For the HTC ONE M8
Welcome to Desolation Rom!! Our goal is to provide users with a unique staple in android development which aims at stability and optimizations with what we feel is the perfect amount of features. We hope you enjoy this rom as much as we have enjoyed working as a great team building it.
Features:
Optimizations:
* Layers 2.1 Support
* Strict Aliasing
* 03 Optimizations
* Krait Optimizations
* Various Speed Optimizations
Rom Specific Tweaks:
* Custom Battery Styles and Options
* Clock And Date Customizations
* Boot Animation Options ( Boot Selection Still a work in progress)
* Slims Navigation Customizations
* Hardware Key Support
* SlimPie
* Heads Up Options
* Network Traffic Options
* Notification Drawer Tweaks
* Power Menu Options
* Recent Apps Options
And much more to come
Instructions:
You need an unlocked bootloader M8 and we recommend latest TWRP
(Make sure you are on the latest firmware!)
1. Download the Rom and Gapps and place in the root of your internal storage
2. Boot into TWRP. (Making a backup before flashing is always recommended)
3. I always recommend clean flashing coming from any rom. To do so go to Wipe and swipe to perform a factory reset. I also personally go to advanced wipe and checkmark all but internal storage and wipe there too.
4. Flash ROM and Gapps under Install
5. Reboot and enjoy.

sms settings and play services
Boot animation is wip: also,
Settings-> Battery.

Quick Battery settings:
Pull down notification tap battery.

If its not there, we will look into things further.

Also a quick note for Boot Animations. You do have custom zip filtering.

Place a pure bootanimation.zip(not one that gets flashed in recovery) on internal storage Downloads. It should show up in the list. Its set up to use it until you wipe system again, for flashing a new ROM. It will not persist between flashes.
@izzaeroth I think that maybe gapps playing a part for location services.
SMS settings fix is in the works. Will be looking into it.

Here is what's listed on BaNks
### GApps for Android 5.1.x Lollipop by BaNkS -Dynamic Google Play Services (dpi), Google App (Search), Swypelib, and FaceLock based on cpu architecture (arm and arm64) -Core Google syncing apks -Google App (Search) for "OK Google" everywhere feature -FaceLock for SmartLock feature -All corresponding libs/files/etc. for the above to work properly -Nothing more and nothing less
It's not an aroma also just a regular install of the above listed apps n stuff
I'm liking what I see, but I have a strange issue where the home button doesn't work. The back and apps buttons work, but the home button clicks but never produces the home screen.
If I go to running apps then press home, it works, but if I press home from within and app, settings, drawer, etc. it doesn't work.

I installed the Gapps package, but let me try it again as I did a Titanium restore and perhaps overwrote a Gapp.

Glad you're enjoying it! Thanks for the feedback as well. I've been running it myself and so far found that FM radio doesn't want to work. Other than that I'm quite pleased.
Dude... Bluetooth working flawlessly. First AOSPlike L rom I found with working Bluetooth. I'd donate if I wasn't MC Hammer broke. Thanks.
I can download the file without any problem, but I can't view the md5.....any ideas?

Hi
I tried the newer version. I did not due a full wipe. After install, I kept getting a message that Google play had stopped. I reinstalled Gapps, but it continued. I just went back to 2.7.. No more messages. Do I need to do a full wipe or is anyone else having the same problem?
Thank you
no mobile data on CDMA . When I went to check the APN's, I found the list to be completely empty
I decided to give 2.8 a shot and so far so good. To this point everything I've used (data, call and text) seems to be working well, but I haven't used it 24 hours yet and will post back if I come across any issues. I'll be trying GPS and the hotspot later so those are still an unknown.

Yes, I did a full wipe including system. Since my first post I also tried out the GPS and hotspot (internet included) and they are both working.
Think I should pass along that during the setup after reboot there is a process called something like cellular phone set up (not exactly what it's called but you will know when you see it). About 2 minutes into this set up it will pop up a SU request and if you're not paying attention you will miss it.

