Hi all !
Since a week, i had a GPS problem with my i9305, it happened after i had flashed couple of AOSP roms, i dont know after which one it was exactly, the problem was that it couldnt get a lock onto my location, also couldnt find any satellites in any GPS fix/testing apps avaialable in the playstore, it was showing the blinking GPS icon on the left side in the statusbar, but there was no lock, it was endlessly blinking/searching for nothing.. Ive switched many times between AOSP and Samsung based roms, but this was the first time i encountered this kind of problem, which took me a week to figure out how to fix it :silly:
I tried many possible solutions such as, full wiping the rom, factory resetting within the settings, flashing back to STOCK rom with Odin, tightening the screws in the back of the phone, resetting and updating AGPS, changing GPS related files and libs in the rom, trying different roms etc. etc. with all to no avail !!
Then i did some research on the net and found the solution that worked for me, surprisingly it did even fix GLONASS that wasnt working before the problem occured, now GPS works perfectly fine!
SOLUTION:
1. first we need to enter service mode, this may differ for various android versions (4.3 - 4.4.4 - 5.1.1 etc.) just search for the right method if it is different. I did this on my android 4.4.4 KK ported note4 rom (Eclipse ROM)
Note: be sure the rom your doing this on, has the ServiceModeApp(_RIL).apk installed in system/priv-app, otherwise you wont be able to get in service mode!
Note: also if you dont have a sim password set, your phone might get sim locked, so set a pin password before doing this, afterwards you can always disable it again if you want..
2. in dial pad enter *#0011# to get in service mode
3. to unlock the main menu: press menu --> press back --> press menu --> press key input --> enter Q0 --> press ok and wait for the main menu to appear
4. now, press UMTS --> press COMMON --> press NV REBUILD --> press Restore Back-up
5. your device should now be rebooting and after that GPS issue should be fixed hopefully test your GPS with any app from the playstore..
Steps 3 and 4 pictures:

Yep, same thing, different procedure :good:
I really appreciate you sharing the fix. I've spent the best part of today trying to find a solution to this, and have taken my S3 apart more than once.
I even think I tried this fix earlier on my non-stock ROM and it didn't work.
Worked for me on the stock 4.4.4 ROM for EE.

GPS problem fixed
Hey,
and thank you soooo much for your helping advice
I did like you said and voila, GPS problem is history.
But what problem I still have is that I can´t flash any 5.x.x custom ROMs. Flashing goes well, but when it is time to reboot, my i9305 stuck to somekind of loop. I can flash stock ROM 4.4.4 and custom ROMs 4.4.4 as well, but Lollipop doesn´t work.
First time I had this problem was when I flashed some 5.1 ROM ( I don´t remember what was it ) But in that ROM suddenly happen that "Google services has stopped" or something like that. I couldn´t do nothing with phone. That error came again and again to phone´s screen..
So I was in situation that I had to flash stock 4.4.4 stock ROM. eveything went well, but GPS didn´t work anymore. Then I found your advice and I thought that now I can again flash custom ROMs as well. Flashing any custom 5.x.x ROM goes well, but in reboot, pghone stuck to loop.
Or had I wait longer in first time I reboot phone after flash?
Thank you so much in advance

I don't know if it is related to your problem, but I had many problems with 5.X.X builds boot looping because of wrong gapps package. For example, using PA gapps with CM12.1 or Resurrection Remix causes a bootloop, but just flashing the rom and rebooting doesn't cause any bootloop at all. You might want to flash just the rom and let it boot. Cheers
I tried this and it ****ed my IMEI and efs folder i think my phone is dead

Can you confirm that your IMEI is really f***ed by flashing this zip file in recovery? Always helped me to bring back my IMEI (uploading to Gdrive ATM)
Edit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9NUrR6bPQUxT2R6cWNiNHBTdjg/view?usp=sharing here you go.
I fixed it by flashing an official stock rom but thanks any way
Thank god for this fix, had to do it manually coz flashing the zip in recovery didn't work out for me. Thanks!

