Rooted VZW Moto X on 5.1 with unlocked bootloader - any idea why I am unable to change read/write permissions for using root explorer? I am trying to install the Google dialer and this is my hang up.
Have you granted root access to Root Explorer?

I was just referred to this site for guidance on rooting my Verizon XT1096 (Moto X 2014) running Lollipop 5.0. I understand there was a problem with the locked bootloader on this particular device that has been preventing root access. Is this still the problem? Is root still not being achieved? And also, how can I determine if my device has a locked bootloader?
Thanks
Reboot into fastboot menu it will tell you if its unlocked
There is no root for the Verizon version.
Your phone has a locked bootloader, and unfortunately there is no root for it either. Sorry to say, but you are stuck with a stock phone.

Hello guys, I bought an Att sim unlocked, locked bootloader moto X 2013, and I' m fine with stock, but I want to remove some bloatware. Now I'm in 4.4.4 and I heard that I can root my phone, but after a reboot the root is gone, because of the locked bootloader.I want this temporal root to unistall the att bloatware plus some other app. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance?
Instead of temporary Rooting, you could better choose to Disable the Bloats.. (few cant be disabled as well) :s

Temp root was available on 4.4.2 and lower. Once on 4.4.4 you can't root, nor can you use Sunshine to unlock your bootloader then root.
My son has a moto x bought in 2014 - XT1052. How can i root it safely, because i am a little afraid of the process. I have in mind that is very dificult to do that in this phone, anybody as made it? I have the OPO rooted and is great, my son wants some of the functionalities that i have in my phone but it needs to be rooted...
Sorry for my english (not my 1st or 2nd language)...
yes possible to root, i've rooted mine with king root, but you need to unlock your bootloader first, then install the .apk file of king root(the easiest method to root moto x), then get twrp recovery and you're good to go !

Hey I have moto xt1052 please help me I want to root my phone I try kingroot but after unsuccessful I was successful one time but than my mobile is restarting and than I will my phone no more rooted?
Edit: whoops I thought this was the 2014 forum. My bad, I'm not sure how to delete, but will when I figure out.
I'm just trying to get stock Marshmallow on my ATT xt1097. Used kingroot for temp root, and sunshine SUPPOSEDLY unlocked my bootloader. During the "process", Sunshine erased itself from my phone and I had to manually reboot my phone. I got the message before boot that my bootloader WAS unlocked. But root is gone, and kingroot will not give me a permanent root.
Do I need root to flash the stock ROM? If so, is there a way to do this from my phone? I don't have access to a computer at the moment.
Hi,can anyone tell me i have rooted my droid turbo at su4tl-49 using kingroot.
It has full root access.
Can some one tell me if i use root explorer and make kingroot a system file will the root will be permanant or bricked.
I also want to ask that if i edit build.prop or any other file using root explorer will it be brick unless its safe file?
Unless you have unlocked your bootloader, what you are doing is not safe.

Unlock Bootloader, then root with SuperSU, SAFEST bet. Along with TWRP

He has said repeatedly he doesn't want to do that. He refuses to pay for Sunshine. So, he keeps trying to find a way without unlocking his bootloader (paying money), which we have advised against.
He regains temp root with King Root every time he reboots. He wants our permission to make major system changes, so when he bricks his phone it's not his fault. King Root itself will often mess up your system.

I agree about KingRoot. What's the deal, I spent I don't remember but like 20 something for sunshine, unless he's a kid he should have the $ to be honest I don't mind paying if there's not a definite free way of anything.
