After updating hangouts to 4.0 I've lost MMS capabilities. I've read in a few places that "Google disabled it in fear of stagefright but it will be turned back on when the rollout is complete.". Can anyone actually confirm that? And if that's true, why isn't anyone talking about it? That seems like kind of a big deal to me. Anyways, MMS through Textra and previous versions of hangouts works just fine. Any input is appreciated!
Mms works for me
You seriously using hangouts for sms/mms? Why? Use google messenger. MUCH cleaner and nicer.
Also FYI: could actually be your SERVICE PROVIDER disabling MMS.

Is there an app that can have the SMS app receive the google voice messages and default to sending through GV? There are plugins for the iPhone that do this, but havent found anything for android that will do it. I hate using the official app for SMS... its slow and clunky!
Thanks.
I'm not aware of anything for Android, but I would love to know as well if there is.
In regard to Google Voice being slow and clunkly. It may be a little annoying to some to have to use a seperate application, but there are fixes to the slowness. Mine is just as fast as opening the stock sms window.
Voodoo Lagfix resovle the slow google voice app issue for me.
Google voice needs to be completely integrated into android. One should have the option of setting it as the default voicemail and sms client. One should also be able to apply themes.
I suspect the lack of mms support is 1 reason they haven't made it so.
As always, IMHO
I just came from a GSIII and picked up a Verizon Moto X, and I noticed that when someone includes me in a group sms, I don't see the other recipients; it appears as if the sender just sent me a personal text. At first I though it was a bug in Handcent (it's been really buggy lately), but the same thing is happening in the stock messenger. As much as I hated touchwiz on my GSIII, it was nice to be able to recognize when you receive a group text and see who the other recipients are. Is this a bug, or just a "feature" of stock android? Is it fixable? I'm not rooted yet, but will get around to it soon. Thanks.
Read the post wrong and replied.

Nobody else is having this issue?
Works fine for me. Just make sure u have group mms checked in the message settings for the stock app and or handcent
I am having the same issue. What is odd, is that my girlfriend has a Moto X too (On verizon) and hers works the way it should when she sends/receives a group message. The only difference was she ordered hers a week later and it came with Kitkat, I had to update mine myself.
For both the messaging or hangouts SMS app there is a setting for "Group Messaging". Make sure that's checked.

It has been checked the whole time.
So I learned that OK Google Now will only send and read texts and emails through the native messaging and gmail apps, respectively. The problem, as noted in another thread, was that I use Google Voice and Exchange for those purposes, which takes some of the WOW out of the Moto X.
I'm now looking for a work-around.
Does anyone know of a way to route my GV texts (I don't have a texting plan on AT&T and have texting blocked) and my Exchange emails through the native messaging and gmail apps?
BTW, I tried selecting Receive Texts Through the Messaging App in the GV Settings--Sync and Notification, but it didn't seem to work.
I would appreciate any ideas on this.
Thanks in advance.
hmm... i think i catch on to what you're trying to do... but as of date, i think Sprint is the only carrier with FULL GV integration.
sorry.. kinda SOL on that one since you blocked SMS.
but if SMS was active through your ATT account, i currently am using 8sms to send/receive texts and OKGN works fully well with it.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I don't want to pay for texting with AT&T.
I guess I am SOL for now. Though I'm hopeful one of the xda wizards will come up with something.
Anybody having issues sending and receiving MMS via WiFi?
Just curious - are you using the stock messaging app, or something else?
I'm coming from an LG G2, and spent a few months working with support to finally determine I couldn't use a non-stock app and still send MMS over wifi. I miss Handcent, but switching back to the stock app did the trick. I don't know if that's true with the S6, but would guess it is.

Using stock messenger app. I tried tweaking the APN according to what others were recommending on older gen Galaxys by selecting IPv6/IPv4 but still not able to get MMS to work over wifi.

any others?
any others that preferrably have an archive feature + block like g-messengeR?
Anyone have a fix for the T-Mobile MMS issue? I can't download texts that are coming through group messaging. I have played around with the APN settings but nothing seems to work.
what messaging app are you using?
are you on wifi calling at the time?
This happens to me too sometimes. Stock mms app on data. I have a few that have been downloading for three days now
until yesterday i got zero group texts that were sent to me from iphones. yesterday i changed ipv6 to ipv4 in my apn settings and group texts worked when i tested it. can't say it's a permanent fix, but definitely give that a shot.
I switched from Hangouts to the Google Messenger app as recommended from another forum and so far it seemed to do the trick.
