Magnetic charger!!! Fastcharge&syncing works - Galaxy S6 Edge Accessories

Comes with 2 micro usb socket thingy
1 cord
And a pry tool to remove the micro usb
Only problem is finding the right case for it.
Also in order for the fast charging and syncing to work. You have to make sure you connect the cord with the light facing you.
Pretty much it. I like it so far!

Damn this looks pretty cool. Have you noticed any downsides to it? (Besides having to take the magnetic charger everywhere you go to actually use it)

Slower data transfer. But it might be because it was a twrp backup. Which is around 7 to 8gbs. (My battery last all day so I never have to bring it with me).

If you could find a bumper case that covered the bottom, then carve out the shape of the mag-charger into it that might look good as it'll be flush.

Tpu case works. (After you cut it).

Home made Stylus for Nook

I've been waiting for week to get my materials to make the home made stylus, finally the most important piece arrived. This took hours to get it to work right. It was a lot easier to get a working stylus for an iPod Touch, but after some tinkering, screaming, sweating and fails I got a pretty good working one. Check out my youtube video (sorry for the bad quality, did on a digital kodak camera very baaad):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujdsEt5zX8I
http://lifehacker.com/5836870/build...n-the-cheap-with-a-ballpoint-pen-and-a-sponge
Here one I read about, don't know if it would work or not though.
I just use a chop stick. Must be hundreds of them floating around my house of different styles, materials, points. Same at work just not so many. I hang on to one for a while, lose/misplace it and it'll take me a day or two to settle on another. No muss no fuss.
Quick question, can you please tell me where you got all the materials?

The most important piece, the conductive foam, I got it from ebay. Just search conductive foam, I got a 4" x 4" still have more than half left. I'm thinking that the wire and metal casing are unnecessary, so any pen or pencil casing should do. What I have discovered so far is that the Nook stylus I made requires a large surface, like you see in the video. I wanted it to be really thin at the beginning that's why it didn't work, since the NC screen isn't as responsive as we would all want.
Anyways, the wire I used, I got it from an old coaxial cable (TV cable). Also, I got the idea from this video, which is a lot more instructive than mine...I just wanted to test it in the NC:
http://youtu.be/4YE8rGuLCtU
I think im going to try a sponge before i get conductive foam.
Very nice! Did you tried to slim the tip of conductive foam?
What is the notebook software are you using on the video?

At first I was trying to get the tip to be the thinnest possible, so it would mimic a ball point pen, but apparently the LCD in the NC need a bigger surface to respond to touches. I was able to get a thin version working on an iPod Touch 3G no problem. I'm going to try to make a new following the video that inspired me, I just need a more flexible wire to make it. Anyways, the app I used is called Handrite
I'm not sure why you'd go to the trouble when you can get a stylus for a couple of bucks on Amazon...
Because of curiosity and creativity and inventively spirit?

This experiment cost me less than 2 bucks, since I used everyday materials around the house. The only thing I had to buy was the foam, which I still have more than half left, maybe for making more or using them for other stuff like transporting cpus xD
Edit: Oh and you might find the foam in everyday electronics too, like HDD casings, tv remotes, etc. So you could get a working (proven to work on NC) stylus for free.

it works and it was really easy to make
Yesterday I had my Nook sitting open on my desk, and plugged in my phone.
The cord dragged over the screen of the Nook, and the keyboard happened to be open. Everywhere the cord touched it tapped a letter.
I tried it again with the cord plugged in to AC, but not the phone...and nothing.
Plugged the phone back in, and was able to tap keys again using the cord.
Maybe we could get a battery-operated stylus that just runs power down to the tip .
I'm thinking triple-a battery, small insulated wire down to, then acting as, the tip, and simply return up to the other end of the battery.
No clue if this would be bad for the screen or not, but as long as it's a low level of power, can't see why it would be.
We have some very creative people here who have the skills to not only make something like this happen, but regulate the flow of power through the wire from the battery.
My thought is that since the screen isn't so great for a stylus on the Nook, maybe enhancing the tapping power of the stylus would help.
For anyone who has no clue what they are doing but wants to try anyways, DO NOT use exposed wire, and in any event i'm not responsible for what happens with the use/misuse/abuse of this information.
Any thoughts on this?
ETA:
Maybe a small triple-a flashlight would make a good starting base for this project, a lot of them go real cheap anymore. Just do away with the light itself, and replace it with a wire. You get a switch already built in and all that way.

Without the phone, there is no current flow on the cable, and no magnetic field around it, and so, no capacitance distortion.

