Is there somewhere to find the latest USA basebands?
Flash with the US firmware?
Or maybe someone else can help with this - there is a "hidden menu" that allows you to choose which frequencies you want to optimise for:

In the service menu
I'm really looking to help resolve the signal issues on this device. Commonly noted on the forums and stuff is that this device doesn't hold onto a signal nearly as good as other phones

Hi,
Hoping someone can shed some light on this odd problem I have. I'm on EE in the UK which is at moment our only 4g provider. I smashed my old S3 LTE screen so my girlfriend (Who is on 02) upgraded early to an xperia z, which we were assured is 4g compatible. We had to unlock the phone to work on my network of course.
However, after unlocking I don't have the option to change to 4G in the network menu.
I've checked the following:
The phone is the C6603 model, which I double checked supported the bands and frequencies used by EE
I receive 4g in my area (Used to with old phone)
I checked with 02 that the phone was 4G compatible
However I'm guessing it's been turned off in the software that 03 loaded to customize the phone. I can't for the life of me find any info on the internet on how this is done or reversed, and I'm a little hesitant to flash the ROM as I would be murdered should I brick the thing.
Any ideas? Anything appreciated.
I flashed the Spanish 4.2.2 ftf file onto my UK 3 Z.
That gives me the option to use LTE networks. You might have to do something similar to get yours to pick up a LTE signal.
Did you say the phone was from O2?
Its also a piece of piss to flash ftf files. You don't even have to root or unlock the bootloader.

Yeah, phone was got from 02. I suspected that there's something loaded with the bloatware... Hm, so I guess I need to try flashing and risking the wrath of the girlfriend should it go up the swanny..
Dial *#*#4636#*#* and in phone information there is an option to change to lte,try it.

Now this is odd, I had the option when I went in there... But it flicks straight back to WCMDA Preferred. I also just rooted it.. so I'm confused now.
So better to do what warface suggest.

Sorry guys, but after searching I got pretty confused because there's mix answers. I know out of the box H+ and LTE is not compatible. However, I read something about flashing other models baseband and such to activate the required bands. Sounds questionable, but I'm about to get it soon, I just want a direct answer.
TIA

I have had trouble getting any of the roms here going on my phone. Coming from a long line of evos and galaxy's I am no stranger to rooting and modifying. What the hell, at least I am rooted and Happy with the nova launcher, almost good as a Rom.
Now I see kit kat is out for locked bootloader phones. Is there anyone that doesn't mind running down how to upgrade a c6606 phone without any surprises?

As far as exact process I would be interested in that too.
As for availability, either grab the ftf fir your region or wait for a rooted flashable Rom.
As far as the rest goes, t mo has been pushing app updates so we may get something.

I'm also curious, if I follow the directions in either of those threads will T-mobile LTE still work? That's the only problem I could see occurring since the c6603 and c6606 are almost identical aside from the radio bands. If anyone has already tried it please let us know, thanks.
It should work. I just flashed 4.4 earlier today on my c6606. Works fine. No longer says 4G but instead says H+. If anything you can keep the TMo baseband when you flash the kernel.

Go to settings>more>network mode select lte option.
it will display the relevant logo where you have 4g coverage
think you have wcdma option enabled
I did that as soon as I flashed the ROM. I have LTE set as preferred. I get either R for roaming, 2G, 3G or H+.

H+ is HSPA+ not 4G
Guess the place you are residing has 4G signal issues
Correct, the signal here is kinda funny. I get 4G but not 4G LTE here.

I ended up installing the update coming from the latest T-mobile firmware and excluding the baseband when flashing the tft file. Everything seems to be fine for me, I still get LTE speed only now the icon shows up as "4g" rather than "LTE" but that's fine. Out of curiosity does anyone here use the T-mobile Isis app and if so do you know how I can get it to recognize the phone as the T-mobile variant thus allowing me to use the app? I've tried replacing all instances of "c6603" with "c6606" in the build.prop to make it match the what was there in the original firmware, but I've had no luck.
What do you all used to see what LTE bands your using?
I have searched but would like to get an idea what would be best.

Hello all,
I am trying to find the testing menu on the T-Mobile Galaxy S6. My AT&T S6 has the menu available to access by entering the code *#*#4636#*#*. Does anybody know of a similar code to find the same menu on the TMO variant?
Thanks for reading!

Thanks, but *#0011# does not bring up a menu. It does display useful info, but I need *#4636*#*# which does not seem to work on the TMO variant. It does work on AT&T, but I need info from the TMO network
Ok so service mode is the one you need. *#2263#

Another useful menu, but still not what I am looking for
The menu I am looking for is the Testing menu. It has these options on the ATT model:
Device Information
Battery Information
Usage Statistics
WiFi Information.
Under Device Info, it gives a button labeled "RUN PING TEST". This is what I am trying to find in the TMO model. I'm trying to incorporate this into a document that I am writing.
As I compare the two side by side, I notice they both shipped with Android 5.0.2, but the baseband versions are different:
ATT - G920AUCU2AOF3
TMO - G920TUVU1AOCG
I'm guessing the different baseband versions are the reason my menu options are different ??
Does anyone happen to know of any work-around, or do I have to accept that it is not available?
Each carrier can use their own codes. It is possible the menu you need is not available. I think there is a full service menu. This might be what you need. The one you enter when you want to unlock some phones.

I know this is old but what you are looking for is *#0011# once there click more in upper right corner WiFi option at bottom of menu
