Question has already been addressed here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/help/kitkat-roms-nexus-6-t3090262

honestly, if there were drivers for the n6 and kitkat, it would be easy to do. but drivers for the n6 and kitkat do not exist. and writing/compiling them from scratch would be nearly impossible.

Don't forget that security would be pretty much out the door...

What makes you think that different drivers would even be necessary? There is nothing that is fundamentally changed in the structure of the drivers from 4.4 to 5.x that would even make it *difficult* to get 4.4 running on the drivers we have.

His caveat is he won't do it because it is pointless. He won't even do it to prove a point. Not because he can't of course, but because he thinks it is pointless. It is pointless, but it's a point we'd all love to see him prove.

[Q] Honeycomb

This question just popped to my mind.. Will we ever get Honeycomb on our XL? Or is it already available?
The question that has just popped into my mind is why would you want it when its made for tablets and ICS is better

You can get launchers, but actually honeycomb would be a huge port job and I don't think we will see it being done. Even on devices like Desire HD we haven't seen a fully functional one.

Ubuntu for Tablets Build Out. Port now for touchpad

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install?action=show&redirect=TouchInstallProcess The sources for Nexus devices are out. Anyone fancy porting it to touchpad
Topic was seriously misleading.

Do people honestly understand how difficult it was to get cm9 and cm10 on this device, let alone porting something completely different.

But there's already a full Ubuntu port for the Touchpad, can't be much harder to get the Tablet edition ported.
I ordered a HP touchopad from ebay this morning couse i am able to got the ubuntu Tablet build to work in my emulator and i just cant spend 400 on a nexus 10. Should work. the port will come.
If the port will come, that will be awesome.
Check here tomorrow:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
that thing is just a demo version so far. i just had it on my nexus4 and its a nice proof of concept but far from everyday use.

You don't have to post that in every topic. Just because it's a demo version doesn't mean it has no value to port to our Touchpad. We already have alpha's for CM, full Ubuntu, Slackware etc. so one alpha more with a real tablet interface is welcome.

I think he was more just warning that its not running great right now not trying to discourage development. I put it on my n4 to and it really is an awesome interface but still pretty laggy. I cant wait to see it ported though it would complement the touchpad perfectly

Porting to touchpad
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
heres what it says on website
You can find all the needed Android git repositories at http://phablet.ubuntu.com/gitweb. This is basically a mirror of CyanogenMod 10.1, but containing only the needed low level services used by Android (e.g. no Dalvik at all).
As we're using CyanogenMod, we can easily take advantage of all the devices that are officially supported there.
It looks as though porting to our Touchpad should be very nearly cut and paste. Am I correct?

Ok did you even try this Build yourself?
I did and it is a demo. Its not working properly when it comes to more than as sliding the Desktops or starting and closing apps. people get excited and think its a daily driver already. no its not, yet. its just a show of concept. We have alphas from CM running on our touchpad, BUT the CM OS behind that is not alpha. it is a well tested and running OS and that is a HUGE difference here.
Technically it uses the CM Basis and should run on every Device that is able to run CM and meets the minimum requirements mentioned here http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/tablet/partner
Pulled sources this morning and cross compiled. In the emulator everything works perfectly. Will have to to wait till the USPS brings me my new tablet in the next few days to be sure. But i think i can have something ready to go fairly soon.
I have done ports before with some success. you just gotta understand, getting it running and getting the hardware support are two very different things.

Doubt if I'll accept the update.
This is the first android device i bought new. My rooted s4 was used. I got sick of all the glitchyness with the rooted phone. My note 4 is completely stock and I couldnt be happier with how silky smooth touchwiz is. Im not even sure im interested in uograding to lollipop.

I'm running Firekat on my Note and it's simply amazing. I am interested in Lollipop but to be honest, I am extremely happy with how my phone is running now.
To answer the OP, I read somewhere that the update would hit around February.

Something on a smaller scale, but just as frustrating back in the day was the whole 4.4 thing where you couldn't go back to 4.3 ... remember that?

Guess that means you are not supposed to be running it and/or complaining. Using their own testers. Pretty much why I don't run previews/betas. As a nurse my device has to be dependable.

Does your AT&T plan include tethering? Because I'm pretty sure the iPhone checks to make sure you are allowed before turning it on as well.
That said, I'm also bummed about the root situation, but for other reasons. I did find a pretty good firewall in NetGuard, and (ironically) the Package Disabler app that only works on Samsung devices was able to disable most of the bloat. Only the ability to backup and restore individual apps (or even just their data) is missing, and why I still wish I had root.
(yes, I know I can use ADB for some backups, but I'm not sure downgrades are possible that way)
