While using Flashtool to flash a stock FTF to my device, the USB cable accidentally came out and when I boot the device now, it tells me "The software update failed, Make sure that your phone is connected to the computer and try again.
I can't seem to access flashmode anymore but I can access fastboot.
What steps can I take to get back into flashmode so that I can reflash the device?
EDIT: I do not have an unlocked bootloader, the vibrating motor stopped working on the device so it needs to be sent in for warranty repairs
I charged the phone for an hour and was able to enter flashmode.
From there, I was able to use PC Companion to repair the phone and reflash it. All is well now

Hi all, I'm new here and very much a novice when it comes to phones, operating systems etc so excuse me for the noob question and complete lack of knowledge...
My Xperia T developed a microphone fault whereby nobody could hear me when I called them (incredibly faint). I had the phone repaired at a local repair shop. Almost immediately upon receiving the phone back it developed a (What appears to be very common) battery fault, whereby it would reach 80% then shut down, restart, shut down, restart......
So, before returning it to the shop for further repairs I attempted a repair using the sony software. Half way through this repair the phone shut down!!! PC lost communication and I was left with a phone that simply displayed the 'Sony' start-up logo.
I have now returned to the shop and they have installed a new battery but are unable to get communication with the phone via the sony software (so basically they dont appear to be getting any further than me!). They are saying it is beyond repair - but I find that hard to believe? Surely it is just a software issue?
Can anyone advise what can be done? I am reluctant to write this phone off - surely it can be flashed with a new operating system or whatever needs to be done to what is essentially now a 'dumb' device?
This is the way to fix the software issue, ALL YOU DATA WILL BE LOST. And i'm not responsible for anything might happen to you device . DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Google xperia t .145 ftf file
Google flashtool for xperia
Download them
When you have installed flashtool, go to its folder, install drivers (tick the TX, flashmode and fastboot drivers boxs)
Open flashtool, click the lightning logo, select flashmode
Put the firmware file you've downloaded to the firmware folder in flashtool folder.
Connect the phone in flashmode, hold power and volume up until it vibrates 3 times, now hold the vol down, plug your phone in the computer with flashtool running, you will now able to flash the firmware.
Good luck man.

Thankyou very much for your reply!! Thats what I need, a step by step muppets guide!
To be honest I couldn't care less about any data, I'm way past that stage - if I can just have the phone working again I would be a very happy man (I'm fairly desperate as you can probably tell, Im running my business from an ancient, failing HTC desire following weeks of the shop having the sony!). I can't really afford to write off a phone I paid good money for 6 months back so need to have a go myself.
I am collecting the phone today so will give that a go.....
So I had a go at the above - got the flash tool installed (Emma?) etc and managed to get the software to see the phone - unfortunately though I had neglected to mention the phone is locked to a particular network, which Emma politely informs me.
So, I have attempted to follow unlocking instructions as per the sony instructions (on their website):
But I am stuck. I was getting nothing when using the volume down button and connecting. To get the computer to see the phone I have to press and hold the power button, the red led starts blinking 3 times, repeatedly. This causes windows to recognise the phone when plugged in via usb, but I was not being asked for drivers (as per sony step 13). I found the device in device manager and uninstalled drivers in an attempt to force this. Now all that happens is the device appears in the list as 'S1 Boot Load' with a yellow exclamation mark. However I have then tried installing drivers manually from the location where I copied 'android_winusb' to, but this does not work.
To compound the issue I think the battery problem is causing the phone to cycle. when connected the green led lights up for a bit, but then goes off, then back on, then red.....repeatedly. The device only appears in device manager as 'S1 boot load' when green. This gives a very short window to try to do anything.
Wrong flashtool, download the one from the Dev section and flash a stock FTF

Oh right, first mistake then. The phone will still need unlocking first though I assume?

You do not even need root.

I've been dealing with a similar problem. When connected to a wall charger is your phone cycling from Green to Red and keeps doing that? Also have you installed Sony PC Companion maybe your phone will get recognized from the drivers in that install.
Same problem
Hi, I am currently having the same problem. I have tried to use flashtools and I've got all the necessary drivers (I think) but once I put hold power button and vol+ (3 vibrations), then press vol-, connect to pc via USB and I get a temporary green led, which goes after about 5 seconds, and then my phone disconnects from my computer again. I really need my phone to work Could someone out there please help with this! I would really appreciate if someone responded very soon as I would like to get this sorted as soon as possible. Flashtools gives me these messages:
22/012/2013 23:12:07 - INFO - Device disconnected
22/029/2013 23:29:07 - INFO - Device connected in flash mode
22/029/2013 23:29:18 - INFO - Device disconnected
Also one more thing i'd like to add.. Once I go into that BLU thing, it keeps on asking me what device I have, so I select Xperia T and then it gives the following messages:
22/052/2013 22:52:26 - INFO - Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked
22/052/2013 22:52:26 - INFO - You can now unplug and restart your phone
Might this have something to do with it? Any suggestions would be grateful! I've been at this for hours now and need to get this sorted
Thanks to any kind person who helps fix this!

