Bricked phone - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone! I bricked my Xperia Z1, I tried flashing stock rom, pc companion, Emma tool nothing works. I sent it to Sony repair centre hoping they can flash it back for me but they claim that it is a hardware problem and I need to replace the mainboard which is so expensive I could afford a new phone with it. Any solution? Appreciate your help!
The phone is able to boot, but not able to charge. I can see the Sony logo, then it boot over and over again but it cannot charge.

My Nokia x2 also stopped charging and I took it to a trusted shop and he fixed it.
When I got home I disassembled it and checked what he's done, he soldered a wire from the microusb plug to a resistor. Everything is working now.
I guess the connection from the plug to the resistor was cut from inside the mainboard so he made an external connection.

Broken phone...custom rom?

Hi, I have dropped my phone and the gold pins where the battery connects have broken and fallen out, also needs a new screen. I rang Sony Ericsson and they can fix it, but I have flashed it with custom ram....Is there anyway to remove this otherwise they wouldnt repair it.
Is it possible to power up the phone without a battery?
Cheers
i couldnt turn on phone without battery via usb cable,
im not sure about reverting to save warranty - but your problems are hardware.
sorry about that.

Don't go to a SE service centre then. Go to some random GSM repair shop, they won't care about your ROM.

Did u perform rooting? unlocking BL? flashing roms ?
either ways....getting your phone is one worst thing....
It is very hard to brick an Xperia device nowadays.
You sure is not just out of juice? Sometimes it can be that the battery suddenly dies and you have to leave it charging a lot of time to turn it back to life.
Locked or unlocked bootloader?
Flashtool should do the job in case of soft brick. Or even EMMA in case you are unlocked.
Does it get detected by the PC?

rooted but no custom firmware or karnel and i did the root the day i got the phone and the phone died when pluging it into a pc to get some files from the phone the only application(on phone) open was boot up ones and Google chrome.
Not a Issue with the pc as i used an xpreia u and the xperia z worked on the same port.
the phone stopped even getting picked up by the pc only red led.
this is a know issue with the xperia z(from android) ics when i loocked at it, it seamed to be the sleep of death and power reset did not work.
firmware: default .434 uk

Discarded driver corruption?
Reparations probably are gonna cost you as much as a new device if they need to replace the motherboard.
Youare not under warranty.

it still finds my old xperia u
and i did reinstall that with no success yestaday.
can you flash only the stock kernel from fast boot mode? i once had the same issue when the device failed to start with red led blink, and flashing the kernel fixed this issue.
You bought the phone with unlocked bootloader? Was it used? Else I think you're confusing unlockable and unlocked.
the phone has at last got to sony my issue should get fixed soon

Any news? My Z died most likely because I messed with terminal emulator (tried to get rid off CWM bootloop the easy way ) and it didn't boot up ever again... Only thing I get out of it is red led when pressing power and vol+ when usb is connected. Computer sees it as a usb device but cannot connect to it. No fastboot or flash mode. I'm going to send it for repairs but it will probably be too expensive to get it done.
I already got htc one to replace Z. One sounds awesome! Incredible speakers for a phone. It is fast and sweet. BUT it looks STUPID when you put Z and One side by side... And no waterproofness of course

So sony sucks globally when it comes to customer care?! Have to try it my self. I've heard that finnish service company is very very good at what they do... Even if your phone has a 50 cal bullet hole smack in the middle they'll blame water/moisture damage. If you manage to convince them to actually look at your device they'll send it to some Euro main service central where it will be sucked in to a wormhole and time around that phone seems to stop
update:
SBE fault : charging - does not charge
Status : With High Level Engineer - Component Repair
update:
sbe have said the phone is unrepairable and are going to exchange it for another one.
Wow this took some time...
Almost two months it took:
1. Sending device to finnish service center
2. It was sent to sony service right away
3. after waiting and waiting I asked finnish service whats going on: Atleast their version was that sony had fixed (or replaced with a new device) and sent it back to finland. And during shipping device was lost.
4. According to finnish service sony was figuring out what to do, propably giving new devices....
5. So after almost two months I got a replacement XZ. And it was done under warranty. Yay!

[Q] Sony Xperia - Dead after plugging in charge cable!

