I have an LG G2 VS98039A (5.0.2) So obviously I have no flash drive.
I want to install Blisspop.
I have rooted, installed SU, TWRP, bought and installed the paid version of Titanium Backup (probably a mistake).
I want to have a complete backup to fall back on if I mess up my ROM install. It appears that if I go at if backwards (connecting to computer with USB then opening up the phone files on my PC) that many of the folders are empty.
I do not want to use the cloud.
Surely I am missing some obvious thing? Please help me, I'm not computer illiterate but I haven't messed around with phone modding since my old blackberry back in 2009.
Thanks in advance!
Do you know how to make a nandroid? Create one then copy it to your computer. That's your backup.
I have a USB OTG adapter that I plug a USB drive into. That connects to the phone as external storage. I create a nandroid there.
Titanium Backup still has it's uses. It was more valuable years ago but I use it to freeze those Verizon apps I can't uninstall. It's also good at uninstalling system apps. Anyway good luck.

hey
I've a question I try to save the data of a friends phone whos screen is broken and dont respond.
Everytime I use
Code:
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/ C:\Android
it responds with
Code:
Code:
pull: building file list...
0 files pulled. 0 files skipped.
What do I wrong??
Thanks for your replies
Does really nobody know it?
Or does anybody have a solution the save data from a phone which screen is broken (black) and touch screen doesn't work either and last but not least usb debugging isn't enabled.
Without USB debugging enabled, you can't connect trough adb, try doing "adb devices", wich will probably show nothing, what means that you can't use adb.

I've rooted the phone blind and in the recovery my pc shows the device in the list, status = recovery.
Oh okay, then try to mount sdcard and try again, if that doesn't work, try to unmount it again and try again.

thank you very much for your replie, i tried it with my phone (i9000) and it worked
the problem is that my friend has a Galaxy S3 and i don't know the structure of CWM 5.5...
Well there isn't that much difference between the cwm versions, if you look at it it almost explaines itself
Sent from my awesome fridge
there are some diffrentes between the versions and because i don't see what i do, it's very important to know in which order the things are coming
At the moment the situation is the following:
All the data on the sd got erased (i dont know when), but i have now access to the sd over the pc. The problem is that the S3 doesnt support usb mass storage which means that recuva etc to restore the files wont work.
Are there any other ways to restore the data or to activate usb mass storage?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
not unless you have a TitaniumBackup...if you have CWM 6.0.1.0 mounting USB storage option is in recovery itself
also i have no intention of high jacking this thread but off late i am facing certain weird issues with adb myself Error mounting SDcard
My dont have a TitaniumBackup but that is anyway useless cause he need his pictures etc. Do you have read the whole thread? Because at the moment the problem is that i cant restore the data from the erased sd card cause windows dont detect the Galaxy S3 as a Usb mass storage. And because the screen is broken I also cant try a solution from xda ^^
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Well, the data on your sdcard is gone, if adb won't recognize it. But what files do you want from your sdcard? 'cause when you only need the pictures, it might be auto-uploaded on dropbox or google drive etc
Sent from my awesome fridge
I think you missunderstood ^^ first the pictures arent uploaded to dropbox etc. And the problem first was that i couldnt get access to the data cause he had a pin to unlock which i cant tip in without screen. After flashing a 3 file fw the pin was gone and i could access the data. Unfortunality it also formated the whole SD.
The same Problem happend to my phone and i could restore my data with the program called "Recuva".
The problem now is that the S3 don't have a USB Mass Storage like the S1 and the PC dont detect it as a hard drive so Recuva wont recognize it either
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda app-developers app
Well you can always buy a USB stick with sdcard availability, or use another phone with that sdcard to wich does have mass storage enabled.
Sent from my awesome fridge
The problem is, i need the data from this Phone. Accidently it formated the whole internal memory on which everything was (Music, Pictures etc.).
With a Tool called Recuva you can restore deleted files. But Recuva doesn't recognizes the Galaxy S3. Because Galaxy S3 don't have Mass Storage anymore, I thought Samsungs uses now MTP or something like this. And now i need a Tool or something to restore everything from the formated internal SD.
Try searching for that on google.

I did for nearly 5 hours
you're my last hope
All wouldn't be a problem if the screen would work or if my friend enabled usb debugging
Is there any possibility to get into recovery mode and flash a Rom? If yes, you could use a Stockrom with a modified build.prop so USB debugging would be enabled.

