, they don't want to deal with mass lawsuit, plus they're basically already calculating the VR as a promo tool for people to invest in VR games/apps.

But Intub8 it wasn't just for tmoblie. Its every carrier in the US.

Yes but every carrier has their own supply and those who purchased at best buy got their vr with their phone. T-mobile has their own 300 thousand units.
Really?! Well that gives me hope. I didnt see that info anywhere!
Bought my phone in the UK from Samsung and received my phone with the VR seems like only us etc have to redeem via a code
I'm on Verizon and opted for the free gear s2 watch which I'll probably sell and get the moto 360 or hauwei watch. I have a Google cardboard and though neat, I can't see myself using the VR often.
Fingers crossed I submitted in time. I pre-ordered on launch day and received phone on the 7th.

I have pre-ordered to get these VR, but my carrier didn't get enough home, so i gotta wait 3 weeks before they come
IBought phone at best buy, no preorder, walked out with free credit, free 64gb micro SD and I got a free $30 gift card for using Samsung pay and I've gotten a few other free perks.
They said I had to choose an upgrade or pay over time option. So I chose the pay for it over 2years since it's 0% apr.
^just like if you registered Sammy pay by 3/10 they would send you a free wireless charger. They ran out and I did mine on 3/8

That's how I thought it would be when on pre ordered my S7 Edge on February 23rd.
I ordered my VZW GS7E through BB because VZW is brain-dead and will not sell an unactivated phone, even at full price, but they allow BB to do it!!! I got a Gear VR headset and 64GB microSD card free with the phone, through Best Buy. I wanted to get the free Gear 2 Smartwatch form VZW but they wouldn't let me order the phone (even at full price) without messing up my plan.

past and current Note 7 users, Samsung is offering $450 "appreciation"

I'd also love to see a discussion started on the best deals, and ways to stack offers.
anyway, here's the deal Samsung is offering, if you owned a Note 7, and signed into a Samsung account on it, using your old email address you'll get a special "fan appreciation" offer.
(They will want you to trade in a phone still)
https://promos.samsungpromotions.com/note7loyalty/Mobile
another thing for Note 7 users, if you still have your Note 7, (as I do) you can still return your Note 7 for full price, plus a discount insensitive towards your next Samsung phone.
https://pages.samsung.com/us/note7/recall/index.jsp
(if anyone knows how this works with phones bought from 3rd party vendors like Clove or eBay, please share your experience)

Duplicate thread.
Already a thread about this made days ago in the News and discussion forum....
what's the link to that other thread?
I clicked on that loyalty link, they didn't required my proof of purchase on note7. maybe they already have my info when I returned note7 on the recall. I bought my note7 on swappa. com kinda like eBay.
I just ordered att note8 for 573$ total with taxes and shipping included. I trade in my old freedompop iphone5 for 200 off. former note7 user get another 225 off.
If you used the same email on that link that you used when you bought and or returned your Note 7, they will already have your info. That being said, they are giving $425 and I did not see a place to return the Note 7 for the $425 although in another thread someone said if you call Samsung you can get them to allow you to return the Note 7 if you still have it.
Australia are thinking about honoring the discount. I called them the other day to ask and they rang back to confirm my details and said there would be an announcement soon. Hopefully they will finally give back to the Aussies who were burned (literally) by the Note7 debacle. But im not holding my breath if anything it will be a token effort.
Samsung is a friggin joke - the exchange and recall was a catastrophe in Germany (I had to wait until end of December to get my money back) and they offer 0 benefits for Note 7 owners. Nothing, nada.
I find this behaviour seriously terrible, not only did the consumers in the US get a goodie for their trouble with the Note 7 (we got NONE - yet I had to drive to the post office several times and had to take time off from work to get the damn thing picked up, twice).
I am not sure if I will buy a Note 8 again from this crappy company, not after many of us here got shafted without a any kind of appreciation or sorry from their side.

Same in the UK. Not many made it to Europe so I would have thought it would be a great way for cheap good will. But alas nothing.
Yeh, thats what I would have done, but Samsung values US customers a lot higher than European customers.
Well as I thought Samsung in Australia have only offered a token refund of $250 but only to people who purchased directly through Samsung. Aparently I dont qualify because I bought it from a carrier (Telstra) AND TELSTRA are completely ignoring their customers and are offering NOTHING to replace the handset when previously they were giving an inferior S7 for them. Im not happy at all with Telstra they are being SCUM about it.
