apparently each thread is different.. i usually frequent the vzw s6e thread the most and this was posted by a mod:

there has to be an apk and of course you at times cant just install it.. this is xda.. ppl should know how to manually push files and/or port it to work.
then again some ppl dont even know how to pull the apk and post it.. surely you can already find it elsewhere.. this thread should be closed imo lol id post it but i dont have those devices

did anyone manage to extract note 5 camera apk and port to s6 successfully? In the recent update I was expecting Samsung to introduce shutter control feature to S6 like in note 5, but Samsung being Samsang has skipped this....now I'm not even sure if we ever get to see this feature in S6.

to my knowledge you cant just pull and install it.. it might need to be modified/ported to work

Eh? The S6 edge + has the exact same camera doesn't it? Why do you want the Note 5's if we already have shutter control?
im using galaxy s6.. sadly it doesnt have the shutter control even they have the same sensor
Don't know why Samsung wouldn't implement note 5 camera's manual features on S6 considering S6 is more popular, hate Samsung for this.
Now waiting eagerly for XDA to port this unless it's some restriction in place by Samsung on camera module.

Umm...I highly doubt it. It is just a launcher. If you want Samsung apps and a samsung UI why not get the Vibrant or SGS4g?

Left the vibrant for nexus s. rather go back to using vhs tapes in a vcr. I just like using qwerty remocon and allshare on the samsung 3dtv. havnt found anything else to replace the apps.

I have no clue what qwerty remocon is, but the Nexus S should have the same DLNA compatibility as any other SGS phone so its just a matter of finding an app or modifying AllShare to work on the SNS

qwerty remocon is a wifi remote to control samsung led tv. i was told that those apps need touch wiz to install

That is most likely true and it sounds like you need a TouchWiz phone :/
I like this phone much better than my former vibrant. I only asked because those galaxy variants have some great features. None would be worth going back to touchwiz proper and rfs and lag fixes, etc. Still, getting some hacked touchwiz framework to allow the installation of those great codecs and some of the apps another poster listed would be the best of both worlds, especially since this phone has MOST of the same hardware.

Also +1 (Just got my nexus s as the galaxy tab persuaded me to replace my n900 ^^).
I have a rooted tab. if posting the apps (titanium backup and apk exports) helps, let me know.

That would be great if someone could port those apps to the nexus s.
Just wondering if anyone else if having the issue I have been having. I got my Gear from the US (I'm Canadian) and my Note 3 here in Canada. When I first got it it had the ChatON app preinstalled and I used it heavily because I could reply by sending a voice message. Anyway after doing an update and a reset it was no longer there and of course you cannot download it on their App Store. Was this a location things, only available in some areas? Anyway to get it back or does anyone have the file? It would make it so much better for me.

It's in my store.. sprint galaxy S4 on 4.2.2 though I edited the build prop to note 3. Ever since the edit and reinstall of gear manager I managed to pick up a few more apps too.

Having the same problem where the chat on app for galaxy gear is not available to download. This apk, do you install on the phone or the gear itself cause I cannot get it to work.

Just pulled the apk file from post #5. Downloaded and installed on phone, but do not see it in gear Manger or on the gear. What am I doing wrong?

Hi guys! Okay, I need some help. I just upgraded to the Note 5 from the Note 4. While I like the phone overall, I'm absolutely missing the Smart Select S Pen feature from the Note 4 (which, objectively, is the better phone). Could anyone please, please, please....please post the apk for the Smart Select feature? I'm going to try to put it on my Note 5.
I found an app that actually works better than the Note 5 rendition of Smart Select (http://apkpure.com/smart-select-ocr/com.bin.smartselect) but it's just not the same. Thanks for the help!

Actually, you're 100% right. It's not a standalone app so to speak. It's, more than likely, an system apk mixed with a few other settings and system dependencies, mixed with a few thinks I'm not familiar with :silly: . In order to get the Note 4's Smart Select functionality on a Note 5 I'll probably have to reach out to one of my smart developer friends.

hello galaxy s6 users if you are using good lock app from samsung you know the ugly gap on the sides of the notification panel if you want to remove that just install the attached apk and restart phone and have a fresh and clean look, no FC no service stop nothing its working 100% just try it and if you dont like it you can uninstall it any time with out FC...

I dont know how it is doing it i did found this apk long time ago i did use it on my galaxy s5 with lollipop 5.1.1 to remove the gap on the sides aswell i hate does gapps its ugly as hell and i tried on the good lock app and it worked for me so its nice to have it

I searched a lot, but did not find a solution to the following known problem:
Since about a year you wouldn't be able to update almost all Samsung core apps (mail, contacts, messages, gallery, clock, touchwiz, ...) directly with the proper apk file (from for example apkmirror).
On S8(+) you were able to bypass this protection by changing the secure startup (either way) and reboot the device. until the next reboot all update-installations would have been successful.
On Note8 this trick does not work anymore.
Only chance is directly after an (official, OTA or Odin) update. Then, it is also possible to update all Samsung programs until next reboot, after which the security mechanism takes place again!
Has anyone so far figured out how to bypass this protection, as it is really annoying?

Samsung already closed the flaw that directly after an update the manual apk update was possible.
On Tab S3 this is still working (experienced myself a few days ago), but not on Note8...
Does anyone has a solution for this problem?