I can access recovery mode which is Teamwin.
I can access flash mode and fastboot mode.
I tried to flash a ftf file I was told about but my flashtool wouldnt recognize it .

How about flashtool drivers, have you install it yet? If your phone can get flashmode or fastboot mode, flashtool should detect your phone, unless you did it the wrong way.

Flashtool does detect my phone and when it gets disconnected. It is when I hit on the flash icon and go to where directory for ftf is that it will not recongize any ftf files anywhere. I have heard similar problems with same issue but havent seen a solution except maybe the ftf file i have is corrupted
I tried researching for information on this but wasn't able to resolve it. Basically, i have the same problem as here; Flashed a ROM, but after flashing it I found out I did it for the wrong model (5833 instead of 5803). When flashing the rom I wiped Dalvik, Cache, Data and System, and now I'm stuck at the Sony startup screen. It won't let me go into recovery mode.
I too tried to flash stock using flashtools, but it tells me "INFO - Device Status: NOT FOUND". I tried using the Sony PC companion restore function but I get the same problem, telling me there's no phone/device connected.
EDIT: I tried following the steps from this post, but I'm still stuck at the Sony loading screen.
Is there anything to do?
Have you tried the following with the sony companion?
Shut down the phone completely by pressing power and vol+ until the red led lights up and it vibrates a few times.
Now without connecting the phone you go to pc companion, update > repair my phone > select the model > check the boxes and go forward in the menue until it promts you to connect the phone. Your internet connection of your pc should be working for this.
Make sure you have the original cable or another high quality cable, blow into the micro sd slot on the phone in case there is some dirt in it. Might also check it with a light for some foreign partikels stuck in there.
Oke, assuming there is no actual crap in the micro sd slot, when pc companion prompts you to conntect the phone you do as it says, you press vol- and connect the phone to the pc at the same time.
The process takes a very long time so be patient or do something else while its repairing. If its not working try one more time.
If its still not working try to get it shipped in for sony warranty repair by calling the hotline and lying about your abuse of the phone and just say it suddenly stopped working.
Other options are to pay for repair at a phone repair shop or sell the brick.

First see if fastboot devices command gives your phone serial no. or not. If yes then it's a good news, flash recovery again, boot into recovery, flash rom and boot system.
If not, you may need to update your device driver in PC.
First possibility: your fastboot driver in pc needs to be updated.
2nd possibility: Some phones have EDL mode (emergency download) , google if your phone has it. Then you can probably use some tool to restore your phone from this mode.
Hi,
I faced with a problem what I never seen before:
The device works normally, its on 28.0.A.7.24. I tried to update with PC Companion, it recognized the device as E6533, and offered new software.
Once process started, it downloaded, then phones rebooted instead goes to flash mode. After it (until next reboot), phone completely gone mad:
overheated, not asked for pin code, also IMEI was not available etc.
I tried with Flashtool too, but holding VolumeDown not works. It close to immediatelly drops the boot screen, and never enter flashmode.
Had anyone meet with this issue? How could I fix it?
Fastboot mode is working fine by holding VolumeUp, but flashmode not.
Thanks for help,
Your driver usb may be update,,new pc/laptop come with usb 3
Hello, I tried to flash kitkat, I run flashtool and start flashing it but after a while in the middle of flashing it says device disconnected. After that if I connect it to my PC in flashmode it says it has a problem with this device, I can see it in the device manager as an unknown device, device ID is USB/UNKNOWN, fastboot mode says its a sony ADB interface but when I click on it it says it cannot run this device, the device ID is USB/VID_0FCE&PID_0DDE&REV_0100. Is there any way I can repair it? If I try to power up my phone the sony logo appears and it says the software update failed. If I connect it to charger its the same, no battery appears. If someone know how to rescue it please reply, I buyed it yesterday and its already broken
Now I check it on flashtool, after I connect the usb while pressing vol up button it says device connected in fastboot mode but when I click on check current device status it says device status: not found, also get device info says this action can only be done in fastboot mode
And now my PC doesn't notice if something is connected, no device problem pop up, just nothing. Now when I connect it to the charger the led flash red one short time and nothing
EDIT: now i charged it for a while and PC see it again, on charging bootloop with software update failed
Try to flash stock firmware with flashtool and see if it even recognizes it.
