Q&A for CyanogenMod 12.1 - Lollipop - Unofficial
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for CyanogenMod 12.1 - Lollipop - Unofficial. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!

fixed for the interim.
thx.
Homescreen
In the ASUS version 4.4 the homescreen uses the complete width of the screen (landscape).
In the previous version of this rom it didn't.
Does this version use the complete width for showing icons and widgets?
Just like the attached screenshot.

That is entirely dependent on your launcher. Install Nova or Apex Launcher and you can control this yourself.

I'm using the Nova laucher now.
It works great. Almost everything is customizable.
I'm using this ROM now for a week and it runs fantastic.
No real problems found yet. The only one is a bluetooth device (headphone). But after unchecking
the phoneaudio it works well.
(Micro) lags during swipe
gismo2004 said:
the funny thing is, if im swiping "fast" i have no lags and also no cpu_up/down in kmesg. this brings up the idea(!!!), that it is not related to the blobs but to the governor. In general i can say, that once i see some "lags" (also when scrolling in the browser, or other app stuff) i get this cpuxxx messages. if it is running smooth, which is mostly the case, i don't get any kmesg entry's, except some battery-stats.

I see the same behaviour as gismo2004. The latest VSYNC related change of 8/8 didn't help anything. I think it only added some general latency but that might be only a feeling.
Might be worth noting that the micro lags during a swipe disappear almost completely when I disable "Hardware overlays" in the developer options. I have little knowledge of the architecture but maybe the disabled hardware overlays prevent the CPU from entering a low power mode that it takes some milliseconds to wake up from.
09/02 is up. Please test.
Hi all. How do things look on 09/02, so far?
I tested 09/02 and did not see any difference swiping the main screen. It still hangs frequently. The same is true for 09/03 (boot.img). Sometimes it looks like it's gone but then reappears 3 swipes later ...
Don't you see the effect on your device, pershoot? I could try to do a video.

I can't reproduce it. Seems fine here. Haven't heard of anyone else with this either (just you and one other person with some perceived input text lag).
That test is not for this purpose and only for that one user with the flicker issue.
09/14 is up.
Just installed and so far looks very good! I too noticed quite a bit of lag on prior builds but so far haven't seen it this time. I did another full wipe.
9/20 is up.

Since I'm new here (but reading xda for a while), I cannot post in the dev section, but I'm really like eaglesblood and want to help those guys.
Okay, here's the bug:
turning phone 90°, switching to landscape mode.
locking orientation
pressing power button, locking phone
pressing again, seeing lockscreen (attachment)
moving finger to the top (unlock icon)
it unlocks the phone, and launches the messaging app
It isn't a critical bug, but sometimes it annoys me.
and last: I'm not sure eaglesblood team would notice this post so anyone please repost it to their thread
I copied it into the thread at the dev section:

ok, this is my bugtracker thread now >:3
I found another two defects in EaglesBlood rom:
First:
Something strange is going on in Settings app — «Launcher» and «Pulse» menu items are shifted a few pixels to the right (look first attachment)

And again, i'm asking for reposting this message to EaglesBlood thread.

First: Hmm I see, odd. I'll look in source and see whats up. Thanks.
Second: Thanks I'll take a look, seems to be p990-specific since its not doing that on p999. You aren't using any screen resizing app or mod'ing the build.prop right? (if you were to reflash and NOT install anything nor use any TiBackup or similar, its like that stock?) Email Us response please.

Hi,
INTRO
I run MIUI on my phone and have since i discovered it. I am really fond of the EOL GB MIUI builds. I think the interface is great. Clean and smooth.
Searching around the web I came across [ROM][ICS] MIUI for Galaxy Tab 10.1 - P75xx - 20120825, I had previously seen a post on [GUIDE] How to port MIUI v4 to your Device
I really like the idea of using Button Savior or similar, combined with the miui style notification toggles.
Mockups from my phone;

