For update failures, please post in the "Update Failures" thread rather than creating your own thread, it both A: makes you more likely to get a fix and B: keeps the forums tidier

I've seen one or two threads that were in the same vein as this, but no clear resolution. Every time I open SuperSU, I get the message, "The SU binary needs to be updated. Continue?" I select "Continue," and am given the message to install it normally or through TWRP/CWM. If I try through TWRP, the phone restarts into TWRP, but does nothing. If I select "Normal," I get the "Installation failed!" message. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling SuperSU, but that didn't do anything.
In a related problem, I only have root access pretty much immediately after I reboot. Only immediately after I restart the phone can I use apps like WiFi Tether or Titanium.
I'm on stock, rooted 4.1.2. Any help would be great, thanks!

Thanks for responding! Just to clarify, should I follow that readme file’s instructions, even though I’m already rooted and have TWRP? If simply choose “install” in TWRP and select this zip, will I have the option to just install SuperSU, or should I extract one of the following 3 zips in that file first?
SuperSU-v1.41.zip
superuser.zip
Superuser-3.2-RC3-arm-signed.zip
I assume this won’t wipe my phone, but of course, I’ll do a nandroid backup first.
Well, I went into TWRP, went to "install," and selected the whole .zip, but it didn't look like it was going to give me the option to flash just SuperSU.
Agh... I should do this stuff more often so I'm not so clueless each time I need to do stuff in recovery...
SOLVED!
I figured I just needed one of those SuperSU zips found in the file linked above, but first, I decided to first see if there was a more up-to-date version. I wound up downloading the updated version from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053
After flashing "UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.41.zip" in TWRP, my root access is much more robust (i.e., not losing root after one app successfully requests access) and I am no longer being prompted to update my binaries!
Thanks again!

Glad U got it working. I on the other hand am hosed. I wish the thing worked like everything else. I consider this to be a near
fatal weakness with the product. I at this point won't update until I get a clear understanding of what the heck is up with it.
Also Kyocera does not seem to be well supported. I got a Kyocera Hydro from a family member who was going to throw it
away. Guess I should have let him

not updating
Hi, I'm here about SuperSU not updating, but I have a normal rom, not TWRP or thecother one. Every time I go on SuperSU, it tells me there's an update. I click continue, then Normal, because that's the rom I have, but then it says the update failed. What do I do? Please help!

TWRP is a recovery not a ROM. If Normal doesn't work, select the other one. Assuming you have a custom recovery (I recommend TWRP for this phone), it should restart into recovery and flash the update there.
Hello, im new here and if you can please answer me on German
My problem is when i start to update SuperSU Binary it is failing on Normal mode and TWRP is happening nothing.
When i rooted first everything was glad, but there was no button to update the Binary and when i used apps like Xmodgames it says, my root is maybe no succesfull, so i rooted again without deinstalling the SuperSU blabla. my samsung galaxy s duos 2 is not updating binary in any modes
what should i do please help me
Is there any other way to update the binary other than through TWRP or CWM. I can't for the life of me find a CWM or TWRP recovery for my Hannspree Titan.
Hey guys, I have a problem here...
I had rooted my tablet and installed SuperSU, I choose the normal mode for binary update but it said it failed. Then I tried in TWRP/CWM but it just restarted my tablet and there it stayed.
When I power it on, it just keeps restarting every 5-7 seconds and it doesn't do anything else.
What should I do?
I have updated my butterfly s in official OTA and i want to root my phone now.
However i cant find any method to root while it is in 4.3

First, make sure you have a custom recovery installed (TWRP or CWM). Then download the latest supersu flashable ZIP from http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu, put it on your SD card and install via TWRP/CWM. That's it.
cant

Check if your downloading the ROM designated to Galaxy mini, if yes and still ur getting the error then try this it will work fine....
- goto system folder from Rom zip file and in that open this file " Build.prop" from notepad++ or see if it works using normal notepad after that
- delete the lines which starts from assert...... and save and zip it back and try flashing the ROM again.
Please try this and also HIT thanks if it helped :good: :fingers-crossed:

I can only uninstall the update of supersu in the playstore : a old version from supersu stays installed.
So I've delete the update, and I've done the update of supersu ... root was OK.
BUT same problem after reboot ...
SuperSU says "no binary SU installed ...".
Shut down and pull the battery for 10 mins, then repeat.
It will occasionally do this but just repeat the process or avoid shutting down the phone once you have root.

