Not really. My 2nd Gen Moto G still works perfect. While the new features and better specs are nice, I don't think that's enough for me to shell out my hard earned money so fast. Maybe if I can get a deal I will get it, but for now I don't have any plans to do so.
Depends on how much the better of the two variants will cost, I definitely won't be upgrading to the 8GB G 2015, but if the 16GB model is sold here in AU and is reasonably priced, then I might take the plunge.

Some might do it for the upgraded camera. But if I do i'll only do it for the 16GB model with 2GB RAM. Multitasking gets laggy often with 1GB.
In Costco Canada, you can purchase the 3rd gen locked to bell for $200 cad. Of course carriers now have to unlock your device upon request, so this deal is potentially good for other carriers.

I see a lot of interest in the Z1 as the natural upgrade from the XZ but I see no other comments about the Ultra. Is there something I am missing (besides its sub par battery life)
After University finishes in 1 month I wont have a need for my failing Nexus 7, and I read alot of E-books and so I thought the best solution would be to upgrade my XZ to the Ultra. I don't need a tablet but I do like reading e-books on a comfortable screen size. If worse comes to worse I'll just read on my XZ but I am looking to upgrade.
Any potential hazards I'm missing?
I think it's because most people don't like the idea of a 6.4" screen.
I wanted the Z Ultra, but apparently the camera is horrid, and I think it is made from cheaper materials than the Z1.
It's not that it's a bad phone. It's that you can get better.
Sent from The Magical Xperia Z, running TuRdZzROM v2.2.0
Oh right. I never use cameras so even a **** one will do the job. And define cheaper materials ? Like the XZ is pretty solid. Does the XU use plastic.
Does the Z1 have a bigger screen?

I own a galaxy note 2 as well (and love it), but for me that is the maximum size I could deal with..
The z ultra is just too much phone for me. Some people will love it no doubt, but it isn't for me.
Is it a ridiculous decision to exchange moto g for sony xperia SP ??? i like the looks of the SP
delete post...
Not at all! It depends of what you need: if you want a larger screen, a faster CPU (I think that S4 pro dual is faster than S400), if you don't care to have the last android updates like kit kat and you are ready to put the difference of100$ in a xperia,
You've got the shining illumination bar and so on after that my little deception is the weight but I accepted it long time ago

Horrible idea, It's considered a downgrade more than an upgrade. The SP only has a better GPU. Stick with the G for now, if you really like Sony, wait for the Xperia G to come out (a new mid-range phone) I own an SP but I wouldn't recommend buying it now, maybe last year but now, definatly not. Also it weighs a ton which is one of it's bigger flaws.

It is fast, and I like my SP but I would never recommend anyone to buy it now where there are cheaper devices that perform better (moto G)
It is still a dual core after all.
well the dual core krait in the SP is much faster than the moto G and it has better gpu, the camera's are on par, but only because of the terrible software on the xsp, the battery in the sp trumps the G and not to mention the LED strip on the XSP. wait till the xperia G comes out, now thats gonna be one heck of a phone
Get Xperia ZR
Hi guys, i just now can to exchange my xperia sp for nexus5 (need to add 130 euros more) is it worth?
I think that this would be nice? Any suggestion? Thanks anyway!
I would say so but others will disagree the nexus 5 was my first choice but I couldn't afford it.
Programming is a race between engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
If you look at spec and updates I'd say go with N5. But the XSP is also a very good device. Just a bit (very) slow with updates from Sony sometimes

Nexus 5 without any questions
Im changing my SP with locked BL to moto G, if I can spend more money I'll go for an n5.
Never more to sony, only clean android devices like this moto and nexus, and custom rom.
Maybe in couple months I will find some extra money to change phone to n5 or newer (5,5" n6 would be awesome)

Well maybe benchmarks says that SP is better, but software is crap (lag, freezing and slow IO), it would be wonderfull to have unlockable bootloader, but its impossible on my one (orange carrier). I had nexus 7 and it make 18k on antutu after customization, multitasking was great and all creativity, SP got 23,500 but its much slower in multitasking and overall usage.
Package arrived, but I will test new toy after work :good:

