Qualcomm 2.0 Chargers - Galaxy Note5 Accessories

All, I tested several products this week that have Qualcomm 2.0 that work with the note 5. I also have some discount codes for those that want to take advantage of them.

MHL cables/adapters

ive read somewhere that the original Note 1 MHL cables are incompatible with the galaxy S3. so i guess its the same case for the Note 2 . so i got a few questions about this:
- any recommendations from Note 2 owners ? good tested and reasonably priced cables or adapters ?
- and what r the disadvantages for using those 11 to 5 pin adapters ?? is it true that with the 11 pin cables u wont be needing a power source (as the galaxy s3 would power up the adapter it self) ????
Update: found some positive xda reviews on this http://www.ebay.ca/itm/New-MHL-Mirc...Accessories&hash=item25750548f4#ht_5438wt_952 , still a bit expensive.
thx
i've ordered the one from dealextreme wich says it's compatible with the galaxy SIII as i read that it should work with the NOTE II, so i just have to wait and see. but for 20 bucks it would be nice if it works, if not, to bad, onto ebay for a profit. will let it know if it works when i'll be able to test it. also a couple of USB-OTG cables from dx.com for a buck each.
I've been thinking about this as well, so if anybody has any info on which adaptors work, Thanks in advance of posting up info.
Added one to my Master Accessories thread.
is this good to use ? anyone tried it before on a S3 or Note 2 ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Micro-USB...aCables_JN&hash=item3f1d1560f6#ht_3696wt_1068
looking at the numbers , already 23 sold,,but cant see any feedback on it...
Bump,
Anybody get one yet, that works?
Links please, thank you!!
what about these from monoprice. They have great reviews
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p..._id=1083314&p_id=9724&seq=1&format=4#feedback
It's best to get an older one and an adaptor for the s3 and the note 2 type of fit. .. like the white one on monoprice.. same price and you get the option to use on 5 pin and 11 pin phones. .skiva mhl cable is awesome on amazon. No need for extra cables. .I got mine for about 7 bucks 2 weeks ago and then bought the monoprice adapter. Now I can use it on my note 2 and the wife's Galaxy nexus..

no snapdragon in next generation Galaxy phones?

Does this mean no Snapdragon in Note 5?

Report says that Samsung won't use Snapdragon 810 in Galaxy S6, overheating issues to blame
By Harish Jonnalagadda | Jan 21 2015 | 4:25 am | 12 Comments
Samsung
Over the last few years, Samsung has stuck to a release model for its flagships that sees the inclusion of Qualcomm chips for LTE markets, and Exynos-based variants in South Korea and emerging markets. That may change with the Galaxy S6, as a report out of Bloomberg states that Samsung won't offer a Snapdragon 810 variant of the Galaxy S6 on grounds of overheating issues.
Citing people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg says that Qualcomm's eight-core Snapdragon 810 "overheated during the Korean company's testing," with Samsung finally deciding not to use it altogether. Samsung will instead launch the Galaxy S6 with an in-house Exynos SoC. The South Korean manufacturer has been making huge strides in the field of application processors, with the latest version featuring an integrated LTE modem.
Samsung isn't far off in terms of processing power when seen against Qualcomm's offerings, but the vendor, along with everyone else in the segment including MediaTek, Intel and Nvidia, are miles behind Qualcomm when it comes to LTE modems. For instance, Qualcomm announced that it will offer the Snapdragon 810 with an LTE Category 9 modem that can attain download speeds of up to 450 Mbit/sec.
If Samsung is indeed looking to boycott the Snapdragon 810, it may be in the minority, as LG's G Flex 2 has Qualcomm's eight-core SoC, and HTC's upcoming One M9 is also expected to feature Qualcomm's latest.

If Samsung skips it due to overheating issues should we be concerned about flagship devices using it?

We don't know if it's real or they just made it up so they can opt for exynos

Why should they do that when they have been using Qualcomm for past many years? It's a business, not fight among kids where you need to give a useless logic. If Samsung just wanted to use Exynos, they would simply do so without even talking about Qualcomm. There is no logic to giving any sort of explanation.

Right. It's a business. And using their own in house chip is cheaper. This is a smoke screen.

