I just got my Nexus 6 yesterday and love it, but i REALLY hate how some of the volume controls works.
I can't figure out a way to stop the sound from playing when I put my phone on the wireless charger at night. how can i do this with the volume settings?
i can't even see a way to do it with an xposed module
any help is appreciated.

Not sure. The fix has been mentioned here somewhere before. My guess would have to disable that .ogg file by renaming (add bak to end). That would also require root as I believe it is in system/media.
Removing the ogg won't help. You have to replace it with a silent ogg of the same name.
Edit, here's mine...

Where can I find a stock Gingerbread ROM at? When I purchased my phone it already had ICS on it, and honestly I do not like it at all. I jumped to my favorite phone mod site (XDA) and did some searching but came up empty handed. Can anyone assist me with my request? Thanks!

Sorry. There are not any GB ROMs for the D4 that will work on ICS. The GB D4 ROMs there are are not compatible with the ICS kernel. Maybe if you can describe the issues you are having with ICS we can help you with those.

Mainly just nitpicking things, but the one thing I've had an issue with ICS is the fact that I cannot link notification and ringer volumes together.
Another issue I'm having is when typing using the hardware keyboard, I'll be typing something and the cursor will
jump and start typing at the beginning. Happened just as I was typing this reply, too.

That is odd stock ICS does not have the functionality to link notification and ringer volume. You should be able to find an app on the market that will give you this functionality. Found this on another forum with a quick google search: "Get cvolume from the market. Under settings you need to check notification volume not(Use incoming call volume for notifications). Works great" aarong03 - DroidForums
There are other volume control apps out there as well that may have similar functions. Try some out and let us know!
Not sure about the cursor jumping on you. It seems like I had this problem once too and it ended up being something I was doing that was causing it but I cannot think for the life of me what it was. Some button I was hitting or something.

Thanks for the information. I have tried many volume apps that claim to link the volumes together, but do not work. I basically just want to use my hardware volume buttons as a master volume control, so when I set it with the hardware buttons, nothing is higher. or lower than that volume. I had a Samsung captivate glide on att that was running GB and the app that I used on that phone did not work on my D4 for linking volume. I tried this cvolume app and it doesn't seem to be working either, even though the option to link them is set.

I've been using AudioGuru for profile selection, but I would much rather be able to dynamically change the volume of notifications and ringer together from the hardware buttons instead of set profiles with defined volume levels at each.
I have not found an app yet that works on this phone/ICS that works to lock both volumes together.
Perhaps I will just have to wait until JB is officially released for our phones. But I really liked GB on my previous phone, its too bad I can't get a ROM to work from ICS to GB, considering that the phone was originally released with GB.
Another thing I don't like about ICS is the stock messaging only let's you save a maximum of 1000 messages per contact. I would prefer messages never get automatically deleted, and in ICS it cannot be disabled, you can only change the max number of kept messages.
If you attempt to downgrade the phone to official GB there is a very high risk of bricking the phone.
I'd recommend you stop trying to do this and instead try to either get used to ICS or to replace the bits you don't like with some 3rd party apps.
I'm always having that cursor problem with the keyboard. Happens whenever I open up the keyboard and immediately start typing. Wait a second or two before typing, and it's usually ok. Seems the input editor is too slow to initialize itself, so it's still trying to set the cursor to column zero by the time you start typing...

There is no risk in downgrading to GB via SBF. No risk, because you will most certainly B R I C K your phone. So learn to live with it.
I too have some issues with ICS. The cursor jump happens to me too, and I hate it. I also have issues with BT volume control. Music is no problem, but controlling Youtube volume does not work for me. And when docked (lapdock or plain HDMI cable) volume also doesn't work. On or off, nothing in between.
But still, I think ICS runs much smoother than GB.

Yes you can (maybe) bring your phone back to life, but one thing that will definitely not happen is that Gingerbread ROM actually booting. The locked bootloader does not allow you to downgrade.
Do not even bother trying to downgrade it will waste your time and you may end up with a brick.

At least I know I am not the only one with the cursor jump issue. And yes, I notice it only happens to me when I open the keyboard and immediately start typing. I will have to start being patient and give it a few seconds before typing.
I've tried many different Volume apps, and even when locking volume settings are enabled, the volumes are not locked when I adjust it with the hardware volume rocker.
I did read that JB will be getting an official push to the D4, but they have not said when. ICS just doesn't set too well with me for some reason. Yes, it runs pretty smooth, but I don't like it's all black theme, some functionality that was left out, and the new widget being part of the app list doesn't always show new widgets immediately. I guess my biggest upset about it is that it seems rather... buggy or undeveloped. To me, GB seemed to be more developed and work the way you would come to expect an android OS to run now days, and ICS just isnt there yet. Hopefully JB will be better...

unless you borked your bootloader or had a hardware failure niko is right there is no way to hard brick your phone just by flashing roms/sbf's
as long as your bootloader is intact you are able to recover your device
All that said, there's no reason someone couldn't get a vanilla AOSP GB build working with the ICS kernel for use with safestrap. On the XDAndroid project we had a single Linux 3.5 kernel working for Froyo, GB, and ICS. It's not a slamdunk, but the amount of patching required isn't that bad.

