ok, so I tried as you said, and find my RUU, when I try to install it
but then this happens
"error :155" i can't install it because I don't have the right ROM, even when it shows me both numbers match (sorry I can't upload, pictures, the forum doesn't let me If I have posted at least 10 times)
thank you for taking your time and help me:fingers-crossed:

It's a custom rom and no it's not necessary unless you want a custom rom.

[Q] Stuck at boot screen after update - factory reset doesn’t work

Hi,
yesterday I tried to update my phone and it got stuck on the triangle with a red exclamation point symbol. After I while I tried to force the reboot and it just started to endlessly reboot…
I read some stuff over this forum, but all involved an attempt to root the phone, or to install a custom rom, which is not my case. I also tried to factory reset the phone with the power + volume down menu, but nothing to do, it still happen… Impossible to get my phone to work.
Should I try to root the phone or something ? Or is it better to just ask htc/give it back to the store ?
Thanks, have a nice day.
SilverDuck
How did you update?
What exactly did you do?
Mike
Here’s exactly what I did*:
-Notification for update, I say ok
-It restart, I got the dark screen with the phone with the update symbol
-It turns red, I wait a long time
-I long press the power button, and it won’t start anymore
Later I tried to factory reset…
Should I try to flash a stock rom ?

hoping you're on windows 7,
force reboot youre phone,
so before it starts pull vol - plus power button to get into bootloader, now scroll using volume buttons and select fastboot using power
now plug it to the pc
wait and hope to drivers to install
in the meantime download the RUU that matches with your country (take it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860)
now execute as administrator the ruu (is an .exe)
wait untill it finishes and now start using phone again

new thread just opened! you can find RUU's here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428276
aww sh**.. sorry, have just seen you're s-on with hboot 1.54... :/ you can't downgrade hboot with s-on (and due to 1.54 you can't get s-off). so you're stuck with this until we get a RUU from 1.54 (the ones that are available are 1.44)..
sorry for you
Okay, thanks a lot guys !
I guess I'll just wait for a while to see if someone releases it…
Also, to be sure, what should I pay attention to ? The hboot version and the baseband ?

If you want help read some threads of others asking for help.
We need your phone carrier / PC OS version / last android update installed / info from the bootloader and fastboot getvar all (minus your Serial no. and IMEI).

Follow the steps in the guide
Do it yourself rather then the RUU doing it...same outcome other then you will have a stock rooted rom rather then a factory rom.

I was afraid you'd say that. Here's my other problem. I can only get ADB to work using Philz touch recovery. And when i try to push the Zip file or anything like that i get some kind of error which doesnt let it complete. I'm sure you've been through this with other people hundreds of times so forgive me. I get a "failed to write data protocol <no status>"

My wife got some kind of corrupt file or virus on her phone and I ended up having to wipe EVERYTHING, OS, SDCARD, only thing on phone was bootloader and old version of TWRP, heres how I fixed it and it worked great.... Download the latest TWRP and flash it via fastboot, make sure you have the latest SDK tools on your computer, sideload the rom of your choice, there are instructions on the TWRP website, you should be good to go....

Messed Up My Phone

Hi, so today I was recommended by a friend to root my phone so I googled it found a youtube video and followed it, unfortunately I ended up installing an old version of superSU and it all went wrong after that. To be honest my experience has felt like hell and my main priority is to restore my phone to its original state. I searched for RUU's but cannot find one for my phone and even then if someone could comment on how to RUU the phone.
Ill post my getvar here:

My thoughts exactly. That's why I asked what issues is he having

Softbrick HTC One M8 - Tried a lot to no avail

I hope I'm doing this right. Please feel free to let me know if I am using this forum incorrectly.
Before you ask, I've done a ton of Googling as well as searching this site specifically, and couldn't find the right answer. By all means if I'm missing something please point me to it, but I have done the research.
In an attempt to update my firmware, I tried to install the stock recovery. I tried the supposed "stock" recovery from several different sources, as well as several versions of TWRP. Sometimes it'll get stuck at "Entering Recovery..." and will stay there until the battery dies (built-in battery), sometimes it'll just immediately jump back to fastboot. In any case, ever since the first attempt I have been unable to get back to recovery. To make matters worse, I apparently wiped my system at some point. Normally this wouldn't be an issue, as I'd simply load back into recovery and factory reset, but since I don't have that option at the moment, my phone is bricked.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong; I've specifically searched for my specific model and my carrier and any other details that could set my phone apart from another to ensure I'm getting the right files, but nothing has worked for me.

Hi,
I moved your thread to the correct section.
First thing I see that's strange is you say you have the HK version but your info above indicates it's the non HK version. (cidnum: SPCS_001)
Sounds to me like you tried to flash the wrong firmware or twrp and it messed up your partitions.
Your best bet would be to run the latest RUU
Remember you need to re-lock your bootloader before running the RUU.
Latest TWRP can be found HERE

Thinking back, I feel like I opted to NOT get the HK edition. I believe the confusion came from a custom ROM I installed almost as soon as I made the purchase that had the options for HK, so ever since I can remember, I've seen it in my menus.

I have tried the latest rom for htc that was recommended from xda. was told to unlock bootloader push rom to device. then relock device the open twrp and install rom but this will not work because the bootloader is locked.
I am running out of ideas. I have spent nearly 5 days, day and night to revive my m7. followed every tutorial and all instructions thoroughly only to come to the same point. rom not installed.

I have tried the latest rom for htc that was recommended from xda. was told to unlock bootloader push rom to device. then relock device the open twrp and install rom but this will not work because the bootloader is locked.
I am running out of ideas. I have spent nearly 5 days, day and night to revive my m7. followed every tutorial and all instructions thoroughly only to come to the same point. rom not installed.
here is the current status

Please just post in one thread only! Remove the IMEI information from getvar information.
There appears to be a RUU for your device here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
See 7.19.980.5
However your current version main is 7.21.980.35 so I'm not sure it will flash since the device has a newer version already installed. Scroll to the bottom of the page and read the instructions for "How to downgrade with S-ON" and change the current version main to 7.19.980.5 then flash the RUU.
Hope this works for you

^^+1, this should get the phone back to stock without any problem.
@mb_guy This is real mess now lol, he posted at 3 different places, one member telling him to unlock and flash a custom rom (which is ok), another member telling him to flash the wrong RUU without even looking at his getvar and us now telling him to do something different here. Hope he now understand why he shouldn't create 2 threads for the same issues and post in a 3rd one... : Contradictory advice and confusion :crying:
A BIG thank you
I would like to thank the team and their members for helping me Restore my HTC back to normal. It was a very frustrating and time consuming process for a novice phone hacker. but managed to get everything back to normal from this last thread response, and managed to unlock, root and s-off as well, which was the process i was trying to achieve in thew first place. I now have backed up my phone system and kept a copy of the working ROM.
I am sorry for any issues that I may have caused by creating a new forum thread, I didn't realise this was bad online etiquette. It was purely because I was not getting the right responses from the existing threads, and mostly because I am not that familiar with how forums work.
Thanks again and keep up the good work.
Shane.

No problem mate, in the future just remember you can edit your thread title and all your posts if you don't get the right answer or if you have more info to add. You can also bump your thread once a day if you don't get any answer. :good:

Just wondering if this ruu that i have installed in this post will accept software updates? I am rooted and s-off. will the update affect the current status?

Yes but root might be a problem. Lot of ppl ended with softbricked phone after installing a Lollipop ota update over a rooted stock rom. Backup your files first, then try to update. If that doesn't work you can always re-flash the RUU and take all ota updates before rooting.
