The charging time of the Droid Bionic is painfully slow, I suggest that someone should make a flashable charging modification similar to the one that was created by Chad0989 of IncrediKernel link shown here: http://www.incredikernel.com/wp-con...-monitor/download.php?id=enablefastcharge.zip
Can such modification be implemented for the Droid Bionic at this time?
Please let me know cause I'm really tired of waiting 2-3 Hours for a full charge.
Thanks!
It has to do with a custom kernel...until we see a unlocked bootloader and a dev building a kernel from source...it wont happen
Also, be careful what you wish for, from what I understand, faster charging can negatively impact your long term battery life. No proof of that, but I'm sure I've read that on here before.
On a standard battery I get full charge in less than 2 hours.
Scenario: phone off (on didnt' seem to matter), plugged in using moto included accessories. (charger and usb cable)
On the extended battery I get a full charge in about 5 hours...that one is painful...

Wow... I was getting about 5 hours on regular battery from charge before I rooted. Now that I rooted and installed DroidTh3ory's ROM, my first full day trial I started at 11:30am or so and it is now 6:01pm and I'm looking at 60% battery life without charging it at all today... Talk about improvement.
2 hours or less on extended battery here.

That's absolutely true. 1C is really the Max you want to charge a lithium battery. 1C is one times the capacity.
But the funny thing is, the biggest fastest charger I have found is rated at 1 amp. That's much less than what the battery is capable of. (~1.7a)
So in a nutshell, don't worry about charging your battery too quickly on the Bionic.

Liberty ROM will have a faster charge and better battery life overall from what I'm seeing of the alphas. Should not be too much longer until it's released. Give it a few weeks.
I went from about 20% to 100% on the extended battery in about 2 hours. However I use my iPad's USB adapter to charge it with. I believe its output is 10W instead of the normal 5W from a USB charger. I don't know if that makes any difference for the Bionic at all. I had used the USB adapter it came with originally, and yes it was PAINFULLY slow
It is wicked slow... Would love to see something that could help with that!

Is that IncrediKernal dwnld for DInc?
I can charge my phone from completely dead to 100% in about an hour. Maybe you should consider getting another battery?
You guys who think the Bionic charges slow are crazy! The Charge took around 4.5 hours for a full charge. I'm amazed at how fast this thing charges (2-3 hours) and it's even got a bigger battery.
I am just wondering if any of you have used the Universal Phone Battery Charger such as this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAND-NEW...y_Chargers&hash=item4cfa8ab2cd#ht_3307wt_1033
If so are they safe to use? have they been approved by the ITU.
Thanks.
I've been using a universal charger for about a month. Not that exact model. I wanted to buy it locally and radio shack was the only retailer I could find that sold one. I have no complaints other then my phone is out of commission when charging. Ive had no I'll effects so far. I'm sure its a placebo but my battery life seems a bit better. I usually would get the 99-90% without even touching my phone. I haven't really seen that with the universal.

Any decent custom ROM will allow you to control charging voltage, so it really doesn't matter. I use any charger i can get my hands on most times, and my GS2 charges fine.
Just to let u know mate that 99-90% battery or maybe a bit less is a good thing that your phone is suppose to do because it's not good for your battery to be at full battery or low battery so the phone does it on purpose. I'm using a external charger and mine still does it. They say your suppose to try and keep your battery between 40 and 80% but won't hurt to fully charge it's as long as it not fully charged for to long and you don't want a low battery full to long but you still wanna let your phone fully die every so often and fully recharge as it reconditions battery ( this is what I've read) and if your going to store a device turned off for a long time u only want about 40-60% battery. Jus thought I'd say lol
As far I know they are not safe. These charger reduce the longevity of the battery.
You'd better use the original charger. The universal charger will short the battery life and have bad impact on your phone. Most important of all, they are not safety.

Do you have evidence of this?
I use a universal charger on all my devices and never once had any battery issue with any of them.
i've used a battery charger on a old sony ericsson and it messed up its charge time, now it takes double to charge but it still holds....weird...

