I hope I'm doing this right. Please feel free to let me know if I am using this forum incorrectly.
Before you ask, I've done a ton of Googling as well as searching this site specifically, and couldn't find the right answer. By all means if I'm missing something please point me to it, but I have done the research.
In an attempt to update my firmware, I tried to install the stock recovery. I tried the supposed "stock" recovery from several different sources, as well as several versions of TWRP. Sometimes it'll get stuck at "Entering Recovery..." and will stay there until the battery dies (built-in battery), sometimes it'll just immediately jump back to fastboot. In any case, ever since the first attempt I have been unable to get back to recovery. To make matters worse, I apparently wiped my system at some point. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, as I'd simply load back into recovery and factory reset, but since I don't have that option at the moment, my phone is bricked.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I've specifically searched for my specific model and my carrier and any other details that could set my phone apart from another to ensure I'm getting the right files, but nothing has worked for me.
Device Details:

Hi,
I moved your thread to the correct section.
First thing I see that's strange is you say you have the HK version but your info above indicates it's the non HK version. (cidnum: SPCS_001)
Sounds to me like you tried to flash the wrong firmware or twrp and it messed up your partitions.
Your best bet would be to run the latest RUU
Remember you need to re-lock your bootloader before running the RUU.
Latest TWRP can be found HERE

Thinking back, I feel like I opted to NOT get the HK edition. I believe the confusion came from a custom ROM I installed almost as soon as I made the purchase that had the options for HK, so ever since I can remember, I've seen it in my menus.

If you're right, that should be the problem. I'll try again with your supplied URL and after re-locking and let you know how it goes.
Thank you for your help.
That did the trick. Thank you so much for your help, Sloth.

This was my first time messing with my phones ROM, I am completely new to this, and I bricked my phone. Here is what happened.
I rooted my phone using the guide from htconeroot.com
Everything worked fine.
Then I followed a guide from htconeroot to install android 4.4 kitkat ROM
That is when my phone got stuck in bootloader. I could run recovery with clockworkmod but when i went to the back up file in my sdcard the folder was empty. I tried factory reset and erasing cache to no avail. I finally found a guide by qbking77 called "how to unroot/unbrick the htc one to stock" and have been attempting various RUU versions trying to get it to take. I always get ERROR 155 The ROM Update Utility cannot update your Android phone. After running the RUU I can no longer run recovery with clockworkmod.
I have spent all weekend trying to educate myself and get this fixed but I am lost.
Here is my getvar:

Well the first thing I noticed is you have an m7 wls, this is the spirint version of the HTC one, completely different to the normal version, so stop flashing things before you really do brick your phone, if you can get into the bootloader then your not bricked, yet, if you continue to try and flash wrong things you stand a high chance of messing up your blocks and partitions. Get yourself over to the m7 spirint forums for help.from here, just search for it above in the find your device box.

Your welcome, not a different service provider, a different phone, it's not a gsm phone.
I have literally spent more than 24 hours traversing the depths of internet hell looking for a fix for my phone. So what happened was I was flashing a rom and when it asked what carrier I was on I foolishly picked sprint. After that it has been a hell of bootloops. I couldn't even get into recovery. It showed me the TWRP screen startup for half a second and then proceeded to bootloop. Eventually I got a version of clockwork mod to work ( I used a ton of cmd commands to get to this point) but I am still without real progress.I was able to sideload viper but in the middle of installation it stopped and bootlooped again. At least I have a recovery now. I would be really, really grateful for any help.
The rom I messed up with was insert coin btw
i picked sprint foolishly because the rom I flashed before that somehow erased my phone radio. I wish I knew better. Figured I'll just use twrp to fix whatever happens. That didnt go too well.
Can anyone tell me where to go from here? Also depending on what I do the recovery bootloops as well

If you have a GSM phone and you flashed a Sprint or Verizon ROM/Radio that is the reason for bootloops. You will need to run a RUU or nandroid to reset your phone. Please post a fastboot getvar all removing the imei and serialno.

I could not find a RUU or nandroid for your phone. If you made a nandroid prior to trying insert coin or the previous custom rom now would be the time to use it. I also could not find a firmware.zip for your phone. One other thought, you might try to flash insert coin but select a GSM phone like T-Mobile, International or AT&T. It might put things back into the correct order.
This is a long shot, but if you could get S-OFF via firewater then you could flash a different RUU by changing your CID & MID.