I like this, but I'm having an issue with LTE coming and going.
I hope this log will work to get it fixed. I don't want to restore a backup, so if anyone has a solution to make it stick, please respond.

Edit: It appears a restart may have fixed it, but it may be something to look at anyway.

The 12/05 Build had problems with SIM not being detected or bootloops and as previously mentioned just go with build date since I don't make clean as I often don't make clean until I have to and I just moved all of my builds to afh as more as an archive for m8 builds

I have, and I either get a system UI continuous FC or it corrupts my recovery (TWRP). Ive used pico and banks on this rom and AICP. The FC isn't a big ordeal because I can revert back thru a backup, but the corruption means I have to re-fastboot a GPE RUU, and go through the whole process all over again. I'm using Wolla simply because gapps is integrated. Pico worked for ink's cm13 rom, but I don't know about using ink's cm13 rom with banks.
Edit: I've been using opengapps from opengapps.org, or something like that. I've always used the pico version because of size. Is that a different gapps from the link you provided ?

I'll have to play with it, but at first glance it looks like something was moved in one of the ROM repos and might work perfectly fine after I make another clean build.

I guess @Silently just wants to know (so I do) which characteristics of this ROM might encourage us to switch to it. Is there any features list?
I'd like to know too. Maybe the dev will update his original post or fill out a reserved post with more information.
Based on a youtube video of the 5.1.1 version -- the only list my quick search turned up -- it has quicksettings enhancements, extra sound control such as volume steps, app bar, heads up, and gestures. I cannot confirm these as I haven't tried this ROM.
I might just give this ROM a whirl.
@johan111 @Silently @danny8
Well, we can consider this rom like an all in one rom. Now dont have too much features just because is one of the first builds yet.
First honestly is one of the smoothest rom i have tried for xperia sp and now that im trying it on peregrine is more or less the same (i have spent only one day at this moment. Im testing it yet) . And about features, the usuals as gesture anywhere, app circle bar, app bar, wakelock blocker, animations. Also three fingers gesture to make screenshots, toast icon setting, recentssettings such as slim recents, memory bar, app sidebar combinated with slim recents, lock screen settings like weather, shortcuts, dt2s to turn off..... And nova launcher by default.

I struggled to open the play store, forced closure, as happens with systemUi and settings. Everything else works perfect.
I gave this ROM a try and here are my quick & dirty reactions. I say "quick and dirty" because I did not install this ROM properly. I ended up doing a factory reset (via TWRP) to make my phone bootable. You should follow instructions in the OP if you're planning to install this ROM.
I dirty-flashed over my CM13 setup ( 4G / peregrine Moto G) and experienced a boot-loop after the dalvik cache finished rebuilding. Doing a factory reset in TWRP made the phone bootable, but I had no Google apps after booting successfully. THIS PARAGRAPH IS MERELY EXPLANATORY; DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO REPEAT THIS PROCEDURE.
This ROM has a nice collection of added features: volume enhancements, extra UIs such Pie & Slim recents ,stock Nova launcher, and a much-expanded settings app. The settings apps enhancements are nicely done and well-organized. This ROM appears to be a blend of AOSP and CM13 components (not a skilled dev here; please feel free to set the record straight.)
I was hoping to see more in the way of quick-settings options, but so much there is new to Marshmallow I can't nitpick.
I experienced a few FCs but nothing that froze or rebooted my phone. I did not get a chance to try the Play Store. The stock browser would FC and I couldn't get on the wifi internet as I'm in a cafe that uses a portal page. The captive portal app FCed as well. All the above might be related to not have gapps installed. Thought about flashing gapps but decided to roll back to CM13.
Not exactly a fair review, but from what I've seen this ROM deserves consideration. Especially if you like extra UIs like Pie and Gestures.
I will check that FCS and also of there's some problems with gapps. But flashing it at the same time as the ROM should work perfectly.
Btw, some FCS could be because the new permission manager of marshmallow. You can try to add more permissions to each app in settings/apps

