Full stock Nexus 6 in a bootloop - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone!
I am really in a deseperate situation. My nexus 6 is in a bootloop. The biggest problem is that the bootloader is locked ( no option is ticked either) and usb debugging is not enabled. Is there any way I can reflash using fastboot or stock recovery?
Please help!

No, no way to flash when locked other than trying to sideload an OTA. I suggest you boot to recovery and try a factory data reset.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried to hard reset but in vain. To sideload an OTA do I still need usb debugging enabled?

I don't think so. What version of software were you on prior to this issue? Try to grab an OTA for your current version to the next available version if possible. Otherwise, your only option, if factory reset didn't work, is to RMA.

[Q] Latest software update keeps failing. Help!

Hi all. I've got two VZW LG G2s that are rooted, and the current KitKat update continues to download and fail. Is there any way to force the update?
VZW support suggests a factory reset and I dont' want to do that for sure.

Do you still have the stock recovery? You need it for this update to take.

Thanks for the reply. So I guess I'd have to do a factory reset, or is there a way to unroot?

If you need the stock recovery back, easiest thing to do is wipe the phone back to stock using the flashtool then let it take the OTA, you can re-root with ioroot25 afterwards and if you need TWRP, re-install it with AutoRec.

Most of it's listed in there. Use AutoRec to install TWRP, you can find it in the regular G2 Dev section.

Nexus keeps rebooting after Firmware update to 5.1

Hi all,
I flashed the factory image from developer.google.com version 5.1 for my Nexus 6. After installing all my phone keeps rebooting and optimizing apps. It keeps doing this and i cant seem to find a way to get in my phone.
I relocked bootloader and cannot unlock it now because it says i need to check OEM unlock in developer options.
Any idea how i can fix this? it looks like im stuck and cannot find a way to unlock anymore to flash something else.
also, i went back into recovery and formatted data and cache. no effects after this.

Did you use WUG's toolkit?
I had this, just had to reflash the image again but I didn't relock it first, so cant help with that.

no this doesnt work
because i have no more unlocked bootloader.
@haruyu I'm in a similar situation ... Sadly I see no fix
Only thing I can think of is flashing something in stock recovery (if at all possible) ... But I don't if there is a stock recovery compatible files to flash

As yet, there is nothing we have found to fix this issue. I can't think if a fix anyway. maybe someone more familiar than me will find one but for now no-one has.
im guessing my phone is bricked.

Yes (and hopefully no) .... we can access fastboot, but that doesn't help because (as you know) we can flash stock images with a locked bootloader. I am hoping some of our brilliant devs can come up with a solution (they like a good challenge LOL) being we can get to fastboot, but if not, yes, we are essentially bricked
There's an option in advance that force flashes the stock image...trying going back to 5.01 then 5.1. I tried doing the flash files like some did and got stuck in a infinite bootloop so I went into the advanced thing and done it there.
HI all,
I also faced same issues Nexus 6 keep rebooting after updating to 5.1.
Locked Bootloader
any positive help would be highly appreciated

You could try sideloading the Marshmallow update to see if that helps, sideload it and then factory reset. See if it boots fine then.

[Q] No OS on phone

So, like an absolute idiot I wiped /system without a proper ROM zip on my device and I'm stuck with no OS on my device. I asked for Drive access to the KK factory image from Motorola, am I heading in the correct path for success? Does someone already have the KK image that they could provide for me? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance
Yeah your on the right path I did the same thing once
Once you get the factory image, you'll use fastboot to flash the files with the instructions Moto provides. You'll be fine.
Do u still have a custom recovery installed? You can put the to custom ROM zip on the flash drive or SD card and plug in an otg cable to the phone and you should be able to flash the ROM from there. Or you can do adb sideload from the recovery
Sent from my XT1097 using XDA Free mobile app
you can always download it from this devs website http://www.graffixnyc.com/motox.php

Did something very similar to this. Used SolarTrans' guide as Motorola never sent me the factory image. Installed the OTA from the phone itself and then flashed the 5.1 OTA and I'm good to go. You guys are the kind who keep these forums great!
I have the same issue but my bootloader is locked and when I try to unlock it i get error "'Enable OEM Unlock' in developer options"

This is exactly what I did to fix the exact same issue. Essentially soft bricked my phone 17 hours after receiving it from Motorola [emoji27] but this got me back on my feet and I've been running lollipop on a rooted XT1095 with no issues for 6 months [emoji106]

Custom binary blocked by FRP lock

I attempted to root with cs autoroot a month ago, but it failed, so I turned off the OEM unlocker, but later on today I was restarting it and it went into a brick with the message "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" displayed on the top of the screen and then the screen goes off again. I tried to go into recovery and reset, but the message came up again. I also tried to flash with the stock firmware, but it said that it failed. Help?

If you cannot flash the original firmware with Odin then, if you can boot to download mode, you should be able to do a firmware reinstall using Samsung Kies or Smartswitch.

Yeah I just do not know how to get my S / N for smartswitch, and I am unfamiliar with Samsung Kies (never heard of it). However, I will look up more on Samsung Kies, thank you very much! By the way, does it matter if my OEM is locked?

You can get your s/n by booting into download mode and then hitting the home button. Does not matter that oem is locked. Just download Kies and enter model number and s/n. There is a video on youtube if you need further assistance. I have done it a number of times. Once with a phone that had the entire system wiped. Once you are restored be sure to enable developer options, oem unlock and usb debugging before rooting.

If you decide you want to root and install a custom Rom then you will want to enable developer options and then OEM and USB debugging.
Thank a lot for all your help along the way, after my latest experience with root I don't know if I'm still up for it. I appreciate all the help.

Hi,
I'm trying to upgrade my phone from android 5.1.1 to 6.0.1. I have follow this thread to do this.

I was able to upgrade my phone from G890AUCU2AU2AOF4 to G890AUCU3BOJE using ODIN. But I can't upgrade from G890AUCU3BOJE to a newer firmware.
I get the error below when I try to apply this upgrade "SS-G890AUCU3BOJE-to-U3BPB3-UP"

I'm getting the error below
Code:

E: Error in /sideload/package.zip
(Status 7)
I have read your link regarding thet status 7 error, but I don't find a solution.
Can you help me ?
You can see a screenshot of the error using the address below :

Just use smart switch. It is safest and fastest method for upgrading.

Oh, OK.
Messed up CSC configuration causes this error. Try this;
Flash the latest Odin-Flash available FW via Odin. After you've flashed, do factory reset from stock recovery. Then, when the phone boots up, just reboot to bootloader and flash the latest Odin-Flash available FW via Odin again. When the phone boots up, do factory reset from Settings application. After the phone boots up, try to install update via ADB.

We have to wait until ATT makes it available to get the OTA or update via Smart Switch.
There's another thread in here on how to use Odin and load MM, but it's not the 'official' way.
