did you did a factory reset after install?
Mine is draining so fast. Even when turned off. I didn't do a factory reset after install because i dont want to lose any data. My maximum charge is 11% after 3 hours. I dont even know if i can flash anything because it's lowbat.
for me is ok. the battery life is good, and i got overheathing only when i did a first start after i installed it. try to install kernel aduitor and see if all governors are on "ondemand", and if all freqs are ok.
reinstalled and did everything as it should be but stll gets hot and quickly drains out battery sometimes not always
without using battery drains to 50% in few hours
Possible Solution to Over heating after lollipop install
I had the same issue of Xperia Z1 Compact over heating after lollipop install. I backed up all my data using Sony Companion and reset my phone to factory. After that my phone is working like a champ. No more over heating and battery life last over a day and half. Hope this help.
guys,
I had the same issue and im thinking to downgrade to kitkat for real
I have tried it.. No use. It will heat up in kitkat too. Really annoying.

How old is your device? Looks like the battery is having issues. Or maybe the motherboard is supplying over current to the processor.
Its about 2 yrs old. But the heating started just after lollipop update. Before it was ok, no problem was there.
having the same issue since update to lollipop. really annoying thing. battery drained in an half hour down to 89%. that just cant be normal.. phone is not rooted or anything.
Hi,
For those who are rooted and with a custom kernel, I have faced the same problem recently and after playing a bit with CPU configuration on "Pimp My Z1" app it seemed to work again.
First thing I did was reboot the device, that way I was sure that no app I've opened was draining my battery.
Second I opened the "Pimp My Z1" app and changed the configuration of CPU to:
Maximum: 1958MHz
Minimum: 300MHz
Governor: lionheart

Also set the max clock of GPU to 320MHz.
As for the power management config, I've set this way:

Today I'm with 82% battery but with 59 minutes of screen on time (~70% brightness) and some more of music playing. Also using Stamina Mode. Heats a bit, but doesn't show any draining symptom.
If you still face overheating problems, I suggest downloading the Greenify app and hibernating many apps. That worked for me on S4 when it was with a similar problem.

Worked for me
I have the LG Leon for MPCS w/ 5.0.2 root-TWRP. I began experiencing this after flashing a sound engine mod. I also noticed my charging port pin was bent slightly. Another possibility was changing CPU gov-I/O-min. freq.
I flashed mod remove zip, then restored from Nandroid prior to, and fixed pin. Still had it.
BUT: I kept my phone on top of my AC unit vent for roughly 13 hours while it was on & plugged in, set brightness to night mode, 15 sec time out, and disabled daydream.
PROBLEM GONE.
Also set CPU back to reg. settings.
CPU has been steady 28-30 deg. C all day.
Hope this helps.

Hi guys, long time since I've been on here.
I have a S4 i9500, and I was having mega drainage issues. I installed Novalaunch, and disabled the samsung touchwiz crap - battery usage is SOO much better already. I have had lollipop for a few months now, and I did factory reset it, twice, and install all the apps manually via google play. It got so bad, that i HAD to run my phone with power save on ALL THE TIME, and even then, it would be pretty hungry. the other day, I ran it on full power(1.6ghz) and it chewed 40% in around 1 hour. All I was doing was had Pandora music on.
I have a tool called 'Cool Tools', and I monitored the IO activity bfore, and it show pretty high utilization all the time, even with the screen off. With Novalauncher, its hitting rock bottom(low), even while using it..
Its soo good now, to give you an idea - I charged my phone last night(around 9pm), and restarted it and unplugged the charger. I ran it on full power(power save OFF), over night, with data on, and it only chewed 15%. MASSIVE difference. I'm at 60% now, and I've been running Pandora for at least 3 hours now, and using some other apps as well. Its been 14 hours or so already.

Even I faced fast battery drain with Touchwiz launcher.
Now running custom ROM and seeing that CPU usage is lesser and battery stays longer.
However, nothing can beat Kitkat's battery usage. Lollipop, according to me, is a battery killer wrapped in material design for disguise.
Xperia z1 battery drain issue or problem
I FOUND THE MAIN CULPRIT FOR BATTETY DRAIN AFTER 5.1.1 LOLLIPOP UPDATE. Its the overheat control app. As you all may know that after first update from jellybean 4.2 to kitkat 4.4, the phone tends to get overheated while multitasking. Thus overheat control app eats up the battery and drain it when the phone starts getting hot.
I REQUEST ALL THE DEVELOPERS TO CHECK IT AND PROVE IF I M WRONG.
I m sure that Google will find the answer to the battery drain issue fix in overheat control app.

It charges very slow.. I used to charge using my laptop USB.. I kept around 2 hours and charge increased only around 20%.. It was fast in Kitkat.
Oh. Im glad im not the only one facing this. Any solution or we may have to wait for a bugfix?