OK. I hope the process will work ...
If not I would flash a pre-rooted 4.3 stock ROM but I didnt' find one. Do you have a link for this ?

Noob friendly explanation for rooting i9305 with CF auto root
warranty will be void hereby. steps to root the phone in this order:
* download Odin3 v3.09 here, right click and ''open as administrator'' on your pc
* download CF auto root for i9305 here and unzip it to get the CF auto root .tar md5 file
* in Odin, in the option section you should check the boxes of auto reboot / F. reset time and uncheck re-partition!!
* enable usb debugging in your device in developer options, if you dont see developer options, go to ''about phone'' and tap the buildnumber 7 times and developer options should be visible now (this part is not strictly necessary, just in case if your device is not recognized by pc or odin)
* turn off device now, and put it in odin downloadmode by pressing and holding VOLUME DOWN - HOME - POWER buttons at the same time till you see the ''samsung galaxy sIII GT-i9305'' text, then you let go the buttons and it will boot into downloadmode
* in odin, click AP button and select the CF auto root .tar md5 file that you have extracted earlier
* now connect your i9305 to pc with usb cable (in odin under message box, it should say added!)
* now your ready to hit START button, after finished your device will reboot and will be rooted There is a chance that after reboot some message like ''supersu has stopped'' will popup, DONT worry read further...
after you have rooted the device, there will be a app called ''SuperSU''. but its a older version of the app and its ''SU binary'' needs to be updated. go to playstore and under my apps search for supersu, it should state that it needs to be updated, do that and restart your phone
configure the settings of supersu after the reboot as you like.
for deleting or freezing some apps, download Titanium Backup app (pro version recommended for optimal usage) from playstore. open it and supersu will ask you for permission, grand it and your ready to delete or to freeze apps.

I had done this all.
I will try it again and post what hapens.
Your version of CF-Auto-root is different (not the same size as) ; so it will perhaps work better.
Thanks
I've done all the " friendly explanation for rooting"
After first auto reboot, Root checker says OK and superSU asks to update but says "problem with update" and ask to reboot.
After second reboot, Root checker says no root ... and SU too ...
What should I do ?

I've unpluged the battery as you said below.
I've uninstalled SuperSU BUT a old version stays installed (how to uninstall all ???).
I've updated (I can only update or open because the old version is always in the phone).
I've rebooted.
Always same message from SuperSU : no root binary installed ...
EDIT : 10h44
After trying your solution one more time again, root returns
THANK YOU !!!
Should I now flash my ROM with Odin Mobile and pre-root option ? Would this fix the problem ???
Or do something else to fix the problem ?
Or install SuperSU in /system as proposed in SuperSU ?
I would leave well alone, knox is a real pain and I wish I had left mine on 4.12 still that's the problem of early adopting...
Same for me : I was under 4.1.2 but after brick and warranty he came back with 4.3
Since this is related to flashing...
Why everytime we wipe data the sdcard0 gets wiped???
I mean, in other phones (oh, my old S Advance!!) I could keep a backup of 4.3 and another of 4.1...
And it feels like I can't keep a backup of them in the sdcard0 since it gets wiped with every system that I need to install (even zip ones!!!)

I rooted with Kingroot.
I used MrW0lf's method of replacing Kinguser with SuperSU.
I made a back up so I could keep the root my system just the way it was after rooting and installing SuperSU and booted with the newly made back up.
I lost root.
I rooted again just as stated above.
I tried uninstalling SU and reinstalling it then re-boot like suggested and lost root anyway.
How can I root and keep root with SuperSU after any reboot or boot ?
Is it possible?

So, I guess I am the only one in the whole forum that is having this problem ?
Then I must not be doing it right.
Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Or how to accomplish keeping root?
Hi
I have Samsung Galaxy S Advance GT-I9070P purchased from Singapore.
It has Android 2.3.6
It does not show Hindi fonts. So to overcome that I decided to root the phone and followed the steps as per the below thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660419
I downloaded the firmware from the following location
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/confirm/9237/I9070PDXLD3_I9070POLBLD4_SIN/
Everything works fine for the rooting and there is no error shown on the phone screen as well as on Odin screen. Everywhere it shows success.
The phone is restarted and working fine as before. But when try to access the Root Explorer, it says that the phone is not rooted??
Please suggest.
Thanks
Axit
Hi, when flashing the stock firmware via Odin/kies, any modifications that made (including root) will be lost.
For this problem, re-root the phone will fix it.

Check in google play "root checker". Install it and see what it say. Did you try to wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery? I'm not sure if it help.