I have already tried CM7/9/10 on my Defy, along with other roms, and already had a go at CM10 on my GN10. Well, that gives me the thought, I might try to build up a rom for GN10
ATTEMPT
So I grabed the unofficial CM10 from here on xda, maguro MIUI-2.8.31 (Galaxy Nexus GSM JB) from miuiandroid.com and the build script mentioned above.
After reading the build script for the ICS MIUI for the GT10 and the GUIDE (both above) I didnt hold high hopes, but I had a go.
The script, of course fails, but builds a rom that gets to the bootspash, and I had a manual go at building my mashing the two together and never got past the samsung boot logo.
I ran logcat over adb while booting and it gets stuck due to something to do with the audio and probably many other reasons.
REASONS
The reason why I think this is a good Idea;
I am not keen on the Android tablet style notfication/nav bar, esp since there is no nice way to auto hide it. The MIUI style phone notification bar can be exposed even when there is a full screen app by swiping down from the top.
I really like the no apps drawer way that mihome works. New apps appear right there, and can be uninstalled in the same way shortcuts are removed in most other launchers, by dragging to the top. The MIUI implementation seems much nicer than on iphone. ( I understand that MiHome does not do landscape and even if this mashup workes on our GN10 devices I will still prob use nova launcher to get rotating home). I am not saying MiHome is perfect by any means. It has no way of making customized app shortcuts without 3rd party app and then they seem to be pretty flakey at actually displaying the shortcut on the launcher. For making url shortcuts ShortcutLink works very well.
The toggles in MIUI are great, and when there is more than fit on the screen they can be swiped left and right to reveal more. The MIUI GB notfications area is super clean, With the ES mod (swipe away like ICS/JB) why do we need to be told a notification is ongoing, if you can't swipe it away it is ongoing. Also the MIUI toggles jump directly to the settings when long pressed and toggle when clicked, this is top functionality.
Now, I am not specifically wanting actual miui, but I know of no other way to get something so similar and get the same functionality.
PROBLEM
The problem I have is my lack of abiltiy/knowlege in programing. I did sucessfully install the Android envoironment and eclipse on both my linux (crunchban/debiantesting x64) box at the office and my Win7x64 box at home, but as far as actually knowing what I am doing, I could barely manage to complete some of the basic howto's that are basically copy/paste due to the ide changing slightly from the tutorials. :crying:
I am quite proficient at linux and writing bash scripts etc, have a bit of php/database understanding etc, but it is not enough.
I also understand that CM10 is pretty bleeding edge on our devices and doesnt really provide a stable base yet, but it is pretty good and I am sure will get enough love to become rock solid/everything working in the not too distant future due to the great work by the dev's
SOLUTION
Due to my lack of programing skills the only way I think that this ROM/project/idea can move forward is for a dev to be fond of the idea, and/or enough people to like the idea that a deve thinks it is worthwile.
I can only sweeten such an idea with assistance in providing multi GB of webspace (with php/mysql/pgsql/tomcat/whatever), multi TB of download data, email services. I can provide only moderate ammounds of donated funds. I am sure that I can manage doco and support assistance.
END
Well, I am not sure anyone would like my idea, I am very open to comments and thoughts in the matter. Please refrain from flame wars on particular platforms or rom styles. It is more taking the best ideas from all places and implementing them into something great.
Thanks for reading.
RESERVED, in case some action actually happens
very glad to see some dev attempts. I dont know much about your chanses to pull this of. But i wish you the best of luck. Welcome
Ok, after searching around and trying this out I have not really made any progress. I think one way of getting a more phone style UI on my GNote10 is to have a go at actually compiling
PARANOID android, as there is some nice instructions over at this thread, and progress is happining on the GTab10.1, so there is already work on a comparable screen to leverage off of.
At lease this will get me into setting up a decent environment and see how it goes, my pc is plenty fast enough, just need to chuck another drive in and ubuntu as per the guide, which is no trouble.
Well, anyways, thanks for looking.
There is a PA release for the Note 10.1. But you have probably already seen that.

I'm using this CM10.1 version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2104442
It works great, fast, not buggy, but it's missing a lot of features that I enjoy from custom made roms, for example, there are no "Development" sections in the settings, which allow setting the CPU speed / governor etc, there is also a lot of other various tweaks that I can't think of right now that just don't exist, where do these things come from? I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to add them myself, I just don't really know where they all come from, like the "Spare Parts" / "Dev Tools" icons in a lot of roms that have various extra customization options.
Also, one thing that bugs me is whenever I plug the USB cable in to charge, the USB connection window pops up, any idea how I would go about changing that so it *doesn't* do that? I have an app that lets me access and edit the root files so if there's something in there I can change to modify that, that would be great too.
Apologies if this is a lot to ask but once I get started I think I can handle the rest on my own I just need to be pointed in the right directions for some things.

Wow thanks.. had no idea. This opened up a lot of options. Like for example killing applications via holding back button, I was wondering how to add that, but it's in the developer options.
One last thing I would like to know how to change, when my phone boots, about 2 seconds after the lock screen appears, the screen turns off, how can I change it to wait longer on the lock screen before turning off? Is there a file somewhere I can edit the timeout delay?
I was wondering if anyone knew how to get haptic feedback on the menu and back buttons?
AW: [Q] How to add additional options to CM10.1?
I think that you can not enable haptic feedback.
kill apps

Go to developers settings and in the bottom there is an option for this..
How about the option to display this if there are no notifications? So you don't have to have the extra button press in the top right corner to show it all. Makes sense to me...