FAQ:
Q Does this ROM support Xposed?
A No, Xposed is a hack that is geared towards AOSP, custom ROM's modify the framework a lot, so Xposed can cause a ton of issues on custom ROM's. Now it might work for you, however it is not to be disscused in this thread, and you should refrain from posting bug reports while using it as Xposed can cause a lot of bugs.
Q Alright, but I still want to flash Xposed, so which version do I need to install?
A Use the version arm sdk 23.
Q Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A If I have one I will probably give it to you, don't ask for one though, it is very rude to do this.
Q Do I need to provide a log if I'm reporting a bug?
A If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a log.
Q I installed a bad theme and now I'm getting a bootloop, how do I fix it?
A In TWRP go to Mounts & check System then go to the Advanced tab & use the File Manager to delete the bad Layers from system/vendor/overlays, or you can just delete the overlays folder.
Q Can the builds be dirty flashed over each other?
A Yes, however make a nandroid first as there is a chance of getting a bootloop or encountering bugs, also bugs may only be reported on a clean flash.
Q How do I get a logcat, and what type should I get, and more questions that can conviently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A Read this thoroughly.

Bro, in loving this ROM, but I'm actually liking the brokenOS,, not sure why, I just like it. Both ROMs are super fast. One thing, the weather widget doesn't show my location, it's stuck on a preset location 5 miles down the road, no biggie, but a fix would be awesome, thanks for your hard work... Also I was never a big fan of layers, I'd always get some apps would show certain things black on black. I bought the spectrum theme and I'm loving the layer option.

Ok. For the weather, i took WeatherProvider.apk and cLock.apk from temasek cm13 just because i knew that one worked installed them in there respective places, then after an art and cache wipe, placed the cLock widget on my homescreen, and boom!!! Found my location!! I noticed yahoo weather has to be selected

Could you upload the two apk's somewhere? I could make a flashable zip that would install them. I'll also see if I can include them in the ROM by default.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_c2hdjSBKMAeXlJVlJoZ1J2T00/view?usp=docslist_api I did a clean install and tried to flash these right after the rom. But it didn't work..... it did work when I place them where they belong with a Root browser open up the zip and the apps are in their respective folders, place them there manually and it should work I did cache and Dalvik wipe also. You can't click on the clock app directly you have to place the widget on your home screen and adjust the weather settings from there. At least that's how i got it to work

The BrokenOS team doesn't allow any BrokenOS ROM threads to be on XDA, and XDA doesn't want them on it either because of a certain anti XDA wall that's in the ROM. Thanks though, you can also say thanks to the broken team in their Google plus community, we shouldn't discuss broken in this thread though.

I never really use that feature to be honest, if I ever do want weather info I just use Google now. Unless if you're asking about the flashable zip, in which case: I am working on it.
Just seeing if it works on your device as well, i service swimming pools in vegas, it's nice to know when it's 115° in part of the town and then 120°in the other??

As a member of the BrokenOS team I am here to explain to you why @mosimchah can't and won't create a BrokenOS thread.
BrokenOS isn't on XDA for 3 reasons.
1. We like to handle users rougher than XDA will allow.
2. When we allowed unofficial threads on XDA they gave out misinformation about the ROM including but not excluding: ROM base, features, and apps.
3. Due to past issues and politics of XDA we include certain wallpapers which make XDA mods mad, so the ROM is banned until those wallpapers were removed. We refused to remove a part of the ROM to please a select group. This resulted in a ban of BrokenOS, until an annoying drama happen recently with an unofficial device maintainer decided to remove the wallpaper app causing issue with the ROM. So making history, our lead developer, Ken and senior mods made a mutual deal to get out of each other's hair and XDA agreed to remove all official and unofficial threads of BrokenOS so that we as a team would quit pestering them.
BrokenOS now restricts who can build BrokenOS and since @mosimchah is a friend he is allow to post unofficial builds in the broken community and only in the broken community.
