[Q] Proximity sensor.. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has the issue with the proximity sensor and screen protectors been resolved?

Use a protector with cut outs

Bummer. I so wanted to put the zagg back on... Oh well, time to find one that fits more than the one from big red.
Thanks for the reply.

Butterfly S proper screen protector

Hi to everyone, I got my S a few days ago and I'm very satisfied. Of course I've applied a screen protector on it, but it doesn't look good, because it doesn't follow the curvature of the screen around the edges. I did make a search but no product states what I'm looking for.
Has anybody found something that will look better or even smaller protector that ends when the curve starts?
Thank you in advance.:good:
i ordered 3 screen protectors for my butterfly s and when it arrived it was like 2millimeters off which i was kinda pissed. so i contacted the buyer and explained the situation. they were nice enough to send me three new screen protector. hopefully it will cover up the 5inch display properly

I hope that the new ones will cover the full screen, if that is you want. After a thorough search I found the following site and I ordered two screen protectors. In the description it's stated: "We Custom Cut to avoid the Curved Edge, Make Sure It Won't Come Off the Curved Screen!". Three options for the BS Ultraclear screen protector, Antiglare and mirror.
I'll post again when they arrive and be applied.

Just got my HTC Butterfly S. Loving it .. but can't find any screen protector for it. Any luck from other users? Really wanted to get a fitting screen protector for this phone.
Will be getting mine this weekend. I ordered Gadgetshieldz wet install full body protector for $7 (including shipping and discount) yesterday and will see if it's any good.

Not sure if this helps but I went through a bunch of screen protectors and all of them basically lifted on the sides of my butterfly S due to the slight curved screen. I ended up buying these Stealth Shields on eBay and basically fit perfectly. They install like Zagg and Ghost Armor screen protectors where you need to slightly wet the protector but once you squeeze out the excess liquid, it was all flat on the screen with no bubbles. It feels more like a Zagg shield than a Ghost Armor one.
So far so good after 2 weeks of use. No lifting or anything.
Hope it helps. I can't post links yet cuz I don't have enough posts. If you need the link, just PM me.

So my screen protector arrived and it as the exact same size does not cover the five inch screen need to find one thy fits
Sorry for the bad shot. It was taken on an iPhone 5 lol. Just showing that it covers from top to bottom without peeling on the sides. The protector could have been lower to the edge but I'm not good at installing these. I guess it's better than nothing.

Please check if proximity sensors are working properly with the protector. I browsed all sites and didn't find any protector with cut off for proximity sensors.
Just received my GadgetShieldz yestrerday. It got proximity sensor holes. I haven't put them on yet. Probably this weekend but it looks like the whole screen and back is covered.Sorry cant post a pic.

The proximity sensors are covered up on mine and didn't realize it til u pointed it out. So far, I haven't had a single issue. Screen turns off during calls. Is there anything else to test? Auto brightness works properly but is that a different sensor?

Yes it is a different sensor right next to the light sensor, thus the oval cut in most screen protectors.

Waiting for review of screen protector. I don't bother about scratches on the phone body.

Nillkin Fresh Leather Flipcase

Just got this case in. It's the only alternative so far to the HTC Dot View case. It has a little window that shows the time/callerID portion of the Dot View function. The latch is magnetic and will activate the wake/sleep function on the phone. The fit is very good and the cutouts are precise. Great quality for only $8 shipped.
Coucou!
I've just received mine today. Happy, as it is beautiful, well maid and fit really well to my M8.
But I don't know how to display time, phone call numbers and so on, in the little plastic windows when the cover is shut... Anyone can help, please?
Coucou !
Sorry, I fix my problem with a reboot.
By the way, the display doesn't last that much... Is it possible to tune this ?
Thanks
Can anyone confirm if this case works with tempered glass screen protectors?

I'm not sure, but I think so, as the case is quite loose. I think you should try, as I really enjoy it.
Hello All. Just got my new Nillkin Fresh for HTC One M8S and can't make sleep mode work.
It does not get to sleep or wake up when I close/open the cover.
Also when I wake it up with power button, it opens with normal screen layout.
No peek screen or anything like s-view.
Can anybody help?
Hello !
Which ROM are you using ? As it works perfectly with Orange stock ROM, but it stops working after a while with last CM13... I need then to reboot.

