Best ways to charge Xperia Z without opening anything flaps? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen the external batteries, a DIY possibility, but without compromising the integrity of constantly opening and re-opening the flaps, what are the best options of charging the device?
Without taking off its case considering I have butterfingers lol.
Thanks

A charging cradle, magnetic charger which is pretty expensive and you can build your homemade cradle if you cant afford the original one

Buy a dock or get a wireless charging kit.

No, you don't have to open the flap to use cases with attached external battery. Do a search of this section of the forum and you'll find plenty of options.

Looking for a desk cradle/stand (No Dock)

Hey everyone. I'm after a cradle stand for my desk at work that doesn't have a dock. Can't seem to find any. Can only find ones with a charging dock.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
The google told me you named it wrong. Simply look up cell phone stand... profit.
one guy also posted awhile back about a home made stand. Using an old hotel key, he bent in a way that you can cradle your phone in.
edit: thread title was "need a dock? I got one for free"
I would google portable book stand. You can find something for around $10 or less.
Another option you may want to look at is the Rockfish PadPivo. You can find the first version for five to ten dollars on sale. The new version is around forty dollars. It's a bit more robust in that you can use it on a desk, or other places by using it on your leg. I've done bot. I picked up the first version for five dollars on sale at Bestbuy
I have a simple folding portable stand for my ten inch tablet that I keep in my tablet cas. I've used one or twice with the GN2, but it was a bit of overkill

I use a business card holder. You can find one at Staples or Office Depot for about $2 - $5. There are a ton of options and they look much better than a bent credit card.

Replace broken Headphone-Jack Cover

Hello!
True story: while listening to music through my headphones I was looking at the headphonejack cover (which makes it waterproof) and wondering that it is, compared to my old Moto Defy, quite fragile.
2 seconds later I drop the freaking thing and it hits right the ground right on the cover and it breaks in half...
Anyways I have found spare parts here:
http://stellatech.com/sony-lt25i-xperia-v-audio-stecker-cover-(schwarz),a,de,814797.html
I come from germany, so this would be no problem, however I wonder how do i insert the retaining mechanism without opening the xperia? I dont want to void the warranty completely!
And yes, the cover is important to me, I need it to be waterproof!
Thanks for your advice and experience!
Dan
I just want to thank you for the link. My USB cover is broken after 4 months only. Seems on the long run a shocking expensive OEM dock is cheaper than replacing these.
you are welcome.
I think the USB-Cover will be next...especially since I need to charge it quite often. With my DEFY the covers held the whole 3 years of intense usage...
OT: which dockingstation do you use for the V!? the only one i can find with different plugs than the micro USB is for the Z!?

Sony DK25. Look on Ebay. Haven't bought it yet. The price is so scary.
I am using a Chinese type that is meant for the Z, modded, but this is not good I don't recommend it.

well...I think a dock is very impractical anyways. i think this is a perfect time for building something ourselves. Isnt it just a 2 pole magnet plug, to 5V usb!?
Are there any technical specifications avaiable? I would find a plug much more practical than a docking station!

If I have the part there are plenty small handphone workshops here who can do that for a few $. Sorry I also don't know what you want to know.
With a smart design it would be just squeezing the part into some hole for self installation, and Sony would sell these caps in packs of 3 for $ 9.95.

Old thread I know.. but my audio flex cable broke and ordered mine here just now. Much appreciated.

Magnetic charger!!! Fastcharge&syncing works

Comes with 2 micro usb socket thingy
1 cord
And a pry tool to remove the micro usb
Only problem is finding the right case for it.
Also in order for the fast charging and syncing to work. You have to make sure you connect the cord with the light facing you.
Pretty much it. I like it so far!
Damn this looks pretty cool. Have you noticed any downsides to it? (Besides having to take the magnetic charger everywhere you go to actually use it)

Slower data transfer. But it might be because it was a twrp backup. Which is around 7 to 8gbs. (My battery last all day so I never have to bring it with me).
If you could find a bumper case that covered the bottom, then carve out the shape of the mag-charger into it that might look good as it'll be flush.
Tpu case works. (After you cut it).

Like i mentioned above, the magnetic is too strong, as you pull the cable off, the micro usb comes out with it.

Man that's pretty cool. The only fear I'd have is the magnet it's self. Magnets usually tend to mess up electronics, their screens, ect.

GOOQ Stand

Just received this. Good craftsmanship, heavy and stable.
Wow, that looks super convenient.. I'm actually thinking of ordering one myself after seeing this. What's your impression of it so far, would you recommend buying it?
I was all set to buy one of these then I read complaints on Amazon that there is no magnet to help hold the watch in place which leads to unreliable charging. Can anyone confirm is this indeed the case?

I have one of these GOOQ stands and it works very well - as good as the original . It has a magnet and the watch is held securely but in a much better position and using less desk space.

Been using it a while now, and it's great. The magnet is strong enough to keep the watch in place, no problem. One thing I recommend is to attach it to the desk with double-sided tape.
Btw, the watch charges pretty quick.

Anyone try Phone Grips on Note 8? Opinions? Suggestions?

Anyone try one on a Note 8? I never actually used one on my own phone. Was testing out on my brother phone, not note 8. Seemed pretty handy and useful. I don't wanna waste $10-20 on one, if it's not good with Note. So trying to get opinions from people who used on Note 8.
Opinions? Suggestions? Please & thanks!

one of them looks like a door knob. I do get the value of functionality of these things but god does it make the phone look prehistoric/abominable .
I have an ultra thin phone ring with magnetic capabilities so that I can mount it in the car. 3mm thick. Works great. Stuck it onto a dbrand skin rather than an open back. I can not only wireless charge with it but also fit it in a VR headset.
Thought of using something like this before but decided not too when i realized it would be hard to write on my phone with the spen while placed on top of a table. The phone would just be wobbly since it wont be flat on the table
This 1 might be just right. Got funded 4Xs over goal.

You could try Loopy case. I use it on my Note 8 and absolutely love it. I have small hands but with this i can reach every corner of my phone. Had a few on my previous phones and im impressed. Daughter has pop sockets, other filmsy rings-straps and after trying them my opinion is that loop is way better.