Hey guys,
I think I might have a problem here, I did OTA update over 10.5.1.A.0.283, got 10.6.A.0.454. Everything seems to be working fine, the system is quite smooth, yet battery life is worse than it was!
Cell standby and the OS seem to be consuming way to much battery, my reception isn't perfect, yet I checked in Cell standby and signal loss is at 0%.
I do have STAMINA on, yet according to CPU Spy the phone never goes into Deep Sleep. Isn't that suspicious?
You'll find a few screenshots attached to this post to give you an idea what I'm talking about. I'll try to flash the full rom today and see if it helps, while I'm typing this message FlashTool is creating an FTF file so that I can flash it later. I'll keep you posted.

From my point of view, it totally depends whether you did an OTA update or flash the new ROM. In my case, I have the Deep Sleep state active for a lot of time, and here's the screenshot:
Did you make a factory reset before/after flashing? Most time this helps.
Think the scan location when wifi is off option (in wifi setting) has effect on the google play service.
Also I am testing what exactly that stamina clock option within stamnia setting does. It seems it affects the battery in a not necessarily good way.
This is annoying. Sony includes all these features that are basically rubbish...

Hi,
I installed lollipop onto my ZR via the PC Companion a week ago, and I used a clean install (repair). My battery life is very bad compared to kitkat. I don't use my phone often, mostly it is in standby mode with mobile data enabled and stamina mode enabled (I added a few applications to stamina mode white list: gmail, facebook messanger, etc.). With kit-kat I had to charge my phone every 3 day, but now I have to charge it every day!!! this is 3 times worse than kitkat. If I check under power management - battery usage, I see a few apps have several hours of 'mobile radio active' (mostly gmail, chrome).
I have searched for this on internet, it looks like it is an lollipop related issue and not a sony related issue. Lollipop has this issue since 6 months now , and they didn't do anything to fix this (there are tons of forums posts about this on reddit, and on other places). I have the feeling Android is getting worse in every new version, and Google hire the most ****tiest developers of all time. They don't even answer to the thousands of user complaints of this issue. I will never touch an android phone in the future.

Just got my zr update to LP 2 day ago. For now seem like the battery life worse. Need to factory reset after this hopefully that help .

Hello everyone
I recently bought a used Xperia Z1 (C6903), which came with Lollipop 5.0.2 installed (Build .270). It has a defective screen, which is going to be replaced shortly. I mostly use it with a mouse via USB. Other than that, it is perfectly fine.
On Thursday, I inserted my SIM card on the device and installed the latest build available for this device, which is 14.6.A.1.216 (Lollipop 5.1.1) via Flashtool, making sure I did a factory reset. On Friday, I rooted it using KingRoot (promptly replacing it with SuperSU) and, as I did my research first, installed Wakelock Detector to compare the battery between each Android version. On 5.0.2 battery was pretty good, maybe because the phone didn't have the SIM card inserted, but still used WiFi and had a lot of apps which were left by the previous owner (Such as Facebook and FB Messenger, which both are battery hoggers). Even then, the phone had tremendously good battery, managing to reach 3 days on a full charge (I observed that before buying it). The only problem was that the phone overheated a bit.
Now that I have installed 5.1.1, things got worse. The only good things are that the overheating problem is gone and the performance seems a bit better. However I saw that for many, the battery was way better on 5.1.1 than on 5.0.2. This isn't the case for me. The battery drops approximately 1% each 30 minutes, with the screen off. I don't have mobile data on, as I always use WiFi, so the radio active bug doesn't affect me (right?). I have disabled most, if not all useless apps or things that would keep using the phone's resources. I disabled them, not uninstalled them because the phone has a problem with root permissions, saying that system is not mounted as R/W but still giving apps root access and they can disabled apps just fine. Currently I have none of my apps installed with the exception of Wakelock Detector, thanks to the battery drain and the defective screen which prevent me from doing much. STAMINA mode is on, but I don't notice it working too well, as it doesn't turn WiFi off when the screen is off, even though that option is turned on. I cannot deliver an exact screen on time as don't use the phone that much, but it is average 3-4 hours.
Wakelock Detector tells me that the phone has been awake by 12%, even though there aren't any wakelocks nor apps that would take batery. I would have tried with BetterBatteryStats but it is a bit confusing to use for me. Most people here on this phone's XDA forum complain about the battery in Lollipop, but Kitkat has provided them very good battery life.
Is there any way to fix this? I will provide anything that is asked, such as screenshots of Wakelock Detector, etc.
Should I downgrade to 4.4.4? (Build .157 or whichever you recommend) or perhaps install a custom rom based on 4.4.4, like iHackers? I would test them myself, as it is the best way of telling the difference, but I have a very bad connection and downloading files over 1GB+ takes 5 or 6 hours, only if it doesn't disconnect automatically. The most important things for me are the performance of the phone and the battery life.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for my bad english.

Right. I will use it, thanks for the tip. As you have to downgrade to KitKat in order to install custom recoveries and the like, I already did so. And I discovered something new, which wasn't on Lollipop. KitKat's battery stats show that 39% of the phone's battery is used up by the screen, even though I barely use it and it is on the lowest brightness possible. Other than that, another culprit is the mobile signal, which shows a high usage of battery.
EDIT: I have now installed the rom and indeed, the battery problems seem to be gone. Battery isn't dropping as it did, and Wakelock Detector says that the phone is now 1-2% awake
At 1 point, 5.0.2 had a lot of battery problems and performance issues
Are u facing any on MX now ?