Thanks so much! This worked for me on AMCHA Rom KK v6.10.
I had previously upgraded to a 5.x ROM and then downgraded and I think this is when the GPS had stopped working.
I ran through the provided steps and did not get a Sim Lock error after reboot either.
Legend!
thnx @MaHo_66

To all using this method, if your device has been unlocked by someone,
THIS METHOD WILL RE-LOCK IT
Solutions:
You're probably on the knox bootloader, and to use the commands of that xda thread, you need a 4.1 rom.
But you can't flash a 4.1 rom because it will fail on the bootloader, so you need a 4.1 with 4.3 bootloader in ODIN format.
Here's one, fzeta is a forum member, all credits to him:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/9y2xo8a16w41eyr/Firmware_4.1.1_Modificado_for_fzeta.zip
Flash the rom, unlock the device with the known commands, and then re-flash philz recovery by known methods, and you're done.
*#0011# gets me into service mode but Q0 doesnt work for me on 4.4.4
any other codes?
thanks work for me

Tip for most issues, without losing data
Wipe dalvik, wipe cache, wipe battery stats and see if problem persists.
From IceColdSandwich ICS by Psyloid
Recommended test procedure to verify if it is a bug with your setup or the rom
1. Boot into recovery, make backup of your rom
2. Format all your phone partitions
3. Install latest ROM-version
4. Don't install any apps (unless you have 1 app that has the problem)
5. Test to see if you have the same problem
6. Check with Desire HD or this thread to see if others continue to have your problem
7. Report it if you see no one else has your problem
From IceColdSandwich ICS by Kaijura
Stuck on bootscreen after ROM-install
If you are S-ON you will have to flash the boot.img yourself via PC using ADB:
1. How to setup ADB
2. Place boot.img in ADB-folder
3. Boot phone into bootloader and choose fastboot
4. Open cmd and when in ADB-folder type "fastboot flash boot boot.img").
For S-OFF try either to flash the kernel manually with recovery or try another kernel.
If that does not solve the boot-problem it can be the ROM-file that is corrupt, try to download it again, best from a PC and get access to your SD-card with recovery, then install ROM again.
Phone frozen, save a battery pull
Instead of pulling battery each time you can press volume up+down and power to make a soft reboot.
From IceColdSandwich ICS by johnblundon
ROM boots fine, but I can't turn on WiFi
For S-ON users you will have to manually push the bcm4329.ko, read about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1549480

YouTube/Video playback reboots phone
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Developer Options
3. Tick Disable HW Overlays

Temporary fix for the Gallery
1. Delete the .nomedia file from /sdcard/ and potentially /data/
2. Wipe Media Storage Data (Settings>Apps>Media Storage)
3. Reboot.

Android ICS solutions
Unable to download apps from Market
1. Delete the proxy and port from the APN.
2. Delete accounts.db from /data/system
3. Delete Play store and Download manager data from App Settings.
4. Delete Google Framework Services data from Settings again.

Crash when opening music application
Find Music Application in your Settings->Apps and clear it's data.
Hotreboot when pulling earplugs
1. Disable the Music Application in Settings->Apps->All->Music->Disable
2. Install Google Play Music from XDA ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1533816 )

From what I can hear an see you have posted this problem in many threads making it hard for me and you to know if you still have the same problem or if problem is different but same result.
I wasn't sure anybody was using this post anymore but with the JellyBean and a new round of debugging it seems the use for it rises again.

OPTUS MMS PROBLEMS ON AOKP/AOSP/CM ROM's
Most of the thanks for the information in this thread needs to go to the Bearded Doom and others from various threads relating to AOKP/AOSP ROM's.
It is a brief set of instructions that will hopefully allow Optus AU subscribers to send and receive MMS messages with minimal problems.
The first section is the initial setup. You need to modify your MMS APN and your message application.
Open APN’s.
Open your Optus MMS APN.
Change APN Type (near the bottom) from ‘mms’ to blank.
Save APN and exit.
Open Message application.
Open settings
Change Multi Media setting for Automatic download to be off.
Save and exit.
Thats it. Now you need to decide what you do more off. Do you use your data connection or receive MMS messages predominantly.
If, like me, you use data more often than receiving/sending MMS’s have the Optus Internet APN selected.
When you receive a MMS message you go into APN’s, select the Optus MMS APN and back out. I go into flight mode wait 15 or 30 seconds and then deselect flight mode forcing your phone to connect back up in MMS mode. Open your message and select Download and you should shortly receive the file.
Occasionally I have had a slight hiccup between downloading multiple MMS files and need to go into Flight mode and back out to give it a hurry up. But having used this method for the past 3 months I am finally able to get MMS’s.
Now do the reverse of above to select your Data connection.
If you rarely use Data then have your Optus MMS APN selected and if wanting to use data go into APN’s, select the Optus Internet APN and back out. I go into flight mode wait 15 or 30 seconds and then deselect flight mode forcing your phone to connect back up in data mode. Download files, use data etc.
Now do the reverse of above to select your MMS connection.

