Is there anywhere in the US to buy an unlocked note 5?
Best Buy will be selling the unlocked models but their prices are pretty high.

When Worst Buy states "Unlocked" what does that specifically mean ? To me unlocked = Nexus type freedom, as in unlocked bootloader and freedom to root with ease.
I hope BB doesn't mean unlocked as in SIM card and network only. Because noways that's totally legal for all phones to be unlocked per the U.S Govt. law this year. That should not even be listed as special feature nowadays.

When I went to Best Buy, they had the unlocked stickers on the edge of the table. There was about a $50+ markup on the unlocked models over the carrier ones. According to the Samsung rep, Best Buy is trying to bring more unlocked (Samsung) phones in their stores. The S6 Edge+ 64GB for example was $919.99

I went to best buy today in Milwaukee and spoke with someone from best buy as well as the samsung rep - both said that they did not offer an unlocked phone - and said they were not aware of any best offering unlocked phones. Had to choose a carrier when you bought the phone - I think I saw that you are in HOUSTON ? Maybe that is a test market or something? It aint happening here - (though I really wish it was - I would much prefer buying an unlocked phone that i could use anywhere.

We actually end up having a lot of "test market" experiences here so I wouldn't put it past it. I never actually considered that being the case as most of the Best Buy stores here in Houston contain a fairly large number of unlocked phones. I was actually surprised to see the unlocked S6 edge+ stickers all over the area. They weren't pushing it but they said it is something they offer.

So I was out to buy the Note 4 and I wanted to try the Exynos variant because I've always purchased the Snapdragon variants. I figured because the Exynos Note 4 finally supported LTE in the US and the fact that it was using a next generation SoC made it a natural decision for me to finally convert... BUT when purchasing, I looked into Expansys for getting the phone. They specifically advertised the SM-N910U on their website of the phone. I spent nearly $1,000 and purchased next day delivery. To my horror, I found that the model number was SM-N910H, which supports no LTE and will likely have the least support of the Exynos variants. I'm so livid. I don't think I'm going to buy internationally anymore, I don't trust these vendors. :crying:
Thats is really not good. Can you return to them the unit?
Sent from my SM-N910U using Tapatalk
Expansys sent me an opened phone before so I'll never buy another phone from them. And they're not authorized to sell anything even though they advertise manufacturer's warranties.
Just for future reference, what are more reputable sellers to look at?
Exapansys are very very bad. I have rarely heard good things about them. Apparently they are also a nightmare to deal with for returns or warranty issues. Although I haven't used them yet, but I heard tons of good things about Clove. www.clove.co.uk
I will most probably buy the Galaxy Gear S from them soon.

It will be locked which is why ive been recommending people buy the exynos version.
We went through this on the s7 (CAN version was exynos) note 7, s8...all NA versions which are snapdragons are BL locked.

yea if you want a note 8 get an exynos version not a snapdragon which is what tmo and all the other carriers will be selling. like the s8... in us its the sm-g955u sometimes there will be additional letters like a T (t-mobile). The U stands for carrier unlocked or unlockable dont confuse that with bootloader unlockable. There are also sm-g955f which is what the rest of the world has. The F stands for international. They are where the partys gonna be. Their "unlocked" any sim will work, but the bootloader will be unlockable so we will have custom rom developement

I already purchased a pre-order on Ebay - you pay a little more when you buy pre orders (maybe a lot more - depends on how you look at it) but I am not good about waiting. My PHone is supposed to ship around the 20th - 23rd of september - possibly sooner but don't knwo for sure.
Varient for International Versions is N950F (someone mentioned G955F but that is the Galaxy S8 Plus.
I am excited - can't wait to get it in my hands....