So far, battery has been perfect the phone easily lasts 1 day and still has 40% left. I guess that could be better, but I am satisfied with it
One thing I have noticed is that even though the ROM has much bettery battery management than the stock rom, it feels somehow slower. In developer options, the "Force GPU rendering for 2D" option is enabled. I disabled it and weirdly, the phone seems to be faster and smoother, like it was before. The opposite of this should be happening, as I've read that it instead makes the phone smoother than having it ticked off

There's no such issue with this update.
I'm sorry to say this, but things are now where they were before I flashed MX Rom
Three days ago the battery started draining like before, with high usage of the process "Android System", approximately 30%. The screen also has high usage, but really shouldn't as screen on time is barely one hour. I also learned how to properly use BetterBatteryStats, and it reports that the device has 100% no or unknown signal. The phone also is doing weird beep sounds around the camera area. I've factory reset the device, but it didn't do anything. In fact, it is worse now. Battery drain is approximately 3% an hour. And that is with WiFi, Mobile Data and almost everything else off. I also don't have any apps installed. The same happens with Android Kitkat. A lot of apps are also disabled.

Hi,
I would not worry to much if your device is 30+ it's normal. Now if its touching eg
50.. 60 + C start worrying.
My phone is at moment 31.2 C
Just remember...
Temperature, also depends on "other" factors also.
eg.. If you have an phone case /cover,
Temperature of your surroundings can play
a role.. etc
What workload it's doing. fo long period of time.. eg games, movies, music etc
But 30 C plus, is normal.
I sometimes let my device run over 40 plus.
Good luck
Is this something related to marshmallow??
Only when wifi connected then temp gOes up otherwise its normal below 30

Hello.
I'm having trouble with the newly replaced battery on my rooted Xperia Z1 (with android 5.1.1).
2 months ago i replaced the battery because the old one overheated. The new battery has been fine untill a few days ago when it told me all day that it had 50% left. I found that weird so I didn't charge it to let it run out of battery so I could charge it to 100% and recalibrate it.
After the phone suddenly blacked out the battery wouldn't charge any more, so I took it out and messured it's voltage to be around 2.5. So I jumpstarted the battery back to 3.5 V and was able to make it charge again. Even though the battery functions like "normal", it still says 50% all the time with few exceptions which does look to be the correct battery level. The power management app disappears from settings whenever the battery shows 50% and reappears when it shows the correct level.
The battery indicator shows the correct percentage when charging, but not otherwise.
My theory is that there is something wrong with the software regarding the battery management and that it let the battery use too much of it's voltage. I've seen people with similar problems (50% battery indicator and disappearing power management), but the only solution there was to replace the battery. It doesn't seem that likely because of the software being buggy and the battery is only 2 months old.
Here's some screenshots of the weird behavior:
imgur.com/SXSMdzi
imgur.com/OcYKHjA
(Couldn't include image because I am a new user)
As I were writing this, it began discharging while hooked up to a charger. Seems to be a bit unstable.
Would appreciate all and any help
Hello!
I also got similar issues. I've read and try anything to find what happened with my Z1.
First, in my experience, some says (on internet) it's Android problem called Sudden Battery Drain Syndrome. I've tried apps like repair battery etc. and calibrator to fix it. Still the same the battery drain badly.
Second, so I am continuing my investigation on internet. I read from xperia care etc and I found that android Lolipop (5.1.1) terribly sucks for Xperia Z1. Many Z1 users confirmed this. Not just the battery problem, there are bugs also, like touchscreen, screen flickering etc.
Third, after knowing this and read like 2 hours to find the solution, I found in this forum that it's better to downgrading the android version back to KitKat or JellyBean. So I installed JellyBean firmware. Just now finished. I hope it'll be good again. I'll inform you.
NB: Factory reset also won't work
Hello, nice to get some response on this thread.

I tried battery repairs, calibrators and so on. Did not do anything for me. After reading up on Sudden Battery Drain Syndrome, I'm inclined to say that it doesn't seem all that similar to my problem.

That is interesting to know. I have experienced alot of those problems. I was thinking about upgrading to a custom unofficial Android 7 for xperia z1, hearing this might be the thing that makes me do it. It's always such a hassle to download apps and set up from a new install, so I've put it off for a while.
Some days after starting this thread, I ordered a new battery. The old one started to do the same thing. Seemed like I could jumpstart it again, but I don't see the point in doing that every other day.
The new battery has been working great for almost 3 weeks now. I still have the Lolipop problems you mentioned, but the phone works as it is supposed to. It acts up from time to time, but I suspect that being because I use Greenify and CPU tuner to make the battery last longer. I might be upgrading to Android 7 and if that fails, I might downgrade.
I'm hoping I was unlucky with the last battery because it lasted so short and that the problem was only related to the battery. I will post updates here if the new battery also suffers.