Hi, this ROM is stable or in beta version?
good news.
Is there a known bug or problem?
Thanks for sharing.
It seems pretty stable, not really sure of any bugs
A few things:
1. Everything in this rom seems really small. Like the dpi is off or something (its not, as its set correctly to 170dpi as far as I can tell).
2. Long press on the home button isn't bringing up the recent apps like it should.
3. Video recording in the camera app isn't working
On t210.
Hi I am curious to know that will it work on an t210 I have never flashed custom ROM on this device. Thanks.
More bugs:
Home button doesn't work at all
When turning the screen off the display turns sideways quickly before turning off
Notification bar only swipes down once, cannot access any quick actions.

Any chance of porting this ROM to the SM-T210(R)? I have a T210R that I would love a more modern ROM to run. Apps are falling out of support for anything below Android 5.0. I'll use my device as a guinea pig if you decide to pursue it. I would think it would be a matter mostly of rewriting the install script, but I do not know.
I've noticed that the battery drained "faster" than usual use. By "faster", the battery percentage shows that it drops, at an unrealistic rate of 5% every 2 minutes till 10% in less than an hour.
Turning off the tablet and powering it on 10 minutes later, I get 67% battery indicated, and the "draining" starts again. I believe there's some bug with how the battery is being read by the ROM, anyone experienced the same? I've tried to do battery calibration using root apps to no avail. There's definitely enough juice in the tank whenever it reports it has low battery.
Also while using this ROM with light tasks like scrolling through google feed or chrome browsing, the tablet's top left heats up.
SM-T215 is my model, managed to flash T217 based ROM.
suggestions
what should i use to flash ROM on galaxy tab 3 8". I use ODIN but wondering if there is anything else suggested.
Please bear with me if this seems like the dumbest post in the world.
Ok, so right up until a few weeks ago, i loved the split screen feature on my phone. It was as easy as hitting the square button on the bottom, choosing split screen on one app, app folds itself up creating a space below, and then selecting another app to share the screen with. Easy peezee. Could have a video playing in VLC while perusing rss feeds in Newsfold, either on top of one another in portrait mode or side by side in landscape etc. Even my long dead grandmama could do this.
Fast forward to one day last month, i download some usual pixel update prompted by phone, only to discover my oft used split screen is now no more, but now "split top". It doesn't split the screen like it used to do, and i can't figure out how this split top thing is supposed to work. Plus it always says "Pixel Launcher keeps stopping" after several attempts to use the split top function, which is indicating that Pixel Launcher has crashed. But i din't use Pixel Launcher or have it as my default, i've always used Nova Launcher.
Basically i was doing just fine until whatever this update (which i am assuming is 12L) that has ruined split screen for me.
Is there a way to go back to the old split screen way? Or, how the heck do you split screen with this "split top"? I searched around the web and can't seem to find a solution.
I'm really not enjoying my device or being as productive as i used to be.
Hello @LordLugard I just registered to reply here.
After wasting so much time trying to fix this bug on my end, and several factory resets where it didn't fail at the beginning but then it eventually did, I found the solution on another post of a different forum:
-Turn ON system animations.
That's it. That's how it got solved. If you turn them off, the new split screen doesn't work at all. I'm afraid this must be an Android 12.1 bug because I had the exact same bug in a Poco F2 Pro with Lineage 19.1 and Trebuchet as launcher, so it's not phone model specific, not ROM specific, and not even launcher specific.
I hope this helps someone

Thanks for the reply.
Where would you "Turn ON system animations"?
I have it in:
"Settings/Accessibility/Text And Display/Remove Animations"
I had this switch on (meaning no animations), what caused split screen to crash. Turning it off solved it.
Hmmm, doesn't work for me. Mine was already in the "OFF" position.
What the heck was ever wrong with the old simple way? It just worked.

Bummer, sorry that it didn't help. It just did for me.
I don't think so, but maybe you activated Developer options, and then changed the value of the animations scales?
Just to discard animation related settings.
I'm afraid I'm of no help beyond that
Well, what do you know...a bit of success.
Since time immemorial, i've always turned off animations in Developer Options to 0, as i do not care for all the fluffy visuals.
So on a whim i decided to tinker and set it to the lowest value, 0.5x, and that seems to work now. But the implementation is so much different than the old way, will take some getting used to. The old method was so much better.
Thanks for the input.
I'm glad it helped at the end!
I fully agree on everything, I don't want animations either, but we're stuck with them if we want split screen as long as they keep this bug...
Also not a fan of this new and worse split screen method. You press Home and both apps are gone.

1,000% this. I'll be returning my brand-new Pixel 6 and returning to my old phone which will never even be eligible for A12