Where are you seeing the N950F? I'm not finding any on eBay, Amazon, or any other site for sale in USD. Also, is this European variant the only model that will have an unlockable bootloader?
Will the N950F have all bands/frequencies for US carriers? From what I found at https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-sm-n950-model-number-differences, it looks like it has almost all compared to the N950A, but there are a few that are missing. Thanks

Man, that's a lot to drop up front. Though I presume if you sell in a year, you would typically get 30-50% back if it's the INTL version....
Still debating on how to go about this one.
I try to sell the phone I own for as much as I can. I believe I can probably get around $650 to $700 for the S8 Plus G955F I own now - it is in like new condition - not a scratch - I also will include several screen protectors and cases. that I was given that I will also include to add value and to help sell it quickly)

Hey all, never-msrp had the black note 8 950fd for 849.99 64gb on ebay for like 1 hour before he sold out.
I'm itching for a unlocked bootloader and pixel 2 xl 128gb after taxes is over 1k! no sense in justifying that.
So i'm returning my t-mo note 8 when i buy the unlocked exynos ones, but i don't know who are trusted sources on ebay or elsewhere for this. Since never msrp is sold out and he has no idea when he's getting more can y'all source me to where to go?

wait it's 947 on clove , (exclusion of VAT) , so here's the thing this popped up when i began filling out order
"Samsung’s region lock stops use of this handset within your chosen country unless activated with a European SIM. I agree for Clove Technology to break the seal on the box, activate the phone and remove the region lock by completing a 5 minute call on the handset."
found that interesting-

Yeah the UK phones have regional lock. They'll activate it by the method listed. If you decline, you won't be able to make calls outside the countries listed for the phone.
I got mine from Clove and couldn't be happier. They break the seal & unlock it but I couldn't tell except for seeing the broken seal. They reset it so setup is exactly like with a new phone, I couldn't even fine a single fingerprint or smudge on it. I upgraded to DHL shipping, was shipped on a Friday, I received it on Monday.
With all the crap going on with OEM unlock missing/disappear, lowest price was not a concern for me. And really I didn't pay very much more than if I were to get a SD version from my carrier or Samsung.

You can however flash the F firmware on your N & install the mod if you don't want to wait. He's been working hard at it & I'm sure he'll figure it out soon. Just wondering if people considering buying from never-msrp or those that have bought from them realize they do not offer any warranty on their devices? Literally zilch and not even the manufacturers warranty is apparently honored?
Further, contacted them 6 days ago with couple of questions and no response. Sent a follow up couple of days ago and still no response.
So apart from price wondering if I am missing something here..... They dont honor manufacturers warranty, they dont offer any warranty (unless you buy extra from 3rd party) and they apparently can't be bothered to even reply so they can take my money...Wondering what they would be like then if something goes wrong
Is there anyone else people recommend with similar pricing but honors warranty and has good customer service?
I am after the 64gb dual sim SM-N950F/DS and they are selling it for $820 delivered.
Manufacturers typically don't give warranty for grey market devices. Or more accurately, they will only honor the warranty in the market the device was made for, so if you buy a Korean phone, Samsung USA won't honor the warranty but you can still get warranty on it if you send it back to Korea.

Right. Except I read never-msrp will not do that and will have nothing further to do with the process once you have bought it unlike some other sellers that will deal with Samsung in their region to honor warranty for you and ship replacement back to you and so on. Never-msrp hasn't even bothered to respond yet...
In one case, if true, the customer had a Sony phone and Sony USA wouldnt honor the warranty and Sony HK upon being presented the device and ebay/paypal purchase receipt wouldnt honor the warranty either claiming that it was sold overseas and warranty is no longer valid (of course that isn't Samsung so not sure what Samsung might pull especially since you wouldn't have any support from never-msrp or their original purchase receipt...)
Warranty is a concern when you are spending near $1000 or more...
OP, you don't want to buy from that seller anyway. That variant has the OEM unlock time released cancer.

What do you mean by OEM unlock time released cancer? Don't they all take 7 days past activation and usage for the OEM UNLOCK to show up?
Then who apart from Clove is good? Still clarifying with qd_us if theirs shows OEM UNLOCK or not (last response was their's are Taiwan SM-N950F/DS, region free and no one has reported any issues yet).
And one thing I do not get is why don't people flash the XSG firmware on to their SM-N950F/DS (or for that matter the EU firmware or something else)? XSG apparently is confirmed to work and shows OEM UNLOCK and allows Samsung Pay functionality.

