You'd assume there's a nice, detailed instruction on this, but there isn't.
I WILL DONATE TO THE DUDE(S) WHO MAKE A SUCCESSFUL DETAILED TUTORIAL!
It's high time we have instruction for anyone with a Bell Atrix device wishing to upgrade their phone to Gingerbread (2.3.4). I'm still struggling at 2.2.1, and have strong background in IT, but still new to all this Android gig.
My device story - bought it second hand, seller indicated it was rooted and unlocked. It's a Bell device, and I have it working on Telus. I've been able to do some 'rooted' methods on it, so I suspect I do have root access. But now I want gingerbread, and have been working on it on and off...for months!
Details are...
System Ver - Blur_Version.0.37.4.MB860.BellMobility.en.CA
Model # - MB860
Android Ver - 2.2.1
Baseband ver - N_01.77.06P
Kernal ver - 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Build # - OLYLA_U4_0.37.4
Naturally you're going to ask "Well what has the dude done so far??"
They are...
Downloaded the following:
IHOP_Bell.rar
RSDlite
Moto-Fastboot
recovery-en-goapk-0630-1029.zip
Gobstopper 2.2.2
Gobstopper 2.3.4
Steps done so far...
Unzipped IHOP_Bell.rar (inside there is: intl-fix-try1.spf, but someone recommended I use IHOP_Bell.sbf, yet there is no such file, just the intl...try1.spf file)
Installed, loaded RSDlite, hold down vol button, and pressed power, scrolled through options until came to RSD, then pressed up to start 'recovery thing'. Plugged phone in, RSDlite program saw phone, selected the intl...try1.spf file, pressed 'Start'.
As it was processing, the phone still loaded up as if it was in regular mode (showing Android lock screen, etc), and the RSDlite program was still processing nicely...after about 3-4 mins, it was at 100%, indicated to 'manually reboot phone'. To do this, while the phone is still plugged in, I went into my phone and selected 'Powerboot' to 'Reboot'. It reboot, and the RSDlite program indicate 'PASS'.
Whoopie.
Then proceeded to do the Fastboot step (I hate this part).
So with phone off, I held down the vol down button, pressed power...came up with 'Fastboot' on it, pressed vol up button to select 'recovery protocol'.
Using Win7 cmd mode, typed: moto-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (I changed file name to recovery so it's shorter).
Ugh...so this is what happens: "Failed to process command flash :recovery error (0x180002)"
Obviously I have 'write' issues to flash the img, what am I doing wrong here guys?? This is where I'm stuck.
PLEASE IN ALL THAT'S HOLY AND MERCIFUL - help a fellow geek out here, please? :]
Thanks.

Try downloading rom manager and flashing the recovery through it. Or download Romracers version and flash it through the recovery that you already have.
Also when u boot your phone does it tell u unlocked in too left of screen? If not check the pudding thread to make sure u r unlocked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261
There its a forum with gingerbread for u also floating around here somewhere. Try googling with Xda in the title. Or search the forums. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195922

Maybe try this as an alternative. But very odd that you tried rsd and it did that.
Open Terminal Emulator Type in SU Then Hit Enter Example: $SU #
Type in flash_image recovery /sdcard/(what ever the name of the IMG file).img Hit Enter Example: #flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img

