Installing Android M Preview 2 - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know of a relatively quick, none convoluted way to install Android M Preview 2 on the Nexus 6? I would really love a step by step way to do it, cause all the different videos im seeing on youtube just dont pan out. I have a Mac, so id love a way to do it on there, but... If no one knows of a way ( and has tested it out them selves ) I can get my hands on a PC.

I've been waiting for this forever so I can run it in Multirom, but no one seems to have made one. I've no idea why.

From what I understand Ubuntu Touch is still in the testing phase. Word is that Canonical will launch a stable build by the end of this month. So it mere days/weeks. The preview was beautiful. Personally excited to get my hands on it.
The only drawback I can anticipate will be the initial lack of apps. Which won't even take long to change I'm sure.
Currently on PA:3.15
Thank you to all the devs working on any ROM/app/mod/kernel grinding their finger tips to the bone.

I really don't see that happening at all (failing). Been following it up to this point of the preview being dropped. I realize its early to say but I feel that it was the first OS to do exactly as any company had advertised. Nothing more or less.
When I had my Evo LTE threads were full of support for it. Ubuntu alone has definitely taken off, have it as a dual boot and primary on another.. So personally I believe as long as it stays on the path and future they are creating we can expect something pretty awesome. There was some mention that people felt it was just a launcher in a sense. Idk I felt it was entirely new experience.
Had a chance to test the Infobar as well. Which the two operated very similar. So it gave a full preview.
Being in love with Paranoid and having a gesture based phone I'm still looking forward to it. Worse comes to worse I think it will bring alot to future android development. But all in all I would love to see it succeed and become a major player.
I tried it out today...because i just got my N4 and haven't activated it yet...and well...the keyboard wasn't working...it was pretty as all hell, but i can see how it's a beta...painfully so...

It's not even in beta. It's a developer preview right now. They don't even expect testers to use it just yet. The wider testing phase should be the end of May or early June. That's when 3g and auto bug reporting will be enabled.

It is in "dogfood" stage, meaning that their in-house developers use it on a daily basis. It runs fine, there's just not much in the way of apps (even built-in) for it yet. It can be laggy at times because it is not optimised, but a person could use it daily if you don't need a lot of apps on your phone.

All issues can be found here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/ReleaseNotes#Known_Issues
You could also try it with MultiROM.

Just bought a Nexus 7, worth rooting?

I just purchased a Nexus 7 and was wondering if it's really worth rooting and installing back custom ROM. I mean the tablet is already running the latest version of android, so would a custom ROM with a few extra settings and an overclocked kernel really be worth it?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I'd just root it using the exploit so you still have your warranty. The nexus 7 stock is good and stable. Just need rooting
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Root it now because you might not need to flash custom ROMs at the moment but you might want to in a month or 2 and then you will have a bit hard time backing up your data as unlocking bootloader wipes everything.
Worth rooting or worth instilling a custom ROM? I think rooting is a good idea, but haven't seen a compelling reason to install a custom ROM.

It's a Nexus device. Basically a developer's toy. Of course you should root and unlock this bad boy. You're missing all the fun. Have you seen the loads of roms and kernels for this thing?

If I were you, I'd go crazy and get a replacement. I don't like getting a brand new device and seeing a flaw before I use it.

It's hardly noticeable. I only notice it when I'm watching a video in landscape mode. It's very small as well.

I rooted mine the first day I got it and it's totally worth to root it. Also flash a custom rom while you are still messing with your device.
Yes I rooted and unlocked mine first day,
you can unroot and lock Bl if you need gurantee.
im so lucky to bought a second hand with no problem at all no dead pixel no bat prob etc..
Sent from my Nexus 7
a) yes, root it. might as well before you have a bunch of data built up (since an unlock wipes everything)
b) no, the dead pixel is not normal. get a replacement.

Does one dead pixel result in future dead pixels?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
What about unlocking the bootloader? I'm thinking of rooting mine for basic SU privileges such as blocking ads. I don't plan on running a custom rom as I think stock is just fine.
Mine is rooted and unlocked from the first day i'm buy it.
To me it's more than worth I can't live without ad-blocker, expanded desktop and pie.
And another reason is i'm spoiled by my nexus 4, the nexus 7 stock rom and kernel is not smooth enough for my liking I don't even able to scroll through facebook feed smoothly but with some good custom kernel and rom combined I can.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
I bought it a few days ago and after a hour it was unlocked, rooted and with a custom rom (cm10.1) & custom kernel (M-kernel) and i'm loving it).
My tablet before the N7 was also running cm10.1
Does anyone else have WiFi issues? Both my phone and laptop pick up signal perfectly from my room upstairs, but my Nexus struggles to load even a 420p video.

It's been discussed before. The general consensus is an old toothbrush works best.
Oooh great idea I didn't even think of that.