Im not buying new device to downgrade software
On N7 multitasking still was lot better than stock 4.1.2 on SP
I strongly advice anyone against buying a Sony device. Slow updates and when you finally get one it's crap... again... I'm so frustrated by the SP, but unfortunately I don't have the money to get another device right now. If you can buy the nexus 5... do it! Otherwise the Moto G is a good option too. I said this before and people started ranting at me because the SP was much better in their opinion, but I've tested the Moto G and I liked it better than the SP. It even had 4.4 long before Sony started rolling out 4.3! And it has less annoying bugs which gives a better overall user experience.
Like binniebin said, you need the software to go with the hardware otherwise the hardware is nothing. If only Sony could make decent firmware :crying:
If you can have a very sexy and beautiful girl with Double D's if that's your thing, but she is stupid as a cow which drives you crazy after a while OR you can have a still very beautiful girl, but with a little smaller (you know what I mean)'s and she'll do almost everything as you want because she is smart(er) and understands you... You'd be better off with the second one eventhough people say she is less hot.
Yet another another anology: You can better have 150 horsepower in a lightweight streamlined car than 200 horsepower in a heavy old scrapheap which has the aerodynamic characteristics of a brick wall because the lightweight will be more fun... But well maybe that's just my opinion....

Better option is to exchange Xperia SP for Nexus 4 and take some cache.
http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=5048&idPhone2=5364
Same resolution, quad core on N4 and 2Gb RAM plus 50€ or more on your pocket.
Plus, you will always have latest available Android and many custom ROMs
You can see for example on ebay.de that Xperia SP is sold in auctions for around 170€
while Nexus 4 you can buy for 120€

Currently Moto X 2013 (Mark it 2013 i plan in 2014) is ongoing stock clearance sell. Being sold without Adapter on Rs. 17999 (300$ Approx.) after that i don't think it would come again then for sell. I should make my decision in 1 week AFAP. My preferred budget is 250$-400$ (15000-25000 Rs.) for smartphone. :cyclops:
For Moto X 2013 Only negative points i think is Old Smartphone, Low Processing Power and Non-expandable memory. :crying: Positive and most liked points are Pure Android, Latest Version, Motorola, Something different than Poor Samsung
I welcome other questions to improve your reply for selection of smartphone. Please be Fast,
Thanks, :victory:
I just got one for my sister on a flash sale discount. I wouldn't say it has low processing power—1.7 Ghz dual-core/Adreno 320/2GB RAM is still on the high end and will run the most resource-intensive apps smoothly for the next 2 years or so. It's only a 720p screen, so as far as 3D games go, better hardware wouldn't do much.
The real downsides are as you said, no expansion slot, and battery life isn't that great either. But even at full price it's great value right now.
Got one for $250 USD brand new. These past few months I've been purchasing "old" phones since the prices have dropped dramatically. Also bought an xperia z ultra $300 brand new. The specs on phones have finally reached the point to where even year old phones are still a good buy and can still hang with current flagship's.

Hello everyone, I'm currently using Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini, and about to buy a new mobile, I'm not looking for superb high end devices, so I was going with the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact, but after reading more about the glass breaking issue, I wanted to review more options, so I found this one, Motorola Moto X 2014 (2nd generation). All I need is to hear your opinions as users, any issues? Is there a better option for almost the same price? Any comment is appreciated.

The moto x is a high end device. There are some good deals on it and the price has come way down. If you want to save money look at the moto g. It's probably the best bang for your buck.

I meant by superb high end devices those very new ones, Galaxy S6, iPhone 6, HTC One M9, etc..
Moto X 2014 is very good for me as specifications, as well as the price. Regarding the Moto G, it's kinda close to the S3 Mini (as far as I remember).
Do you think it is worth waiting for the 2015 version? Not to buy it, but for a price cut for the 2014 one.

It's already cut. Have you been to the moto maker page? Originally it was 550-600. You can get it for 399 until the 12th. The m9, g4, and s6 have better hardware. They're also newer. I would put the iPhone 6 the s5 the moto x the m8 and g3 in the same boat. You said you were looking at compact phones. That's why I listed the moto g. There's a big size difference in the z3 compact and the moto x.
Can you link me to the page you are talking about?
Well, I'm looking for a small sized mobile, but with high specs, I'm not demanding latest hardware, but some high ones, so the Xperia Z3 Compact was my perfect device until that glass issue. I really dislike the trend of making those large screens and even getting larger and larger.

It's in my list. Though, I have a concern on its battery. For example, GSM Arena's battery endurance rating is 38 for Nexus 5, 42 for Galaxy S3 Mini, 48 for Moto X 2014, while Z3 Compact is 101! Of course they may not be perfect or whatsoever, but it gives an indication.
You may say okay, your main request or feature is a compact device, but 5" and 5.2" are not that much far, are they?