Screen stays off when making phone calls.

I've noticed when I make a phone call the screen will sometimes stay black and won't come back on. Horrible when the person does not answer and I have to wait for the voice-mail limit to be reached or I have to pull the battery. I recently added tempered glass but I doubt that's what the problem is. Any ideas?

I've also notice that if my screen is off for a while, double tapping the screen won't work but if I press the power button on back then double press the screen it shuts off and if I quickly double tap again screen turns back on. Temper glass the culprit you think? I mean sliding through pages and pressing screen items works perfectly.

If you have a tempered glass protector that covers the proximity sensor then that is definitely the culprit. It's not an issue with the glass on the screen but an issue with the glass covering the light sensor.
The screen would have issues turning on after removing the phone away from my face to the point where I couldn't end the call unless the other party ended the call (or if I pulled the battery).
The knock on feature also didn't work a lot of the time (after keeping the phone screen off for like 10 minutes) because of the proximity sensor being covered.
Once I removed the cheap tempered glass protector, everything started to work just fine.
I recently bought a Yootech tempered glass with a cutout for the proximity sensor and have had no issues with calls or the knock on feature. The Preson and Nillkin tempered glass also work since those also don't cover the proximity sensor.
I bought a bunch of cheap tempered glass protectors from ebay and got a refund on all of them since they all covered the sensor and didn't work properly. This was never a problem with the G3 but I guess the G4 has a sensitive light sensor.

So the knock on feature also is affected by the sensor as well huh? So I guess I do end a new glass because the sensor is covered. Thank you!

Spigen tempered glass screen protector blocks the incall sensor that turns screen off

So I applied the screen protector and everything was fine until I noticed that while Im on the phone with someone and I cant turn my screen on. The screen protector covered that sensor and I had to throw it away, along with my 12$...
Anyone had a similar problem? Maybe I applied it wrong?

contact the seller you got it from, if you bought from ebay or amazon or used paypal you should be able to get your money back. It is a know fault.
I received the updated Spigen protector today with the proper cutout for the motion sensor. It fits and works perfectly now!
I just contacted Spigen through Amazon. Hopefully I can get mine replaced with the correct cutouts

What a pity.Try another .:crying:

Can full Screen Protector affect SOLI radar?

I've been searching tempered glass protectors for my regular Pixel 4, and some of them leave almost top of the screen unprotected, which I don't like at all. I've found one that has two holes for camera and speaker, but top right of the screen is protected, so it's over SOLI radar.
Do you think that Motion Sense feature could somehow be affected by this? I'm not familiar to how a radar works.
Thanks a lot.
It's radar, it sends out a signal and has to sense any interferences and reflections coming back. Block that it it won't work at all.
May also stop face unlock working if you block IR emitters.

Highly doubtful. It may hinder, but most radar devices are in some sort of enclosed housing.

I must say I've got that protector from yesterday, and SOLI radar and Motion Sense just work. But, I was wondering if it could affect in any way...
It definitely has an effect. I have a protector with a cutout and positioned it slightly too high, covering a small bit of the soli sensor window. That basically prevented MotionSense from detecting my hand when I grabbed my phone at very small angles. I always wondered why face unlock wasn't triggered when I grabbed my phone - that seems to have been the reason. I repositioned the protector and now it works.
So I bought a clear tempered glass screen protector, with no black edges. It had a large cut out at the top (essentially a giant notch) for all the seniors etc. However I think it is interfering with the soli radar as it no longer works with music etc ?
essentially it seems screen protectors will next to fit exactly with the radar otherwise they will cause interference!
Same thing happened to me with my Pixel 4. Bought a invisible Shield put on worked for two songs! And it stopped working.. Removed it, and is working again.
I am running a full screen protector and I have experienced no issues with the sensor. This is just a cheap screen protector that came with my case.
I can't post links yet but if you look on Amazon for sunnyw Google Pixel 4 XL Case with full screen protector you can see what it looks like.
The only cutouts in the screen protector is for the speaker and prox sensor.

Is it tempered glass, or plastic one?
I'm using a full screen protector, only cut outs are the ones on the left which the camera reside. The soli radar and face unlock works perfectly with no hiccups.
