Importing stock ringtones into custom rom - Motorola Droid 4

How do I do it?
Sent from my XT894 using Tapatalk

Stock ringtones should be under the standard folder: /system/media/audio/ringtones. You can copy them out of there to the SD card or somesuch using any file manager that can acquire root access; Total Commander is one such example.
As for the ROM you're transferring to...it depends on how new it is.
For KitKat-based ROMS/CM11, you can make a folder on either the internal or external SD card simply named "ringtones", and put the ringtones in there; it should work. Alternatively, you can copy them directly into /system/media/audio/ringtones for the recipient ROM, as long as the permissions on the files are right (664/rw-r--r-- iirc).
For Lollipop/CM12(.1), the last time I checked, putting ringtones and notifications on either SD partition didn't work properly after a reboot (if at all to begin with); this might have been fixed at some point in the last few months, so it's worth checking.
A surefire way is using the built-in CM File Manger (Total Commander didn't used to work, but may these days) to copy them into /system/media/audio/ringtones, again, as long as the permissions are set properly. They should show right up, if not, reboot the phone.
Keep in mind that extra files placed in /system/media/audio/ringtones will be wiped during every ROM flash (e.g. nightlies and the like). After "installing" the ringtones, you can use something like ZIPme to make a flashable zip out of the ringtones folder, and flash that after a new nightly.

2 problems i have on N1

hi
I face two serious problems on my N1 which is running the latest CM stable version
Well i use my sdcard to install apps on.Today i install many themes and icon packs through market and those were not all installed. After that i could not access my sdcard and also couldnot unmount it.i tried to remove apps but on the screen i saw that was looping on calculating size of each app.is this my sdcard problem? or i am doing something wrong
Other problem is that on gallery i see fotos and videos stored everywhere on my sdcard. Is there a way to stop specific folders to appear on gallery?
can also anybody tell me where i see which radio image is installed on my phone?
is cm updating radio to latest version?
Regards
To exclude certain directories from the gallery, put a .nomedia file in the directory you want to exclude.
I use Astro file manager to just copy an existing .nomedia file from a directory that already has one.

thanx m8 for the reply.i will try your suggestion as soon as i get a working phone
CM or any other custom ROM doesn't update radio.
When loaded, Settings / About / Baseband will show you the version.
Both of the problems you describe aren't CM bugs, or bugs at all, for that matter. Looks like your SD card got corrupted, if you're not able to read it correctly - get it out of the phone and work with SD card reader (save the data and format the card). I'd suggest changing the misleading thread title.

[Q] Flashable zip for copying files to /system

So I've got a handful of audio files I need to copy to /system/media/audio/notifications and /system/media/audio/ringtones every time I flash a new ROM (even upgrade).
I do this since I often have my SD card mounted (car/desk/etc), and if I do, I get the terrible system beep ringtone/notification, since my N1 can't find the configured sound file.
How would I go about creating a flashable zip that would install those files to the correct location, rather than doing it manually each time?
I've made a similar flashable zip.
Here is what I did. Took a ROM zip file. Made a copy. Opened the *copy* up. Navigate to System. Delete all files/folders except for media.
Open up media folder. Delete all files/folders except for audio.
Open up audio folder. Delete all files/ folders except for ringtones and notifications.
Open up ringtones folder. Delete all files and add the ringtones you want.
Open up notifications folder. Delete all files and add the notifications you want.
Save the new zip file to the SD card and flash it.
And most importantly, NANDROID before you flash it.
BTW, you can also make a media/audio/notifications folder (and/or media/audio/ringtones) on the SD card. Then you can run then right from the card instead of loading them each time. Takes a little time for the new ringtones to show up in settings.

(Tip) Installing nookie with oc & gapps

Here's a tip I've been doing since my early days of rooting and rom'ing. I didn't want to do all the dumb adb steps (they're needed sometimes I know) for getting gapps and oc and build.prop edits..
I did this for internal install, but I suspect you can work it for the SD card as well if you know how.. also please make sure you copy the Froyo uImage file for the OC.
1: Download nokie froyo. Leave it zipped or unzip, its your choice
2: unzip the oc file and drag the uImage file into the correct folder (sorry I can't remember, if someone could post the correct location, ill update)
3: drag and drop the system folder from the gapps download into your nookie. You want to drag it to the area where you see the /system folder but not actually in it. It will automaticly place the sub folders.
3A: (optional) if you have a edited build.prop, you can copy and replace now.
4: (optional if you unzipped) zip the folder using the 'store' option for compression
5: flash using the same method you usually would through CWR
I used winRAR and just dragged and dropped, and it worked great. It automaticly compressed the files to match the destination folder. I recommend drag and drop because winRAR doesn't have a paste option.
You can also place and remove any apps in the system folder at this time. You can make the folder as large as you want with whatever apps you feel should be in the folder.
I personally think its a great way to skip a number of steps. By putting in the files and stuff you want and then flash it saves time.
***** WARNING****** using a high overclock your nook can't support will result in the end of the world... misplacing files can and will result in a non-booting nook... USE AT OWN RISK IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING.... DON'T DO IT
I won't post my file because of two reasons:
1: nookie froyo is not mine and I will not take credit for anything that those people spent hours finely crafting
2: I think distributing files with gapps installed is wrong or something, I'm not too sure
CREDIT: to all the fine developers who slave hours to create awesome roms... THANKS!!!

If you have an internal eMMC installation of Froyo and want an overclocked kernel then I'd recommend using my Clockwork Mod zip to install.
That's good to use if you have out already installed, but if you are putting the new version on, this is a lot easier. Just put what you want, then flash once

I was able to install all the gapps correctly. Unfortunately I can't seem to connect to the google servers. I cleared the data and cache from the google framework app but had no success any ideas?

[Q] Audio/Ringtones/Notification Problem

Recently just installed XXJVO on my SGS, everything is working fine except the fact that alot of my ringtones and notification sounds are missing, since they was already backed up I just copied the folder to System/Media/Audio but it doesn't read them. Just the ones that was there already, I've tried copying the audio folder to the SD card and rebooted my phone several times. If I go to Root Explorer and go the directory all the files are there
Any Ideas how to fix this?

Read somewhere a guide. DonĀ“ t know if this help you out. Create on your sd a Folder called media, in there you create a Folder called audio and in there you create 3 Folders called notifications, ringtones and alarms and put the mp3 files you want in there.

[HELP] How do you insert 901 radio files in system/lib properly

I have done this every single way taking up 32 hours of my life, time away from my family and time away from my friends.
The 7 files that you are supposed to insert on system/lib are hanging stock and custom roms and I have done everything by the book to make sure that root explorer is in R/W on System and System/Lib...
Root Explorer never asks to replace the files, it just does it automatically in my case.
Are there permissions that I am missing?
what am I doing wrong here?

I just took and unpacked the rom zip and copied them straight into the /system/lib folder then repacked the zip using the store method. then copied that to my sd card and installed through either safestrap or CWM. i am having no problems doing it that way. Don't forget to unpack the zip containing those files then just copy them straight to the /system/lib of the unpacked rom zip.

Store Method??
you mean zipping it up for a flashable zip?
What method do you use for this?
The problem right now is that Root Explorer will not let me unmount, and I suspect that is the reason that the phone hangs on the "M" logo after the copy of the 7 files for the radio.