I just see some reports talking about we should not using the universal chargers. And also some people said Universal chargers are OK if you are using them on a temporary basis. But using for long term, they may cause more problems than the original one.
I'm not sure if this is hardware related but as of this morning my n6 will not charge beyond 93%
My phone is just over a month old and I'm running a fairly basic cm12 build.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues?
Ok have you gone back to stock just to make sure it isn't rom related?
Install "ampere" from Play. Its the only truly accurate battery / charging monitor I've found.
Essentially the android OS works out what the percentage is based on voltage information supplied by your battery chip. Charge your phone as high as it will go, take it off charge and see what voltage it reads. Compare that voltage to someone else with the app installed when they are at 100%

Almost. Android doesn't have the voltage-percentage table. That is PMIC+firmware.

I believe it is a rom related problem, i have had my n6 for over a month and just last week decided to root, while on stock my battery life was REALLY GREAT and once i installed CM12 I've been having all kinds of issues
it's an early stage of cm12, it'll get better but for now i think i am going back to stock
My battery is slowly dying on me so I decided I will replace it. I found a battery on aliexpress that has a capacity of 3400 mAh and has same size like the original one. Do you think that the capacity is real, or does anybody here have some experiences with these kinds of batteries? The brand name of the battery is "Da Da Xiong" and "HSABAT"
the capacity could be real but our phone has usb-c so the volts, amps are higher than most batteries can handle so you could have problems like heating or a lot of worse... i suggest you to not buy that and figure out how to use this battery better try better kernel gov etc or if you are convicted that you need a new battery the buy the stock

Even with modifying the governor with custom kernel, the battery is pretty much crap.. Maybe it's because of the oreo, because I didn't have any issues on nougat. But thanks for help, I will buy the original battery.

I made a post on Reddit (r/nexus5x) about this battery, someone is going to try it out. If needed I can provide a link, but we will know if the battery performs well in about a month if you want to wait because shipping is 20-40 days

He said something about if you're rooted, you can possibly calibrate your battery. Is there such a method only possible if rooted?
You can also flash stock images (or factory wipe) and batterystats.bin will be removed. I think this file is located in /data/system, but i can be wrong.
I'm on 8.1.0 now and compared with 8.0.0 and 7.1.2 (all ABC-ROMs), I get 20% longer SOT. An alternative to a bigger battery?
Edit, after 2nd charge: round down to 10%

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with using third party batteries for the N950. Specifically batteries with extended capacity. I have seen a handful of these batteries which say they have a 3600mah capacity over the stock battery capacity of 3300mah. They also say that they are Li-Po over the stock Li-Ion.
I cant post the link due to XDA rules but there are batteries available on Amazon under the title :
Galaxy Note 8 Battery ZURUN 3600mAh Li-Polymer Battery
The battery appears to have good ratings and would be a fitting upgrade for a decayed battery. I'm just asking if anybody with experience would recommend these batteries, are they real(in terms of spec), would the higher capacity effect the device negatively? And most importantly are they safe?
Any help would be appreciated!

Although I have no experience with batteries for the Note 8 as of yet, but from previous experience, I would recommend only official batteries. Even if these non official batteries are the correct mah, they will not have the same amount of cycles, so you will probably go through 2 or 3 of these batteries for the life of the official one.

Yeah good point, quite a gamble in the sense of charge cycles. Thanks for the advice!

I have had my Note 8 since the day it came out and I'm still using the same battery and I still get well over 8 hours of usage before I need to recharge it. I only charge it to 90% and I never let it discharge fully it's usually back on the charger whenever it gets near 20%. A friend of mine decided to put a 4,000 mah battery in his Note 8 only to find out that it wouldn't charge to 4,000 and it was dying much much faster than the original battery and it took even longer for it to charge back up so I wouldn't recommend getting aftermarket parts for it.

Huh, as for my device, I got it recently pre owned however the previous owner didn't take anywhere near as much care of my device as it seems your taking care of yours. So the battery capacity is pretty decayed and I've found it hard to get a healthy OEM battery online.
With my current new but unhealthy battery I wouldn't be able to protect it as I would like to by using the charging ranges you do. Tho I do really want to!
So I was thinking a new third party battery could be better than a 'new' oem. But again just another gamble it seems haha.
Thanks a lot for your advice!

Ifixit, who are reputable imo, have a link for the official battery . I would advise skipping Amazon/Ebay for it. Although it is €25, it is worth it. (They also sell all the tools you will need for replacing it and all the steps!
