im using an htc kaiser 8925 and in all honesty im pretty new to wm 6.1 and the phone in general. mine is unlocked, and i havent messed with any roms yet. oh and im using it on t-mobile too. the problem im having is i cant get it to connect to my home router, and i dont know what to do. all im trying to use is the wifi, i havent purchased the t-mobile internet package yet. i have no clue which wifi settings to change or what to change them too. i cant receive picture messages either, if someone could help me figure this stuff out as well i would greatly appreciate it.
First:
Make sure your home router is BROADCASTING the SSID. You might have turned it off for security reasons? If it is turned off, your phone can't find the wireless network.
Second:
Start the phone's COMM MANAGER and turn on wireless - it should find your home network automatically - no matter if you have encryption on there or not!
If the phone does not give you a notification message about the network it found, click in the COMM MANAGER on SETTINGS - WIRELESS and delete all listed networks in there. Afterwards turn off Wireless again, restart your phone and then turn wireless on again ... try if that helps!
ugh it was the wireless in the comm manager thanks alot
Regarding your picture msgs, T-mobile normally require you to send a picture message to enable it. After you've sent one you should be ok Just make sure you've got the T-mobile mms settings setup
Hey guys,
so I've just discovered how awesome the profiles in CM11 are (never used them before) and now I want one profile to enable airplane-mode and enable WiFi (so that I don't have cellular connectivity but WiFi), that's my home-Profile, but the order is wrong so it will first enable WiFi and then enable airplane-Mode which will disable WiFi right away and then I have no connection and need to manually enable WiFi again, it should be the other way around, is there any way of changing that order so that it first enables airplane-mode and then enables WiFi?
Thanks for your time and help in advance.

Don't know if this will help you but you can do this with Tasker from Google Play store.
I'm trying to find a hotspot widget, specifically one that enables and disables the built in AT&T hotspot. Yes I do have this enabled and authorized by AT&T, it just would be nice to have a widget where I just press it and it toggles it on and off. I've tried several from the marketplace but none of them worked, they would try to verify and it looked like it would turn on for a split second, but then turn off.

I like power toggles.

A widget that tries to enable hotspot, but shuts down sounds like you're not able to tether, or haven't configured your hotspot yet. Are you able to enable hotspot thru the system settings?

Hmm that doesn't work either. It will say "Please wait while verifying" then nothing, and the hotspot isn't turned on. My hotspot is working and setup, I have named it and put in a password and I can manually go into settings-connections-tethering and portable hotspot and click it on and it turns on and off just fine.
Anyone else have trouble with this?

You wouldn't happen to be rooted by any chance?

I wish, I'm one of the poor saps who upgraded to kitkat.
same issue here
Going to bump this because I have the exact same issue on a rooted galaxy s5. I used hotspots toggle Widgets on my s4 without issue for years, but that one typically had custom Roms. On the s5 I'm running rooted stock 4.4.2
I do have legal tethering with at&t, and use it frequently so if anyone has a fix I'd greatly appreciate the info.

i think theres root on kitkat now by geohotz. if you somehow root your phone, install Dynamic Kat, i has hotspot toggle on the quick settings, I use it all the time.
I'm getting an unlocked (SIM unlocked) T-Mobile Dev Edition. I wonder if native Wi-Fi tethering works without rooting. Please let me know if you have the answer. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by Wifi tethering; but Im able to share my LTE connection via Wifi to other devices without issue just by going to Settings- > More... -> Tethering & portable Hotspot ...
Here you will find all you need to setup password and hostpot name. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's what I want to do. Did you have to root your Moto X Dev Edition?
Thanks
I can do it and my phone is not unlocked or rooted.

Nope. I haven't rooted it for this. I will eventually for some other features [Exposed Framework] after i see what Moto X 2014 features are backported to the phone and after Android L is released.
As long as you have one of the simple choice plans that includes wifi tethering, then it just works. If you are on the prepaid plans, then there is a workaround for it by modifying the APN (used to work anyway, dunno if it still does).
hi..
I have Moto X 1053 bootloader unlocked on stock and rooted 4.4.4. I can have native hotspot (wifi tethering) but after a few minutes of inactivity, it dies out. I mean on various other handsets I've seen and used this option Mobile Hotspot settings > Inactivity timeout but here in X1053 I cant seem to find any option where I can set it to never sleep after X mintues of inactivity.
Please guide if any tweak/xposed module can help me on this. Very important for me.
Hello all,
Recently i went to make a hotspot for my cars radio since the WIFI antenna doesn't get a good signal and i did not have the option to share WIFI. The only way i would be able to make a hotspot was to add it to my plan.. Which im not gonna do obviously since i only use it very often... Was this feature removed? I'm running Android 10 on ATT. It worked a few weeks ago... Any help?
Maybe some screenshot can help the other to answer for your problem

if youre running stock firmware, it doesnt shock me that your providers CSC locked out the native wifi sharing. If you flash the U1 firmware for your device (ubranded, directly from Samsung) then youll have that option again. I did that exact same thing on my S9

2 questions...
1. Where can i find these "u1 unbranded" firmware?
2. Would this affect anything on my phone from my provider? such as data.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry... you're right a SS would of been useful.
As you can see no selection for WiFi share. Also, i need to disable WiFi in order to hotspot now.
IT is there, just a bit hidden...
Goto Settings... Connections... Mobile Hotspot and Tethering..top on the left of the Mobile Hotspot Toggle line (just tap the M of Mobile)... click on the 3 vertical dots on the top right...... voila... Wi-fi Sharing shows up!!!

yes, you have to turn off wi-fi before you can run your own hotspot, it probably just did it without alerting you to it before. These devices only have 1 wifi radio and it cant use one wifi while producing its own also
here is the U1 firmware should you decide to flash it. doesnt sound like its strictly necessary as others might have found a solution for you, but here it is anyways

Appreciate all the information.
What is the benefit (besides getting rid of bloat on the phone from ATT) for using the u1 firmware?
That's about it. Well that and the boot animations and so forth as well

Since the most recent Samsung update I haven't been able to use hotspot either. I'm hoping to find a way to downgrade.