Did you run the fastboot oem unlock command?
You have to run it once, then copy the code it spits out, and run it again with that code at the end. This will unlock the bootloader which will allow you to flash the recovery image. There's a tutorial here
After you get that recovery flashed, you can download the gobstopper 2.3.4 which has the latest bell gingerbread rom. Just a note, you'll have to run the bell ihop again. The 2.3.4 gobstopper replaces the unlocked bootloader with a locked one. (you wont have to type the oem unlock command again)
You will have to re flash the recovery though.
Why posting here, you are trying to make a guide but unable to follow forum instructions.
WRONG FORUM!
Thread closed.
I've had this phone for a few days and I bricked it by reverting my build.prop from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55838361&postcount=2 . It is an unlocked phone T-Mobile D959 on 4.4.2. I was having lots of trouble and crashing apps so I decided to start fresh and replace with this file from the thread. After replacing, it does not allow me to boot. Factory hard reset does not work (since I believe it does not change build.prop). It shows Android mascot for ~10 seconds and then black screen. If I start phone normally the screen will boot LG logo then go to black with front notification light constantly flashing from cyan to green and looping.
I do not have a custom recovery and I can only access "Download Mode." I have tried the KDZ flashing with LG Flash Tool 2014 with LG_KDZ_FW-Update_OfflineFix. I keep getting an error at 2%/3% of the last step depending on the setting (3% on CS_EMERGENCY, 2% on EMERGENCY, 2% on DIAG). I am putting the phone on COM41 and tried both USA/KITKAT KDZ files.
Does anyone know what settings I need for this method?
I have also tried the LG Flash Tool 1.5 with TOT using a different variant's *.TOT file in hopes it would work long enough to boot/think of a new solution but this fails due to a cross firmware check.
I see that some people on this forum were able to do it then fix their phone after a few more steps. Someone used a .DLL from another firmware and the program let him flash. Does anyone know of any programs (or tricks to bypass cross firmware check) I can use to flash a different/wrong variant's *.TOT file?
This is a strange part of the 1st log file:

Make sure you have internet connection. And boot to "download mode." Plug your phone into your PC, open up the LG PC Suite software that comes on the phone. If you don't have it just go to http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-D959
About halfway down the page will be a download link for the "pc suite". Download it and run the .exe. Once you have it opened up click "mobile devices" on the top toolbar. And then select "Restore upgrade errors". And let it do it's magic.
I know this method works. I used it 2 days ago in kitkat and have used it about 20 other times. Due to having no custom recovery, once I softbrick this is what I have been using to come back to stock unrooted kitkat. Then I use " Dfuse's downgrade and unroot the easy way"

Thanks for the reply! The LG PC Suite method didn't work. It went through all the steps then failed.
Dang.
Please note: This thread is specific to the Che2-L11 model Honor 4xFor discussion pertaining to the Che1-L04 model click here.
Because there are some significant differences between the Honor 4x variants information can get confusing quite easily, therefore I decided to start a thread dedicated to the Che2-L11.
:good: Any information or discussion is welcome as long as it is about this particular model.
:fingers-crossed: Since the device is still relatively fresh, information is scarce. I will try to update and expand this post as we discover the possibilities of our shiny new phone.
Rooting the Che2-L11
There are currently no known tools or exploits that can be used to gain root under the stock firmware. Unlocking the bootloader will allow full access to the device, however at this time there are no known working custom recoveries or roms.
The official Huawei unlock page doesn't support it as of yet, neither by editing the product model information on that page like it works for some other models. Instead you can send an e-mail to [email protected] and provide the same information as requested on the unlock page.
Once you obtain the correct unlock code you can follow the unlocking procedure. Be careful when experimenting with recoveries or roms intended for other or similar models, they may brick or damage your device.
SD Cards >32GB
Although not officially supported, 64GB cards seem to work fine. The phone will recognise and use their full capacity automatically. It will most likely support 128GB cards as well but this is not yet confirmed.
Model numbers
The Honor 4x is being sold under several different model numbers divided into two basic groups: Che1 and Che2. Che stands for Cherry.
Che1 is based on the Snapdragon 410 chipset: Che1-CL10 (China/Telecom), Che1-CL20 (China/Netcom), Che1-L04 (India/Flipkart) and Che1-UL00.
Che2 is based on the Kirin 620 chipset: Che2-L11 (Europe), Che2-L12, Che2-L23, Che2-TL00, Che2-TL00H, Che2-TL00M and Che2-UL00.

I must have been doing something wrong then, although I did use [email protected] instead. Will try again with that address.
Have you tried any custom recoveries yet?
The reply also came from [email protected] so that must be the correct address. Just quickly tried the CWM made for Che2-TL00. It did boot once, but backup job crashed the phone and the recovery didn't boot anymore. Just flashed the stock recovery back
Have to try again this evening when I have more time.
Here's a link to the Che2-TL00 CWM recovery I used. I replaced the stock recovery in the zip-file with the Che2-L11 stock recovery. So this can be also used to bring the recovery back to stock.

