Stock firmware - T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any way of flashing the stock firmware without a computer? Maybe using Odin mobile or flashify or some sort of software like that?

Hey thanks man. I was able to use this app and it worked great. Flashed the stock firmware without using a computer and finish flashing it in less than 5 minutes. That chain fire guy is a genius. ?

Safest Way To Root

Hey everybody, I just got my note 3 this morning. I'm not new to rooting but I don't know the root procedure for this phone. Could someone please guide me in the right direction? My build number ends with MI9 if that helps ..

IF using MI9, use RDLV on it, and quickly, before it gets the OTA update (I'd disconnect it from networks entirely until it was rooted. Don't use RDLV if it's gotten the update!)
If it's not on MI9 anymore, your only options are kingo/vroot. Both of those are not allowed to be linked to on XDA because of suspicions about them being malicious (though many people have used them and reported no issues)
Downloaded rdlv last night left my phone charging woke up to my wife playing on it. She took the update cuz the phone asked her if she wanted to update. :banghead: anyway to downgrade don't really wanna use the other 2 options

No, you cannot downgrade the firmware. I think trying bricks it and trips knox warranty void.

RDLV is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2474422
Kingo/vroot - we're not allowed to link to here.

I'm rooted, thanks again but I have one more question, is there a way to get rid of the unlocked lock logo on the boot screen?

SM-N9005 firmware

Has anyone ever tried flashing the international version nc2 firmware on to their SM-N900A? If so did the phone work? Or did it brick? I'm just curious. Was thinking of doing this but, I don't want to brick my phone. Don't care if I trip knox.

Stock firmware will screw your phone. Only use a custom ported ROM.
Why would you want to flash the stock international firmware anyways.

I've always found the international versions to run games and apps so much more smoother ever since the captivate days. I like to play games and run a lot of apps on my phone and for some reason international versions always out performs the at&t bloated crap.

So what if I would use a kernel for the n9005 to get custom recovery. Would that screw up my phone aswell?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yes. Locked bootloaders. If you were able to successfully flash it (you wouldn't) it would brick. You would need to unlock the bootloaders (can't be done at this time) to be able to flash a different kernel.
If any of this were possible (it's not) we would not be having a problem.

Basically... There is a lot more than just flashing required to make stuff work. The code has to be modified to run on our device, as well as bootloaders being signed and locked to each phone.

Thanks graydiggy for your help. If that's the case I would rather just use all these nice ROMs that all these fine devs have prepared for us. Also what tutorial would you recommend to learn how to port ROMs to our device? I've been wanting to learn this for a long while now.

I have no idea about tutorials for software...
But this is a good place to start http://xda-university.com
I'm more into hardware mods than anything.

S3 root-> Odin mobile

Hey guys, it's safe to root my s3 gt-i9305 (Android 4.3) by Odin mobile? (I know I will lose my warranty). It's the same thing than use Odin for PC? I will use Cf auto root. Thanks in advance

I would appreciate a answer...

you can't use odin mobile unless you're rooted. so you can't use OM to root your phone, because you have no root priviledges required to run OM.
so, as long as you're non-rooted, you have to use desktop odin
But I can't plug the phone to my computer.. Give me always a error!

I moved from Miui to Stock using Odin Mobile and after that I was not able to connect my phone to my computer.
The error message basically says USB device not recognized or malfunctioned.
You can see my post in Q&A - no solution so far.
I am about to give up and trade in my phone with the telco.
are you guys able to connect in download mode? if yes, flash your firmware again using ODIN
maybe there's some issue related to bootloader/firmware version conflict resulting in USB issues
-------
EDIT: just noticed you've got similar answer in the parallel thread an hour ago
But.. I don't want do brick my phone again, I already bricked him once, I just want to root him, nothing else.. If Odon detect the phone and the PC doesn't there is any problem? The probability of brick the phone increase? Thanks

I'm afraid there's not one. You have to use odin.

+1 Odin is really your only option. It takes less than 5 minutes to flash.