Factor in the DHL shipping and it works out to $950. This is one big mess. Korean version no issues, EU version no issues if activated in EU first and 5 min call is made, HK/CN version apparently might work, UAE version apparently ok, the U version apparently locked down junk, the SG/TW sourced versions may or may not work (at least TW from never-msrp may not work)....

ATT sucks in AZ anyway lol
I've purchased a Galaxy Tab Pro and a S from them before. Devices were both brand new and had no issues so I'm not certain as of the warranty service. But I do believe they offer a limited 30 day warranty or something if the product malfunctions. Like the posters above said, the manufacturer warranty is usually covered by the country the product is shipped from. They sell mostly international variants so it makes sense.

Yeah, they are **** heads. I remember about 7 months ago contacting them vis eBay in respect of buying a Samsung tab s2, their response was sub par at best. I ended up buying it from someone else.

I bought a Note 8 from Never MSRP. So far it seems to be good but I was little worried since the "security seal" on the box is the old white style found on S4 or S5 plus the Ink quality on the security label looked pretty shabby. The colour of the black fades. When I turned the phone on it loaded right away to a loaded phone screen which might also indicate that it wasn't factory sealed. Normally you would have to go through all the initial settings like language and what not first, am I right here ?
So other then that, it does seem like its a legit note 8 as far as performance goes. I am slightly worried that its a really really good fake but everything works so far and I'm using a T mobile sim.
It is a mystery to me as to how this unscrupulous ebay seller never msrp has a 99% favorable rating. I purchased a galaxy s8 plus, and when it arrived I noticed the ebay listing stated there was an adapter included. This aroused my suspicion that this was an international version, with no manufacturer's warranty. Amazon sellers clearly indicate when items are international version/no u.s. warranty. Not sure why ebay does not demand this kind of transparency. I returned the phone in an unopened box, and in addition to shelling out $10 in return shipping fees, I had to wait 8 days for a refund. Stay far away from this seller, awful experience
I got mine from amazon for 700ish from my company. It comes with no warranty either but I'm not worried about it. I'd go for the pixel 2 xl instead of the note 8. It's def not worth 850 of your hard earned money. If it was 600ish sure.
Bought the Samsung SM-N950U for $649.99 at Amazon today. 300 bucks combined savings, incl. $100 amazon prime membership.
The note 8 from never MSRP is going for 539.99. I bought an S8+ from them a year ago and tempted to get the note. Is it silly to upgrade from s8+ knowing the 2 phones are almost similar?

I chatted with a rep about exchanging the s8 snapdragon for an s9 exynos, the guy told me not to worry about the differences, and would not reassure me of being able to choose the exynos over the snapdragon...
I ended the conversation early.

that's impossible lol 2 complete different phones, a generation apart. no company would outright let you swap phones like that for free.

Usually, T-Mobile has BOGO(buy one get one free) after a month or two after release.
The best way to get the Exynos version (G960F/D) is on eBay. $779 so far.

Did you know someone getting it and have OEM Unlock present?
Interesting how fast the price is dropping in EU.
Can already find the S9+ for ~€800. It launched at €950.
I say give it another 3-4 weeks and it'll be under €700.
Also, can be had for $820 on US Ebay - S9+ dual sim exynos.
Price is falling WAY quicker than the S8 and S8+, both due to slower sales and incoming competition that should be fierce.

Yes, bought one from different vendor, G960F/DS (although the buid prop shows G960F) No OEM and i have to wait for a week to check. Half of the eBay are floating with G9600 which are clearly snap variants of HK.

That snap will likely have an unlocked BL but they never get any love from developers.
Exynos is still the way to go despite the OEM wait, hopefully the patch made by Dr Ketan works on oreo.
Im still hunting for a grey 128gb exynos, damn hard to find.

Are you retarded? That's a G9600 not G960F/D. And it specifically says snapdragon in the description

The seller has changed the auction.
By the way, there is an other auction for the G960FD of the same seller, cheaper than the older: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Ga...hash=item2ccf8de5af:m:mbvbdxe9xu7qACti4DYrOjw
I see no reason to offend me.