I was able to flash SuperSU with it and now the device is rooted
so many different versions, support is going to be a nightmare...
tried [email protected] and [email protected] and did not receive a reply yet, it has been 2 days =( shame, really want to try new stuff on this phone, it was going to be my side project to try and port CM12 to my 4X CHE2-UL00, buy with a locked bootloader nothing I can do =(
Any other ideas where can I unlock my bootloader?
Finally replied, let the fun begin =)
Lollipop Update
I've asked Honor Europe about the lollipop update (5.x) for the Che2-L11. Here's the answer:
Thank yo for your message, It is not yet been planned for Q2, however we are working on the update to launch it soon. Stay tuned for more information. Honor Europe
So, we have to wait Q3 or Q4(!?).... maybe they update directly to 5.1?
BTW: Really need a root to install Link2SD. This would solve the (small) 8gb storage problem. Someone tried oneclick and other root tools to root the Honor 4x?
I just bought the phone not longer, I also want to root the phone.
Can you guys help me how to root the phone? Thanks!
Did you notice that you can change the preferred storage location to sdcard?
I have >3GB of apps installed and still over 1GB free internal storage. I can say I am a heavy user of different apps, and with a decent sd card (Samsung Pro U1 32GB), I have no problems to manage with the 4X, if compared to my other phones.

- After its done, restart your phone and if it prompt to install su, ignore it....
- Open supersu app installed in your phone and let it update its binaries...when done, reboot to recovery again and this time flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.67-20160121175247.zip
- Reboot your phone.
- Now you have successfully rooted Marshmallow
- Reference: [ROOT][MARSHMALLOW][HONOR 4C]
Final words, do this on your own risks as it voids the phone warranty.
Thanks!! Now waiting the unlock bootloader password.
Just a heads up. Like mentioned before, I never received a reply from [email protected], but from [email protected] I received a reply within an hour after sending the request.
I ask the code last night. I received this morning. My Honor 4X is rooted, thank you! :good:
Team, so I have a P9, I'm in Australia and about a week or so ago I followed this guide http://www.stechguide.com/root-and-install-twrp-recovery-on-huawei-p9/ to unlock my bootloader, install TWRP and gain root access. It all went well and I enjoyed root access using the stock Huawei ROM. I then decided to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/beta-android-nougat-7-0-emui-5-0-eva-t3497470 this ROM. Now, in the thread it says that to get back the things that had been missing like the camera, torch and clock apps to flash the second update. I did.
Now, this has knocked out my TWRP install and my root access, and apps like the camera etc. didn't come back the way they should have. So I think that I might either go back to a Stock ROM or to a different one all together - that is until the above mentioned process no longer works to install TWRP or gain root (through SuperSU).
What happens is that I connect my phone to my laptop, run
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then fastboot the TWRP.img recovery file, then do a
Code:
fastboot reboot
. When the device boots back up, it displays the phone is untrusted message and sits there, doesn't do anything, same thing as if I force power cycle it, boot to Android then
Code:
adb reboot recovery
. To me, that says that TWRP isn't installed?
Anyone able to give me some help?
Okay, to make it easier to help me (lol) I just followed this process:
Powered on, I rebooted into the bootloader by entering adb reboot bootloader
Then I installed TWRP by entering fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery.img - there were no errors within the Command Prompt or anything else stating that something hadn't worked
I then rebooted the device by entering fastboot reboot
Then let the phone reboot and load into Android - I then turned the device off and pressed VolUP+Power until the vibration, then let go of the power button
It's now sitting on the black screen reading "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" (so the bootloader is unlocked) then the link to the mod=restore page, then at the bottom "Your device is booting now" - now I assume it's trying to boot into TWRP, I just don't understand why it can't. Help?
Bump, I really need help guys cause I've lost Bluetooth as well!