After a series of poorly judged flashes and (eventually) factory resets in the name of acquiring root, I am left with a stock S6 that gets no service whatsoever. Knox is tripped. The phone shows 5 bars but will not connect to 4G, GSM, CDMA, nor will it send/receive anything unless it's connected to Wifi and uses wifi calling.
I've been trying to fix this since 11pm last night and I am extremely frustrated. I would love to pay someone who has a clear understanding of these things to hold my hand through getting this thing working again. I have passed the point where my skills can help me.
Hi do you have facebook
Sent from my SM-G800H using Tapatalk
Have you put in your phone companies apn settings ?
Have you tried to Odin back to stock? It sounds like you flashed a custom recovery; what exactly did you do?
Yes, the APN settings are correct. I entered them manually in a second profile, but they were prepopulated as well. Neither makes a difference. I get "Not registered on network" when I try to make a call. When I try to have the phone detect TMobile's network, it says "Unable to select network. Select automatically".
The big issue is, I'm fairly certain the first thing I flashed was not meant for this phone...smh. I was able to Odin back to stock. Before and after multiple factory resets and cache wipes (though no settting for Dalvik cache in recovery...does this mean anything?) everything works fine except I have no service.
Try and toggle Airplane mode on and off? Also if you were on Wifi with Wifi calling disable both of those for the time being. Last case would be to odin factory firmware.
yes, i've tried that. i've tried removing the sim card for a few minutes to no avail.
with wifi and wifi calling on, the phone functions as normal but as soon as that's off, everything stops working.
I don't trust Odin to wipe everything it should.
Download a rooted stock rom. Then go into recovery, mount /system and wipe /system, cache & data, then flash the rom. Finish the setup wizard and try to make a call without wifi. If you cannot, verify APN is correct.
You could have a bad sim card. Sim cards die just like any other piece of electronics. Go to T-Mobile and swap sim cards, they should do it for free.
Edit: I just realized you are probably still on stock recovery. Root your system, flash twrp, then nuke the phone in recovery and start from scratch.
I assume you already tried restoring a nandroid. If that doesn't work and you can't make calls after restoring via Odin or flashing another rom, then you may have corrupted the EFS partition. The only way to recover from that is if you backed up your original EFS partition. A lot of people don't bother, but it is a critical step before flashing your first mod.
..
thank you so much for the advice. i'm trying this now.

okay, i do think it's possible that i corrupted the EFS partition. however, in download mode, the IMEI number it displays is correct.
i am able to get the phone rooted and twrp installed, but once i try to flash the rooted stock rom, i get a "error executing updater binary in zip". not sure how to proceed.
i may abandon the phone altogether and just order an insurance replacement :-/

With knox tripped gooood luck. Also, did u have an EFS backup?
That error message means the rom zip is looking for a different device code than the one you are trying to flash it on. Where did you get the rom file? Are you sure it is correct for your S6?

Samsung phones are amazingly resilient - and under most conditions (unless you the phone is really totally FUBARed ) odining back to stock cures 99% of all problems - at least that I have seen. And except in one instance with the NOTE 3 (after it's initial release) Odining the stock rom usually fixes the problem every time. The note three was an unusual circumstance in my memory - and it happend to a bunch of people - I actually screwed up two phones and returned them both to get replacements - Odin would not fix the problem because one of the particians or maybe all of them had been corrupted) but you had an IMEI where I did not - so I don't think that was your issue (although, I may be wrong)
anyway, I can understand your frustration - I have been there my self - but usually cooler heads (the people at XDA) have helped me to find the solution that eventually worked - did you try to ODIN back to Stock? If that did not work then returning the phone may have been your only option - but I would love to know if you did try that option?

THE previous thread my probleme i stuck in bootloop even if i flash stock or factory binray but i found a solution and fixed bootloop
but now i dont have imei 1 or imei 2 is unknown
and baseband for device is unknown
and the spen remote is connecting and dont connect to my note 9
so you initially failed to do something first and this got you in the state you are in.(what did u do?)
strike 1.
then you also failed at restoring from a backup.( by restoring your twrp backup that should at least have EFS partition saved if not all of them)( but you probably didint back up anything)
strike 2.
now, when you flash stock i don't think you actualy flashed anything and failed at that too.
strike 3.
so i belive the issue is reading and then understanding it.
no efforts from anyone in the forums can fix that. only you can.
so read up on:
what type/model of phone you have.
what OEM unlock is.
what version/model of firmware it supports.
how different versions of odin exsist to flash firmware.
how to use odin and fill up the proper slots.
where to download rhe correct stock firmware.
how to properly flash twrp and wipe/format to prepare phone
how to use twrp for backuping and flashing.
how magisk is required to boot a twrp/rooted phone ( prolly your bootloop issue originally)
once all of the above is mastered then all your problems will vanish.
good luck on the literature
(btw from looking at the pictures your modem(CP) or part of the EFS partition has a missing file(s). anyways nothing flashing the correct stock firmware can't fix)
and spen is bound to phones imei. so in this case spen will connect again once you fix by restoring stock properly.
and since I'm such in a good mood,if you properly went through all the steps explained before and REALLY restored stock and also if you are rooted find a way to open:
efs/imei/mps_code.dat
if you get an error while opening it just copy to sd card and open it from there.