Usb debugging dont matter at the moment cause all files are deleted! I need a tool to restore a formated sd

Okay nevermind, it's possible, but to recover the files you need something to pare your sdcard to your PC, do you have any other phone or a USB stick with a sdcard slot?

I have had some trouble with my phone since dropping it.
Now sometimes it does not turn on and it took me an hour or so trying to turn it on, (it made the vibrate sound but nothing on screen at all).
And my pc/laptop does not recognize the phone when i plug it via USB although the charge icon changes :S
the last backup i made was many months ago with pc companion.
Is there a way i can make a backup of all messages/numbers ect..
I am planning on getting the exact same phone tomorrow so would like to just swap it all over.
Thanks
Have you installed Clockwork Mod and can access to it? It has a backup option.
By the way, if you can't use USB how do you plan to move the backup from the phone to the PC in order to move it to the new phone?
If you just want to backup contacts, messages, call log, calendar. You can use "Super Backup" from play store. No root needed.
To backup apps, you can use "AppMonster".

Stock Backup and Restore app does the job, just remember to choose the SD card as the backup storage. You can choose what to backup, including third-party apps and their settings.

Obviously, but I wrongly assumed that he couldn't boot on Android and was stuck at boot (that happened to me a while ago) , if it's not the case then there wouldn't be any problems if he owns a MicroSD.

The phone is currently on, but if it's turned off it will not start again for hours, takes ages trying to get it to turn on.
Update on this:
Managed to transfer ALL my pics and vids (contacts.sms and convos) via a file manager over wireless (took hours lol)
What do you guys suggest i now do with this phone? what would need replacing? or be causing the SD card and usb not to work? (it charges via USB, but i have to plug in and unplug a few times)

Hello there!
Due to some unprecedented events, I lost all the data from my internal storage and am now stumped. I do not have a clue as to how to recover my lost data. All I want to recover are some photos and a few backup files that I had. Has anyone successfully recovered data from the internal storage? If so, could you please guide me?
Thank you!
There's a couple apps mentioned in this thread.... But generally recovery of deleted files doesn't seem to work out a lot of times I'm afraid.

Ive had great results from this portable version of recuva, it can be ran from a usb drive. Not sure if it will detectvand scan your phone but its worth a shot.. mount it mtp and let me know please. https://www.piriform.com/recuva/features/portable-version
I had wiped the "userdata" using fastboot thinking it would only erase the app data files and not the internal memory. :/ I haven't overwritten the memory yet; looking for ways to recover. @doitinthedirt Will try that application you recommended, although I haven't had any success with the other apps I tried.
Well, it didn't detect my phone. However, it did a fine job showing me deleted files from my USB.

I have the same problem! I deleted a video file, and it´s so important. I´d tried some tools, but none can access to the internal memory of my Moto X... Some suggestion!!!????
Always transfer anything important to Drive, Dropbox or the pc or something regularly. Phones are not the best storage places for important things. Way to much can happen to a phone.
Just some advice. ?

If those apps don't work, you're out of luck unfortunately.
googled moto X data recovery this popped up don't know anything about it but looks promising
http://www.card-data-recovery.com/phone/moto-x-data-recovery.html
the first one I sent you Recuva worked awesome for recovering photos from my moms RAZR M data card pulled the data card out pluged it into a USB port and it found a lot of her photos that were already deleted.. that portable version works awesome you can use it on any computer run it from a thumb drive so you're not rewriting anything on the computer and you can recover the files to the thumb drive

Try to get a micro USB and connect it via a USB adapter directly. Then copy the files to your SD card, eject and then insert in your Note 4. Try to restore your backup now.
---------- Post added at 09:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 AM ----------
Or you could also just flash stock via Odin, set up your phone, connect and transfer your backup via USB and then re-flash TWRP and restore your saved nandroid backup.

I have a Nexus 6 with a weak battery, and just acquired an identical one with a good battery. I would like to "clone" the old one,
I tried adb backup, but its far from making a complete copy of everything.
twrp backup also does not really copy everything, and I as far as I can tell wants to do it too an an internal file. Not practical since my phone is almost full.
Is there some way to really clone onto identical hardware?
Twrp backup and restore, and Titanium Backup and restore should be good enough

I've used this guide many times to make a TWRP backup directly to my computer. It doesn't store much, if anything, on your phone so space is not a problem.

It's also a viable option to use an USB thumbstick via otg to make backup from twrp and then copy titanium backups on the stick too, restore it on your 2nd nexus and voila