Screen starts to "touch himself" I just look at it and he starts to get in menus, opening pictures, closing apps, opening new ones... I just lock screen for 10 secs and than everything is fine for few minutes. Than same thing again. This happens with every ROM and every karnel I try til now. Works fine only with stock. I'm now on Beanstalk 4.4 and iodak 9.95. Thanks!!!

Its a weird issue, are you sure it works fine on stock? because it sounds like a digitizer issue to me (rather than software, since the rest of us dont have this issue)
im not sure where to begin lol, can you pull some logs? (dmesg and logcat)
Oh.. and I guessed it was only me.
I have this problem too, works fine with stock but it goes crazy with custom rom.
Any idea ?

No worries, nothing out of the ordinary in the logs, its looking more like hardware(hopefully im wrong). It might be worth testing a stock rom under the same conditions again, if there is no issue, then theres something weird going on. btw 50c is fine temp for cpu, around 75c is the limit.
Can you get a screen recording of it? (most 4.4 based roms have this functionality built in) this could be helpful also https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ds.cpuoverlay

So about a week ago I thought that any headphones that were in my nexus 6 were all too quiet so I searched online how to boost audio and I found a thread about changing mixer paths so I did and it worked great but I think I had put the number too high and it caused a fuzzy sound while the volume was low and I didn't like it so I tried changing it back then I just changed the numbers and rebooted and I get no audio anything with audio doesn't even play , is in YouTube the videos won't play and it states that there was an error also Snapchat videos are just black and nothing plays. In the General Forum, the Sticky Roll-Up thread. There's a guide you can follow. Hopefully, your bootloader is already unlocked. You will need to use fastboot. I don't recommend toolkits.
When I call someone on 7.1.1 (Lineage), when they talk they can hear themselves as they talk like a perfect echo. I also noticed that when I make a call, the ringer sound has a bunch of static and almost sounds like it's dropping out until the person answers. There was a patch on January 23rd meant to fix the big "speakerphone echo" bug but I keep reading stuff that makes it sound like this bug was related to actually using the phone in speaker mode during a call, so you don't have to hold it to your ear. The issue I'm having happens during a normal call.
I'm on the latest official Lineage nightly and this issue still exists, even though it was supposedly fixed (unless I'm understanding what people are talking about wrong). It's incredibly annoying and I've even confirmed that the lines in "mixer_paths.xml" that needed to added were there and they are. Does anyone else have this issue or know a work around?

I'm not on lineage, I'm on stock lite and I've noticed the same thing after flashing coolexe's pixel mod after updating the ROM, which I usually do all in one session. What I've found is that something is leaving a file called ftm.mixer_paths.default.xml in system/etc. It has the right run permissions so I think it's defaulting to that regardless of what mixer_path file I've replaced. If I delete that default file, everything sounds/works like it should.

Only other thing I can suggest is to grab an older ROM.zip, extract the mixer_paths.XML, and copy that into system/etc. Set permissions to 0644, reboot and check it.
Even if you can get a cm 14.1 ROM zip.from December, that should work.

Did this fix work?
After the latest update from alcatel, the boom key stopped boosting sound... It still activates everything else but the sound boost effect. I already did a factory reset and nothing changes. Anyone else having the same problem? This is one of my favourite features in the Idol 4s so i would apreciate some help please! Thanks in advance.
yep, it seems its enabled by default, because I never used it in games, kind of distorts the sound and it happens now even with maxaudio off
I also didn't use the boom key for music, only videos or movies but it does nothing to the soundboost... It stopped working after the update and now its gone for good... No one managed to explain what the hell happened, neither alcatel nor some fellow idol 4s user. Still hopeful though
Same problems here!
Yeah. No sound boost and it seems like the speakers just aren't as loud anymore. I didn't like using it for music, but it was great for enhancing the volume of speech in movies and YouTube. I wonder why they removed it :/

Posting in an old thread but oh well.
There is a way to fix the sound boost, however, it requires factory resetting your device. I've had to do this a few times and it's fixed it every time.
They didn't remove the feature in an update, it's simply a bug I believe. It seems to happens when I hard boot my phone while the boom sound is on, which upon restarting, it boots with the boosted sound stuck on with no way of turning it off or on.
If there were a way to get into the files, it'd be best to figure out where the sound boost files are being hosted, and then either deleteing them (in hopes that they auto reinstall), or force stopping the program (sort of like rebooting the program that hosts the boom feature altogether).
I hope some one can come along and fix this bug that doesn't require a factory reset.
Thanks ?