Since you haven't rooted or flashed any other firmware why don't you approach Samsung support? Tell them I tried to factory reset and since then it was like this.

Hi, I had the same problem and managed to sort it out. Find your service provider firmware on Sammobile and download it with Sam firm, extract it and load I'm Odin all necessary files and good to go. After that you can flash with Odin android pie straight on your note 9. Let me know if you still need any help. Good luck.
I also have same issue on my note 9 due to sam fix tool
maybe they should call it the sam break tool.
where is the file located again?
id be curious to study it
Usually its a modem issue when that happens. Perhaps find the right modem for your device and use Odin. It used to happen to me when I flashed international ROMs on my n910t . I would have to flash my models modem and it goes back to normal.

Note 9 (atleast USA models) I thought couldnt flash TWRP. Unless you're in binary but not even sure if that works. Also it cant be oem unlocked. However in Binary of course. Is the S pen really bound to IMEI? My IMEI number is 000000000000000. Which it obviously was not that a day ago but my S pen still works as it should. Let me be a hypocrite but less filler rambling. I'm hurting for this answer as well.
---------- Post added at 04:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:40 AM ----------
If curiosity is your game I was stupid as no other and figured going into binary was the best way to get a new IMEI to a rumored black listed note I got on the low low. Erase EFS 1/2/3 without backing up. I'll take a bow for being stellar. Come to find out after the damage was done. The IMEI was completely clean and I just needed to switch service.

you are a genius.
IT WORKS.
Now I have installed the A10 system and restored the app backup via swiftbackup.
everything seems to work, I hope it will not restart.
if you can give me more advice.
thank you very much.
EDIT :
The phone continues to restart.
I'm thinking it can be Magisk root.
Without applications installed
I went crazy with this problem
You can try with last update C25. I flashed from twrp, and now t'he device works fast and smooth. I have magisk, viper4android installed. T'he only problem us FP, because unlocked BL. You can try with a custom ROM, I have tried phh treble and aosip 10, and works very well, and FP works also. You cqn revert to color os 6.x allways flashing A10 ozip. If with other ROMs hsppens t'he random reboots, then is a hardware problem.
it is a real dilemma because with the clean system, however, the phone has restarted for no obvious reason.
I can't understand what makes the phone restart.
only Magisk could be the cause.
I installed Magic which recommends Jerry. but even with the standard version the problem was always the same
Now I send you a screen so it's better evident.

I am now testing the LINEAGE it happened to me this I removed the SIM card and I installed the costum Rom, I made the various customizations and the phone never locked OR restarted.
I inserted the SIM card in the phone worked perfectly, then having messed up with luckypatcher I had to reinstall the Rom.
So I performed the same procedure with the SIM card inserted in the phone and already at the first start it was unstable with reboots.
Currently I have applied for a change of sim card.
As soon as it arrives I will try to remove the sim card Install from scratch The system is to insert the new SIM card only so I can have the mathematical certainty that it is the SIM card
I hope my experience can help someone

i try lienage os, but now i want return colorOS.
i try flashing A10 colorOS.ozip but color OS Boot Loop (Stuck in Realme Logo)
you have solution? for now flash lineageOS and work well but i want colorOS.
please help me
-First, change twrp. Install orangefox or skyhawk twrp (I am using skyhawk and I can revert from C10 trebled rom to
C26 backup, firsr install C26 ozip, and after first boot, reinstall twrp from fastboot and restore full backup)
-Reboot to twrp
-Flash full Ozip , I recommend C26. Works very well, antutu 501.850, no lags, with viper4android installed. With
lineage 371.056 in antutu
-flash vbmeta
-flash magisk
-format data
-reboot
-Once system boots to system, reboot to fastboot to reinstall twrp (with ozip install, you have stock recovery,
check this booting it, depends of twrp you are using. Orangefox saves twrp, skyhawk no)
I hope it helps
I should follow these steps
1 - flash recovery skyhawk twrp
2 - Reboot to twrp
3 - Flash full Ozip (i prefered pie have Fingerprint work)
4 - flash vbmeta
5 - flash magisk
6 - format data
7 - reboot
I have already done these steps with the (ozip A10 FOR TWRP) but color OS Boot Loop (Stuck in Realme Logo).
do you think that recovery creates this problem?
i now have lineageOS work but want return colorOS
thanks for the support
EDIT:
I have run your advice but unfortunately this device perhaps has a hardware problem.
Whenever it manages to boot, just 30 seconds and restart.
I noticed artifacts when starting the sistama.
I'm really desperate.
what do you advise me to do?
thanks