The Exynos 7 is so powerful it may have the 810 trumped. I wish the SD 805 had issues that forced Samsung to go with only the Exynos 5433 on the note 4, lol. Exynos is now top of the line. The days of the octa 5420 (which is still very powerful) are over. The cat 9 of the 810 is impressive though

Well it's all rumours until the phone actually shows up, personally don't mind either one, as both the Snapdragon and Exynos (which one though?) seem to be beasts.
But some modders might not like the Exynos

At the HTC event, I would like if AC could ask about this issue. I don't want to get an overheating mess on the m9.

LOL AC "editors" don't ask any "questions" that might prove difficult for manufacturers or Google. They simply report the fluff presented to them.

@harish Jonnalagadda, why are you mentioning Cat 9 modem as it is of much importance here? Samsung already is planning for in-house Cat 10 modem, so why suddenly Cat 9 be of any importance. Forget Cat 9/10, how many regions can actually exceed Cat 6??

Bit of a worry really, as if it is a problem with the 810 chip itself, the other vendors will have issues. On the other hand, if it is simply the design of the S6 that is to blame for the issues then Sammy are not doing such a great job.
Either way, I'm glad I'll be skipping this years offerings, hopefully 2016 will have stable CPU choices, 2K with no lag and type C USB

If the overheating issues are a fact, then Samsung would have an edge if they designed a mean SoC. Especially if their competitors are going for the 810.
I've also been missing the Wolfson DAC, since the Exynos version is impossible to find unless I'm looking abroad. Would be nice to have that opportunity.
With all the reported issues in the 810, I'd avoid any phone based on it, and wait for one based on the 820.
It would be better if Samsung stuck to one CPU per Galaxy model though, IMO, I remember the Note 2 being Exynos globally, if I'm not mistaken?

That's correct, the Note 2 was quite strange in that it was only Exynos which I was sure was an error since most other Samsung devices used Qualcomm in the US and some other territories but it does seem to be the case.

Agree.
As I've said before, the 810 turns out to be a bad chip.

That's correct, there were variants with different radio support but they all used the Samsung Exynos platform rather than Snapdragon. I initially assumed a friend in the US was wrong when he said his US Note 2 was Exynos but when I read up on it I couldn't find any variants using a Snapdragon platform.

Hm, I didn't know! Usually, we get the SD where I live. Our S3 was Exynos. I stand corrected.
snapdragons this generation and the next suck so im happy they decided to ditch it for the s6. maybe we will get a 64 bit kernel for our note 4s finally if they go all in on exy 7s for the s6.
They should put a heatsink fan on s805

Personally, i give a damn on what processor the Note 5 will use (as that will be my next phone or maybe the Note 6). Because what matters to me is that the CPU and ofc the GPU gives me good performance and as long as i can root and install a good custom ROM on the Note without any hassles or problems, then i will be all happy.
I know there are more support for the Snapdragon CPU's when it comes to custom ROM's, but i do believe it's alright for the Exynos version to if i'm not wrong here?

Nope. This is why "Exynos abuse" was easiest way to root Note 2.

Agree. I tried out Note 4 with SD at Best Buy and decided to go with Exynos version. The lags and stutters on SD version are too obvious. Also not happy with audio/music quality on SD DAC.

You mean you don't give a damn? Anyway, CPU performance is hardly a problem these days. A lot more of it is in software optimization. The support for the SD SoCs is a lot bigger, since it's everywhere. More closed source SoCs, like the Exynos, are only to be found in Samsung's phones. It's harder to develop a proper CM for it due to closed source libs, but some of the most skilled developers in here are still doing some amazing work.

Personally, I think Samsung should go for the Exynos, as Qualcomm has hardly any competition. With Samsung being one of the biggest manufacturers, I think it can make a huge difference. If Samsung is just consistent, using only the Exynoses in their flagships at least.
Exynos Note 4 users can expect a increase in Android development if the chip used in the S6 is similar enough =)

MST transmitter?