Good point. I don't know if I've tried that. I did go onto the twrp website and download the version for my phone, but that wouldn't be nougat would it? It'd be marshmallow. I'll start there!
When I've got time tonight after my little one goes to sleep, I'm going to try this guide; https://www.gizdev.com/twrp-recovery-root-huawei-p9/ and hopefully that'll give me the recovery, at which point I'll jump to another ROM, maybe one that's a little more stock.

I think I'll try my guide first, as the one you've linked seems a little bit doom and gloom to be honest.
So, by way of update, I tried this;
Downloaded the TWRP from https://dl.twrp.me/eva/twrp-3.0.2-0-eva.img.html
Installed through ADB on the PC
And got this result;

Okay, so the issue is now solved. Details below; hopefully it'll help someone else out in the future.
Situation recap; my P9 had been unlocked, rooted and installed with TWRP recovery. Installed a the [BETA] Android NOUGAT 7.0 EMUI 5.0 (EVA-L09C432B322) ROM which lost me more than I cared to lose, such as Bluetooth, Torch, Recovery, ROOT, Clock, Huawei Camera and some more. I couldn't get recovery working back on my device to change ROM or anything - I feared all hope was lost.
I then found http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/stock-rom-dload-file-p9-eva-l09-b136-t3382818 which is the stock ROM installable through the force install, or three button method (Vol Up + Vol Down + Power). I downloaded this, created a folder on my SDCard named dload, copied it to there and proceeded with the three button method. Within 5 minutes, the stock ROM was installed and I was in business! I then proceeded with the standard http://www.stechguide.com/root-and-install-twrp-recovery-on-huawei-p9/ method of bootloader unlocking (as throughout the process it had locked again), TWRP install and ROOT access. There is a little bit of help that I can provide for when you're trying to find the bootloader unlock screen from within the Huawei website (as it's been moved or mislinked etc.) To get the bootloader unlock key:
Navigate to http://www.emui.com/en/
Click the Download link in the top nav bar
Click the Unlock Bootloader link
Agree to the T&C's
Enter in the data points it asks for
After that, continue through the process (note that after you unlock the bootloader, your phone will wipe) and you'll have a unlocked bootloader, with recovery installed and root access!
I'm not sure what you did wrong but I'm running the nougat beta and all the problems you mentioned about it doesn't happen to me.
Works great as a daily driver. Did you flash both the nougat zip and the camera zip? Meaning there was supposed to be two zip files to flash before rebooting because once you zip nougat, twrp disappears and you won't be able to flash the other zip.
Hi, I have the same issue.
The problem is mine is EVA L-19.
Can I follow your steps tho?
Hi guys! I been folowing this guide:
Installation Guide
Your phone must not be rooted
You must have stock recovery
Charge battery at least 60%
At least 6GB free storage
Make HwOU folder on internal memory/sd card
Make new folder 69374 on pc and copy both update.zip and data file to this folder.
Then copy this 69374 folder to HwOU folder on sd card / internal. (look like HwOU/69374)
switch off phone then press and hold 3 buttons (Vol up, vol down and power) until you see update screen.

Did you try to boot into fastboot and then recover your phone via HiSuite?
As far as I know HiSuite has restore option, but idk how to boot info fastboot mode.
I did try to do this but it's say on hiSuite the phone is connecting and when I press on that restore option it only instruct me to press up and down volume at the same time with power button so I do. Then it get stack at 5% when installing update message on the phone. Later the phone reboot itself and again stays in eRecovery. let me know if I do something wrong.
Edit: by Fast boot You mean to connect to hiSuite when pressed down volume bottom together with power button?
Yes that's fastboot

Yesterday I have flashed my AL-10 with a factory soft using DC-phoenix as I couldn't reflash it with a normal way. I ended up with a basic factory software allowing me to "form" actual model with a full software from huawei.
In fact I have lost some settings like imei but now I am in the process of restoring these numbers - this is nothing in compare to bricked phone which was useless. Give it a go....