sorry to tell you but unfortunately this phone has an underlying problem ie the modem hardware is of poor quality.
I have done 1000 tests I have tried everything and more but unfortunately it keeps restarting the user interface when a call comes in or when you try to make a call.
especially when you keep the modem busy for other chores such as navigation with Google Maps or other and you receive a call the phone suffers a stress and this causes a restart.
I have given myself this explanation because it is truly inconceivable that a top-of-the-range phone has these problems.
if you find a solution Let me know.
Thanks so much

Sorry to hear that ? I'm also suspecting that I have hardware problem it only reboots when connecting to LTE mobile data. I already tried using flash tool for a clean flash didnt work though.
I'm still hoping it's a software issue because I can still get LTE signal I just can't use mobile data. I kinda regretted buying this phone. I'm so unlucky I got a defective device. ?
If I find a solution I'll let you know.

Basically these have mounted a modem on this phone which in my opinion is not fully compatible with the Snapdragon.
In fact, the price is really very low if you consider that this is a top-of-the-range Smartphone with a 90 Hertz screen and latest generation processor.
They are practically giving it away now on the official website it costs € 350.

Doesn't seems to work for me Ill try again rechecking the APNs. I also pulled an ADB bug report and sent it to Realme Devs through email they haven't replied yet. When I opened it I saw a few errors like but I couldn't understand it since im not a dev but a run some hardware and sensor diagnostics app and all sensors seems to be working fine. Hi dear
have you tried to update to Version: RMX1931EX_11.C.32.
From the log it would seem that they have solved the problems that happen to us.
I have the phone too full and rooted and I would not like to update to android 10 so I am still stuck on android 9.
Have you updated?
Hi i have a strange problem. I tried searching to no avail. When i turn on WiFi, eventually after some time i loose cell service completely and have an X on the bars. The moment i turn off WiFi the service comes back turn it back on gone again. If i restart the phone everything works perfect but eventually the problem comes right back.
Some facts that i have to mention.
I am rooted with Magisk.
I do have Lsposed Riru
I do have the WiFi and volte fix
Besides that im fully on a stock ROM and stock kernel. I am aware these things might be the cause but i wanted to know if anyone out there experienced such an issue. I am on the T-Mobile network in USA Device about me bow

I
Just am update. If anyone else faves this I THINK I may have fixed it , but will update if its not true. After trying literally everything from apn settings, WiFi settings , going through all my apps, even getting a new sim nothing worked. Then it hit me, this phone has 2 sim slots. I switched from sim tray 1 to sim tray 2. So far its been 3 days without any service loss. I also want to add that vowifi and volte was also cutting out randomly which I noticed after this post and when it cut out even if I still had bars calls and texts wouldn't go through, this was all related it seems because since I switched trays that too hasn't happened. I'll keep you all posted if this changes, but if anyone else faces this problem I would definitely recommend trying to switch sim trays slots.
Just another follow-up, if anyone is following lol. My issue is not fixed as I thought. While changing the sim tray seemed to have momentarily fixed the problem it sadly came back. Although, im not so much as loosing signal as I originally was, but basically both Volte OR VOwifi vanish, and when they do I cant make or receive calls, even with full bars. Data works fine. If I reboot the phone it works again. I found most times if I put it in airplane mode, reconnect wifi, then take off airplane mode it also fixes the issue temporarily fixxes like restarting but this issue ALWAYS returns, and returns randomly. I cant find any trigger or pattern.
my friend, I am facing the same problem and it is on android 12, do you find any solution?

I havent, I am considering it, its just allot of work to backup and restore everything , there is a reason I chose a phone with enormous memory I have unbelievably allot of stuff on it lol. If it was something I knew for sure would fix it I would he more inclined to try , but maybe one day I will. If you happen to try any and it solves it I would really appreciate you letting me know.