Someone should make one like the qi receivers for the Note 4. I contacted Looppay who sells the MST cards but they only replied back the galaxy s6 and Note 5 has it built in.
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk 2
I was literally researching this topic an hour ago... Here are my findings:
Samsung acquired LoopPay back in February 2015. LoopPay had a few products aimed at iPhones to give it contactless payment using MST.
2. LoopPay has 2 different products according to their site; MST sleeve for the iPhone 5/5s/6/6Plus and a standalone "card" that is programmable.
There is no official news that Samsung will provide a bolt-on accessory for other Samsung devices. My theory/hope is that there will be some kind of accessory in the near future for S5 and Note 4 devices to help boost the adoption rate of Samsung Pay. The pessimistic side of me thinks that Samsung bought LoopPay exclusively to leverage the MST patents and block any MST tech from ending up in Apple's future devices - a smart move, but has no plans to create any accessories for older Samsung devices nor license out the patents on MST to 3rd party accessory makers like NFC and Qi wireless charging accessories.

Interesting phone, i wanted to get it, but asus decided to remove sd slot, and to put usb 2.0 type-c port. There is nothing flagship about that

here in Germany there is a little Promo for Pre-Order
and a Shop sell the 128gb with 8GB for 599€
How is the ASUS politics about bootloader unlock and de-googling phones? I would buy it as soon as I can use it without Google.
The battery life seems really pitiful and with that 33w lackluster charging I do not feel it's that great a device these paid reviewers are making it to be. 5.5 hours SOT is not something to boast about.
It would've been perfect if ASUS would've chosen the Snapdragon 870, which makes sense considering the mediocre cameras that don't even need the DSP of the 888 and almost equal performance to it and much better throttling/thermals and battery efficiency.
So sad.

No, Ubuntu is not feasible at the moment, unfortunately their OS is not compatible with many phones and they do not have all the apps. Yes, I know you were ironic, btw.
FYI, I would like to use it with LineageOS or similar ROMs, without gapps, for a variety of reasons:
Because I do not need most of Google apps and services;
Because Google Play Services eats battery doing things I do not want to,;
Because I like having more control of what is happening on my devices;
There are also a privacy concern which is real, Rob Braxman on YouTube can tell you more about that.
Regarding my initial question (that you haven't replied), I suppose I will keep monitoring the XDA and 4pda forums and see how things will evolve.
Asus provide bootloader utility for previous devices, should be up for zenfone 8 soon.
I will add signature spoofing and degoogle stock rom. I have done it for all my devices: improved battery life and full control.
When is the phone going to be released in the UK? Cannot find any information whatsoever?

Did you try any of Asus previously published unlock apps? For example, this one looks rather generic:

General XDA Article: Samsung will sell replacement parts for Galaxy phones and tablets

Samsung will sell replacement parts for Galaxy phones and tablets
Samsung is partnering with iFixit to create repair guides and sell replacement parts for some Galaxy phones and tablets.
www.xda-developers.com

Samsung will sell replacement parts for Galaxy phones and tablets
Tech companies love to tout how their products are more friendly to the environment, but it often amounts to little more than marketing. For example, while Apple uses smaller boxes and more recycled materials in its newer products, the company has also fought against right-to-repair legislation that could extend the life of older iPhones and Mac computers and keep them out of landfills. Samsung is now taking another small step towards sustainability, with the promise to sell replacement parts for repair to anyone.
Repair shops can already purchase replacement components for Samsung’s phones and tablets, but starting “this summer,” Samsung says anyone will be able to purchase the parts for self-repairs. The program will start with the Galaxy S20 and S21 lineup, as well as the Galaxy Tab S7 Plus. Samsung will sell display assemblies with integrated batteries, back glass panels, and charging ports, and you’ll be able to return used parts to Samsung to recycle.
The company said in a press release, “Samsung consumers will get access to genuine device parts, repair tools, and intuitive, visual, step-by-step repair guides.” Samsung is partnering with iFixit to create the repair guides, which seems to be a growing trend with electronics manufacturers — Valve recently worked with iFixit to sell parts and create repair guides for the Steam Deck console.
Samsung says it plans to extend parts availability to more devices. The new Galaxy S22 series is notably missing from the current list, and the inclusion of only one Galaxy Tab model is a bit strange. Still, assuming Samsung follows through with its plans (and the replacement parts aren’t overpriced), it’s a great move to keep functioning phones and tablets out of landfills.
iFixit already has repair guides available for the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Plus, and the rest of the guides will be available “in the coming weeks.”