Yea, this I didn't know until I found out by accident. I had always just assumed there was, but now know that unless something is drawing power it's in a static state.

That is the question that I posed. If no one else is curious enough to find out, i'll get around to this eventually.
I have a handful of pen-light flashlights floating around here, it would be a simple matter to replace the led with a wire and find out.
When I find time to solder one in i'll let you know how it goes. My job is taking up way more time then i'd like in my life at the moment, so who knows when that'll be.

If you replace the LED by a wire, you will get a short-circuit on the batteries, what means that even if it works as a stylus, you will get your batteries hot and discharged very quickly.
Not to say that is dangerous if the batteries get hot!
Another way would be apply the Ohm's Law and calculate a resistor to replace the LED, but I don't know if this idea (a powered stylus) would be an energy efficient circuit...

Inexpensive charging dock from Smartphonepedia

Just received this dock and have been using it for a couple of days.
Only $10 -- a cheap alternative so some of the 40-50$ options.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Data-Sy...531363?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3f1de5aea3
It's small, feels like a decent quality piece. It's glossy black with rubber feet on the bottom so it doesn't slide around. It keeps the Note 2 supported nicely when it's dropped in. It's got a floppy rubbery insert that you can take out if you have a case.
One con is that a few times when I've yanked my phone out, the rubber piece has either partially or completely come out. My advice would be to decide on a case of not and, if you leave the rubber insert in, put a drop of hot glue or something to keep the insert in place.
See pics below. Let me know if you have questions.

Yes, it works with a slim case for me without even taking the rubber insert out. When you take the rubber insert out, there's a good 0.5-0.75cm around it, particularly the edges. A case with a big beefy back probably would not fit.

Sheesh guys. Think a little more outside your own world.
I have this dock connected to my computer at work. I walk in from a meeting, drop the phone in the charger (instead of setting it down, picking up the cable, jamming it in, etc) and it's immediately mounted as a drive on my computer and is charging anytime I'm at my desk. Need to run to a meeting? You just pick it up...no fussing with cables.
Nope, no spare battery. Surprise, most people don't need one. I spend half my day working at my desk, meaning my phone is charging half the day. In fact, I don't even feel like I ever "charge". It's just sitting in its stand. I never need to plug it in at home.
Nope, no USB or HDMI. Surprise, 99% of the people that use this phone care about that, so why pay for a $100 for a dock with it (that's the wrong color, BTW).
20 bucks? Wow, they saw you coming a mile off.
It's the same dock as this, which is in black or white.

You can just plug the phone into the dock without having to pick up the charge cable and plug it into the phone. Same for removing it from the dock. Since we have to charge the phone everyday, I would say the dock has a value.

Any possible replacement back covers coming?

Just wondered if anyone has heard about possible third party back cover in the works, since it's relatively easy to take off. I would think some 3rd party vendors may jump on it. I hate this shiny fingerprint/scratch magnet. Phone would be perfect with a better back case. I hate cover/cases.
I'm digging the scratch resistance on the phone... so so much better than GNEX I came from. That thing would scratch if I looked at it too hard.

The D802 definitely doesn't have that either.
We can still get the D800 back cover.. and find some ways to cover the hole.. But yea I'm looking for an ideal D802 white back cover.
Hopefully this will fit the sprint version. Figured the money I spend on a body wrap I can just use towards replacing the back cover when I'd resell the device.

Anyone try Phone Grips on Note 8? Opinions? Suggestions?

Anyone try one on a Note 8? I never actually used one on my own phone. Was testing out on my brother phone, not note 8. Seemed pretty handy and useful. I don't wanna waste $10-20 on one, if it's not good with Note. So trying to get opinions from people who used on Note 8.

one of them looks like a door knob. I do get the value of functionality of these things but god does it make the phone look prehistoric/abominable .
I have an ultra thin phone ring with magnetic capabilities so that I can mount it in the car. 3mm thick. Works great. Stuck it onto a dbrand skin rather than an open back. I can not only wireless charge with it but also fit it in a VR headset.
Thought of using something like this before but decided not too when i realized it would be hard to write on my phone with the spen while placed on top of a table. The phone would just be wobbly since it wont be flat on the table

I wish they just sold the strap alone. For us folks that already have case. I would buy loopy strap if they did.

You can buy just the loop no need to buy the whole case. There are many colors and variants avaliable. You have to go to accesories on their page.

Don't know, i am not using wireless charger. There are videos on youtube with loopy case + iPhone and charging works so i belive that it would work with note 8 also. If you test it let us know because i wanted to buy wireless charger but had doubts just like you.