I plugged charger cable into my phone tonight and the phone restarted, it then loaded up to the o2 logo screen which displays for a few seconds and then it reboots, it keeps doing this until i hold down volume up and the power button and it vibrates 3 times.
If i switch it back on it repeats the cycle of rebooting.
Anyone got any ideas ?
It also doesn't appear to charge if i plug a charge cable into it and when i connected the USB from the phone to my laptop with the phone on it made the laptop power off
Any help appreciated i tried xperia support but they weren't much help
Can u try charging it via laptop. Guess Ur system has crashed. The last option I could tell u is to flash the firmware again via PC companion or flash tool. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, i left the phone on for a bit and it no longer is stuck in a loop, it just flash's red light 3 times.
Nothing works to make it switch on and nothing happens if i plug it in to charge ?
doe's anyone know how i go about getting it repaired under warranty, Sony's on line help was less than helpful.
I got the phone from the car phone warehouse back in Feb, but my experience from my last phone going wrong is they don't want to fix it under warranty and find any reason to get out of it, also just read my insurance document and it states it won't replace/repair the phone if it should still be under warranty
How can a phone provider refuse warranty replacement of a clearly screwed up device? That's ridiculous

Well I have found that the original charger cable is faulty, hence why it isn't charging!
I have used a new cable and if I use SUS to try and fix the phone then it will show a blue light...but then states that it can't find a driver for S1Boot Fastboot ? :silly:
Any ideas what this driver is and how to install it or is SUS meant to install the driver and my phone is to broken for it to recognise it ?
Thanks :good:

I used SUS only on time and it doesnt solve my problem...
You can hard shutoff the phone and let it charge, its better to keep it always charged, just in case...

Go on the Sony website and organise a repair through them, It will be much faster and you don't have to deal with Carphone WH at all!
Just fill in a form or chat to someone online and they will give you the address to send it to free post.
Package it up and you can track it.
I wouldn't open it up but it sounds to me as if the battery is not connected or present, ive fixed a few Xperia Zs and if you remove the battery and plug it in the boot loop goes on and on.
As long as you haven't opened it, the white stickers under the flaps have not gone pink, its not physically damaged, you have not rooted it AND its still under warranty.... they should replace it!
If its your fault and you damaged it I think they charge £14 to return it or destroy it, whichever you prefer.
Good luck

Need advice: Should I JTAG my device?

Okay, here's the deal..
A few months ago, an OTA screwed up my phone(dont ask). It got hard bricked and I had to JTAG the phone. Unfortunately, the guy who did the JTAG, probably didnt do it properly, he damaged some parts e.g. the camera wouldnt focus, the wifi range got extremely short etc. But the device worked...for 5 months or so without a hiccup. Until last week when the micro usb charging port failed and i took it to HTC Service Center to get it repaired. The port was repaired fine, but the phone went into bootloop and would be stuck on boot splash screen. I tested the bootloader by booting into it and found it was working fine, it was booting into recovery and everything. I decided to flash an RUU and set the device back, but before i could flash, when i put the device into bootloader, it blinked and went dead.
It wouldn't charge, it wouldn't boot...nothing.
So I took it back to HTC Service Center hoping that the battery was down or some reason but no..the guy said the motherboard is dead.
My question is, should I try to JTAG the motherboard again? Not from that guy, some other reliable person, but will it help?
I dont have warranty, so sending it in is out...
Will a right JTAG flash restart the phone or should I save the $35 I would have to spend on the JTAG?

[Q] phone isn't booting

Hey guys, my phone is stuck on the sony boot logo and it's getting really hot. I tried flashing the original ftf with flashtool but nothing changed, it just stays on the sony logo and it gets hot:crying:. Then i tried to repair it with the pc companion and still nothing changed... I'm guessing it's a hardware problem, like the cpu goes on some loop and it gets hot.
Does anyone has an idea about wich the problem might be? If it is some hardware component, wich one could it be? If it's a software problem, is there anything else i could try except flashtool and pc companio wich didn't help? Please help cause at the repair center they asked 200€ even if they didn't know the exact problem yet and if it was repairable and for that money i'd rather buy a new phone, even if i love the sony xperia:crying:. Thanks in advance for the help