Is it possible to flash a twrp backup from my laptop to my device? I was able to wipe the device which stopped the bootloops. I can also flash any other recovery and have them work properly now. But where do I go from here? I can't. get firewater because apparently you need a working internet connection on the device itself.:crying:
Yes. You can adb push your twrp nandroid backup to the phone. You just need to figure out the exact path

Ok so after alot of trial and error and whatnot my phone is back and running great. I was able to flash an old twrp to my device so I would have an os again. Then I flashed android revolution which has been working well since wednesday morning. What a journey. I'm inspired to help others here now. Gonna lurk and see if what I learnt can help anyone. There is no RUU for my version btw. Lucky I had that recovery lying around.:victory:
Thanks for all the help guys
I'm on a Sprint HTC M8 H/K
Just got this phone yesterday and decided to root right away, yet it's stuck at the HTC white screen after I unlocked the bootloader.
I can flash and enter custom recoveries fine, but can never get past the HTC white screen when trying to boot into system.
I'm trying to use RUU as my 'final" resort, but I can't seem to get it to work… I'm on a Mac.
I saw this thread with the stock RUU listings, though I'm not entirely certain on which one to use nor the exact steps to do so without a PC.
I also saw this thread with the stock nandroid backups…though there doesn't seem to be one that exists for my version and CID.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried to flash a ROM to your phone? If so, which one? What recovery do you have installed?
I've flashed ViperOne (ViperOneM8_3.2.1.zip) as my current ROM.
My recovery right now is TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.7.0.2-m8_whl.img).
I realized ViperOne has a long first time boot, but I had it sit for ~15 minutes and nothing— stays at the white screen.
I've also tried flashing PhilZ Touch (philz_touch_6.26.6-m8spr.img) and the recovery worked fine.
I want to flash stock ROM, but I'm unsure as to which one to actually try.
My main goal is simply to get this thing past HTC white screen… I'm open to any ROM, recovery, etc. if it solves the problem.

Try a stock rooted rom first or something close to stock and see if that gets you passed the splash screen
Can you point me in the right direction to a stock rooted rom?
This is where I got confused with the different RUU variations since I have H/K M8.

Based on your current firmware version you need to use the ROM in the link below. Newer ROM's won't work properly. Once you update your firmware you can use a newer ROM.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358547356
I have tried the latest rom for htc that was recommended from xda. was told to unlock bootloader push rom to device. then relock device the open twrp and install rom but this will not work because the bootloader is locked.
I am running out of ideas. I have spent nearly 5 days, day and night to revive my m7. followed every tutorial and all instructions thoroughly only to come to the same point. rom not installed.

Please just post in one thread only! Remove the IMEI information from getvar information.
There appears to be a RUU for your device here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
See 7.19.980.5
However your current version main is 7.21.980.35 so I'm not sure it will flash since the device has a newer version already installed. Scroll to the bottom of the page and read the instructions for "How to downgrade with S-ON" and change the current version main to 7.19.980.5 then flash the RUU.
Hope this works for you

@mb_guy This is real mess now lol, he posted at 3 different places, one member telling him to unlock and flash a custom rom (which is ok), another member telling him to flash the wrong RUU without even looking at his getvar and us now telling him to do something different here. Hope he now understand why he shouldn't create 2 threads for the same issues and post in a 3rd one... : Contradictory advice and confusion :crying:
A BIG thank you
I would like to thank the team and their members for helping me Restore my HTC back to normal. It was a very frustrating and time consuming process for a novice phone hacker. but managed to get everything back to normal from this last thread response, and managed to unlock, root and s-off as well, which was the process i was trying to achieve in thew first place. I now have backed up my phone system and kept a copy of the working ROM.
I am sorry for any issues that I may have caused by creating a new forum thread, I didn't realise this was bad online etiquette. It was purely because I was not getting the right responses from the existing threads, and mostly because I am not that familiar with how forums work.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Shane.

Yes but root might be a problem. Lot of ppl ended with softbricked phone after installing a Lollipop ota update over a rooted stock rom. Backup your files first, then try to update. If that doesn't work you can always re-flash the RUU and take all ota updates before rooting.
lemme explain: today I was going to format my phone (HTC one M7 ), I don't know what I did, but now my phone stay in the "HTC powered by android screen, looking around I got here, and trying as much as possible I find out in the recovery shows me a message about "no OS installed are you sure you want to reboot"?, and looks like my HTC now is a pendrive, it doesn't have a OS
I'm asking for help because I don't know how this world works, I'm begging you people, I didn't even know my phone was rooted, I really don't know' bout this things, pls help, ?where do I start? I don't wanna loss my cellphone.
any help you can provide it'll be apreciated as much as you wish, I'm ready to cooperate in any info you need.
